Less than lovers, more than friends

"Please, what is his status? Give it to me straight. I can take it."

"He is healthy." The nurse replied back.

"Are you messing with me?! Look at him." Wave half snapped, while pointing at the huge and muscular fox man, who just waved at them silently.

"I know. I am baffled myself. His testosterones levels are about five times the upper limits of bulls! However, here is the thing: When someone abuses steroids, the body is pushed past their limits and the internal organs suffer trying to keep up. For example, an "Enlarged Heart" is a common sickness for this kind of people, where the heart needs to grow bigger to pump enough oxygen to keep the body working correctly, but it is barely keeping up with it, even when relaxed. His heart is huge, but it is not showing any of these signs. Same with the veins, they are huge, but they are not showing any sign of being overly delated like other bodybuilders."

"Guess I have a lot room for growth then." Tails added, looking at his arm and tensing it and relaxing, enjoying the 'bounce' his muscle made every time.

"About that, your myostatin levels are also really high. This is the 'growth stopper' hormone. That is another thing that steroids mess with, but his aren't. Unless he actually start taking some, you aren't getting any bigger. You can get stronger, just not more muscular." This seemed to upset the male quite a bit.

"Maybe I actually need to start juicing myself."

"Don't you dare!" Wave ordered and he just smiled and chuckled at her.

"I was just joking." He replied. Wave was not amused.

"Anyway, beyond steroids, his muscles don't have nanomachines, or fake silicon muscles that needed to be operated into him, no hormonal disfunction. Everything is just natural in him. Clarify me something, your boyfriend here is Tails the Fox, right?" This question made Wave blush a bit.

"He is not my boyfriend." She said through gritted teeth.

"Oh." The nurse said, then pulled out a paper and started writing in it. "Well, I asked because people like him and his friends are truly extraordinary. They have traveled to other planets for crying out loud. Either this is something alien to us that he caught, or this is part of that special potential he and his friends just seem to have." Once the nurse finished writing, the paper was handed to the fox.

"Why would I take medicine if everything is fine?"

"That's my phone number." This shook both of them a bit.

"Wait what?!" Wave was the most offended.

"I mean, do you have any idea how many muscle guys look like superheroes on the outside and are dying in the inside? I want the one health muscle guy I have seen in my life."

"You can't just do that."

"Why? Does he have a girlfriend?" This almost look like she had verbally punched Wave. "I mean, you just said yourself you weren't." Another hit.

"I think we are done here, thanks for everything. I can pay with card on the way out right? Thanks" He didn't actually wait for answers. He just got up, walked to the exit, grabbed Wave's arm, who didn't put any resistance at all, and left the room.

"Seriously, way to make a scene." Tails complained.

"Yeah, sorry. I was just surprised." He wasn't used to Wave looking this down.

"Want to check the paper?"

"Why?"

"The nurse took too long. I don't think this is just a phone number."

He then opened it and let Wave read it with him.

'That purple birdie is such a cutie! She likes you. Does she like girls too? Can you set me up with her for a date?' Tails finished reading before her and he crumpled the paper. "Oh, what was with that reaction?" Despite not fully reading it, she got the grasp of it.

"Forget it."

"Is that jealousy that I smell?" To her surprised, he extended his arm, wrapped around her shoulders and softly, pulled her closer to himself. She just let go of a small 'eeeeep' sound, but didn't reject the gesture or resist it at all, taking in the warmth his body gave hers.
