An egg had greeted the Fairy Tail guild like a shooting star. He was encased within a dragon egg that was actually a magical force field. It was the evening when Makarov Dreyar had found Natsu and invited him to join Fairy Tail when they were greeted by a note placed on top of the dragon egg that was waiting for them.
Dear Makarov Dreyar,
Within this dragon egg holds your grandson Kale Neoma. He was born through a child that was created from your DNA and an unknown female mage when you both turned 18. You don't remember it because both of your memories were erased. Your daughter was named Alya Dreyar who had become a wielder of Dragon Slayer Magic as well as the man she married. She sacrificed her life for her child just so he could live in a more peaceful time.
Within the letter were photographs of Alya when she was born, when she was a child/adolescent, later when she was an adult, when she was pregnant, and afterwards when she was holding her newborn son with her husband beside her.
Holding in his tears he placed the letter and photos within a photo album while he left Natsu in charge of the egg. At that moment the egg began to crack until a baby boy had emerged. Luckily he was in a playpen as eyes were all around him. He was small and had the most adorable blue eyes. He had a small tuft of pale yellow blonde hair as he let out a small hiccup as white fire escaped from his tiny mouth.
Makarov walked back into the guild hall to see the newborn floating before he suddenly flew towards Makarov. The tiny bundle smiled softly as Laxus walked over.
"Can we name him Gramps?" Laxus asked
"He already has a name. His name is Kale Neoma, and he's your cousin." Makarov says before explaining it to Laxus in private
Kale was a calm and happy child and was very adaptive in magic for one who could barely walk. He developed sibling bonds with Natsu, Gray, and Erza. On his second birthday he was gifted with a giant egg. Natsu and Lisanna had found it in the forest and Natsu said it reminded him of Igneel. The egg was as heavy as a boulder and had maroon scales covering it. Kale placed his hands on it and the egg suddenly cracked and splintered into tiny pieces revealing a dragon exceed. Happy was excited to have another friend like him; however, Natsu felt a tinge of jealousy because Kale got a dragon as a friend.
The dragon had maroon scales, a pale cream-yellow torso, and small deep blue horns. He was given the name Phoenix which he gave a happy smile towards as he perched onto Kale's head and flapped his wings and flew around the guild.
While learning how to talk, walk, read, and write Kale was also learning about his own magic. He had many books to help but he was mostly taught within his slumber when he was encountered a dragon who's scales looked like diamonds.
Every night he was greeted by Zelenia, the matriarch of all dragons and the wielder of celestial magic. She was a beautiful white mixed with a silvery gray which gave her scales the appearance of diamonds. She had a gentle appearance as she told Kale the history of his parents and that he was born in the year X732 and both of his parents used a time travel spell to send him into the future.
Zelenia taught Kale the foundation of Celestial Dragon magic by teach him elemental magic. By the time he was six years old he could use them all separately before the ultimate test had come to combine them all into one.
On one sunny day Porlyusica, the medicinal advisor of Fairy Tail, was foraging through the forest when she spotted the young grandchild of Makarov. She kept a close eye on him as she watched him sit in front of the lake as he was consumed within a white light. Suddenly orbs escaped from his form as the floated around him. These orbs were made of different elements such as fire, wind, iron, water, earth, light, shadow, and lightning. As they circled him slowly each element slowly fused into one another creating a milky white-pink orb as it began to glow brightly.
"Congratulations my child you have created celestial magic. You are now ready to learn my spells." Zelenia smiled
"Thank you, Zelenia." Kale smiled as the milky white-pink orb disappeared
Today was July 7, X784 Kale's 7th Birthday. Mirajane was going through the checklist to make sure everything was in order. Everything looked to be in order as everyone was helping set everything up.
"Everything looks to be a-okay." Elfman said proudly
"Just as long as Natsu and Gray don't start up another brawl like last year and destroy the cake." Macao sighed
"For a child his anger couldn't be matched." Wakaba said as a shiver of fear went down his spine
"Kale does love his sweets just like Erza does." Cana smirked
Three large triple tier Fantasia cakes had arrived from the Magnolia Town Cake Shop as everyone was in awe of the delectable desserts. The present table was piling up as everyone was getting ready.
