My friend sent me the promo photo of Jubal wearing the wedding ring in the upcoming episode, and it sparked this idea.
I hope that you enjoy the newest relationship reveal.
Check out the note at the end.
Jubal was trying to stop himself from smiling but he couldn't, even though he was just finished a debrief with Isobel, he had just married his best friend, the love of his life less than twenty-four hours ago. He walked out of Isobel's office and into the JOC thinking about how good it felt to be a married man, his smile growing when he looked up and saw Maggie standing with OA.
They got straight to work, Jubal catching everyone up on what he and Isobel had just been discussing in her office. He lifted his left hand to point at something on the screens and that's when something on his hand caught OA's attention.
"Hey, Jubal, what's that?"
Jubal looked at the screen and back at OA "What's what? I can't tell what you're looking at on the screen OA."
"I don't think OA is looking at something at the screen I think he is talking about the wedding ring on your finger, you got something to share Jubal?" Tiffany raised an eyebrow looking at Jubal.
Maggie could feel her heart racing as she had noticed the minute Jubal had lifted his hand that he had forgotten to take his ring off. They had talked about neither of them wearing their rings until they had the party to tell the team everything.
Jubal looked at the ring on his hand before sliding his left hand in to his pocket like that was going to make them all forget what they had saw "There's nothing there for anyone to see or think about."
"Yeah, nice try boss but we all saw that ring, and it's definitely on your wedding ring finger so you care to share why you married your girlfriend and didn't tell any of us?" OA was not going to let it drop just because Jubal had hidden his hand, they had all saw it.
The team had found out Jubal had a girlfriend a couple of months ago, but they didn't know who the girlfriend was. The only person who knew at work that he was dating Maggie was Isobel, but even she was standing in shock as she had no idea they had got married. Why hadn't they told her when she knew about them?
"I mean we are a little offended that you didn't invite us but it's not like you can deny you have a wedding ring on." Scola looked at Jubal as he spoke.
Even though Isobel wanted answers too right now they had a case to solve "Guys as much as we all want to find out what's going on, and Jubal I'm afraid they are all going to come back to this, but right now I need you all on this case, we need to catch our guy."
Jubal knew that Isobel was only giving him a short break from the questioning as she was right, he knew the team were going to need answers and he had no idea what those answers were going to be. He couldn't take Maggie aside and talk to her as her, OA, Tiffany and Scola all headed out into the field. He lifted his phone and sent her a text,
'Baby, I am so sorry, I honestly thought I had taken my ring off this morning before we left the house. I will keep putting the team off until you and I talk and figure out the next step.'
Maggie felt her phone buzz and she knew straight away that it was a message from Jubal. She couldn't be mad at him for this, she saw the look of panic on his face the minute that OA had spotted the ring, she knew he would be feeling so guilty.
'It certainly wasn't how we planned on the team finding out that you had recently gotten married, but I'm not mad at you babe, I know it was an honest mistake. We can figure out a way together to tell them that I'm your wife.'
Jubal was trying not to pace at the top of the JOC while waiting on a reply from Maggie. He grabbed his phone the minute it buzzed and he relaxed the minute that he read her words and he couldn't help the smile that appeared when he read the final words.
'I'm going to need you to repeat those last three words repeatedly for the rest of our lives for it to sink in that I'm the lucky one that gets to call you my wife.
I love you so much baby, please be safe out there.'
Maggie had a chance to send a quick reply to Jubal to say she loved him too and that she would be safe before it was time for her and OA to question their witnesses.
Maggie and the team were working flat out trying to follow leads, it had been almost three hours since they had left the JOC and she had only spoke to Jubal once after their texts and that was on loudspeaker with her and OA. OA had suggested that they stop to get proper coffee for them and the others before heading back into the JOC for interrogations. Maggie needed a coffee so was happy to stop at the cafe near the FBI building.
OA opened the door for Maggie as they stepped inside the small cafe,
"So, you think that Jubal will actually tell us who his new wife is? Man that sounds so strange to say."
"I mean I'm guessing that he'll have to talk to his wife first and see how she feels about that."
"Oh, we might be about to get our answer, look there's Jubal." OA nodded over to the side where Jubal was standing with his ex-wife Sam. "You think he's remarried to his ex-wife?"
