Dekiru And The Beaters of SAO
Chapter 8: The Pains of Life
Rumi, Izuku, Emi, and Shota were sitting in the living room watching the news in their new apartment on the UA campus. The two had finally been released from the hospital along with the majority of the patients who were part of SAO. And once that happened the floodgates opened. The police had released the recordings that were captured thanks to Melissa and Izuku getting into an admin terminal When they were in the game. It allowed David Shield who was monitoring his daughter to gain access to what she sees and what she hears. Unfortunately, that connection was cut off when SAO went offline. What was worse was the people who were affected on I-Island were still in the game for some reason And David Shield was looking into it. This unfortunately included Melissa and her girlfriend Mei Hatsume, who were visiting the I-Island Expo and was testing out the Nerve gear during set Expo when they were caught in SAO. A lot of people suspect this was Kayaba's doing, but Izuku and the rest of the Beaters knew otherwise. For one he was dead and Melissa was selected by him personally so she could do good in the real world and possibly defeat AFO, She couldn't do that while still in the game. That meant somebody else was behind it, He had brought this up with Nezu who was looking into it, And that was not the worst of it.
Because days after they released the videos to the public there were several assassination attempts on his life and his family. And what made it worse several of them were at his mom and Shota's apartment. Nezu had moved them on to UA campus along with Rumi who had been disowned by her parents. Rumi already had a strained relationship with her parents due to her wish to be a hero. But when they found out she planned on marrying Izuku they had freaked Due to his quirkless status. Izuku had been there for her all the way through the pain and Now she was staying with him. And what made it worse was that the HPSC was trying to charge him with Vigilantism for his actions in the game. Which Nezu and his army of lawyers were fighting with everything they had. The HPSC didn't like that a Quirkless person was the savior of SAO (which everybody was now calling him) and we're doing everything in their power to get rid of him and his group.
But the HPSC really didn't have much of a leg to stand on on the matter due to Izuku's status as being quirkless. Since the modern vigilante laws state that you need a quirk to commit said crime to be charged in the first place. Although they probably would have Gotten away with it, if it wasn't for the large amount of people who were his supporters. With the majority of the people who were in SAO and their families and friends. As well as groups that were adamantly against quirk discrimination. This included the number one hero All Might who was attempting to play peacekeeper and make his stands on the matter known. Which was somewhere in the middle. The guy had nothing against his Quirkless status and didn't believe he should be charged with Vigilantism. But at the same time, he did not approve that the heroes in SAO allowed somebody Inexperienced and so young to be on the front lines let alone leading the charge.
This was understandable If it wasn't for the fact that Izuku had more experience as a hardcore gamer. Which allowed him to easily maximize their skills and create builds that meshed well with their current skill set. Not to mention him being a beta tester who managed to get to floors that no one else reached during the beta Which allowed everybody for the first 30 floors to get a leg up due to his information. And then there was his information-gathering skills and tactical genius, which made him a person that they could not afford to not have on the front lines. It also didn't help that Izuku was quite skilled in combat and had taken down a boss single-handedly. But the biggest reason why he was on the front lines was Manpower. At the start of SAO There were only around 100 active Heroes on the front lines the rest were filled in by civilians. Without him and other civilians taking up the slack they would have never gotten out of SAO. Plus there was no way he was going to let people die, especially since he had the capability of saving so many.
But even with that fact and even with all the feats That he achieved in SAO Izuku could not help but admit He could see it from All Might's perspective. He was 15 when he entered SAO and was only now turning 18 in 3 months. He was quite young to be on the front lines and he should have not been there. A normal person would prevent somebody so young from going to the front lines to keep their innocence a bit longer. But Izuku's innocence was taken from him when the quirk doctor told him he was quirkless. It was shattered when his best friend turned on him along with the rest of his peers. It was Ground into dust when the teachers did nothing to stop The abuse that he was suffering from And in fact encouraged it. It was blown away by the wind when the rest of society showed what they thought about the quirkless.
