Arriving home after an aborted evening, Lucas parks quickly, before getting out of the car. He then goes around the vehicle to open Brooke's door and lift her up in his arms again. She was still in shock and still trembling from her terrible encounter with Victoria and Dan Scott. Curled up against him, Lucas carries her delicately to the living room, to install her on the sofa. Kneeling in front of her, he then observes her with concern while she is as if prostrated. Remaining silent while tears now flow down her cheeks, Lucas gently wipes them away.
Lucas : I'm so sorry, my love. If I could have imagined for a single second what was going to happen, we would never have gone to this party. I really didn't think my parents would be capable of doing such a thing.
Brooke : I'm well placed to know that you never really know your parents, Lucas. We have the impression of knowing them well, when ultimately they are strangers.
Brooke's tears redoubled, Lucas then sits down very close to her to take her in his arms and rock her gently. He then tenderly kisses her hair to comfort her and whispers words of love to her.
Her tears finally stopping a few minutes later, Brooke then raises her head to sensually kiss Lucas.
Brooke : Make love to me, Lucas. I need to feel you inside me now.
Without being asked twice, Lucas then lifted her up in his arms again, to lead her to their room.
Later, it's already late at night as Brooke and Lucas are cuddled in bed, having made love. Both of them are unable to sleep as Brooke's head rests on Lucas' chest and her fingers brush his back.
Brooke : How did your parents know about my father?
Lucas : Unfortunately, they have a lot of connections, especially in the police. That's how our world works and that's why I moved away from it. I didn't want my parents to use their connections to make me succeed. I wanted to be proud of myself for doing things on my own, even if it meant failing. There was no way I was going to owe my success to my parents' connections.
Brooke : I understand, my love. And you can be proud of it, because not only did you succeed, but you are also and above all a good man.
Lucas : I'm a good man because you're near me, my pretty. You're the one who made me better, because you light up everything you approach.
Lucas suddenly turns, and then stands above Brooke to take her lips for a long time. They both look at each other then with eyes full of emotion while Lucas' fingers trace the outline of Brooke's face.
Lucas : What if we forget about my parents for a bit and finally think about our wedding?
Brooke : You're right, with all this going on, we haven't even talked about it yet. What kind of wedding would you like?
Lucas : A simple and intimate wedding, and you?
Brooke : Me too. I would like us to get married in the country, with just the people we love near us.
Lucas : That would be perfect. We could look for an inn in the area starting tomorrow, if you want.
Brooke : Yes, because I really can't wait to be your wife.
Lucas : And I really can't wait to be your husband, my love. I love you.
Brooke : I love you too.
Capturing Brooke's mouth again, Lucas then covers her with a tender, but also a little worried, look.
Lucas : You look exhausted. We better go to sleep now.
Brooke can't help but yawn, making her and Lucas burst out laughing before they share a sweet kiss. Lucas lies back on his back, hugging Brooke as his eyelids close.
Fifteen days have passed since that night and as expected, Lucas and Brooke have started planning their wedding. At the same time, Lucas' parents have been sparing no effort in trying to contact him. The Scott couple has been harassing their son on the phone while Lucas has been royally ignoring their calls. This situation was really starting to weigh on Brooke, but it's another subject that's worrying her today. She was indeed late for her period, but the pregnancy test was negative. So she's in her room getting dressed, in order to go to her gynecologist to find out for sure.
Once ready, she grabs her purse and car keys, before hurrying out of the room. She then drives a few minutes to go to town and finally reaches Doctor Lewis's office. She quickly parks in the parking lot and then enters the building with a beating heart.
Dr. Lewis : So? What is the reason for your visit, Miss Davis?
Brooke : I came to see you because my period is late, Dr. Lewis.
Dr. Lewis : How many days?
Brooke : Four days. I took a test, but it came back negative.
Dr. Lewis : I see. It can happen that tests are falsely negative, especially after being so few days late. So I'm going to do an ultrasound to check.
The doctor gets up from his chair, and Brooke does the same to settle down on the examination table. The doctor lifts Brooke's clothes to reveal her belly, before applying gel and inserting the probe. Dr. Lewis slides the probe over Brooke's uterus, then holds it still with a big smile.
Dr. Lewis : You are indeed pregnant, Miss Davis.
Brooke : Really?
Dr. Lewis : Yes, and I can even see two embryos. You're going to see twins! I can't let you listen to their hearts because it's too early, but I will print out the ultrasound. I'm sure the dad-to-be will be thrilled to know.
Brooke : Yes, that's for sure. Thank you, doctor.
Dr. Lewis : However, you should know that twin pregnancies are always a bit risky. So you'll have to rest as much as possible and come see me regularly.
Brooke : Okay, doctor. I'll be careful.
Once the exam is complete, the doctor gives Brooke his final recommendations before walking her out the door. Overjoyed, Brooke leaves the office with a big smile, then gets in the car to go see Lucas. She clearly can't wait until tonight to tell him the good news.
A quarter of an hour later, a big smile is still on Brooke's face as she approaches Lucas' secretary.
Brooke : Hello, I'm Brooke Davis and I'd like to see Lucas Scott, if possible.
Secretary : Hello, Miss Davis. Mr. Scott told me about you. You can go see it, of course.