Maggie looked to where OA had nodded and spotted Jubal and Sam straight away, she had no idea that they had arranged to meet but she hadn't really had much contact with Jubal today. She was about to answer OA when she saw Sam lean in to kiss Jubal, Maggie turned her back on it straight away, she did not want to see this, she honestly wasn't sure she could breathe right now. She grabbed OA's arm,
"We are leaving, now."
OA had no idea what the hell was happening, one minute he saw Jubals ex wife lean in to kiss him, next Maggie was actually dragging him out of the cafe.
"Hey what about our coffee?"
"We can get it somewhere else OA we are not going back in there." Maggie wouldn't look at OA or back at the cafe as she walked towards their suv.
"Man, I was not expecting to see Jubals ex wife kiss him while we waited to order coffee." He had an almost laugh as he was trying to process what he had just saw.
"OA drop it now!" Maggie gripped the steering wheel tight as she drove the short distance to 26 fed. It was hurting her hands with how tight she was gripping the steering wheel, but the pain of that was stopping the tears from falling. Had she missed signs that Jubal still had feelings for Sam, had she been blinded by her love for him to notice that he was secretly back with the mother of his kids. She knew that love would always be there between Sam and Jubal because of the kids, had it grown into more without her noticing.
OA knew the way that Maggie spoke to drop the conversation, he had no idea why, but he could tell that something was clearly wrong with Maggie and he didn't want to do anything to upset his partner. However, that didn't mean that he couldn't talk about it the minute that he saw Scola and Tiffany.
Scola lifted his head to see Maggie and OA coming towards them at their desks "Hey, what happened the coffee you guys were picking up."
"We couldn't get it." That was all Maggie could say as she threw her bag down at her feet and sat at her desk.
Tiffany and Scola raised an eyebrow seeing the way Maggie acted and looked at OA who sat down beside them,
"We went to get coffee and you guys won't believe this, but we saw Jubals ex wife kiss him…"
Before OA could say more Maggie stood up from her chair and walked away heading into the break room, she didn't need to hear more and she sure as hell didn't need to hear them discuss if Jubal was in fact remarried to his ex-wife.
Tiffany watched Maggie walk away and when OA had finished speaking she looked at him, "What's going on with Maggie, she seems to be struggling with something."
OA sighed, seeing Maggie get up and basically storm off had him worried about her, and he had saw in the car and at her desk how she was trying her best not to cry.
"I've no idea, she saw Sam lean in to kiss Jubal and then spun around so quickly and literally dragged me out of the cafe. She won't talk about it, when I tried to bring it up she made it clear for me to drop it."
"Maybe if we give her a little bit of time and space she'll tell you what's bothering her." Tiffany spoke softly to OA, all three of them were concerned about Maggie and how she was acting as they had never seen her like this before.
Maggie was standing in the break room, taking slow deep breaths, she kept picturing Sam leaning in to kiss Jubal and she honestly in that moment didn't know if she was going to cry or be sick. Then she heard his voice and she froze,
"Hey, there you are, I've been looking for you." Jubal was talking with a smile in his voice, Maggie didn't have to turn around to know he was smiling.
Maggie refused to face him as she spoke "Jubal right now is not a good time. I don't want to speak to you right now or ever again actually works right now for me."
Hearing her call him Jubal, even at work, surprised him because they were alone, the fact she wouldn't look at him had him worried without even focusing on what she had said. He stepped up behind her and ran his hands along her arms,
"Talk to me baby what's going on."
Maggie stepped away from his touch instantly "Don't touch me!" She almost spat out the words as she glanced at him as she wiped the tears that had fallen as she almost ran out of the break room towards the bathroom.
Jubal stood in shock, he had never seen Maggie have that reaction to him, and he right now had no idea why she was being this way with him. He was really worried about her, he went to go follow her to the bathroom, cause honestly right now he didn't care about anything but figuring out why Maggie couldn't bare to have him touch her or why she didn't want to talk to him. Before he could do anything, Ian had found him and told him that they had found something he needed to see.
Jubal went into the JOC and tried to focus on what Ian, Elise and Kelly were showing him and telling him but his mind kept drifting back to the break room with Maggie. He needed to find her and he needed to figure out what the hell was going on that his own wife couldn't talk to him, barely look at him, and almost jump away from his touch.
