Trunk whipped his head to look behind him at the sound of the familiar voice. Her dress was replaced with a sailor's uniform and tall boots. Her hair was... It was golden! Did Usagi become Super Saiyan? Trunks responded by transforming as well. "Way to go Usako!" he shouted. He was proud of her. "How'd you know how to do that?"
"I..." Usagi blinked. "I don't know. It felt natural."
"Ugh, disgusting. Shut up you two, we're trying to fight!" Android 17 drew his hands in, aiming at Sailor Moon. "Power blitz!"
"No!" Trunks dove in the way, preparing his burning attack to counter the power blitz.
17 scoffed. "How annoying."
"Moon tiara... Action!"
17 ducked out of the way, sidestepping in the air. "Nice try but you're not—" The tiara boomerage came back and hit him in the base of his head. "Okay, now you're making me angry."
"Let's split them up, I'll take the girl!" Android 18 had recovered from the double attack and was now ready to get back into the fray.
Android 17 nodded. "Good idea."
The siblings flew in opposite directions, picking the teens apart.
Usagi had to fend for herself. Gosh... I don't know what to do! If only Luna was here. She watched as Android 18 circled around her in the air menacingly.
"I haven't seen you around... Who are you anyway?" Android 18 cocked a brow.
At this point, Usagi was just going off the cuff. "I am Sailor Moon, the pretty guardian of love... and justice. Surrender now or I will punish you!"
Android 18 let out a laugh. "The pretty guardian of love and justice? Please."
Sailor Moon grit her teeth and gripped onto her tiara. "You're going to pay for killing my brother! Moon twilight flash!" The tiara glinted and blinded Android 18 with its light.
18 shielded her eyes, momentarily immobilized.
"Moon tiara action!" Sailor Moon flung the tiara towards 18 once more. It struck her but it barely even put a dent in her.
"Is that all you got?" Android 18 held out her index finger, shooting beams out of it towards Sailor Moon's feet.
Sailor Moon pushed off of the ground and flew. "Nope! Take this! Masenko!" Usagi shot at 18 but missed horrendously. She was out of practice and horrified. Terror kept into her expression as she watched 18 smirk. She held her hands out, charging spheres of pink energy.
The spheres shot out of her hands like bullets. Usagi did her best to dodge them but she was struck down.
The whole time, Trunks was doing well against Android 17 but he was in a severely weakened state since the fight this morning.
When he heard Usagi shout out in fear, he completely abandoned his fight and went to her aid. "Usako! Hold on!"
17 and 18 gathered together in front of the teens.
Trunks had no choice but to make a retreat. Not without covering himself first. "Burning attack!"
As the Androids were pelted, Trunks gathered Usagi in his arms and flew off.
. 。 * ✧ * 。 .
By the time they arrived to Capsule Corp, Usagi transformed back. "Did we win?" Usagi asked, looking up at Trunks as he carried her.
Trunks shook his head. "Not even close. You need to start training again. In fact, if we're going to be fighting side by side we should train together."
Usagi sighed, leaning her head against his chest. "You're right."
Trunks landed inside his home. "Mom! Ami! I need you to take a look at Usagi!"
"Honestly Trunks, I'm okay." She tugged on his arm, urging him to calm down. "Just got the wind knocked out of me is all."
Trunks looked down at her, biting his lower lip. If he hadn't, it'd probably be quivering with fear for his friend. He was sure that if he hadn't stepped in, things would be a lot worse.
Bulma showed up from presumably fiddling in the lab. "What's going on, Usagi are you hurt?"
Usagi gently wrestled herself out of Trunks' grasp, setting her feet onto the floor. "Trunks is overreacting. I'm only a bit bruised." She dusted herself off, locking eyes with Bulma.
"That look... Remind me of your father." Bulma smiled briefly before frowning. "But what happened?"
"We came across the Androids." Trunks supplied. "Then Usagi changed into Sailor Moon."
"She did?!" Luna came bounding out of nowhere, leaping into Usagi's arms. "Oh I'm so proud of you!"
"But we lost. We had to run away." Trunks crossed his arms, standing there slack jawed.
"Oh Usagi..." Luna rubbed her head onto Usagi's cheek. "You have much to learn. But don't worry, I'll be with you every step of the way and you'll be stronger than ever."
As the two bonded, Bulma stepped to her son's side. "Say Trunks, did you get that thing I needed?"
"Oh yeah." Trunks dug into his pocket and pulled out the shard. Luckily it wasn't lost during the scuffle. As he handed it over, he placed one hand on top of Bulma's. "Mom, you were right. Build that time machine. I volunteer to go to the past and prevent this all from happening. Even if nothing changes for us, it's better than nothing."
He glanced at Usagi who was cradling Luna. "I just want a world where we all can be happy." Trunks continued.
"Are you sure?" Bulma asked, her eyes washing over her son's facial features. He looked determined. "Rei or Ami could go instead."
"Absolutely not." As the man of the house, Trunks felt inclined to look after his sisters. Even if Ami was months older than him. He loved them dearly.
Speaking of.
Ami and Rei joined them in the hall, each one holding a pen.
"Hey," Usagi pointed at the two. "What's that?"
Luna hopped out of her arms. "Sailor Moon... Meet Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars."
Trunks' sisters, Sailor Guardians? He couldn't believe his ears. Ami didn't have a bone in her body when it came to harming others and Rei— well Rei did but it was still shocking to hear.
"We can't let you fight alone anymore, Trunks." Ami stepped up to her brother, clutching her transformation pen in her hands. "I'm worried about you..."
"With this," Rei added, referring to her pen. "I can become stronger than ever."
"But Rei..." Trunks looked at his dark haired sister. "What about becoming a Super Saiyan?"
Rei's eyes fell to the ground before she picked them back up, puffing her chest out. "This feels right. This pen... Is calling my name."
Bulma clapped her hands, unable to contain her excitement. "Three more Sailor Soldiers! Two of them my daughters... Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna would be proud!" Bulma than ran to throw her arms around them. "And your fathers would be too..." she added softly.
Wherever they were, they were probably watching with approval.