He also knew the only reason he was able to join the raids in the first place was because the majority of the players wanted to get rid of him since he was quirkless. They thought he would be nothing but cannon fodder and would die within the first raid or two. Well, that backfired on them since he didn't only just survive, he made a name for himself and gained a lot of respect in the process. It also helped that Rumi Had his back from day one as well as his eventual team. But that did not stop the absurd amount of assassination attempts on him.
At least those people are now dead or in jail, And everybody on his team was healthy. And speaking of Health, his team was now healthy enough to investigate their quirk a bit. They weren't going to do anything too complicated today and only see how the keys worked. So Izuku bought the first key to the first floor. But when he took it out of his inventory a door appeared out of nowhere causing everybody to take a Battle Stance. When they realized they were in no danger Izuku approached the door and opened it with the key. When he did he noticed that it led straight to the first floor And right into the main plaza. Izuku did not dare to step through it, especially since he did not know if the door would disappear the second that he went through. And instead, he simply put his hand through just to see if it was real before pulling it back and closing the door. When the door closed it disappeared. This causeed Izuku to go into a mumbling storm as he quickly writes down his observations into his notebook.
Seeing this everybody in the room went to get some snacks, knowing that it was counterproductive to knock him out of his train of thought. This wasn't the first time Izuku went in what they called his analysis mode. At first, people thought it was creepy and annoying. But after seeing his skills in Analysis they had realized that it would probably improve their chances of living if they did not knock him out of it. Hell, it kind of became a taboo thing to do after their success rates skyrocketed the second that they decided to let him be while he was in his analysis mode. After a couple of minutes of Izuku being in his analysis mode, he then closed his notebook, turned to them, and spoke up.
"Okay, I'll give you the rundown of what I figured out. If I'm guessing right somehow Kayaba created a pocket dimension where the entirety of SAO exists and our quirks are the only way to access it. If I'm right the pocket Dimension will follow the same rules and themes of SAO. But it's possible that the information that we have gained in the past could be completely incorrect due to the fact that this is its own dimension. But I doubt that would be the case. Kayaba created this quirk for us to defeat AFO and it took us 2 years for us to get to the 75th floor. And that's with a whole bunch of players behind us. So I doubt he would change everything. Otherwise, it would be counterproductive. Although I'm positive there will be some changes since his whole philosophy is that power is earned not given." Izuku said as they nodded their heads in agreement.
"Do you think only your group will be able to enter or can others join you?" Nezu Ask as he appeared out of nowhere with a cup of tea in his paws. Normally everybody would have jumped at the sudden appearance of Nezu. But the rat bear Mouse thing had done it enough times that no one was surprised at this point.
"I think so, it's definitely possible especially since he clearly said in our last meeting that he was only expecting one of us to meet his criteria to be chosen. Although I doubt they would be able to get much out of the experience compared to us. Then again that could be the difficulty curve." Izuku said as he stroked his chin in thought.
"Difficulty curve?" Shota asked curious. Unlike his wife, he was not much of a gamer so certain lingo was lost on him.
"Say if Kayaba didn't change a thing in that dimension and that every piece of information I was able to collect is accurate, It would be too easy. But if I was the only player It would be quite a different story. MMOs like SAO are not designed to be played by a single player. And people who do go solo are either extremely experienced, idiots, or a masochist. Because of this, I don't think that would be the case because like I said earlier it would be too difficult and nearly impossible." Izuku said completely serious. When everybody nodded their heads in agreement he continued.
"But if we want to be sure, I think I know a way." Izuku said as he bought the tutorial key and held it out to them.
"Wait that's the tutorial key, wait are you telling me the whole time that there was a bloody tutorial in SAO. damn I must have skipped that." Rumi Said facepalming. She had been in that game for 2 years and she didn't know that there was a bloody tutorial. God she must have looked like a total idiot fumbling around for the first couple of months.