He at least knew that he was about to see Maggie as he had to call the team into the JOC to show them what they had found. OA, Tiffany and Scola came walking into the JOC and right up to the top, but Maggie hung back and even when Jubal was filling them in on the case, she wouldn't look at him. She would stare at the screens or at Ian and Elise when they were talking but she wouldn't even glance his way, and he could tell she had been crying. He was so close to just saying screw it all and walk to her and find out what was wrong. He was drawn from his thoughts when he heard OA,
"So Jubal, did you bring us all back some coffee from the cafe down the street?"
Jubal turned to OA confused "What cafe? What are you talking about OA?"
"Or did your ex-wife, possibly your new wife, kissing you distract you too much?" OA smirked playfully, he had no idea that his words had Maggie almost run out of the back of the JOC.
Jubal was sure that time had frozen and that they could all hear his heart beating when he heard OA's words, he felt like his heart had dropped when he saw Maggie leave the JOC hearing OA.
"OA, was Maggie with you when you saw that?"
That was definitely not the question that the team were expecting Jubal to ask OA right now,
"Yeah, but she turned around the minute your ex leaned in to kiss you and she's actually been acting really strange since then, she dragged me out of there before I could say or do anything."
"Shit." Jubal knew exactly why Maggie was the way that she was being right now, it all made sense to him now.
Now the whole team were shocked at that reaction from Jubal, this time it was Tiffany to fill the silence,
"We are clearly missing something here, care to share with the rest of us what's going on?"
From the second that Jubal had heard OA confirm that Maggie had been with him, he knew he had to fix it. Right now he honestly didn't care about anything or anyone, the only thing he cared about was Maggie and fixing what he had potentially screwed up. Without answering OA or Tiffany he went to find Maggie and found her sitting at her desk staring at her phone, he walked over to her slowly, taking a deep breath,
"Mags, OA just told me you were in the cafe."
Maggie wiped her eyes as more tears threatened to fall as she looked at the photo of them right after getting married on her phone before up at Jubal,
"Why marry me if you were still in love with your ex-wife? Were we a lie the whole time?"
That was the final barrier broke for Jubal as he closed the distance and spun Maggie's chair around gently to face him as he hunkered down on the floor to be level with her,
"I'm not still in love with her, Maggie the only person that I'm in love with is you, that's why I asked you to marry me. You are the love of my life." Jubal was struggling with his emotions as he looked at Maggie and saw how utterly heartbroken she looked and it be because of him.
"Jubal, stop lying to me, please, I at least deserve the truth... I saw what happened in the cafe."
Jubal moved in closer to Maggie and even though he was afraid she would pull away he reached up brushing her hair behind her ear,
"I need you to tell me what you actually saw baby."
"Why? What does making me relive it change? I can still see her leaning in to… kiss…" Maggie couldn't finish her sentence as she closed her eyes.
"Because OA told me you turned around when you saw Samantha leaning in."
"Yes, because why would I want to watch my husband kiss his ex-wife." Maggie couldn't understand why Jubal wanted her to go through all of this, couldn't he see she was in enough pain.
Jubal moved his hand to Maggie's cheek and got her to lift her head to look at him "I didn't kiss her baby… Yes, she leaned in to kiss me and did kiss me before I could figure out what was happening, but I pushed her away from me straight away."
Maggie was looking at Jubal properly for the first time since she had walked out of the cafe, she was trying to read if he was telling her the truth but all she could see in her head was the image of Samantha leaning in to kiss Jubal. She shook her head gently, she didn't know if she was just trying to shake the images from her head or what she was shaking her head for.
Seeing her shake her head had Jubal really fighting with his emotions as he thought this was Maggie saying she didn't believe him, he didn't know how else to fix this.
"Mags… baby…. Please you have to believe me, I wouldn't lie to you, remember this is me, the man who loves you more than anything, who asked you to marry him, who would do anything to see you smile. I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you, deep down you have to know that."
"Jubal I'm not the only one that saw it, OA even told the others that he saw you two kissing."
The team had followed Jubal the minute they saw him almost run out of the JOC, what was going on with him and Maggie, why were they reacting this way, they had to find out. They had stood at the door that led to the room with all their desks as they could clearly hear Jubal from there, to be honest it did not seem like he cared who would see them or who could hear him right now.
If they were truthful everyone near by was paying attention to what was going on as they had never seen Jubal act this way or heard him talk this way. The team stood in a lot of shock, surely they heard Jubal wrong, there was no way that Maggie was really his wife, they would have noticed sooner, right?
