"My condolences on Raoul," the phantom said to Christine.
"Thank you," Christine said quietly. She paused. "Erik, I don't want you to be father-ly to Gustave. I mean, please be nice to him," she corrected herself. "Just not… father-ly." In response, Erik looked at Christine questioningly. "I struggle with myself enough for putting Gustave through this after everything that he has been through," Christine said.
Having said what she wanted to say, Christine disappeared.
Later…
There was a gossipy and jittery ballerina and Christine ignored her. Gossipy and jittery ballerinas were nothing new to Christine. "I've heard that the phantom has killed people," the gossipy and jittery ballerina said.
That caught Christine's attention.
Later…
Christine confronted Erik over what the gossipy and jittery ballerina had said.
"In self-defense," Erik responded.
"Goodbye, Erik," Christine said and she left Erik.
