Halloween
The Revenge of Michael Myers Unfulfilled
A/N: I meant I didn't like the ending of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Okay, now, let's try and add more to the story as it unfolds.
"…The US National Guard is sending over someone they think can help us with our Halloween problem," she had overheard a policeman say to Dr. Loomis. "A man who's had experience in dealing with situations similar to our own. They classified him as "The Corrector Protector", good at protecting, and better at killing if necessary, and it'll be necessary if Michael does come back."
But can this guy really protect me from him? Jamie thought, looking at her costume for this Halloween: A pink and red princess outfit. Can he stop Michael, who's unstoppable?

The sight of a middle-aged, black man walking in front of a house that was the address he was given to show up at was nothing short of odd because he was carrying an old duffel bag and wearing a military-themed poncho. He ranged the doorbell and awaited a response.
The door opened and Mrs. Carruthers showed up.
"May I help you?" She asked him.
"Are you Darlene Carruthers, the adopted mother of Jamie Lloyd-Carruthers?" He asked her.
"Yes, I am."
"Christopher Roots," he introduced himself to her. "The US National Guard has assigned me as your daughter's bodyguard against the man known as Michael Myers."
Darlene nodded and let him inside the house.
"You have a nice home, ma'am," he praised her.
"Thank you. Is there anything I can get you?"
"I would like to meet Jamie, if I may," he requested.
She led him upstairs and right to her daughter's room. To get her attention, she knocked on the door.
"Jamie," she started, "he's here to meet you."
Slowly turning around, the little girl saw the man that was assigned to look after her until her uncle was stopped from killing her.
"Hello, sir," she greeted him.
"Hello," he responded. "How are you doing today?"
"Nervous. Very nervous."
Christopher chuckled; it was okay to feel nervous, even in situations like this. If his information given to him about Michael Myers was solid, this notorious Boogeyman appeared only around Halloween Eve and Halloween Night from time to time, wore Shape masks, used knives as his weapon of choice and never spoke a word to anybody.

The night had fallen over Haddonfield, and while some people were out trick or treating for the sake of collecting free candy, Michael Myers, healed and armed with another knife, was out and about, waiting for his niece, the last of his family, to come out onto the streets where she would be vulnerable, defenseless, and at his mercy.
In the meantime, as Jamie was putting on her costume, all of Haddonfield was placed on a restricted curfew that made it so that everyone had to be indoors before ten, otherwise there would be jail time until seven in the morning on the first of November, and Christopher was also preparing for Halloween, checking the contents of his duffel bag and making sure everything was in order.
Let's see if I can protect her while correcting this mistake that has no future, he thought, putting on his own costume.

Rachel Carruthers thought Jamie looked beautiful in her princess costume, while the sight of a young, black man in a military-themed costume seemed out of touch these days, she guessed that he was okay, as well.
Christopher explained that he would be with Jamie as she went trick or treating until the curfew began, and would keep watch over her until Michael decided to show himself and make a move on Jamie.
"Not that it's any of my business, I guess," she told him, "but it's just you against that monster? You don't have, like, backup or the National Guard out on the streets?"
"Less is better, Ms. Carruthers," he told her. "Minimizing civilian casualties and collateral damage. In addition, the less that's explained, the better the situation can be resolved in due time tonight. If this guy's as bad as I'm told he is, he's gonna take his time out there while coming for Jamie, and when he does, I'll be there. It's either him…or me that bites the dust."
"So, you're what, exactly? You're…the prey's predator's…predator? The bait of the hunter's bait?" She asked him.
"That's the plan," he revealed.

The streets weren't as alive as they had been the previous year, but that was to be expected when a masked serial killer whose idea of trick or treating was to go and murder random people. With his bag handy and keeping a close watch over Ms. Lloyd-Carruthers as she walks from house to house collecting treats, Christopher looks around, on the lookout for Michael. The description was simple enough, as it was a constant look; the killer wore coveralls, usually stolen from the owners he murdered to take them, and completed with his signature Shape mask. If Michael was keeping this costume as his choice, he would stand out in a crowd…unless he decided to change up, but that wasn't likely to happen. Even so, Christopher couldn't leave anything to chance.
"So, you're the one they sent to protect Jamie?" He turns to his right and sees a man dressed in a trench coat like a classic detective, with several healed burns on his hands and face.
"Doctor Loomis," he addresses, keeping his eyes on Jamie as she returns. "Are you on the lookout for him, as well?"
"Yes. I may not be of use, but I still want to stop him."
"Don't sell yourself short, Dr. Loomis. Even those deemed useless are still useful if they can do something to contribute to a greater cause. If it comes to it, can I trust you to get Ms. Llyod to safety should he make himself known?"
"Isn't that your job?"
"Not if the goal to stop him is necessary…and it may be necessary."
"The curfew is starting soon. How can you be sure that he'll show himself?"
"Halloween night? Seems to have an agenda compelling him to target Ms. Lloyd among other people? If he wants to come after, he has to show himself. For tonight, the Curruthers' home is vacant until tomorrow afternoon with most of the family relocated to a hotel for their own safety; however long this long this night is to be, I'm making sure Michael Myers only has one target, and I'll be there to face him. If things go north, this could be the last Halloween for Michael Myers."
"And if tonight goes south?"
Christopher looks down at Jamie and says, "I'll make sure it doesn't go south."
To be continued…
