A/N:
It's heeeerrrreeee. It's the moment you've been waiting for.
Noticing how red his face had become and how close she was, she immediately backed up."S-Sorry, was that too far?"
he fake coughed, covering his smile with his fist. "W-well, if you love me so much..." shifting to the side, he beckoned, patting his hand in the empty space. "Would you come to this side?"
"Huh?" She blinked. He invited her over? For what? Oh no, did she say too much? "Uh, okay." With all these embarrassing thoughts hovering over her head, she stood up.
But as soon as she did, the cabin shook once more and she lost her footing, plunging her straight into Nate's chest. Her face and ears flared when she realized, and her breathing was quick and light. Her hands are clutching onto his shirt and, it may be her imagination, but her hair may have been played with.
It seems there was a minor transmission from the ferris wheel operator, but they couldn't hear it from the sound of their beating hearts.
She looked up and her heart skipped another beat, meeting his hazel eyes with her own, bearing into each other, but feeling happy instead of any pressure. Unconsciously, her lips parted as her head leaned forward and–
"Oh!"
Their headwear bump into each other. Embarrassed, Yancy got up and hesitantly sat next to him, trying to ignore what happened by humming to herself (badly). It was very clearly spelled on her face.
Nate on the other hand simply takes a hand from her lap and smiles encouragingly. He knows what she wants and he wants to give it to her. "Want to try again?"
"Eh-! Uhm-! Uh, is- is it okay?" In response, he removes his visor and flicks it to the other side. Yancy, still feeling bashful, covered her face with her hat and vented her to it, before setting it next to his visor.
She took a breath through her nose, and as she mentally prepared herself she remembered an earlier conversation with Curtis.
"So, have you ever kissed before?"
"Huh, Kis–? N-no, I haven't. Have you?"
He smirked. Yancy knew, it was the type of face he'd make whenever he 1-ups her, and that suddenly made her very jealous. "No, I haven't." Oh. "You see, I watched a romantic movie with my family a few nights ago, so I asked my manager. After hearing that I thought 'Yancy really likes someone, maybe I could give her some tips?' But actually you two aren't even dating, right?" he says with a smirk.
"Hrmmm... We will at some point!" Yancy pouted, adding one (I hope,) afterward. "I'd hate to receive romantic advice from my rival, but... Please teach me, Curtis!"
"Hmm? teach you what?"
"P...Please teach me how to k-kiss!"
"Ohh, that's what you want?" he teased "It's easy, actually! All you have to do is..."
With a calm exhale, her anxiety seemed to disappear, replaced by a sense of growing love. She felt calm, somewhat. As her eyelashes flutter open and her sky-colored eyes look at Nate who, now that's coming to this, finds himself rather flustered, trying his hardest to not flail around like an idiot. and doesn't quite know how to do this.
"It's okay." Yancy whispered. "Just follow me."
Slowly, she lifted her hand. Steadily, she cupped his cheek. Gently, she caressed him, feeling the surface as much as can. His scruffy hair tickled her skin in a rhythm of her own choosing. She nodded, giving him the go ahead to do the same. He lifted his arm, only to feel her own, giving his warmth to her.
Her skin felt light, smooth, and nice, unlike his own. Still, he could feel her fingers twiddling in whimsy, giving him a sign that he's on the right track. And for that, he raises his other hand to grasp at her pink locks of hair, something was always curious about, and found surprisingly thick, yet puffy as well.
Her hair danced between his fingers, thinking about how smooth it is, how fun it was, that it might even be addicting. Yancy as well, wanted him to keep holding, to keep playing for as long as he wanted.
Then he reached her cheek, caressing her like she did. He felt her burning ear under her thumb, and she did the same, sending a matching sensation that this is what I want to do with you.
With her other hand, she takes his other cheek, deciding at last that the wait was enough. After all, they don't know when the ride will continue, rendering this play pointless. She pulls his face closer and leans in herself. Nate opened his mouth to breathe, to prepare for the moment for the favor he wanted to give.
