Professor Tomoe was once a normal man until his attempts to create the perfect being backfired and killed his daughter. His daughter, Hotaru wasn't the only thing he lost in the accident. He also lost his mind.
For years he had been creating Androids, doing anything in his power to bring his daughter back. He was most successful with Androids 17 and 18, but it wasn't enough. He had to gather pure hearts to return Hotaru to life.
17 and 18 lacked pure hearts.
It was the best thing he could do without a Silver Crystal. The Silver Crystal could undo everything with its great power. But since he didn't know where to find it, pure hearts would have to do.
They laid down on metal stretches as Tomoe repaired them. It was the first time in a long time he had to fix them.
"Lost... To a bunch of teenagers... How pathetic!" Tomoe slammed his hands against the metal stretcher.
17 and 18 were asleep so they couldn't hear him. They already knew how disappointed Professor Tomoe was going to be when they returned. So there was no need.
Tomoe shook his head to himself. He opened their chest cavities and equiped them to be able to extract hearts. Even if they didn't have pure hearts, collecting normal hearts would make them even stronger.
Closing their chest cavities back up, Professor Tomoe turned the Androids back on.
As they wake up, he turns around and walks into a different room. Inside it was Hotaru's lifeless form, slumped over on a throne of stuffed animals. He walked in up to her, caressing her face with his hand.
17 and 18 peaked in after him as the professor talked to his daughter.
"Soon, Android 9." he said to her. "You will awaken."
Kaolinite pushed past the twin Androids, to step into the room. She cleared her throat to alert the professor of her presence.
Tomoe turned around to look at her. The light source shining from the door glinted off of his glasses, making his eyes hidden.
"Professor Tomoe," Kaolinite said. "You're going to want to hear this."
"Yes yes," Tomoe twirled his hand. "Out with it Kaolinite."
Kaolinite inhaled sharply. "I know who has the Silver Crystal. It's Sailor Venus. The princess of Silver Millennium."
"Find her then. Kill her and bring me the crystal. Take 17 and 18 with you, their lives depend on it."
Tomoe whipped back around to tend to his daughter. He didn't see the hurt on Kaolinite's face. She was expecting a simple thank you, some kind of acknowledgement for her work. She ached for his approval.
It was a twisted form of love.
"Come along then." Kaolinite closed the door behind her, beckoning 17 and 18 to follow.
18 peeked around Kaolinite's shoulders as the red headed woman walked ahead of them. "You're going to let him talk to you like that?" she asked snarkily.
Kaolinite shot her a glare. "Would you?"
Android 18 stayed silent. If she talked back, Tomoe would kill her.
Kaolinite faced forward once again. "Let's focus on finding Sailor Venus."

It was nighttime.
Trunks slipped past the lab. His mother and sister were asleep, passed out from working all day on the time machine.
Rei was meditating elsewhere.
Usagi went home along with Minako who would be staying over for the time being.
Trunks couldn't sleep, his mind was racing. If only they had managed to kill Androids 17 and 18 when they had the chance. But Ami was right, they weren't as strong as they could be without Venus.
And this... Kaolinite. Everything was much bigger than they thought it was.
Princess... Silver Crystal. The mere thought made Trunks rouse out of his bed, leading him here. He stood outside of Capsule Corp, staring up at the sky.
The half moon beamed down at him.
A shadowy figure jumped across the sky, silhouetted against the moon. At first, Trunks froze. He was almost certain he saw a sailor suit.
The figure landed on top of a building, blocks away from Trunks. He had to go investigate. He dug his toes into the ground to propel himself into the air.
Trunks circled around the building he saw the figure land on, but the person was nowhere to be seen. He planted his feet onto the roof and scratched his head.
"I could've sworn..."
"Love me chain!"
A bright orange chain was flung around him, binding his arms to his sides. "What the—" Trunks was pulled backwards, feeling a presence press up behind him.
"Have you been following me?" the voice asked. It was light and feminine.
Trunks had to admit that it was true. There was no nicer way of putting it. "Well... Yeah."
The girl pressed her foot into Trunks' back, tightening the chain around him. "Who are you? Are you an Android?
"Trunks. Trunks Briefs."
"... Briefs?" Familiarity rang in her voice.
"Who are you?" Trunks couldn't see the girl. "Are you Sailor V?"
"I—" She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by a screaming voice calling for help. "—'ve got to go."
"Wait!"
The girl left Trunks tied up as she dashed away. He was able to get a glimpse of her blue skirt. This had to be Sailor V. Trunks flexed his arms, easily breaking out of the chain. The heart shaped beads fell on the ground and bounced around before they faded away.
Trunks ran after her, reaching out his arm to grab ahold of her leg.
Panicked, Sailor V conjured up another chain. She used it as a rope to swing off of a lamppost, gaining more leverage to get away.
"Wait!" Trunks called out as he flew after her. "Sailor V!"
"Leave me alone you creep!"
"I'm not a creep!"
"Well you're sure acting like one! Crescent beam!" Sailor V pointed a finger back at him and shot out a thin beam of light.
Trunks easily avoided this attack by dodging but Sailor V managed to escape.
I'll just have to find her again. Trunks continued in the direction he lost her. All he had to do was follow her energy.