"No, Rumi. The only tutorial was in the beta, and it was removed when SAO was launched officially. That's why Izuku's book became a Lifeline for a lot of people when they were starting out," Emi said, frowning.
"Okay, then why would Kayaba add it back in then?" Shota asked Frowning a bit.
"Two reasons, one there are new rules to the game that weren't in SAO. And two it's a safety net to impart to us what this quirk is and its purpose. After all, he was dying and a guy like that wouldn't risk his plans dying with him all of a sudden. My guess is everything was set up to be automatic just in case he did die." Izuku said frowning a bit. Izuku was pretty sure that the thing was automated especially With the information from their encounter with Nokami. But his thoughts were cut off by the voice of Nezu.
"Then I recommend we wait until Miss Tsutsum gets back to attempt such a thing, and in the meantime, we should discuss how we're going to proceed Going forward." Nezu said as he sipped his tea.
Kaina, along with several other Heroes who were stuck in SAO, were in the process of investigating what was the reason why people were still stuck in their nerve gear. She was currently on I-Island with Ryuko investigating further and would be back in 3 days. Nezu also was able to get Kaina out of the clutches of the HPSC and higher her as the new heroics teacher at UA.
"Very well, first I would like to get involved in the investigation. I believe I may be able to help in figuring out what happened with the people who are still trapped." Izuku said causing Shota to frown Before responding.
"Kid, you're not a hero yet, And because of that we can't let you be involved." Aizawa said frowning, But his wife just snorted in amusement.
"Shota my dear foolish husband. Izuku is already a hero and unless we start spilling that he's got a quirk to defeat some ancient evil. He will not be able to be convicted of vigilantism since he doesn't officially have a quirk. Plus he doesn't need to fight villains to help us to investigate. We can simply Mark him as a private consultant. Plus our son is more than capable of protecting himself and taking any Low Life villain on. Especially since his skills have not dulled in the slightest. Plus Rumi is going to be going back on active duty and as long as they stick together I'm positive the two can handle any situation that comes at them." Emi said with a proud smile on her face.
"Emi, Izuku is just a kid. He should be worrying about stuff that teenagers do not this. This is real life and not a game." Shota said frowning but the last sentence he spoke seemed to set his wife off.
"Shota Aizawa don't you ever say that what we went through was just a game. What we went through in there was life or death situation after situation. We all had to develop new skills to stay a fucking alive. Unlike here where the fully grown and trained hero is practically turned out by the hundreds each year. In there We only had around 100 Heroes that were active the rest sat in the first town in the safe Zone doing fucking nothing. It was civilians who took up the slack and kids like Izuku who filled in the gaps. Yeah, I fucking don't like it. Fuck I hate it with a fucking passion. But we had no fucking choice and if it wasn't for people like Izuku, who in my eyes have more than earned the title of a hero, and the only thing separating from us and Them is a fucking license. We would be still in that game slowly dying as our bodies rotted away in The Real World. Hell, I would be dead by now if it wasn't for Izuku. The kid is not just a tactical genius But he's also one hell of a detective and he is Certainly better than Sir Nighteye. We had taken down so many villain groups in there through his investigative skill alone." Emi said with fury in her tone. Causing her husband to step back a bit.
"I must agree with your wife on this Aizawa. As much as I hate to admit it, Young Izuku has already lost that innocence that you're trying to protect, And is more than capable of joining us in this investigation. It would be absolutely foolish of us to not accept his help on this matter. Although I do not feel comfortable with him being alone outside of UA. As such, I will Mark him as a Consultant and private detective on this case. And I'll be assigning Miss Usagiyama to be his partner." Nezu said causing Aizawa to Huff in annoyance.
"Okay, since that is settled. I think the first thing we should do is go over the evidence and fill me in as much as you can." Izuku said and after Nezu nodded his head in agreement they got to work.