But with a short bump, their foreheads join together, and she whispered to his face:
"I love you."
Before he could respond, she pushed herself into him, locking their lips.
Nate's eyes shot open. The moment their lips met, electricity shot both ways, capturing this moment in their minds for the rest of their lives. Yancy leaned further in, and so did Nate, their passion for each other taking over their instincts.
Yancy caressed his cheek with her thumb, pulling him closer, wanting every taste of him. His boyish lips fit right in hers, moans escaped her mouth which only roused them even more. Nate, too, found himself not wanting to let go - one hand grasping hers, and the other reaching the back of her head, with locks of hair between his fingers while pulling her closer.
However, Yancy made a mistake.
After months of calling, flirting, laughing, walking together, pining for each other, getting their first kiss high up on the Rondez-View Ferris Wheel where the only audience was the sun, naturally, her love drive had increased. She was so full of love that her instincts were overwhelmed by love and lust.
The ferris wheel hung in the air indefinitely. There was no one watching. Her body couldn't take it anymore, and her tongue, with full uncertainty, yet swiftly slipped in.
Nate's eyes almost shot open, and shut again, releasing a surprised grunt while Yancy moaned, not realizing what's she's doing. It was only when she felt his own that her breath was caught. She valiantly fought her instincts to notice that both of them were breathing irregularly that they ended up parting abruptly.
But then, as the world slowed down, Yancy gasped, noticing a rope of saliva connecting them. In a major panic, her body moved on its own using the desperation move One Hundred Arms to quickly disperse it before Nate noticed. Luckily, he missed it.
That, and it provided some much needed fanning to the room, as well as put shame on every Machamp who knows Close Combat.
Feeling the sweat and tears in this small, enclosed space, they looked at each other with eyes full of... conflicted feelings.
"Sorry–"
"Uh–"
"..."
"..."
Both of them quickly retracted to their sides and looked at their reflection, panting heavily through their covered wet mouths. Their minds were in such chaos at this point they could barely hear their own thoughts.
"Holy... is that what a kiss feels like? That was intense!" Nate exhaled to himself.
"Oh my god, Why did I do that?! What moron would go all out on their first kiss?!" Yancy groaned.
Time felt endless with how long they've been... exasperated. Nate was sorting his thoughts while Yancy wanted to get out and pretend nothing happened. The mechanic sure was taking his sweet time.
Eventually, someone spoke first. "W-Well, That was... something," Nate said. He noticed how unkempt her hair had become and stifled a laugh. "I've done a lot of things on this journey, but this one was very... special."
"P-Please forget about this, it was terrible." Yancy just couldn't meet his gaze. "I got too intense and stuff, you know?" she faked a giggle, but there was no going back.
"Don't worry, I like things getting intense."
"..."
"In battles I mean. Pokémon battles."
"Right, that makes more sense, ahahaha..."
"Hahaha..."
"..."
"..."
"...It sure is taking a while to get this up and running, huh?" Nate tapped the glass with his elbow.
Yancy nodded. The blush would not go away. "I don't mind being stuck with you, though."
"Yeah, me too."
Silence...
Yancy twiddled with her fingers. She tries looking out the window to clear her mind, but all she sees are the bright lights of Nimbasa city and her own reflection. Nate looks out from his side, but all he sees is the forest that surrounds the Entralink area. Maybe thinking of battle strategies could calm him down? But it's not like he knows who the Elite four would be...
His mind raced back to the kiss, and the pairs of Luvdisc he caught in the act. "Hey, Yancy..." Nate started.
Once more, and with a nice push, the ferris wheel started to turn at a slower pace than usual.
"Hello, this is the operator speaking. We have remedied the problem somewhat, but due to the lack of electricity, the ride may be a bit slow to your liking. The ride will be closed tomorrow for repairs. Sorry for the inconvenience today, and thank you for your patience."
Two big sighs were heard, one of relief, the other of both relief and mild annoyance.
"Oh yeah, did you want something?" Yancy asked.