OA felt anger rise in him as he realized that his partner, his best friend had hidden something this big from him. Yes, he knew she was in a relationship, but she had told him she wasn't ready for them to meet, yet she's married to him. OA was pulled out of his anger when he looked at Maggie and even though she was listening to Jubal he could see how heartbroken she was, he had to step in and especially when she mentioned him talking about it, even though he didn't completely understand exactly what was going on.
"Maggie I've no idea what the hell I'm actually witnessing right now, nor am I ignoring the fact that we clearly need to talk, but Jubal is telling you the truth. Before you dragged me out of there, he pushed his ex-wife away from him."
Tiffany stepped up beside OA, they didn't know how to feel about Jubal and Maggie not telling them they had got married, but they couldn't let Maggie sit this heartbroken over what they think might have been a huge misunderstanding.
"I wasn't there Maggie, but when OA was telling me and Scola, you got up and almost ran out of here, you missed him telling us that Jubal pushed her away."
"It's true Maggie, he said he didn't understand it because if they were remarried why would he push her away rather than kiss her back."
Jubal would have questioned that the team really thought he had got remarried to his ex-wife, but right now his only concern was his wife. He needed Maggie to believe them because he couldn't lose her over Samantha being jealous.
"You really saw him back off?" Maggie looked at OA.
"Hell, if he kissed her back I'd be kicking his ass right now for cheating on you, and I'm a little mad at you for you lying to me so I wouldn't be making this up just for the sake of it Maggie."
Maggie looked at Jubal letting everything that everyone was saying really sink in, to also understand what she had saw and kept seeing in her mind, she knew she needed answers.
"So, if I'm mistaken in what I saw then I need you to tell me what happened." Maggie looked directly at Jubal as she spoke, if she was going to put all her trust in him, she needed him to be honest.
Jubal stood up and he reached out hoping with everything in him that Maggie would take his hand, he knew that he was lucky that she was at least willing to really hear him out after what the team had said.
Maggie looked at his hand before up at Jubal and stood up taking his hand "Where are we going?"
"I'm sure that everyone would love to hear how this plays out baby, but I would rather we talked about this in detail in private." Jubal squeezed Maggie's hand gently and he saw the doubt and moment of panic when he said he wanted to talk privately "I swear I didn't kiss Samantha, I just would rather this conversation happen with us and only the people that we completely trust."
Maggie couldn't hide the moment of doubt or panic when he said they would discuss details in public, was he just saying he hadn't kissed Samantha in front of everyone and was going to tell her the truth alone. She was thankful that Jubal had read that in her expression,
"So, who exactly are we having this conversation with?"
Jubal looked at OA, Tiffany and Scola before back at Maggie "They have no idea what exactly is going on right now, yet they stepped in to let you know what they had saw or what OA had told them. So, I'm happy for the team to join us."
"You sure?" OA looked at Jubal "I mean as much as I want to know what's going on and I have so many questions, if that needs to wait until you two talk in private then we can wait."
Jubal shook his head gently "The only persons privacy I would be protecting is my ex-wives, and after her almost costing me my marriage, I'm not concerned about that right now and I also need you three to know that you did step in for the right reasons."
Maggie couldn't lie, she was honestly surprised that Jubal was willing to have this conversation in front of Tiffany, OA and Scola. She knew how private he was and especially when it came to his private life and his emotions. That made it clear to Maggie that her reaction to what she had saw had really scared Jubal.
She squeezed Jubals hand as she followed him towards the break room and she looked back over her shoulder at the team,
"If you guys want to be a part of this I don't think Jubal will put the offer out again."
That was all it took for OA, Tiffany and Scola to follow Jubal and Maggie into the break room. OA was the last one into the room so he closed the door tight behind him knowing that would stop anyone else from coming in.
Maggie sat down on a small couch beside Jubal and she turned to face him as she squeezed his hand gently "For me to understand what happened and to believe everything that you are telling me, I need you to be completely honest with me Jubal, like why were you and Samantha even in the cafe?"
Jubal may have felt a little nervous having OA, Tiffany and Scola there, but he had been honest, they deserved to know the truth, they had jumped in to defend and help him without knowing the full story and that meant a lot to him. He turned to face Maggie more moving a little closer to her, as he caressed her hand with his thumb, needing this contact,
"Samantha rang me" Jubal realized that neither him or Maggie had called her Sam since this had all started, and he was more than okay with that right now "She told me that we needed to talk about the kids and that it was urgent, so of course I tried to meet her as quick as I could that's why we were in a cafe so close to here."
