I don't own Harry Potter, but if I did there would have been no 20 years later bolloks.

Chapter 4 The Order of the Phoenix
The order of the Phoenix was many things, some say it was founded by Merlin himself as a general council for King Arthur Pendragon of Camelot. What is known is that Godric Gryffindor turned it into an army along the lines of the Knights Templar. A group of warrior wizards dedicated to the light and it remains so down through the centuries. In more recent time, at least since Albus Dumbledore took over, the Order had subtly shifted to be coming one-part political lobbyist group and one part intelligence gathering. While yes still firmly aligned to the light it had melted into the background of the magical society. That is not to say the Order could not put wands on the battle field, there were most assuredly some fine warriors of the light amongst its ranks but Dumbledore felt the Order needed to be more than mindless fighters committed to a single cause. Some of the membership overlapped and some were kept to their individual departments.
Now Dumbledore was meeting with the political wing. Gathered in a muggle hotel conferencing suite some 15 witches and wizards, some of whom worked within the ministry and others from other parts of the magical community. "So, with Amelia taking my former role I will return to the benches of the Minor Houses." Dumbledore explained. "I do believe that my stepping down, at least on the domestic level will actually make it easier for us to pursue our political goals."
"What about your position as the Supreme Mugwump?" a middle age witch asked. A minor official in the international magical cooperation office.
"While I do believe it is Cornelius's goal to have me removed from the international confederation of wizards and the representative of great Britain as the Confederation is still in session for another nine or so months he will find it incredibly difficult to do so without just cause." There was a strange electronic tinkling coming from the inside of Dumbledore robes. "Please excuse me." He walked out of the conference room.
"Aberforth?" Dumbledore listens intently. "I understand, thank you." Dumbledore returned to the room. "My friends I am afraid I must take my leave, urgent Hogwarts business. Minerva if you could join me, please?" Professor McGonagall stood and followed Dumbledore from the room. "If you would be so kind as to return to headquarters and assemble the intelligence committee. All except Severus, he does not need to be involved with this."
"Involved with what, Albus?" McGonigal asked.
"One of our sources within the Ministry has informed me that magic has been detected at the home of Mr Potter. The Minister has sent Dolores Umbridge and some Aurors to arrest Mister Potter. I am going to the scene now."
"Oh dear." McGonagall said. "Shall I inform Sirius?"
Dumbledore thought for a moment. "No. I do not believe that would be wise." He decided before apparateing away.
Lucius Malfoy left the Wizengamot session and returned home. He quickly changed out of his formal robes and into a set of black robes and picked up a mask from his wardrobe. He put the mask on and rolled up his left sleeve and touched his wand to his Dark Mark activating a port key. The port key brought Lucius to a large domed cavern. He had no idea where he was, except for along the coast as he could smell salt water. In the centre of the cave sat on an ornate chair sat Voldemort.
"Ah Lucius." Voldemort greeted Mr Malfoy. "What do you have to report?"
Malfoy told Voldemort of Dumbledore's shock removal from the Wizengamot. The Dark Lord was pleased.
"Very good." Voldemort gloated. "I believe we may be able to move forward slowly. With my servant's released from Azkaban I have enough warriors, but I need people within the Ministry who are sympathetic to our cause. Lucius, can you identify any one with in the Wizengamot itself?"
"My Lord. I do believe that all who would be sympathetic to our cause from the Antient and Noble houses are already known to us. However, there are several in the lesser houses who believe that mud bloods and half-bloods marrying into the ruling classes is damaging their own interests. Most notably the Parkinson family have been trying for several years to raise their standing in our society and have thus far been unsuccessful."
"Very interesting. The Parkinson's, if I remember correctly are an almost exclusively a Slytherin family?"
"That is correct My Lord." Malfoy confirmed. "Their youngest daughter is a classmate of my own son. In fact, the Head of the Parkinson family has been trying to arrange a match between them."