"Man I can't wait to get home." Natsu said as he and his team walked into the entrance way of Magnolia Town
"Why's that?" Lucy asked
"Because today is Kale's Birthday." Happy responded
"Yeah if Natsu doesn't start another fight things will go smoothly." Gray smirked
"What did you say you damn icicle?!" Natsu shouted
"That's enough." Erza said sternly
"Yes ma'am." Natsu and Gray said out of fear
"At last year's birthday party for Kale everything was going well until Natsu and Gray start to make snide remarks towards one another. It turned into a big brawl until they destroyed his birthday cake." Erza explained to Lucy
"I couldn't even imagine how upset Kale was?" Lucy inquired
"Upset doesn't even compare to what we were subjected too." Gray said with a shiver
"It was like Erza but scarier." Natsu said out of fear
"So that means you two better be on your best behavior." Erza responded as both boys nodded
"What should we get him as a gift?" Lucy asked
"How about a fish?" Happy asked cheerfully
"Not everyone likes fish as much as you Happy." Lucy giggles
That's when Lucy remembered Kale saying that he wanted a scarf like Natsu's as an idea sparked in her head. Team Natsu returned home with their gifts in hand as they placed them on the present table. Laxus went to go find Kale and bring him back to the guild as the Master greeted the team asked for a report. Erza explained that everything had went well as Master Makarov congratulated them on a job well done.
Lucy was enamored by the decorations as she sat at a table and waited. Suddenly the doors opened as Laxus had Kale on his shoulders as everyone shouted surprise and happy birthday to Kale. Kale had a big happy smile on his face as walked over towards his grandfather and gave him a hug. Everything was going well when there was a slight ground rumble as the floor of the guild hall caved in. The guild was slowly sinking into the ground as everyone had narrowly got out safe and into the basement. Upon returning to Fairy Tail, Erza, Gray, Natsu, Lucy and Happy find the guild impaled by numerous giant metal rods. Informing them about the situation Mirajane tells the team that the Phantom Lord Guild is behind the attack.
During that time, the guild members are all in the basement, with Makarov welcoming Team Natsu back as if nothing happened. Natsu is clearly upset that Makarov is just ignoring what happened, but Makarov then reminds the group that they went on an S-Class Job without his permission, subsequently punishing them. Meanwhile Kale had somehow got out and was in tears as his rage was rising. It wasn't until he caught a metallic scent when he bumped into someone.
He was a tall and muscular young man with long, spiky black hair, which was slicked back, revealing his forehead. He had red eyes with slitted dark pupils, and has no visible eyebrows. Most of his exposed body is covered in sets of simple, round studs. The most visible studs are on his face, with three of them above each of his eyes, two on each side of his nose, and two on his chin, just below his mouth. His ears are adorned by two sets of five earrings each. He also sports four studs on each of his forearms, with his right one being covered in scars. He wore a shabby, black, sleeveless tunic with studded edges, a studded belt around his waist, loose, beige pants tucked inside studded black boots, and a pair of studded brown gloves paired with similarly studded wristbands.
"What where you're going runt." The stern man growled as he kicked Kale in the stomach
Kale rolled over as he coughed trying to get air into his lungs when suddenly he felt a hand grab him by the hair as he was picked up by the tall scary man.
"You're apart of that puny Fairy Tail guild aren't ya?" The man asked
Kale felt fear course through his body as he transformed his feet into iron and kicked the man across the jaw. This caught the man off guard as he dropped Kale who immediately ran away.
"Iron magic? There's no way. That puny runt couldn't know my style of magic." The man growled within his thoughts
The man was named Gajeel Redfox, the Iron Dragon Slayer of Phantom Lord. Gajeel chases after Kale as they start a fight. Gajeel transforms his arm into an extendable iron rod that wraps around Kale. Pulling him close Gajeel stares into Kale's eyes. Suddenly Kale released a torrent of water from his mouth before coming back with a wind attack with froze Gajeel's head.
"Water and Wind? How many elements does this brat know?" Gajeel question as he easily shattered the ice
Gajeel knocked Kale unconscious and took him to his guild. In the Phantom Lord's base, Gajeel appears, eating different metal parts before telling his Guild Master his another attack on Fairy Tail, having beaten the team Shadow Gear and crucified them to a tree while also snatching another peculiar mage also from Fairy Tail. Gajeel escorts the Guild Master into the dungeons of Phantom Lord to show Kale who was suspended in the air and held in place by shackles.
"What magic can he do?" The guild master asked
"Apparently Iron, Wind, and Water. I doubt that's all though. No one this young can know that many elements in that short amount of time." Gajeel responded
"Hmmm we may have the advantage here. Good work Gajeel." The guild master said
Back at Magnolia, the townspeople and Fairy Tail Mages shockingly witness such act. Makarov then arrives on the scene and, now completely serious, says that Phantom Lord has gone too far. As he crushes his staff in rage, Makarov officially declares war between the two guilds.