Maggie knew that mentioning the kids Samantha would know that Jubal would find a way to meet her as soon as possible, so now it was sounding like she had it all planned out which wasn't really helping Maggie's thoughts.
"So, she kissed you while talking about the kids?" Maggie swallowed hard saying the word 'kiss' in this context.
"Can we stop calling it a kiss, it really wasn't a kiss." Jubal sighed a little, he understood why they had called it that, but he felt like that just kept bringing up the pain for Maggie. "Can we just say when she leaned in?" When Maggie nodded Jubal continued,
"She started talking about you and me, about how happy the kids were when we dropped them back this morning, how they talked about the excitement of the wedding yesterday."
"Yesterday? You guys only got married yesterday? As in like the day before today?" OA couldn't help that the question slipped out and rather a little loudly as he was genuinely shocked.
"OA, I promise to answer any and every question you have but I think I need to explain what happened so that I can hopefully try to get Maggie back to being herself so that we can talk to you together."
OA nodded when he heard Jubal, he was right, their questions could wait but he hadn't even really meant to ask the question, it had popped out in complete shock.
Jubal focused back on Maggie as he was a little nervous, he felt guilty that it had all happened, he should have seen the kiss coming, but he really hadn't.
"I had no idea why the kids being happy had made Samantha need to see me urgently, then she said that she wanted what we had, that her and Allan had been engaged for almost eighteen months, whereas we were engaged less than twenty-four hours before we wanted to become husband and wife."
"These two didn't waste any time... maybe they've only been dating a month or two." Tiffany couldn't help but say that aloud, but honestly they couldn't believe how quickly things had moved listening to Jubal.
This time Jubal just focused on Maggie as he could see that she was really needing him to get to the end of it so that she could try to understand everything.
"She wanted to know what you had that she didn't and next thing I knew she was leaning into me."
"So, the smile you had on your face before she leaned in, that was because she was talking to you about the kids and us?"
Jubal lifted his hand to Maggie's cheek as he caressed it gently with his thumb "Baby, you know me better than anyone, you know each of my smiles, you know the one you saw is only ever when I'm with you or the kids or getting to talk about you three."
Maggie ran her hand along Jubals arm as she listened to him, he was right, she did know him better than anyone. That was how she knew he was telling her the truth. She lay her hand on top of his wanting and needing the contact,
"So, what happened when you pushed her away?"
"Other than Maggie almost giving me whiplash dragging me out of there." OA shrugged when they all looked at him, causing Tiffany and Scola to shake their heads laughing a little.
Jubal looked briefly at OA before back to Maggie, "To be honest we must have just missed you guys, cause I took Samantha outside the cafe as I was not about to lose my shit in front of everyone in the cafe considering I go there most days. I may have gotten a little loud with her, but I don't regret that. I told her she was way out of line, that if she wasn't happy with Allan to go and speak with him that I was not in love with her, I did not want to be with her and that if she couldn't respect that I was now happily married to you, that we would have no face to face contact without the kids or you being with me."
Maggie couldn't help the small smile that appeared as she heard how Jubal had defended their marriage, and how he said about the no face to face contact, because she knew he really meant that too. She took her hand from on top of Jubals on her cheek and ran her fingers along his goatee and cheek,
"Would you have told me what happened? If I hadn't saw it."
"Well technically you only saw a part of it baby..." He had a small playful smirk as seeing the smile on Maggie's lip, her touch to his goatee and cheek, he knew she was coming back to herself "But yes I was always planning on telling you, I don't plan on keeping secrets in our marriage baby, I want to be completely open and honest with you."
"So, you've told me everything? There's honestly nothing there between you both and you don't regret anything that happened at the weekend?" Maggie had no idea why she felt nervous asking that, she had a feeling she knew the answer, but she knew hearing it from Jubals lips would chase away her remaining fears.
Jubal moved even closer to Maggie, as close as he possibly could and he cupped her face with his hands so that he could get her to keep his focus on him,
"I am in love with you and only you Maggie Bell, that won't ever change. I will always have love for Samantha as the mother of the kids but that's it I swear, and I could never regret the best weekend of my life. I got to stand up and become your husband with the kids by our sides, I will never regret that baby. Hell, I was that happy this morning I clearly forgot to take my ring off like we discussed."
