Chapter 13
Violet stood with Peggy in the briefing room in their headquarters. She looked down at the map on the table, her brows furrowed as Steve began to mark out the precise coordinates on the map.
"The fourth one was in Poland, here, not far from the Baltic… And the last was outside of Strasbourg, say thirty, forty miles west of the Maginot line." Steve looked up at them. "I only got a quick look."
Peggy's lips twitched slightly. "Nobody's perfect."
An aid quickly picked it up and carried it across the room.
The three of them turned as Howard came up to them holding a blue cartridge in his hands that Steve had gotten from Hydra. "Hey, aren't you supposed to be picking up a medal right about now?"
"I'm off the publicity circuit." Steve replied easily.
Violet let out a soft laugh putting her hand up to her mouth.
Colonel Phillips came across the room with a sour look upon his face. "Rogers, you just embarrassed a senior senator in front of a dozen reporters and ten members of Parliament." He handed Steve a medal. "You should get a medal just for that." He noticed the cartridge that Howard held in his hands. "You figure out what this is, yet?"
"If you believe Rogers, it's apparently the most powerful explosive known to man." Howard said, looking over at Steve.
"If?" Steve questioned his brow, looking over at Howard.
"Well, either you're wrong or Schmidt's damn near rewritten the laws of physics." Howard said, moving towards his lab. "And I'm rather fond of the laws of physics…"
Phillips walked over towards the room sized map table. "These are all of Hydra's factories."
"The ones we know about. But Sgt. Barnes said Hydra shipped all the bombs to another facility. And that...wasn't on the map."
Phillips studied the map before making his choice. He turned on his heels and walked towards his office. "Agent Carter, coordinating with MI6. I want every Allied eyeball looking for that main Hydra base."
"What about us?" Peggy questioned raising a brow wondering why he was doing this. Were they finally going after Hydra and shutting them down?
"We're going to light a fire under Johann Schmidt's ass." He looked over at Steve. "What do you say, Rogers? It's your map. Think you can wipe Hydra off it?"
Steve started at the map for a moment. His heart ramming in his chest. Finally the responsibility that he had wanted for a long time. "I'm going to need a team."
"We've already started lining up the best men."
"If you don't mind, sir...so Have I."
Violet nodded her head at Steve before turning on her heels to leave the room. She could only hope that the men that Steve picked would be good to fight to bring down Hydra.

Violet walked into the bar dressed nicely in a mint green dress that her brother had bought for her prior to the US going to war. Her hair was done up nicely pulled back away from her face showing her slim neckline. She gripped onto the clutch that she carried in her hand as she looked around the bar with a sharp look in her hazel eyes. Her heart pounded lightly in her chest knowing that coming out for the evening to let off some steam was a good idea, but she would have to watch herself. She walked towards the bar slowly, her heels clicking lightly on the hardwood floor, gripping her clutch as she made her way up to the bartender knowing that a much needed Whiskey was going to help a lot. She slowly sat down in one of the chairs at the bar and lifted her hand up to order a drink.
The bartender came up to her. "What can I get for you ma'am."
"Whiskey." She said softly, keeping her voice low enough that no one could hear except for the bartender.
"Yes, Ma'am." The bartender said with a nod of his head turning to go and get her the drink that she ordered.
She swallowed the lump in her throat as her ears picked up the noise around her. The talking of the team that Steve was bringing together so they could go after Hydra. Her lips quirked a little bit in thought. She had to admit the young man from Brooklyn was doing a rather good job for himself in trying to get his team together.
The bartender came over with her shot of whiskey putting it down before her.
Violet got out the proper amount of money and put it down onto the table sliding it to him. "Thank you." She said with a small smile.
The bartender nodded his head and moved away to put the money into the cash drawer.
Violet put her hand carefully onto the glass hearing the laughing of the men knowing that they all had agreed to join Steve's team. She heard the heavy footsteps as Steve walked towards the bar to open up a tab and order more drinks. Her hazel eyes slid over to Steve who slipped in between her and his best friend, Bucky.
"Another round?" Steve said, sliding the glasses onto the bar with a sheepish smile upon his face.
The bartender looked down at the glasses, impressed. "Where are they putting all this?"
Steve shrugged his shoulders, turning his attention to Bucky.
"That was the easiest battle of the war." Bucky mused softly as he took a drink of his beer before him.
"What about you? You gonna follow Captain America into the jaws of death?" Steve mused with a small smile wondering if his friend was willing to go out with him and into the jaws of death to bring Hydra down.
"Hell no. That little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb to run away from a fight? I'm following him." Bucky nodded to the tour poster of Captain America. "But you're keeping this outfit, right?"
"Don't get your hopes up. It's not exactly regulation."
"I dunno. You saw those guys in Italy when you came back. I don't think they were cheering just for you."
Violet tried her best to not chuckle as she took a drink from her whiskey glass. She tried to get over the fact that the drunken singing was alright and not going to be a bother, but she knew better. She would have to listen to good music later on to get the drunken singing out of her ears. It was like she had done with her brother when he really went on a bender and ended up crashing on her couch at her little apartment. She turned her head when she noticed that the drunken singing had stopped. She turned in her chair seeing Peggy entering dressed nicely in a red dress.
Steve turned slowly, being the last one to see the brown-haired brown eyed woman.
"Captain." Peggy said with a smile.