"Ah, erm..." Nate stuttered. He didn't know if he should ask at this point, now that they've started to move.
"Yes? I don't mind listening. I mean, whatever it is, it's much less embarrassing than... you know." Oh yeah, that's true. This fact gave him a boost in confidence.
Either way, there's no better time to ask this so here he goes. "Well, Since we're stuck here and, um, it might take a while 'till we get down, so... ." he blushed, but only a little, and his eyes darted away once, but he looked her in the eye. She was the nervous one instead. "Would you like to... y'know, try again?"
"Try again?"
"The kiss."
"The Kis–!" She expected him to stutter, but he just said it with a straight face!
Ah, but of course. Now that they're in a relationship maybe, that means there's gonna be a lot more kisses, right? Kisses, hugs, feeding each other, things she would like to try, right? And as her boyfriend, only he can give her those things, and have them, too.
"Is that okay?"
he nodded. "Well, I am your boyfriend now, so, it's only natural."
"R-right, of course." Well, no use thinking about it too much. they'll get used to it sooner or later.."
Yancy only noticed it now. "Since, you're my boyfriend, means that I'm your g-girlfriend , right?" Nate gave her his usual toothy smile, and slowly but surely, things are going back to normal - rather, a new normal.
"Then," She hugs the glass of the cabin they're in and bashfully fiddles with her fingers. "Can you come closer?"
And so both of them did, getting as close as comfortably possible. Yancy raised her hand, awkwardly indecisive on where to start, so Nate decided to take the initiative.
Though thinking that, he didn't quite know what to do, so he thought to repeat his action. He reached his empty hand towards her cheek, gently brushing with his nails and sending pleasurable signals to her brain.
Once more, the atmosphere changed. Her five senses heightened and her heart rate went up as if she had a fever, but a good one. She wants to make use of that for as long as she can.
Her slim fingers slipped between his, and one after the other they folded onto each other. She playfully rubbed her thumb across the back of his hand, feeling its texture.
With his thumb tucking her hair behind her ear, he made the first move and kissed her. Once again, emotions flared, but this time, she didn't feel the need to satiate her lust, and simply closed her eyes and let herself melt into the kiss, letting him be the director. Turns out, that wasn't a bad idea.
As they carefully breathed, Yancy's mind was full of thoughts as she thanked the universe for everything that led to this moment. Throughout this kiss, there was a single, clear thought that blaired through her mind.
I'm so lucky...
Unlike their messy first time, they were able to put their love before all else. They enjoyed their second first kiss to the fullest.
The kiss lasted quite a while, probably even longer than their first. Neither of them wanted to stop, but their breath eventually caught and they parted ways with a noticeable squeak. Yancy opened her lush blue eyes to look at him as they panted into each other's faces, feeling every warm breath while her their minds caught up.
Before he spoke, Yancy kissed him one more time for a few more seconds just to get it out of her system, before she laid her head on his chest. Nate simply smiled and wrapped his arm around her, holding her close.
No words were exchanged until the end of the ride. They know.
Nate and Yancy stood on the solid, steady ground of Nimbasa City. After moving onto the grass they thoroughly stretched their limbs after having been contained in a tiny, shaky box for over thirty minutes.
"Man, that was tough!" Nate stretched his legs, as they have been especially sore. "I think it may be a while 'till I ride this again. Not like I'll have time, training for the league and all."
"I agree," Yancy giggled, "I'm also really busy next week thanks to a guest coming for work." She made cute noises while she pulled her arms forward. "But still, I'm so glad we were finally able to confess our feelings. My heart feels so light after that!"
"I could say the same." One more back stretch, and Nate was back on his feet. "Even if it had its 'rocky' moments, I still had fun." Yancy stifled a giggle. "Say..."
"Yes?"
"Since it's already dark, would you like me to walk you home, my lady?" He made an elegant bow while lending his hand, but she could feel his smile. Somehow, he sounds more lively than ever.
"Oh, really?" He nodded. "Well, I, now that I think about it, I don't think I mind if you knew where I lived." Looked away, having all kinds of thoughts about Nate coming to her house for one reason or another. "Actually..."