Jubal whispered the last bit as he leaned in closing the short distance as he kissed Maggie slowly but with so much love. He knew the team were sitting there, but he knew that he and Maggie needed this kiss, and he knew the team would look elsewhere until they broke the kiss or was at least hoping that they would.
When they broke the kiss Maggie lay her forehead against Jubals, and she ran her hand along his back to the back of his neck as she played with his hairline with her thumb.
"I love you so much Jubal, that's why I felt so broken earlier and like my entire world had fallen apparat. I'm sorry that my trust and belief in you didn't let me question what I saw more, I hope you do know that I trust you babe, but I do think moving forward we need to maybe come up with something in how we deal with Samantha after this, because her, I definitely don't trust right now."
"You have nothing to apologise for baby..." Jubal had to briefly close his eyes feeling Maggie's thumb at his hairline "We both know if I saw someone act that way with you that my reaction would have been so much worse and may have resulted in me getting physical with him, but I don't blame you baby, I really don't. I'm just so thankful that you gave me a chance to explain everything, because earlier when you told me that didn't want to talk to me, and didn't want me touching you…. I felt like I was losing the biggest part of me."
Maggie closed the short distance placing small kisses to Jubals lips, wanting and needing this closeness, the intimacy, even if they weren't alone "I'm so sorry that I said and did those things, walking away from you from here earlier is one of the hardest things I've ever done, and something I'll never do again."
They were reminded that they weren't alone when they heard someone sniffing and they looked over to see Tiffany wiping her eyes.
"Sorry… I didn't mean to interrupt your moment or anything just ignore me."
Maggie turned around to face the team but to Jubals delight she moved in right beside him so that he could wrap his arms around her and hold her close to his chest.
"Thank you to the three of you, you guys didn't have to step in the way that you did when I'm sure that you have a lot of questions about what is happening here. And OA you have every right to be angry at me for not telling you that Jubal is who I was dating." Maggie looked at OA as she spoke to him.
"I was angry when I heard that you were married and hadn't told me, I mean how can you keep something like that from someone who considers you one of their best friends?" OA decided that it was just best to be honest with Maggie "Did you guys not trust me or something?"
"Trusting you was not the issue OA, I'm not sure we can ever make it make sense to you guys. We didn't sit and be like oh let's get married and not tell the team. I was honest with you about as much as I could about my relationship just not about his identity, I even talked to you about the guy I was dating having kids."
"I know that you talked about him being a father, but seriously Maggie, you got married and not only did you not invite me you don't even tell me. Does our friendship not mean more to you?"
"OA, I know you're angry and upset, but you can't just blame Maggie for this." Jubal sat up straighter keeping his arms around Maggie, he understood OA was upset but he would always protect Maggie "You have no idea the number of nights Maggie kept us both awake because she hated herself for not being completely honest with you all. This wasn't just her decision, it was a decision that we made together that we felt was best for us and the team at the time."
"To get married though and not tell us I mean what was the thinking there?" This time it was Scola who asked as he looked at Maggie and Jubal.
"OA you jumped in earlier asking if we only got married yesterday, the answer was yes, Tiffany you made the comment about us not wasting time, that's also true. Guys, this wasn't something we sat planning for weeks, I asked Maggie to marry me on Saturday and we went to the courthouse yesterday with the kids and my sister."
"Why the rush with the engagement and the wedding then, if you're saying that wasn't the plan?" OA was trying to let go of his anger and was trying to understand everything to try and get his head around it all.
Jubal held Maggie a little closer hearing that question, he kissed her head, hugging her close before looking back at the team,
"Maggie and Scola had that narrow escape at the scene with the bomb on Friday. We were sitting at home on Saturday morning, and we wanted to shut out the world and it just be us as we were so thankful Mags was still alive. I made us breakfast, and I told Maggie how I had been planing the perfect day in my head for a couple of weeks, but on Friday, that bomb going off and Mags and Scola just about making it out before the explosion, that made me realize that I was wasting time waiting for the perfect moment." Jubal looked at Maggie and leaned down kissing her forehead when she looked up at him "I told Mags that I didn't want to spend another second without her knowing that I wanted her to be my wife and that if she agreed to marry me that she would be proving to the whole world that I was and am the luckiest man in the world."
