When Trunks returned to Gohan, he found him outside West City at his makeshift home.

"Hey Trunks," Gohan greeted him with a smile. "How was your break?"

"It was good... I went to go see your family." Trunks decided to get directly to the point. "Since you said you missed them, I decided to check on them for you."

Gohan's smile faltered slightly but he still kept it up. He hoped Trunks hadn't noticed. "And how are they?"

"They're doing great." Trunks replies. "Buuut, they really want to see you. Especially Usagi. You should've seen the look on her face when I showed up by myself!"

"Heh, yeah. I can imagine."

Trunks was about to head home when he remembered something. "Oh yeah! Mom said I should invite you to dinner."

Gohan raised his brows. "You sure? Don't wanna intrude or anything..."

"Of course! She's probably cooking a great big meal anyway. C'mon!"

Gohan chuckled. "Alright then, lead the way Trunks!"

Together, the two half Saiyans fly to the dilapidated Capsule Corp building Trunks and his family still live in. The rest of the city was equally torn up by the Androids. Hardly anyone lived in West City anymore.

Once they arrived, they could feel Rei's power level lingering around.

"Come on out Rei, I know you're here!" Trunks called out.

Rei appeared behind them, floating onto the ground. The half Saiyans turn to look at her. "Welcome back Trunks. I see you've brought Gohan."

"Hello!"

"You're training with him, aren't you?"

Trunks' jaw dropped. "Whaaaat? Nooo..."

Rei crossed her arms and gave him a look.

Trunks sighed. "How did you know?"

"I've noticed every time you leave and each time you come back, your power level has risen. Even if it's just a little bit." Rei explains. She glanced at Gohan briefly before looking back at her brother. "Try not to let mom catch you, you know she's not dumb."

Trunks lowered his head in shame. "Does Ami know?"

"I've been monitoring your power levels when you sleep." Ami appears to their side with her visor on. "You have been getting exponentially stronger."

"That's not concerning in the slightest..." Trunks remarked sarcastically. Ami took after their mother the most in terms of brains. It was scary how smart Ami was, especially for how young she was. "Gosh," Trunks continued. "What haven't you two been doing?"

"We have been training in our own ways." Rei supplied.

"Maybe you should join us then." Gohan offered. Even though the three of them were still kids, the fate of the world may land on them. Rei had some Saiyan blood in her too. Even though Ami didn't, she could be a useful ally. He just wouldn't let them anywhere near the Androids until they were ready. Besides, it would be much safer if they trained with him.

Regardless, Rei refused. "I think it'll be too obvious something is up when mom finds us all gone."

"True." Bulma would have Gohan burning at the stake if she ever found out. "You two just be careful, alright?"

"Don't worry about us, Gohan." Rei assured him. "Just worry about Trunks."

Trunks felt offended by her statement. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Rei turned her back on him and began heading away. "Mom is calling."

"No she isn't!"

Gohan tried to intervene before a fight started. "Settle down kids, before she hears you!"

"Before who hears you?"

All four of them were shocked to see Bulma walking towards them.

"Oh, hi mom!" Trunks would have to let go of Rei's comment, effectively letting her get away with it. "I brought Gohan over, like you said!"

"So I see." Bulma smiled and walked over to give Gohan a hug. "You should come by more often," she told him. "You'd have a nice warm meal waiting for you. You don't have to do everything alone y'know."

Gohan pat Bulma's back as she hugged him. "Unfortunately, I don't have much of a choice. Innocents need protecting."

Bulma pulled back and sighed. Her smile never went away though. "Just like your father. Now come one, let's go eat."

. 。 * ✧ * 。 .

Bulma was used to feeding two half Saiyans under her roof, but with the addition of Gohan she had to make a feast. She didn't mind it too much though, she wanted to make sure her friend's son was doing okay.

After dinner was over, Gohan excused himself to leave. "Thanks for having me over Bulma." he had said, "But it's time for me to go."

"Alright Gohan, take care." Bulma and her children waved goodbye as he left. Bulma then turned to Ami. "Ami," she says. "Wait for me in the lab."

Ami dipped her head and walked off, gathering her visor and tablet.

"Rei, I'm sure you— oh." Bulma blinked. "She's already gone." She assumed that Rei went off to go meditate.

Trunks was just about to head off as well but Bulma stopped him. "Hold on a second mister, I need to have a word with you."

Trunks froze in his tracks. Oh no! I'm in trouble now! He slowly turned to face his mother. "Yes mom?"

"Don't think I don't know what you've been up to. I know you've been training." Bulma crossed her arms.

Trunks frowned. "Are you upset?"

Bulma sighed deeply, chewing the inner side of her cheek. While she didn't like the idea, she knew why it was necessary. "No... I'm not mad."

Trunks nearly panicked, "I'm sorry, I just— wait. Your not?"

Bulma shook her head softly. "No... I just know you want to help Gohan."

"He's been trying to teach me how to go Super Saiyan. He's been a really good teacher!"

Bulma chuckled a bit. "I bet." She then went serious again. "If you every find yourself in trouble, I want you to run away, okay? I don't want to lose you too."

Trunks' heart sunk for his mother. She had lost so many people. His father, Ami's father, Goku... Pretty much all of her friends. The last thing he wanted to do was worry her.

It was because of those Androids that Bulma was raising him and his siblings by herself.

"I better go," Bulma added after a while. "Ami's waiting for me."

Trunks watched his mother walk away.

Don't worry mom, he thought to himself. I'll make you proud.
