Chapter one Rebuilding

In the aftermath of the war between Piltover , Noxus and Viktors crusade for his glorious evolution Ekko sat back watching the people from the rooftops honor their loved ones on the bridge as they lit their pieces of paper burning the last remnants of the beings that laid down their lives protecting the two cities. Tears of sorrow lined his sunken sleep deprived sable cheeks flicking a piece of his own paper delicately in his calloused fingers. " I'm sorry…I wished things were different. I could have saved you from all this. If I had been more careful I would have never given the tip about …that damn apartment…..". Ekko hissed in frustration, still playing around with it and opening the paper reading the crudely written text powder. Ekko sighed, lighting it a blaze thinking fondly on the timeline where he and she were living happily in Zaun without fear , suffering and agony. When he took over the shop for an aging benzo , the streets lined with people of all creeds celebrating the day of progress and sounds of laughter echoed throughout the alley ways.

The boy savior dwelled on he and Jinx's conversation whilst talking her out of killing herself and him via bomb explosion rewinding many times over saving them growing tired covered in wounds. Before the assault on Piltover about what happened between the time he was gone till now. Jinx was taken aback by Ekko recalling the events of the other universe, how cloggor and milo survived, vander still ran the last drop along with Silco as they re their ongoing conflict with each other and.. How this all happened due to vi dying in the process. Jinx flinched with that last sentence as she shook her head wanting tears to burst from her eyes as they always did. " po…I mean jinx..you know I always cared about you it's why i'm here..I always loved you." " ekko… ..you should have stayed there instead you came here to bother me with this. I can't do this. I'd rather just end it all I'M TIRED OF THIS EKKO EVERYONE HURTS AND DIES BECAUSE OF ME! IT'S ALWAYS ME THE JINX THE FUCK UP THE BROKEN MACHINE THAT CAN'T BE REPAIRED OR FIXED DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?! She yelled as her face was painted with tears streaming down her cheeks again. Ekko held her in his arms consoling her , she wailed painfully shivering in his embrace recounting her story of what happened with her vi , vander and isha. "Isha…" she said softly, now calming down slumped over on ekko mumbling her thoughts. "Jinx.. I'm so sorry.. If I was there I would have.." he trailed off before holding her tighter " I won't leave you ever again ok? Jinx sighed and sat up with i'm looking at him with the most somber, tired expression and lightly placed her hands at the sides of his face as she pulled him into a hug nuzzling his cheek. " You never gave up on me boy savior but the powder you knew and loved is dead..it would be nice to just go back to the way things were but I don't even think even your timey device can't undo what's done..I'm too broken to love you maybe in the universe like you said things worked out but not this one…but i'll do this for you and vi ok?" He sat in silence for a bit then nodded accepting her answer. He then broke the silence proposing their plan and even going as far to cheer her up by coloring and drawing all over themselves and their equipment. Jinx for the first time in a long time cracked the smallest sad smile

Ekko closed his eyes lying alone on the roof looking at the sky he rarely saw most times as he was down deep in Zaun. " I can't believe shes gone again..I can't even keep a fucking promise but at least most made it out". As the months passed Zaun and Piltover started to collect the pieces all around them rebuilding homes and even making Zaun at least safer and habitable with filtering the water ways, making cleaner drinking water and fixing the ventilation systems that were put in place by Caitlyn's late mother.

Meanwhile within the taller hills in Piltover caitlyn goes over a project blueprint that was presented to her at the most recent council meeting given to her by Councillor Sevika to her surprise she had grown fond of and respected due to her taking up the mantle as the ambassador of Zaun. Her sheer loyalty to her home and resilience in the face of chaos and danger Caitlyn admired that about her and protected her during meetings when the others would look down on her and Vi.

While Caitlyn was mumbling under her lips running her nibble yet course fingers over the plans someone suddenly nudged her shoulder shoving a silver platter with hot tea and a nicely crafted glass sugar bowl which highlighted that caitlyn was more than enough wealthy in front of her face spooking her a bit. " oh! ..Vi! You nearly made my heart fall out of my chest!" Vi snicker sitting down next to her on a cushioned stool scooting it closer almost leaving little to no space. " Haha.. sorry cupcake I saw you shoving your nose into yet another blueprint thought you would need a bit of a break from all this pressure. " thank you vi but I think this is important even for you to look at this" caitlyn rolled out the parchment wider to make it easier to see. Vi's eyes gleamed as she noticed it was Ekko's handwriting and saw plans for more green spaces in Zaun in glass houses and buildings. " This is amazing! Damn little man did know you were a complete genius." Caitlyn smiled and took a small sip of her tea. " Yes, your friend is quite remarkable. He reminds me of Jayce but with more of you and professor Heimerdinger in the mix." Just before Vi could get another word in the door, Caitlyn's study flung open with a streak of blonde running through and Caitlyn's frantic father trying to catch up to them but failed miserably. Caitlyn's eye was full of shock as a lanky blonde kid breathed heavily like he was in a panic and on the verge of crying "CAITLYN OH GODS ARE YOU OK?!" he shouted obnoxiously before kneeling over trying to catch his breath. " E-EZREAL WERE THE IN GODS AND REGIONS HAVE YOU BEEN?!" Vi looked completely dumbfounded as they acted like kids who lost each other in the markets and finally found each other.

(( that's all for now it's a bit of a slow burn but will build up quickly next chapter will focus on ekko and ezreal meeting))