"Do you have any objections to this match?" Voldemort asked.
"Not in principle." Malfoy answered evasively. "I believe my wife would prefer Draco married for love."
"Your wife will get over it." Voldemort sneered. "If Parkinson makes you a reasonable offer you will except it. Do you understand?"
"Yes, My Lord." Malfoy replied.
"Good." Voldemort said moving on. "MacNair, you still work within the Ministry itself, correct?"
"Yes, My Lord." A hooded figure said from behind Malfoy.
"Can you think of any Ministry officials who would be ripe for the picking?"
"The Senior Undersecretary is known to despise all except those with the purest of blood My Lord." MacNair confirmed. "She even believes magical creatures such as Centaurs should be exterminated. The might the wizard, as she calls it, must prevail and she has drafted several bills restricting their lands that are due to be debated soon."
"Excellent. This will work well for us." Voldemort gloated. "You will woo this Undersecretary. Find her true allegiances. We could use some one so close to the Minister himself."
"As you wish My Lord." MacNair.
"And MacNair, if she resists you will report back, and we will send someone to convince her."
MacNair merely chortled.
"Wormtail!" Voldemort called next. "I would have you infiltrate the home of The Minister for Magic. I need to know his weaknesses. You have your orders, be gone."
Albus Dumbledore apparated to the bottom of Privet drive seconds after the Ministry team had arrived. Quickening his pace, he strode up the street in time to see the Aurors enter the house. When Dumbledore arrived he found Mafalda Hopkirk, Dolores Umbridge and two Aurors standing with their wands pointed at the Dursleys in the living room.
"Where is the boy?" Umbridge demanded.
"We don't know." Dudley replied. "I haven't seen him all day."
"Nonsense." Hopkirk replied. "We know that someone was hit with a stunning spell in this house not an hour ago."
"I don't know what you are talking about." Petunia said. "But I demand you tell me why you are here?"
"Mrs Dursley, as we said we are from the Ministry of Magic and we are here to arrest your nephew Harry Potter for underage magic." Umbridge explained. "We are aware that you and the boy do not have the best of relationships so I would have thought you would be happy that we are here to remove him."
"Take the brat anywhere you please." Vernon replied. Dumbledore noticed the bruises on the large man's knuckles and began to fear the worst. "But he is not here and we do not know where he is."
"Do you really expect us to believe you do not know where he is?" Umbridge demanded.
"He is not here." Uncle Vernon repeated. "Now you will leave my home, or I will contact the police."
"The policemen do not concern us." Umbridge smirked.
"No, Dolores. But perhaps I will." Dumbledore replied. "Mr Dursley has asked, somewhat rudely I must admit, that you leave his home. I think that you are obliged to respect his wishes as the Dursleys are not subject to the authority of the Ministry."
"Perhaps not Dumbledore." Umbridge replied. "But Potter is, and he has broken the law, again."
"Be that as it may be, Dolores, young Mister Potter is not here."
"Poppycock." Umbridge scoffed. "He must return, this is his home."
"Then I suggest you make an appointment to return." Dumbledore said. "Please don't make me become unpleasant about this. You are, yourself dangerously close to breaking the statute of secrecy." He warned. "I have never in all of my days seen the Ministry act so heavy handed for a simple instance of underage sorcery."
"You are interfering in ministry business Dumbledore!" Umbridge warned. "Aurors, please escort Mr Dumbledore away."
The two Aurors raised their wands at Dumbledore.
"Don't be absurd!" Dumbledore said calmly, slowly raising his own wand. "I am here in my capacity as the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Mr Potter is one of my students and I am performing a welfare check."
"Perhaps we should leave Dolores." Mafalda Hopkirk said trying to defuse the situation. "Potter isn't here, and we are risking detection."
"Very well." Umbridge agreed, "But rest assured we will be back for Potter."
"GET OUT!" Vernon roared. The Ministry contingent left. "You as well you old crackpot."
