Chapter 18

I couldn't think of anything. My head seems to have been locked. So I just stared, frightened.

Suddenly the golden lady laughed. She laughed really, really hard. Her voice was really high, too. Suddenly, everything in front of me popped. My eyes have been blinded by the strong golden light it was making.

"Stay here forever," said the golden lady. "I've been staying here for a long time. If you don't want to be my children, then be my prisoners!"

I tried to run, but I could see nothing but all blank in front of my eyes. I didn't know what to do; I just kept on running and running and running. But I didn't know where I was or where I was going. What can I do? I sighed. I don't want to die. I'm still young.

Just then, someone grabbed my arm. I screamed and tried to get out from them, but their hand was so powerful that I couldn't move a bit. I screamed and begged the witch to let me out. Just then, a hand reached out and covered my mouth. "Don't scream a bit unless you want to die." The voice was Cynelith's!

I felt so happy and grateful. Cynelith–she must be my god! I ran after her. We ran and ran and ran. Suddenly, I felt as if I had done this before. Not a fake memory; it was real. I felt like I had run with Cynelith before.

Just then, I felt my timepiece necklace become really, really hot. It was just like it was burning on my chest. And then suddenly–pop! It popped out again. In the heat, I felt like everything was getting farther and farther away from me…I fainted.

The next time I opened my eyes, I found myself floating in a pearl-white space. I couldn't move myself a bit, so I kept on floating there. But my mind soon found myself a big problem–have I been trapped by that golden witch forever?

Then I saw someone standing in front of me, so I sat up–suddenly I could move again. I looked at the girl's face. She looked a lot like Cynelith, but not exactly her. She had the same honey-colored hair like me, but her eyes were green like forests.

"Cynelith?" I tried to call the girl.

To my surprise, she nodded.