Maggie leaned up kissing Jubal with so much love when he finished talking as she got flashbacks to Saturday morning and the tears in Jubals eyes, the shock so clear on her face as Jubal got down on one knee to ask her to marry him.
"Getting engaged like that makes sense after Friday, but then why only waiting a day until you got married, was it always the plan to get married before telling us?" Tiffany waited until Maggie and Jubal had broken apart from kissing before asking the question.
Maggie lay her head against Jubals shoulder as she looked at the team,"When Jubal asked me, we talked about how we didn't see the point in wasting any time, I knew I wanted to be his wife for the rest of my life and we didn't need anything fancy to make that happen. No, our plan was to tell you guys a few weeks ago but then cases kept coming up or things with the kids."
"So, what you just planned on us spotting Jubals wedding ring and that being how we found out?" OA still needed to know if they ever really planned to include them.
"No… Jubal was not meant to have his wedding ring still on him." Maggie nudged Jubal playfully and then she looked at OA focusing on him, knowing he still needed answers "Our plan was to invite you all to mine for a meal next weekend, which is now actually our home" Maggie smiled at Jubal before looking back at OA "We were going to break the news to you guys there about everything including the fact that we had officially been married but that we wanted to have a wedding day with you all part of it."
"So, you guys were already planning an actual wedding day with us all there?" Tiffany asked as they wanted to make sure they were understanding everything.
"We sat planning it last night, we wanted to throw a party to celebrate, and we wanted to have both our families and you guys all be there and we were going to say vows and then get to have photos and memories with the people that we care about the most." Jubal smiled as he spoke while running his hand along Maggie's arm slowly.
"You guys still planning on doing that?" OA asked looking more at Maggie than Jubal.
"That depends, will you be there if we do?" Maggie asked OA as she knew this would let her know if they would really be okay.
"You kidding? My best friend is marrying or technically remarrying the love of her life, hell yeah I'm there." OA smiled, yes, he had been angry at the beginning, but Maggie had been right, she had been honest about her relationship just not his identity and he did now understand why they had gotten married without telling them as it was only a day ago.
"Oh god that means OA is going to help you with the planning, this party is going to get out of hand, isn't it?" Jubal groaned playfully, because he would have as many parties as possible to show and tell everyone how much he loved Maggie, his wife.
"Hey man, it will be the best party ever, any maybe by then it will feel a little less strange calling you and Maggie husband and wife." OA laughed softly.
"I'm not sure I'll ever get used to being the one that gets to call Maggie my wife." Jubal smiled as he leaned down kissing Maggie softly.
"Yeah, introducing you as my husband is going to be my new favourite thing." Maggie smiled against Jubals lips.
"Look at that, they've already got the sickeningly sweet loving touches, glances and kisses nailed for the pictures." Tiffany laughed as she shrugged her shoulders as it was true, but they were so happy for their friends seeing how happy they were.
"Wait… does anyone else at work know?" Scola asked the minute that popped into his head.
"That we are married? No, but Isobel does know that we have been living together for the last six months." Jubal smiled laying his head lightly against Maggie's.
"Oh, good luck explaining to Isobel why you got married behind her back when she already knew about you guys." OA smirked joking playfully with them.
Before Maggie or Jubal could reply they all jumped hearing Isobel speak "They are lucky that I am willing to forgive them both since they are so happy together and I'm hoping that there'll be a party to celebrate."
"This weekend there will be a party and it's going to be the best party ever since I'm helping with most of the planning so make sure you are free." OA smiled at Isobel now excited that he was getting to be a part of it.
"I'm going to regret letting OA plan this with you aren't I?" Jubal joked looking at Maggie.
"Just remember that all of your favourite people will be there babe and they will be celebrating us being husband and wife." Maggie smiled as she kissed Jubal softly.
"Hmm okay that makes me okay with the idea." He chuckled softly as he placed small kisses to Maggie's lips.
When he broke the kiss Jubal sat back in the chair keeping his arm around Maggie as he listened to OA, tell him, Maggie, Tiffany, Scola and Isobel some of his ideas for the party. Jubal couldn't help but be so thankful in that moment, for the team who had stepped in to defend him when they didn't have to and for the fact that Maggie was willing to hear him out. He thought that his past had managed to screw up one of the best things that has ever happened him. He wasn't sure that he would ever feel completely worthy of Maggie's unconditional love, and he knew that he was going to spend every day of the rest of their lives together being so thankful that she chose and was choosing to spend her life with him.