"Unfortunately, Mister Dursley I am not so easy to dissuade as my Ministerial colleges." Dumbledore smiled. "Now why don't we see what we can do about the memory charms you all seem to be under." It took Dumbledore several minutes to undo Hermione's charms as well as sort out the Dursleys memories of the events. "You really are the worst kind of people imaginable." Dumbledore chided them. "I have never known people to treat a child so poorly. I believe you can rest assured that Harry will not be returning here this summer." He told them. "If the Ministry comes back you may tell them that I have taken Harry into my custody for the remainder of the summer and as Headmaster of Hogwarts I have investigated the matter of the underage sorcery and found Harry to be innocent under the grounds of self-defence. Good Day."
Mr Granger made good time on the journey back to their oxford home. Harry slept the whole way. His head resting against Hermione's shoulder, who was reading a book. "We will be home in about 10 minutes pet." Mr Granger told her. Hermione nodded her understanding and put the book away.
"Dad is there any way we can buy Harry some clothes?" she asked. "All he has is what he is wearing and its blood stained, and I think they probably belonged to his cousin first."
"You mean the fat kid?" Mr Granger asked. Hermione nodded. "All right. Let's get home and get him cleaned up. We can stop at an outlet on the way to the lakes."
"Thanks Dad." Hermione said smiling. She began to gently wake up Harry.
Mr Granger pulled the car onto the driveway where Mrs Granger was waiting. "Harry." Mr Granger said opening the door and helping Harry out of the car. "This my wife Emma."
"Hello Harry." Mrs Granger said kindly, trying not to show alarm at the blood stains on his dirty clothes and matted hair. "Please come inside. Hermione, why don't you go and finish packing. Dad and I will look after Harry." Hermione did as she was told. The elder Grangers led Harry to the kitchen table and Mr Granger went about making a cup of tea while Mrs Granger talked to Harry about his life at the Dursleys. "This isn't the first time your uncle has been violent towards you is it?" Mrs Granger asked gently.
"No." Harry said sadly. "It's been like this for years. I mean this is the worst it's ever been, but they have beaten me several times. Two years ago, I was locked in my room and fed cold soup through a cat flap once a day."
"Dear Lord." Mrs Granger lamented. "I am so sorry Harry. There are things we can do to help you, but they won't be pleasant I'm afraid."
"What do you mean?" Harry asked.
"Well, we can report these things to the police and the social services, who will investigate. They will undoubtably remove you from the Dursleys strait away and they will have to go over your history in that home."
"Would I come here?" Harry asked.
"That would depend Harry." Mr Granger explained. "We wouldn't object, in fact we would most certainly offer to take you in, but we are not registered foster care givers."
"But they will ask where I go to school." Harry protested. "And then I will be guilty of revealing the magical world to the muggles."
"I didn't consider that Harry." Mrs Granger said. "I don't know what we'll do then." She went on. "Because we cannot in good conscience let you go back there, but we also can't legally keep you here without informing the authorities."
Mr Granger set the tea down in front of Harry. "But let's not worry about all of that right now eh?" He said gently. "Drink your tea and get yourself a shower. You will feel better. I should be able to dig out a pair of jeans and a couple of t-shirts for you while we sort something else out."
"I don't have any muggle money to buy anything new."
"Not to worry Harry." Mr Granger smiled. "I reckon we can stretch to a few bits and bobs."
"Thank you." Harry said draining his cup.
"No worries son." Mr Granger said. "Come on then." He led Harry through the house pointing out various rooms. The living room, master bedroom and Hermione's room, who was putting various muggle clothes into a small suitcase. "Here's the spare room." Mr granger opened the door. "I'll leave you some stuff on the bed to change into." He led Harry to the bathroom. "Shower is in there. Shampoo soap and all that sort of thing is in the stall and there are towels in that cupboard."
Harry showered quickly, rinsing the dirt and blood from his body. He wrapped himself in a towel and left the bath room. No sooner did he step out he walked straight into Hermione.
