Chloe tried not to squirm as the adults sat and chatted over dessert. Grown-up talk was so boring! she'd much rather be reading her Gabriel magazine,or playing with Adrien and Felix.
Well, mostly Adrien. Felix could get on her last nerve and all the others in between. At least Mommy had gotten her a new designer dress,a pretty buttercup yellow, and a red hair ribbon for her hair.
Emile,Adrien's mother, looked at the children and smiled. "If you want to go play, your excused."Thank goodness! "Felix, don't forget to give Chloe her present before we leave,"Amelie remind him. Felix scowled, but nodded.
"I wish you two were friends,"Adrien sighed, the more sensitive one of the group. Felix stared at Adrien as they climbed the large staircase in the foyer."Maybe I would if she wouldn't babble on about fashion so much!"
"I'll be a great designer, one day,and you need to start early to get ahead!Maybe if you didn't play so many magic tricks on me,we could be friends!"Chloe plopped down on the couch once in Adrien's room. Felix sighed. "I'll get the present,"he said. Adrien sat down next to Chloe, cuddling his soft black cat his mother had knitted especially for him.
Chloe started to get a bit excited. Maybe she'd get the latest handbag,or maybe a pair of designer shades?
"Here,"Felix said,handing Chloe a medium sized box. "If it's a magic wand,can I make you disappear?"she asked,and Adrien giggled."Very funny."
Chloe tore at the paper, finding a yellow bear with black and white stripes on his tummy, and button eyes. Chloe tried to hide her disappointment, but Felix saw right through it."Disappointed are we?""I'm to old for toys!"Chloe huffed, jumping up and glaring at Felix, before heading to the bathroom.
She had to admit, she kinda liked it,and when Mommy left for fashion shows, there was never anyone to give her hugs. Maybe that would change now. But what would she name her bear?Hmm….
Knock,knock. Chloe's head jerked up."May I come in?"Felix called."Okay."
Chloe narrowed her eyes as Felix entered holding a small stuffed bunny. Felix kneeled down next to her."You know, your not the only one with family issues. Having my bunny helps. I just wish his arm was sewed."
"I can fix that,"Chloe said, quietly."You surprised me. Your family seems perfect.""Hardly. But when I get to see Adrien, life seems almost normal."
"I hope Adrien and I stay friends forever. He's very kind."Chloe handed back his bunny."I know we don't always get along, but I'm glad your here,Felix."
"Friends?"Felix held out his hand."Friends.""What to see a magic trick?"Chloe smiled."Sure!"
Adrien smiled as his cousin and friend came over, happy that for now,the pair seemed like friends.