Steve got up to his feet, his cheeks heating slightly in embarrassment. "Agent Carter."
Bucky looked the brown haired woman over. "Ma'am."
"Howard's got some equipment for you to try. Tomorrow morning?"
"That sounds fine."
Violet winced as the singing started up once again. She lifted her glass up and emptied it out easily. She put it down onto the table and lifted her hand up again to order another round.
The bartender came up to her. "Ma'am another?"
"Five more please." She said looking up at the man.
"Five?" He was rather surprised that she was ordering 5 more drinks of whiskey.
"Please." She said reaching into her clutch to pay for it. "Don't worry, I can handle my whiskey."
The man nodded his head as he took the glass from in front of her to go and get five more shots of whiskey for the young woman.
Violet's brows pinched together as she tried her best to listen into Peggy's and Steve's conversation.
"I see your crack squad is prepping for duty." Peggy mused softly.
"You don't like music?" Bucky questioned curiously.
"I do, actually. I may even, when this is all over, go dancing."
"Then what are we waiting for?"
"The right partner. 08:00, Captain."
"Yes ma'am. I'll be there." Steve said, sounding like he was smiling. He patted his friend on the shoulder. "Maybe she's got a friend."
Bucky let out a soft huff. "Don't you have one more person that you want to ask to join our crack squad?" Bucky said, rolling his eyes slightly.
Steve's eyes slid over to Violet who was sitting at the bar. "Yes. She's at the bar."
"You want her?" Bucky asked, his eyes landing on the woman dressed in a mint green dress.
"Yes, she was very helpful in getting me to save you and the others."
Violet finished two of the five shots of whiskey that she had gotten as she heard the heavy footsteps of Steve along with the lighter footsteps of Bucky.
Steve cleared his throat lightly. "Agent Howlett."
Violet turned some in the seat that she sat in to look at Steve. "Captain Rogers." She said with a small smile. "What can I help you with?"
Steve cleared his throat once again shifting nervously on his feet.
Violet's brow slightly raised as she looked at Steve.
"I have a question for you, ma'am."
She put the glass she held in her hand down before looking at Steve once again. "And what would that be?" She questioned curiously as she looked at the Captain through her lashes. She wondered if he had asked Colonel Phillips about her and what she could do. Was he really about to ask her to join the Howling Commandos to go into the jaws of death and fight against Hydra.
"Will you join us, going into the jaws of Death?"
Violet let out a soft hum looking up at him, her lips quirking a little bit. "You've talked to Colonel Phillips about my file." She pointed out knowing that Phillips couldn't keep his mouth quiet.
"I heard that you were very good at what you do, ma'am."
Violet let out a soft hum. "Fighting? Yes, I can say I've done enough fighting to last me a while." She mused softly as she grabbed her drink before downing it easily. "I think I'll join your team Captain." She smiled knowing that she honestly couldn't pass this up, and it would make her brother Jimmy fairly proud to know that she was doing something besides making phone calls and talking to soldiers. She was getting involved in the war the way that he had hoped that she would be involved.
"Are you certain that you want to follow us into death?" Bucky questioned his brows furrowing slightly in concern. She was a nice dame and all, but how would she be able to handle being around men and fighting?
Violet's hazel eyes moved to Bucky's blue eyes. Her lips quirked a little bit before letting out a soft chuckle. Her tongue clicked against her teeth as she eyed the brown haired man. "Don't worry handsome." She said, giving him a small smile. "I know what I'm doing. My brother didn't train me in the ways of guns for nothing. I'm very lethal when I need to be." She mused softly before looking at Steve picking up her last glass finishing it off before standing up. She picked up her clutch and looked at both men. "I will be seeing you tomorrow, Captain. Sargent." She nodded her head before heading towards the door.
"You're serious about having her, Steve in our team?" Bucky questioned his friend, softly very unsure of the whole idea of having a woman joining the team.
"Bucky I've asked about her file talking to Colonel Phillips about it. She's good at what she does."
Bucky took a breath watching her leave. "Well, if you're sure that she'll be a good asset to us… I won't question you."
Steve looked at his friend smiling at him. "I knew you wouldn't disagree with her joining. If she is good at what she does."
Bucky swallowed the lump in his throat nodding his head. He honestly had no idea of what he was about to get into. But he was willing to find out about how lethal that Violet could be and what her brother had taught her. Also she wasn't all that bad to look at. He just hoped that she wouldn't become a distraction.

This is the end of Chapter 13. I hope that you guys enjoyed this chapter. I'm hoping to have one more chapter finished up so I have a few chapters to post, but sadly I know that I won't have enough to make it through the time that I'm healing up. I'm currently finishing this chapter on the 28th of February and it's the day before I go in for surgery. I'm actually going to try to type with one hand to make sure that I get chapters out and try to have a somewhat normal posting schedule. Please leave a review and let me know what you think of this chapter. I hopefully will have a new update next week with a brand new chapter. I'm planning way ahead at the moment and currently I'm in Captain Marvel which is set in 95 I believe and I'm planning up to Chapter 40 with more chapters being planned out. I have a feeling that this story is going to be a fairly long one which I'm kind of excited about. I don't know when this story will end just yet, but honestly I have a feeling that this story is going to be past 150 chapters if not more. But I hope to have another chapter ready to go, but if not I apologize. Until next time.