"Oh God I'm sorry Harry." Hermione said. "I wasn't expecting you to come out just then."
"It's ok." Harry said, going red with embarrassment. "I'm just going to go get dressed."
"What?" Hermione said, unable to take her eyes of Harrys torso. "Right, yes, carry on." Harry walked away. 'Carry on?' Hermione thought to herself. 'Get a grip Granger!' she went on. 'Get a grip? Yeah right you wish.'
Half an hour later Harry came back to the kitchen dressed in a pair of jeans and a simple blue t-shirt of Mr Grangers.
"Much better Harry." Mrs Granger approved. "Are we all ready?" Everyone indicated that they were. "All right then. Let's get a move on, we're going to stop at a shopping centre just off the motor way to get some stuff for Harry and then we're off." The four piled into Mrs Grangers Range Rover and they drove north.
It took an hour for the Grangers to arrive at the shopping centre. Hermione and her mother led Harry into the shop. "All right," Mrs Granger said. "You're going to want some trousers, shorts and some t-shirts. A couple of hoodies or sweaters as well."
"I will pay you back." Harry said. "I don't have any muggle money, but I do have a big vault at Gringotts."
"Let's not worry about that." Mrs Granger said. "Might be a good idea to get some swim wear and possibly some hiking boots. We tend to be a bit outdoorsy when we're in the Lake District." She went on. "Do you need some new socks and underwear?"
Harry muttered yes in embarrassment.
"Right, boxers or briefs." Mrs Granger ploughed on non-pulsed.
'Neither.' Hermione thought.
It took nearly half an hour to get Harry kitted out then it was back in the car and off north again.
"Where are we going?" Harry asked.
"Keswick." Hermione told him. "It's in the lake district. Oh, Harry it's beautiful up there. We rent a cottage and go hiking in the mountains and around the lakes. Shopping in the villages and just spend time away from it all."
"Sounds lovely." Harry said.
"It is Harry." Mr Granger told him. "We tell stories around the fire some evenings. We've been going there every year since Hermione was a baby."
Meanwhile in the Headquarters of the Order of a Phoenix Dumbledore was meeting with his network of spy's. "We must find Harry." He impressed upon them all. "I believe he may be hiding with Miss Granger. It was most certainly her magical signature that cast the memory charms."
"A fourth-year casting memory charms Albus?" Mad-Eye Moody exclaimed. "I find that very hard to believe."
"You do not know Miss Granger Alastor." Dumbledore said. "She is truly the brightest young woman to come through Hogwarts since Lily Evans."
"Right, so let's get someone out to this Granger girls and bring them in." Moody pressed.
"That will be a last resort." Dumbledore said. "Mr Potter has experienced so much violence; I would be loathed to take him by force." He went on. "No, Harry has to want to come in out of the cold."
"But we can't leave him to the mercy of the Ministry." Mad Eye objected.
"This is true." Dumbledore conceded. "I think I will approach the Grangers myself and explain the situation. But I will wait a few days. I believe Harry will be safe with them. I do not want to risk the Ministry following me." He went on. "Arthur, would you continue to liaise with our assets within the ministry. If they find Harry and plan to make a move, I want to know about it immediately."
"Of course, Albus." Mr Weasley nodded. "But you know this could expose those assets or perhaps even me."
"That is regrettable Arthur, but desperate times call for desperate measures."
"What about surveillance of the Grangers home?" Remus Lupin suggested. "Sirius and I can switch off watching the house. Sirius can disguise himself incredibly well, as you know."
"I do not want to utilise Sirius talents in the field at the moment." Dumbledore said. "We know that Voldemort's forces know about his talents, and it is possible that this information has been fed to the ministry as well."
The meeting continued for a while longer before breaking up. Remus left the meeting and returned to his flat in the centre of Manchester where he briefed Sirius on what has happened. The pair disagreed with Dumbledores approach and decided that they would try and make contact first.
