Chapter 4: A Walk Under the Stars
As the night wore on, the group began to break apart, some heading home while others lingered to chat. Rose and Mack stepped away from the crowd, hand in hand, as they walked toward a quieter part of the park.
"Tonight was amazing," Rose said, her heart still racing with excitement.
"I agree. It was nice to see everyone back," he replied, his voice soft.
The moon hung high in the sky, casting a gentle glow over the park. They found a beach beneath a sprawling oak tree and sat down, enjoying the peacefulness of the moment.
"Do you think we'll always have this?" the pink ranger asked, her voice barely above a whisper. There was vulnerability in her words as she considered the future.
He turned to her, his expression serious yet tender. "I think so. This is the bond we have- it's special. No matter where life takes us, we'll always have each other."
Rose smiled, feeling her heart swell with affection. "I hope you're right.
They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, watching the stars twinkle above them. Rose leaned her head above Mack's shoulder, feeling grateful for this moment, for him.
"Mack?" she said, breaking the silence.
"Yeah?" he replied, his voice warm and inviting.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course. Anything."
She felt her heart flutter with anticipation. "What do you see for us in the future?" It was a big question, one that could change everything. Mack took a deep breath, his gaze steady on hers.
"Honestly? I see a lot of adventures ahead. I see us supporting each other, growing together, and facing whatever challenges come our way."
Rose's heart raced at his words. "Really? You mean that?"
"Absolutely. I want to build something with you, Rosie. You make me happier than I ever thought possible," Mack said, his voice filled with sincerity.
Tears of joy welled in Rose's eyes as she took in his words. "I feel the same way. I've never been this happy before."
He reached out, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ears. "Whatever the future holds, I want you by my side."
At that moment, she felt a surge of love for him. Rose leaned in closer, resting her forehead against his. They shared a soft, lingering kiss that spoke volumes of their feelings for each other.