Nate noticed her devious smile. "Heyyy, what's with that face?"
" Wellll ...Since you came here straight from that life-threatening experience today, you must be very tired, riiiight? "
Tired.
Tired.
Tired, tired, tired, tired, tired...
As soon as the mention of that forbidden word, Nate's face aged, like, 50 years. "Woah, where'd those eye bags come from?"
"Really? You'd let me do that?" Even his voice sounded old and creaky!
"Yeah, my family knows about you, so I'm sure they'd be happy to meet you!" His face regained some life.
"Is that so? Usually, when you invite someone of... when you invite your partner to your house, their first response would be 'Wh-what? It's too early to meet your parents, and I wouldn't want to bother you' etc etc." he waved dismissively, then peeked with one eye. "But seriously? You'll let me stay?"
"Uh-huh."
A moment of realization as the cogs at the back of his brain began to move (unrelated to the Pokemon battle cogs in the forefront) complete with a ding! And then he clapped his hands and bowed, "you're a savior! Thank you so much!"
"It's the least I could do." She sounded nonchalant, yet those pretty love-colored Flowers were hovering over her head. On the inside, of course she was squealing uncontrollably while cogs ran at double speed. Eeek! No way no way no way! Nate?! In my house?! Miinnneee?!
"Well then," She cooly tried to compose herself and held onto his arm like a future bride. "shall we?"
"Yeah, let's go."
And so, with their arms Interlocked, the newly formed couple of Nate and Yancy walked out of the amusement park, as a whole new world of amusement opened its doors. While Nate was busy flirting with the city lights (And by lights, he meant Yancy,) she on the other hand, was enjoying each step listening to his voice, touching the skin on his arm, and humming along.
"Y'know, I don't think I noticed how bright and pretty the lights are. I'm either here for the musicals or for seeing you. Isn't that right, Yance?"
"Yance?" she stopped. "That sounds so silly. Is that even a real word?"
"I dunno," He rubbed his thumb and finger to his chin. "First time I've used it."
They blinked at each other a few times before they laughed it off.
"Ru... Ruri is fine." she suddenly said.
"Huh?"
"Even though I was born here, my mom was originally from a different region. So, I don't mind if you... also call me Ruri."
"Ruri, huh?" Ruri's ears immediately turned hot and looked away, embarrassed to hear that name come out of his mouth. And of course he noticed. "Ruri, huh? Ruru? Yeah, That's a nice name. Isn't it, Ruri? "
"Y-Yes.." More squealing ensued on the inside, and her face and ears were noticeably hot. "Oh, you know, that would also make it easier when I'm off my job for... reasons."
"Your job, huh?" Like always, he doesn't inquire. Even though he knows.
"I promise to tell you about it next time, okay?" She suddenly said. "Since we're dating now, I think it's alright."
Dating, huh?
Nate and Yancy had been going back and forth, holding numerous calls, learning each other's hobbies, relationships, likes and dislikes, flirting, blushing and laughing together. All of that they started dating.
But now that they're official, Not much will really change, only that they'll be doing all that and more. With context, "dating" sounds like such a nice, fancy word, doesn't it?
They do, and they like it.
Yancy giggled with glee and gave him a nuzzle, and Nate replied with a quick peck on her head, filling them both with warm, fuzzy feelings, that of love.
She's glad he's alright. And he's glad she's happy.
Sorry for taking so long on this. By the time Ch. 1 was finished I was already about 75% finished with Ch. 2, but there were a lot of setbacks.
Like how my nerves hurt again because of overusing my arm, and by the end of December I had to focus on my finals for me senior project. Now that I'm done with it, I am 1 semester away from gaduation.
Other than that, thank you so much eveyrone who read and commented! It's such a nice rarepair stuck deep under everything else in the fandom. I'm glad I was able to finish this properly for everyone, and again, sorry for taking so long.
I'll be really happy if you tell me how you feel about this! And I hope you'll continue to read my future stories as well!
