Hello! This is my first ever fanfic, I hope you enjoy this fun little story that came into my head the other day lol
Beginning this story we find our siblings, Yang and Garnet, they were currently in their respected rooms on a group facetime call with the two other members of the team.
Yang and Garnet were currently at their family home in Patch, with their father Taiyang, Uncle Qrow, Aunt Raven and Battle Corgi, Zwei over Beacon's autumn break, Blake and Weiss' families were in town as well and thus their families would pop in the background of the call, provoking questions about family and home life that were surprisingly never explored during normal team chats.
While each of them enjoyed the time off from school and being with their families for the first time since starting school or longer, the team still missed each other having forged a very unlikely bond between the four vastly differing characters.
One night while on a group facetime call, Garnet suggested they attend the fall festival in Vale that was happening so they could hangout together again.
"That sounds like a great idea!" The ladies of the team all said in unison before taking a second to process that they all shared one brain cell for a moment, then erupting in a chorus of giggles, and more than a few bemused looks from family members in the background.
"Okay, but what time and where should we meet?" The blondie asked who was upside down prior to rolling over onto her stomach, kicking her feet up in the air lazily, letting them go back and forth just barely in frame of her Scroll's camera which elicited a nose scrunch from Weiss who was about suggest the hand to hand specialist be getting a pedicure, but the caped crusader pipped up to cut her off
Said gemstone of the group had gotten a little snacky during the call, so he walked downstairs to the kitchen to grab a snack where the sounds of cooking could be heard in the background as he laid his Scroll down on the counter, all his screen showing was the ceiling of the kitchen while he ate what was only could be assumed as cookies filling his mouth while he spoke
"Wha aboo da poprt wherm da fewy awives fwom Patch?" This time his white themed teammate got her critique in "Garnet please, how many times must I tell you not to talk with your mouthful" She scolded him for what felt like an uncountable number of times since the beginning of school "Whoops-*GULP*-sorry Weiss" the entire team visibly cringed knowing he just swallowed without using any milk or other liquids
Before anyone else could say anything though, Blake countered the meeting spot with one that came to her mind when the plan of going to the festival was brought up "While that's not a bad idea, Garnet. I was thinking of a cafe, Sun and I went to. They have good coffee and tea-" Yang and Weiss visibly liked the sound of her proposal by their faces lighting up, as did Garnet but Blake knew the young man's weakness "-they also apparently have some of the best pastries and cookies in all of Vale" with that Garnet grabbed his Scroll off the counter, eyes as wide as his excited smile, the one which every member of the team it warmed the heart of, but to one of the three girls, her heart, it melted for the boy in a different love.
"That sounds like a great idea!" Three out of the four agreed to this proposal again, sharing one brain cell, and once again all of them staring at each other before all four giggled.
"Now, with that settled I believe that we have a plan for tomorrow. Blake can you send the address please?" Of which the cat faunus did immediately, popping up on the other three's Scroll's with differing notification sounds "How does everyone feel about meeting at the cafe at 8AM? We can all get breakfast there, my treat" Weiss asked before she lowered her Scroll for a moment and going on mute to talk to someone out of frame. Only one of the three remaining could literally read her lips but it wasn't hard to deduce she was asking someone for money for tomorrow, by her satisfied smile it was obviously a "yes" from whoever she was asking, before coming back into frame and off of mute, but by then Yang had left the call, her and Garnett sharing his Scroll that was propped up on her desk as Yang and Garnett looked at the cafe's menu on her computer the two of them browsing the online menu "Yeah this place looks like it has some really good options!" Garnett added, his eyes lighting up like candles when Yang got to the desert menu, causing one of the young ladies to smile, but just a little more than her usual smile.
"Seems like we have a plan in place then!" Weiss said satisfied as a female voice called out her name "Weiss are you ready?" The heirris went on mute once again to reply before coming back to join the conversation "Hey guys, my family is getting ready to go out to dinner. I'll see you guys tomorrow!" Weiss gave an elegant wave as she left the call, leaving the siblings with the feline.
Almost on que as Blake was about to strike up more conversation with the siblings her name was called by a lady out of frame "Blaaake, dinner is ready" she repeated Weiss' tactic of going on mute before responding then retuning to the siblings "Okay my family is ready for dinner too, I'll see you two in the morning. Remember, 8AM at the cafe, make sure to set alarms you two" Blake said, knowing full well that the two of them are going to be late "We will Blakey don't you worry about us!" Yang responded with an over exaggerated thumbs up "Okay then, see you two tomorrow" Blake said with a smile before leaving the call.
"I can't wait for tomorrow!" Garnet was practically jumping up and down with excitement as his big sister swiveled around to look at her baby brother, giggling as she stood up and ruffled his hair causing the crimsonette to pout.
