"Come on, handsome. Tell me!" Wave asked Tails. The fox was laying on his back on the bed, while Wave was laying on top of him. Her chin landed comfortably on his lower chest area, her boobs squished against his rock hard abs, legs spread almost 180 degrees around his torso softly rubbing his obliques. Tails, on his part, was lifting his head, trying his best to look at her eye to eye, despite the awkward positioning.

"Wave, I love everything about you."

"Screw that. I need an actual answer. Don't you trust me?"

"Not with that. You already have too much power over me. I can't let you have more of that."

Wave puffed her cheeks, which only made the fox think she was very cute. "Come on. When did you actually fall in love with me?"

"You don't need to know that."

"Yes, I do. You know when I fell in love with you."

"Because you chose to tell me. I am choosing not to."

"FINE!" Wave, tired of this, just scream and stormed away. "Enjoy spending the night alone with your hand!" She screamed again and slammed the door.

Tails, after the ringing on his sensible ears ended, just chuckled at her actions. The truth was, he always had a crush on the swallow. The best female mechanic that he had ever met. Pretty, smart, adventurous. Meeting her in person was a bit of a wake up slap, but the feelings never fully left. At the same time, she felt unattainable. Until that one day...

"No, I have not seen foxy today. What of it?" Wave said.

"He is avoiding us." Amy replied. "He had a date. But he returned upset and then just started avoiding everyone."

"And you thought he would come to me to cry about it?"

"We are running out of ideas where he could be." Amy admitted.

"Well, I have not seen him yet."

"Thanks anyway. Ring us if you see him." Amy asked before flying away on her board.

Wave waited a minute before going back to her blimp. She had lied to the pink hedgehog, as the fox had actually came here earlier and asked her if he could stay for a while. He knew she was alone, with Jet and Storm outside doing races, so they had the place for themselves. So, Tails wasted no time and started hitting their weight room. Wave now found her bench-pressing about 80 kg, thought it seemed that he could not push the thing anymore.

Wave could have gone and help him with it, but instead chose to do something different. "Hey Shorty, Amy just came in here, looking for you. Something about a terrible date. In a scale from 1 to 10, how bad?"

Tails obviously couldn't reply to her, struggling and barely holding the weight. However, something changed, as the bar was pushed up, finishing the motion, then he continued with his next rep, and the next. She could tell that it wasn't that it was suddenly easier to do his workout, his arms still trembled like jelly, he was just using anger to ignore the pain. Once he finished the set and sat down, Wave walked closer to him.

She really shouldn't keep calling him Shorty, as he had grown tall enough that they see eye to eye now and he had bulked up a bit, enough that his toned arms were twice as big as hers, with nice broad shoulders and pecs. She used to remember when he was shorter than her and even slimmer.

Tails then glared at her, in silence. Whatever had happened, it had really upset him. So, Wave just limited herself to hand him a bottle of water and a towel and walked away.

Days later

It took no time at all for Wave to find out about the date. Apparently, the girl really didn't like him one bit. She just wanted to meet Sonic personally. It wasn't the first time a girl had tried to pull this on the fox, but most girls also never even bother to learn his name, much less manage to convincingly fake date him for half the year. No wonder he was particularly upset about it.

"This is a dumb idea." Wave said out loud.

"A very dumb one." Wave jumped on her spot, not expecting him yet.

"You are early." She admitted.

"Sorry, everyone is a bit suffocating because of that girl." He then eyed at the punching bag with the photo on it. Wave couldn't rip the photo fast enough.

"Sorry. I just wanted to make sure you felt better."

"It's fine. I just have to accept that everyone would just rather spend time with Sonic instead of me." Tails tried not to, but he was clearly sad about it.

"Well, I would choose you over him every time."

"WHHAATT?!" Tails was genuinely surprised by this, turning red.

She wasn't expecting that kind of reaction of him. "Well, yeah. Not that many mechanics around up to our skill level." Wave tried to downplay the situation. "Don't you ruin it though." She pointed her finger to the bridge between his eyes. He just fixated on it. "I strive to become smarter and stronger, so I expect you to do so too." Wave tried to sound stern and intimidate the fox a bit. It didn't work, who just seemed so smile wider and wider.

"Guess we should start working out then. Can't sleep on my laurels." Tails said. Wave could this little exchange finally lifted up the heavy weight off his shoulders. Wave was probably not too serious about it, but it meant the world to the fox.
