The fierce smirk on Nanashi's face can only be contested by his overwhelming excitement. Here he is, standing across from Flynn and ready to cross blades once more as training for the upcoming UA Sports Festival. Their friends are sitting off to the side, curious to see how the match will go in this new world.
Flynn chuckles at Nanashi's eagerness, "Well, I can see someone is ready. Let's not waste any time then. Come at me, Nanashi!"
Nanashi doesn't need to be told twice. Drawing his blade and gun, he charges forward and feints a swing as he fires at Flynn's shoulder. However, Flynn is well accustomed to his brother's battle habits by now and ducks away as he sees Nanashi raising his gun.
Drawing his own blade, Flynn takes it in two hands and slashes at Nanashi who catches it with his sword. Shifting to the side, Nanashi forces Flynn to overextend which leaves him open to the harsh kick Nanashi swiftly follows up with.
Following as Flynn stumbles back, Nanashi casts a quick Zan beneath his own feet to propel himself over Flynn, firing at him in the air to leave him on the defensive. Landing behind Flynn Nanashi prepares to slash at him, but has to hastily parry as Flynn swiftly turns and retaliates.
Grunting as he stumbles back, Nanashi growls out, "Wild Hunt!"
The ghostly procession appears and readies a Grand Tack, but Flynn rushes forward and cuts them down as his Katana releases a flash of energy. Scowling, Nanashi raises his gun and fires a pair of shots at Flynn's sword hand, trying to disarm him.
Flynn lets out a grunt of pain as the shots land and his blade begins to fall. Seizing this chance, Nanashi rushes him and thrusts his blade forward. In a flash of light, the Katana reappears in Flynn's hand as he uses it to bat Nanashi's blade aside.
Casting a Zionga between them to prevent any followup attacks, Nanashi recovers and hurls a cast of Bufula at Flynn. However, the older Messiah easily bats the ice magic to the side and rushes forward to meet Nanashi head on.
Clashing blades again, Nanashi leans heavily into his blade while discreetly summoning Take-Mikazuchi behind his opponent. The Demon stabs at Flynn with its blade, but only meets air as Flynn rolls to the side and leaves Nanashi off balance. In that split second Nanashi is distracted, Flynn once more cuts down his summoned Demon.
Nanashi grits his teeth, frustrated. He had always known Flynn was good, but this? It would seem Masakado's Katana is much more powerful in this world than Nanashi gave it credit for. Honestly, he was a little jealous that Flynn was the one to get Masakado as a divine sponsor.
Shaking it off, Nanashi rushes to engage with Flynn again, brainstorming tactics. One Demon at a time isn't cutting it, he needs more. However, his strongest Demons take too much energy for him to currently have multiple active, so he'll have to settle for quantity over quality.
As he trades blows with Flynn, Nanashi digs deep, the rhythm of combat fueling his focus. He's attempted this before, but thus far has had… less than satisfactory results (he'll never forget the sight of only summoning half of Tlaloc). Digging deep into his energy stores Nanashi calls on two Demons that he knows are reliable at their strength level, but will likely push him to the limit.
Ducking a swing from Flynn, Nanashi can feel his smirk return as Okuninushi leaps over him to clash blades with Flynn and Balor calls forth an Agidyne from behind the Samurai. Grunting in pain as the flames wash over him, Flynn pushes Okuninushi back, only for Nanashi to jump in and deflect his strike before he can finish the demon off.
Shoving Flynn backwards into Balor, Nanashi follows closely behind as Balor casts Megaton Press on Flynn. From all sides, Flynn's defenses are getting worn down. However, before Nanashi can attempt to claim victory Flynn utters three simple words that turn the tide back in his favor.
"Curse Thy Enemy."
Nanashi is blown backwards, barely staying on his feet as his Demons are annihilated.
Breathing heavily, Nanashi calls out to Flynn, "You didn't tell me Masakado gave you more than just his sword!"
Flynn chuckles, "I thought I'd leave it as a surprise for you, in case you managed to back me into a corner."
Nanashi grimaces. He can tell Flynn is getting tired, but he's already far past that point himself. He only has enough energy for a few more spells, and Demons are off the table at this point. Taking a deep breath, Nanashi switches his sword to a reverse grip and readies himself.
Over with the others, Hallelujah mutters to himself, "Oh boy, here we go again."
Charging forward, Nanashi feints with his gun, catching Flynn off guard with a harsh kick to the chest. Using a cast of Zanma to propel himself into the air, Nanashi comes down blade first on Flynn, who can barely deflect the strike. Shoving his gun past Flynn's guard, Nanashi fires a pair of point blank shots at Flynn to throw him off, while the younger Messiah lands in a crouch and sweeps his opponent's legs.
Before Nanashi can follow up, a blast of energy sends him flying backwards. Struggling back to his feet, Nanashi freezes as he feels the point of Masakado's blade at his throat. He stares Flynn down for a few moments before conceding with a frustrated groan.
"Ugh, fine, I give!"
Flynn sheaths his blade and pats Nanashi on the head, "You did quite well this time, and from what I can tell you seemed to glean something from this experience. Excellent work."
Nanashi scowls as he joins Flynn in a walk back over to their friends, "I still wanted to win though…"
A/N: Here we are, another chapter done. We have some preparation for the Sports Festival, Nanashi furthering his own abilities, and look at what Flynn is capable of. Hope you enjoyed, and I'll see you around.