Yang was currently wearing a yellow long-sleeved v neck shirt that was cut a little extra low as it showed off her chest nicely as it hung loosely down just above her navel which was covered by black leggings with three yellow stripes down the sides, she had opted out of shoes today since she wasn't planning on going anywhere
"Yaaaaaaaaang, stoooooppp" he pleaded with her, causing her to smile and shake her head at the team leader who looked quite comfy, he had a red zip up hoodie on over an oversized black band shirt that said "Ok Godnight" across the chest, he had on a pair of black sweat pants that were solid red aroud the cuffs but faded into what looked like rose pedals as it went up, the design stopping around his knees
"Fine, I suppose I should cut you a little bit of slack since you did-"
Yang was cut off by the sound of her mother calling both her and Garnet's names "Yang, Garnet, dinner is ready!" The voice of their father followed Raven's as soon as she ended her sentence "Yeah you better get down here before Zwei and Qrow eat it all"
As soon as Taiyang finished his calling out to his children some rustling could be heard from upstairs as a door was swung open and Garnet zipped downstair to stand right next to his dad, leaving a trail of disintegrating rose pedals in his wake, and just as Yang made it halfway down the stairs she tripped and fell down the rest before hopping up and giving a thumbs up with a big cheesy smile while leaning against the guard rail completely ignoring the fact she just fell down 8 steps "Sup, how's it Yangin'" her pun causing the entire household including Zwei to groan in unison "What? I thought it was punny?" she said with a shrug before walking into the dining room and taking her seat, followed in stride by Garnet who was currently recovering from a nasty facepalm
"Kid, you really shouldn't give up being a huntress" Their uncle Qrow said as he walked into the dining room with a glass of apple cider in hand, slightly surprising the two younger ones since usually he drank liquor, but hey, tis the season or something like that they thought at the same time, but it could possibly be spiked so who knows. Although what did surprise them was his appearance, he was cleaned up and doesn't look so dusty.
Currently the uncle was wearing an olive field jacket with a pristine white shirt that was tucked into light blue jeans that are cuffed at the ankle showing off his brown Chelsea boots
"Now now brother" The attention was brought over to the doorway leading to the kitchen, standing in said doorway with a pot of stew in hand held by gloved hands as to not burn them was Yang's mother, Raven. She was sporting her hair up in a messy ponytail, a long grey sweater that hugged her bust that she passed down to her daughter, it fell down to about her mid thighs, covering her legs she has black legging that went down into her grey and orange accented high top vans
"Don't be so testy. It's not like you were very punny yourself back in our days at Beacon" the matriarch grinned ear to ear with her daughter as her pun caused Garnet and Qrow to lean back in their chairs letting out a groan in unison "Okay, we'll, yang up the puns" Qrow sat down at the end of the table nearby Garnet, silently offering him his glass as to which Garnet shrugged and took it. Taking a sip he found that it was just mulled apple cider and handed it back to his uncle all while Raven was putting the pot on the table, making conversation with her Daughter making Garnet remember the day she showed up at the beginning of their school break.
It was a surprise to everyone but Taiyang when Raven showed up, who Raven had been talking to him about wanting to be the mother to Yang she was supposed to be, and the mother to Garnet he needed her to be.
When she arrived, Raven spent more than a minute at the door, anxious about what was to come, until Yang opened the door knowing as soon as her mother had arrived.
The first part of their conversation was spent with Yang letting out her rage at Raven who sat on the couch as he daughter unleashed hell at her, with every word she felt more and more grief and shame, while this was going on, Garnet and Taiyang were in the kitchen letting the two females talk.
After a long conversation and explanation Yang was able to forgive her mother through many tears and much expended pent up anger, peace was achieved between mother and daughter.
"-t wasn't even spiked!" Finally seeing the hand waving in his face from his uncle who was talking to his sister, Garnet jumped a little in his chair, shaking his head as he came back to the real world where he saw a looks of slight concern from Yang and Raven "Oops, sorry, I spaced out" the youngest of the group confessed sheepishly, evoking sighs of relief "Good, I thought Qrow had gotten you wasted" Raven said while glaring daggers at said man who siply shrugged "You haven't been around long, but you should know, the kid has a helluva tolerance"- "UNCLE QROW!" Garnet and Yang both yelled in unison, shocked and stunned at this revelation, Garnet slowly sunk down into his chair and pulled his hood over his head feeling his cheeks growing red as the daggers in shape of eyes aimed at him "We shall talk about this later" the mother daughter duo said in unison, making the poor boy sink even further down as Qrow simply laughed heartily
Garnet silently thanked Oum because Taiyang finally came into the dining room wearing a , holding multiple sides up his arms like a professional waiter, consisting of corn, rolls, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce "Okay whose ready to eat!" He shined completely oblivious as to what was just revealed to his wife and daughter while setting down all the sides, giving Raven a kiss on the cheek before pulling her chair out for her to sit down, afterwards he took his seat at the head of the table, taking Yang's hand in his left and Raven's in his right, Yang took Garnets in her left and Garnet Qrow's as he took Raven's in his left and his in her right before they all bowed their heads and thanked Oum for their food, friends and family.