With Lucy remaining to the guild to watch over the injured team, the rest of Fairy Tail attacks Phantom Lord's base in retaliation. The Element 4 and Gajeel, however, are nowhere to be seen, something which easily grants the upper hand to the invading force. The Phantom Lord's Dragon Slayer then shows up, wondering whether he should join the fray. Gajeel finally joins in and starts fighting Elfman. However, their brief confrontation is interrupted by Natsu, who goes on to fight Gajeel himself. In the meantime, Makarov has reached the second floor of the building and is ready to confront Jose. However, Phantom Lord's Master is revealed to be using a Thought Projection, with which he also shows Makarov an unconscious, captured Kale.
Shocked by this, Fairy Tail's Guild Master is caught off guard by Element 4's Aria and his Metsu Spell, which deprives him of his Magic and heavily damages him, forcing Fairy Tail to retreat, carrying their injured Master with them. Meanwhile as Gajeel is keeping guard on Kale the young child begins to glow as the chains that were holding him suddenly turn to ash. Gajeel watches as elemental orbs emerge from his body before forming into one and disappearing into Kale.
"Hello, Son of Metalicana." Zelenia greeted while possessing Kale
"Who? What are you?" Gajeel asked
"I'm the mother of all dragons, Zelenia." Zelenia responded
"So the brat is a Dragon Slayer as well?" Gajeel questioned
"This brat is far more powerful than you could ever imagine. Hence why he could use Iron Dragon Magic." Zelenia explained
Gajeel pinned Kale by the throat and threatened his life by placing his arm that he transformed into an iron sword against his neck.
"Such disrespect you show." Zelenia said in a stern tone as she backhanded Gajeel who created a crater within the wall
As the Phantom Lord Guild Master is readying to set off another attack the entire guild is encase within a white light as the guild fired but nothing happened. Enraged Natsu suddenly appears but is kicked away by Gajeel. He tries to ask for assistance but no one is responding. Meanwhile the entire Phantom Lord Guild is unconscious because of Kale, under the influence of Zelenia, had his fun with his first combat experience. Hearing a boom Kale flies towards to see Natsu and Gajeel fighting.
Natsu and Gajeel appear to be evenly matched, but then Gajeel eats some of the metal floor to replenish his stamina and strength before starting to overwhelm Natsu. Kale summons a ball of fire as he surprise attacks Gajeel and forces Natsu to eat the fire.
"Kale you can use fire magic?" Natsu asks
"Now's not the time." Kale responds as Gajeel tosses Kale far away
Now on his feet again, Natsu only continues to receive a brutal beating from Gajeel. The latter then rapidly consumes the flames to heal up, thanking Kale for his help. Gajeel then charges towards him, but Natsu, now being able to fight back, overwhelms him. Having struck him numerous times, he uses Crimson Lotus: Fire Dragon's Fist to finish Gajeel off and destroy Phantom Lord's building even further. As the guild collapses Kale and Natsu escape with the help of Kale's teleportation magic.
Once Kale is safe and sound Makarov joins in on the fight. Makarov orders everyone to get away since a fierce battle is about to start, which, in fact, subsequently makes the sky and earth tremble as the two Wizard Saints clash.
Both Guild Masters manage to injure the other, but then Makarov tells Jose to back down before he counts to three. He then grows larger and starts the countdown, generating light in his hands, but Jose refuses to bow and insults his opponent. With the three seconds passed, Makarov activates his Fairy Law, prompting a gigantic aura of light to appear on the Phantom Lord's building. The light takes out all of Jose's Shades without doing damage to any of the Fairy Tail members. Jose is defeated by the attack, looking like a complete opposite of himself. Just as the victorious Makarov is then leaving, Aria shows up behind him, hoping to deprive Makarov of his Magic again, but, this time, Fairy Tail's Guild Master notices and defeats Aria with only one punch. He then leaves, telling Aria to take his Master away with him and disappear before he changes his mind about not informing the Magic Council.
With the war between Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord over the members of the guild return their ruined home. Kale gently tugged on his grandfather's shirt as he nods before sitting beside him as everyone watches in awe as the building is slowly resurrected and returned to its normal state. Kale's birthday party continues with everyone have cake while Erza keeps one of the cakes for herself.
