As we made our way back to the couches that the men were sitting in, Eisuke was the first to complain.
"You two got some nerve to leave before I introduced myself." My mood already had soured, and I was not going to make my horrible trip in Japan even worse catering towards a spoiled man child. His British accent was not helping either, because it only added to his snobbish vibe.
"Honestly, I don't care who you are, because I will save us some time and tell you right now, that we are not going to be picking you," Ainsley responded. I guess my own self preservation instinct was still there because I quickly tried to do damage control right after.
"We already know who you are, Mr. Eisuke Ichinomiya. Your reputation precedes you."
"Oh yeah, aren't you two maids here?" Ota askes quickly. I looked over at Ainsley, and noticed that her face was turning more red by the second.
"Your face is red. Can you try harder not to laugh, because honestly, your face makes me want to laugh,"I whispered. I think I was losing my own mind with how this whole trip is turning out to be.
"They aren't maids. There are some fine details that are missing from the uniforms, but it is quite impressive. They even got the logo correct, but I would recognize the proportions of the sleeves and collar are a little off. I would notice those things, of course," Baba stated while winking at us. Ainsley turned to glare at me. At this point, I am not sure what emotions I was going through.
"If you aren't maids, then that poses a bigger issue. Why are you guys here and where did you come from?" Soryu asked as he pulled at his gun.
"Now, now, Sor, there is no need to get so violent! This is not how you would treat a lady!" Baba said with his own hands in the air. Ainsley, looking unfazed at the turn of events, started to say, "Well, when a man and woman love each other very much."
"Not that!" Soryu responded. Ainsley smiled and then whipped out the most snobbish British accent she can muster, "By whatever do you mean? Did you not just demand from me answers on where I came from? Oh no, are you feeling unloved, maybe your parents did not love you?" Dear God, it looked like Ainsley had a secret agenda to get me killed. Maybe I should start a rosary as well, because I need a miracle to get out of the grave that she was digging for me.
"What is all this fuss about? A man can't get a decent amount of sleep around here?" said another stranger's voice. It belonged to a man that had curly, gray hair that was unkept, just like the rest of his outfit.
"Oh look at who decided to join us," Soryu said dryly. I can see that there was no warm friendship there at least.
"Do something more interesting than a bunch of Americans and maybe I will."
"Who the hell are you even?" Ainsley asked. I could tell that she was starting to become inpatient about this.
"Oh yeah, Mamo, you haven't introduced yourself have you?" Ota started.
"I don't need to introduce myself to an annoying American detective," he replied. Now it was my turn to glare at Ainsley. How would he know that she was a detective?
Ainsley muttered a curse under her breath.
"Detective?" Soryu questioned.
"Are you really going to listen to a man that looks like he hasn't showered in a week?" She tried to save herself.
"That's rich coming from some people that haven't had the manners to introduce themselves yet," Mamo replied.
"My name is Kira," I jumped in to hopefully change the topic. We didn't need them to get more suspicious of us and make our lives harder than it already is. Ainsley rolled her eyes. Honestly, I wasn't sure what we could do with her, because of that Mamo guy. We didn't know what he knew, so despite me using a face name, I wasn't sure if Ainsley could do the same.
"You can ask that nasty looking guy over there, because it seems like he knows so much about me," Ainsley replied. It was my turn to roll my eyes, because what was the point of me trying to change the topic when she was going to throw it right back. Mamo looked more annoyed by the second.
"Just call the girl Annie or something basic for an American," he said.
"Excuse me? What part of me screams basic to you, you sleazy looking piece of trash? The name is Ainsley! And by the way, Mamo, your name sounds like a dog!"
"Maybe when I start caring about your opinion, I'll remember your name. And besides, let's get the record straight. The name is Mamoru Kishi. You don't get to call me Mamo." I looked over at Ainsley, and I could see the wheels turning in her head. I think I know who she is going to pick, and I almost feel sorry for him.
"So now all the introductions are done. Who are you picking?" Eisuke asked.
"Kira, why don't you go first?" Ainsley asked. I didn't bother to hide the dirty look I shot at her.
"...Soryu." Ainsley smiled, like she won a prize.
Soryu, on the other hand, was surprised for about a second, before irritation showed on his face.
"Then my choice is Mamo," Ainsley said excitedly. I gave him a pitying look.
"Nope, not happening, pick someone else," he replied.
"Now, Mamo, you can't refuse a woman's invitation," Baba jumped in. As he was getting started to explain more about why, Soryu started to leave. I looked at Baba questioning, because I didn't know what to make of it. Was this his way of refusing my choice? Baba understood instantly, and said, "Go with him. That means that he is okay with it." I nodded and left to follow Soryu.
Ainsley's POV
I didn't hide my own smile as I watched Hanh pick that mobster. Honestly, I do love the girl despite everything happening, but I felt that she needed something exciting in her life. And she is pretty clever, so I was sure that she would be able to handle it. And besides, he would already be suspicious of me, since that other guy blew my cover, but I am sure to get revenge for that. We all watched Hanh or Kira as they knew her, followed Soryu into his room. I turned to my guy, Mamoru, to see what he was going to do.
"Fine, come on," Mamo said before heading to his room. He plopped down on his couch the moment we got in. I just glared at him.
"What? You can do whatever you want, just don't get the attention of the others. And I am sure you know what would happen if you were to mess with Soryu."
"Are you ignorant or just stupid?" I asked.
"What?"
"You're a detective too. And you just blew my cover like that? You're just some dirty cop inside and out -" I wanted to rant to his face, but he just covered by month with his hand.
"Blowing your cover? That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. Next was your attempt to go undercover as a maid. Your friend was a better cop than you, and I am not even sure she is one! Or was this some good and bad cop show? I didn't know this was how Americans do it." his breath reeked of cigarettes. I grabbed the hand on my mouth to twist it behind and his back, and brought my leg up, making him fall.
"First, this doesn't apply to just Americans, but to the whole world. My type of person is a rare breed. You don't find this type of person anywhere in the world. And what makes you think a girl would allow you to talk back like that? I heard that Asian women in general are more submissive, but try that again, and see what happens! Quit being rude, especially when you need to brush your teeth."
His response was only some widened eyes, as I rolled mine and took a look around, noticing that there was only one bedroom. Luckily, this was a nice penthouse suite so I could just lock the door to the place so the bedroom can be for myself.
"Oh, and by the way, I am taking the bedroom. Sleep on the couch as an apology! K, bye!" I shouted before running into the bedroom and shutting the door, and locking it.
I didn't pay any more attention as I plopped on the bed to fall asleep, because this day has worn me out.