Brooke : Thanks.
Eager to see Lucas, Brooke then heads to his office door quickly, before knocking on it. Lucas' deep voice is immediately heard on the other side.
Lucas : Come in!
Brooke enters his office under Lucas's initially astonished gaze, before a big smile lights up his face. He immediately gets up from his chair to come and meet her and take her in his arms. He kisses her for a long time while Brooke puts her arms around his neck and he holds her close to him. Ending the kiss, Lucas looks at Brooke with tenderness, but also with questioning.
Lucas : This is your first time here, my love.
Brooke : That's true, but I couldn't wait until tonight to see you.
Lucas : Oh really? Why?
Brooke : Because I have a surprise for you.
Digging through her bag for a moment, Brooke then takes out the pictures of her ultrasound with a slightly trembling hand. Handing them to Lucas with a small, moved smile, she watches him take them and look at them carefully.
Brooke : I'm pregnant, Lucas. We're having twins. Since I was late, I went to the doctor earlier to make sure.
Brooke can see the emotion flash across Lucas' face as he processes what she just told him. He looks at her again, his eyes shining with unshed tears. His large hands then frame Brooke's face as he rests his forehead against hers.
Lucas : I can't believe it. It's fantastic, my love.
Brooke : Yes, although the doctor warned me not to overexert myself.
Lucas : Really? In that case, how about you come home with me now?
Brooke : I would love to, but I came with my car.
Lucas : It's okay. Tomorrow I will have someone bring her home.
Brooke : Okay. Let's go home.
Lucas : Yeah, but first I have something to show you.
Brooke : Oh really? What is it?
Lucas : You'll see when we get there.
Brooke : Yeah, but I have to pick Lily up from school.
Lucas : I'll call Debie to go instead of you, okay? That way we'll have plenty of time.
Brooke : Okay. That's fine with me.
Lucas : Perfect!
Still taking the time to kiss Brooke, Lucas gathers his things, before taking Brooke's hand to go out. After getting in the car, Brooke is surprised to see that Lucas is driving her out of town. Driving through the countryside for half an hour, they finally arrive in front of a lovely little inn. Lucas and Brooke get out of the car to admire the charming inn, surrounded by a pretty flower garden.
Brooke : This inn is adorable, Lucas!
Lucas : I was sure you'd like it. I spoke with the owner on the phone and we can book her to get married.
Brooke : Really?
Lucas : Yes. Now we just have to choose a date. I thought we'd get married in a month, what do you say?
Brooke : I say, I totally agree, my love.
Happy, Lucas and Brooke then exchange a long kiss, then they head hand in hand towards the entrance of the inn. They then meet the owner to take a tour of the place, before booking it for their wedding.
Several days have passed since this beautiful day and the wedding preparations are going well. Lucas and Brooke are getting married in less than a month, so they must not waste time to get everything ready. Lucas helps Brooke as much as possible, so that she does not overwork herself and her pregnancy is not put in danger. Lily is not aware, since they had decided to wait until the end of the first trimester to tell her. Lucas and Booke did not want the little girl to be sad in case things did not turn out well. Haley and Clay are, for their part, in the know and have therefore come to visit them today.
Haley : I can't believe you're having twins! That's so awesome!
Lucas : Yeah. Doesn't that give you any ideas?
Clay : Yes, but with our jobs, we'd rather wait before having kids. I have enough of your parents to deal with, without having diapers and bottles to worry about.
Lucas : I know what you mean, Clay.
Haley : Speaking of which, Clay and I are really sorry for the way they treated you, Brooke.
Brooke : You don't have to be sorry, it's not your fault.
Haley : I know, but when I think about what they dared to do to you, it makes me sick. By the way, are they still harassing you on the phone, Lucas?
Lucas : No, because I ended up blocking their numbers.
Haley : I see. In that case, you should be wary.
Lucas : What?
Haley : What they could do to you. You know what they're capable of.
Lucas : Yeah, but I don't care. I'm not afraid of them.
Haley : I wish I was capable of the same confidence, Lucas. I could never risk upsetting them like you are.
Lucas : And why is that? Aren't you tired of them telling you what to do every day?
Haley : Of course. But they scare me. Look what they did to Brooke!
Lucas : Exactly. I think it's time for you to strike out on your own. Our parents won't do you any good, Haley. You get that now.
Haley : Yeah, but what are you suggesting?
Lucas : It's simple, that Clay become my partner and that you come work with us. Since Julian sold me his shares, I could really use him to help me run the company. Plus, with the twins coming and Lily, I definitely want to spend more time at home. By sharing the work like this, you could also start a family very well.
Haley : That's a good idea! What do you think, honey?
Clay : I think it's a good idea too, but I'm afraid of how your parents will react. Who knows what they might do?
Lucas : I don't know, but considering what they did to Brooke, whether you stay or not won't change a thing. These people are capable of the worst evils and are not trustworthy at all.
Clay : You're right, Lucas.
Haley : So, does that mean we're going to do it?
Clay : Absolutely!
Haley seems genuinely relieved, Brooke then listens to the three of them as they plan their strategy. The afternoon passes like this, before Clay and Haley go home, more determined than ever to resign.
