September 7th - 12:00 PM - State Fair
"Lance their here!" Pidge called from the Kitchen. She adjusted her hoodie straps before pulling her converse onto her feet. "Lance!" She called again.
Lance finally emerged from the bedroom placing a baseball cap onto his head backwards. He wore jeans converse the same black color as Pidges and his blue and white baseball tee and classic army green jacket. "Oh wait!" Lance disappeared back into the bedroom and emerged a few seconds later with the black cord bracelet Pidge had gotten him in Hawaii.
"You ready now?" Pidge asked sarcastically as she finished tying off the bracelet.
"So ready!" Lance said as he opened the front door. Moments later they were in the backseat of Keith's truck and were flying down the highway to the local state fair. Matt and Hunk were gonna meet them at the fair.
"So we're gonna get the root beer right?" Shiro asked, "You guys have said so much about this root beer and I just have to try it for myself."
Lance leaned forward in his seat grabbing hold of Shiro and Keith's seats to keep him steady. He had forgone putting his seatbelt on as it was too restrictive keeping him from the front. "It's so good Shiro." He reached forward suddenly and turned the radio up, "This song is so good!" He retreated to the back seat playing an imaginary guitar along to the music.
Keith shifted gears and increased his speed to get around a minivan in order to make their exit.
September 7th - 07:00 PM - State Fair
It was hours later and the group had managed to hit almost every arcade game. You know the games where it's rigged so it's impossible to win. They also managed to eat enough snacks to tie themselves over to breakfast the next day. From cotton candy to fried corn dogs and the root beer that Shiro was beyond excited to try.
The only thing left for them to do was the carnival rides. The timing was perfect as the sun had set and the lights on the rides were mesmerizing to look at.
Lance pulled Pidge through the crowd to the line to the ferris wheel. Enough time had gone by and they were the next couple stepping up to the cart. They sat and had the bar placed in front of them and soon they were making their way to the top.
"They're so tiny from up here." Pidge said as she waved to their group of friends on the ground
"Pidge Look up." Lance said. Pidge turned to find his gaze turned upward towards the stars and Pidge followed suit.
"It's so beautiful." Pidge breathed. She took in the twinkling stars and some adventures of Voltron flitted through her mind.
"Yeah it is." Pidge turned her gaze to Lance and found him staring at her. Pidge could feel her face grow warm. She didn't have a chance to think about it further before he was kissing her.
They were jostled forward when the ferris wheel began its descent downward interrupting their kiss. Lance stole another kiss before they reached the ground, and Pidge found that she couldn't stop smiling. Today was perfect.
