Summary: Kagome couldn't recall how she came to be there, but she knew she had to find her way out. It's lucky, or maybe not so lucky, that she has a habit of drawing others in, and the beings of this strange world are no different. They're drawn to her, and it only makes leaving that much harder.

Pairing: Undecided

Chapter One

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.

The persistent splat of something cold and wet against her cheek led her to stir from her unconscious state. Dark, neat brows furrowed as her face scrunched up. A moment or two later, she slowly shifted on the floor. A stabbing pain shot through her head even at the faintest of movements, causing her to freeze. Her hand came up, burying in raven locks as she willed the ache to fade. She used her abilities, the pain steadily ebbing away.

"Where… am I?" Those words spilled forth in a low murmur. She tucked her knees under her, slowly pulling her hand away from her head and pressing her fingers against the filthy ground she'd woken up on. A pang of dread settled in the pit of her stomach. Or maybe it was unease? Fear? Perhaps a mix of all three? A faint tremble raced down her spine, bright blue eyes narrowing some as she tried to reach out as far as she could with her senses.

She could feel all sorts of different auras, but not a single one was of someone she knew. Not only that, but they all felt… off. Not in the same sense a demon's aura felt, and it left her with the grim feeling of unfamiliarity. She was used to strange situations, but…

Something about all this felt much worse.

Slowly, she pushed herself up onto her feet, dirt and debris rustling some as she stabilized herself. She set a hand against the wall beside her, glancing around her to try and gather her bearings on where she needed to go. The mostly dark hallways certainly didn't do much to help her. After a few seconds of trying, she breathed a soft sigh and shook her head.

"It's not like I'm in some normal situation," Kagome murmured, almost berating herself for trying to maintain an ordinary appearance. She brought her hand away from the wall. As she did, a faint pink glow formed along her palm. "What good is that gonna do for me, anyway?"

With that thought barely audible to even her own ears, she breathed another sigh and started down the hall. It wasn't that far of a walk to the doorframe, and as soon as she stepped through it, she was greeted by a familiar shape in the distance.

Was it just a straight line then?

At the end of the hall, there was a red light over the doorframe, lighting up and casting an eerie warm light almost all the way over to where she stood. She took a few more steps into the room, but before she could get far, the light flickered a few times before it turned off. A grimace flashed across her face at the omen that the entire situation seemed to paint for her.

"Greaaat…-" she sighed, about to make her way to the now dark doorway. Before she could take a step, she could feel the presence of something from the otherside. Upon feeling it, she froze in place. It wasn't even two second later before a figure appeared under the shadows, and she took a reflexive step back.

It was close to the ground, but despite that, she could still tell that whatever it was was much bigger than she was. She took another step back, preparing herself for whatever may come. When she backtracked, she stepped on a rock she hadn't noticed before, and she lost her balance. She fell to the ground, her hands landing behind her in an attempt to catch herself mid-fall.

As soon as she did, she felt that figure in the distance approach her, moving far too quickly for her comfort. Long dark hair fell over her shoulders as her eyes locked on gray skin, a flash of red visible from underneath the black bangs covering its face.

"λکሰટ?" (You okay?)

She blinked, confused for a moment at the unfamiliar language. Try as hard as she might, it didn't seem even the faintest bit familiar to her. Either way, it was clear he was asking her a question even if she didn't know what that question was.

"πኟਦυ?" (Hurt/Wounded)

She wasn't sure what to do in response to the situation. Based on aura alone, this figure didn't seem hostile, but she wasn't willing to stick around and see what would happen if his mood concerning her changed up. She'd been around her fair share of demons who were just a coin-toss from eating her if their mind changed.

She brought her hands up and pushed him away from her, swiftly getting back up onto her feet and sprinting around him. She didn't check up as she ran, feeling only vaguely as a pair of obscured eyes followed her until she was no longer visible.

"Find a way out," she murmured to herself as she fled, her feet carrying down halls that looked identaical to each other. "Get out first, and ask questions later…-" She had no inkling as to where she was even going, but in her current thought process, none of that even matters.

It wasn't until she barreled through a door into a room that looked different from the hallways she'd been sprinting down. Her breath came out in quick pants, and she doubled over some to try and calm her breathing back to an even level. She picked her head up a moment later, blue eyes landing on a different figure.

She stood back at her full height, not that it did anything to compare to the hooded figure in the middle of the otherwise empty room. Her hands tightened at her sides as the figure stood there, seeming to analyze her presence.

After a few seconds, the silence between was broken. This figure also spoke that unfamilar language, so she had no luck in understanding what he was trying to say.

"તટд บпป?" (You human?)

Kagome's brows furrowed as she tried yet again to wrack her brain for any hint as to what sort of language he was speaking. Try as hard as she might, she yielded no results. It was no language she was familiar with, but, then again, she wasn't an expert in all of them, just Japanese and the little bit of English she'd learned in school.

"તટд дд८ኅ ८ਦટบ کતሰנ?" (You not understand language?)

Kagome frowned as what he was trying to say, yet again, didn't connect in her head. After a moment, she sighed, combing a hand through her hair. "I have no idea what you're trying to say to me," she murmured.

A beat of silence built up between them followed by her disparaged response. Maybe her frustrated expression and the melancholy in her voice translated over easy enough, because a second later, he lifted a hand and motioned towards himself before speaking again.

"৺ጉנ." The following second, he moved his hand, motioning out to her. "તટд."

For the fourth time or so, she couldn't help but notice that word was repeated. With enough context, she pieced it together.

તટд must mean you, which meant ৺ጉנ must've meant me.

She wasn't able to make out his eyes from underneath the shadows of his hood, but she could tell he was looking at her as he repeated the gestures and words for a second and third time, as if trying to teach her them.

"તટд บпป?" He spoke again, and this time she reconized the faint inflection of a question. He was asking her a question, but it did no good when the second word was unknown to her still. She at least knew he talking about her.

After a moment of thought on her end, she shrugged, wordlessly expressing her lack of comprehension. In the back of her mind, she could recall learning about a spell that'd make language barriers thinner, but she couldn't recall exactly how it went. It was something Kaede had mentioned in passing, but she'd never fully learned it.

"Пતィλこ." (I see.)

The language seemed fairly primitive, the words forming almost like a list. There seemed to be a bit of specifics where which word went where when forming a sentence, but there didn't seem to be any particles. It erased a lot of the nuances of speech.

If that were the case, then learning it might not be all that hard to do? If she could understand the words and what they translated to in her own tongue, then she'd at least know what they were talking about and maybe even learn how to communicate back? She'd probably have to mimic their patterns, though, and cut out a lot of nuances. Simple and plain.

Not impossible, but it would surely be a challenge.

After a moment, she rested her hands on her hips and exhaled softly, glancing around the room she was in. The figure with her had gone silent.

She wasn't even sure what she should call him, but his hood definitely served to make him stand out. It was basic, but she'd settled on nicknaming him Mr. Hood for simplicites sake.

There were several items littering the room, and she glanced back at Mr. Hood. He seemed to be watching her, she could feel his eyes observing her. It was as if he was watching for what she'd do next.

Since he'd taught her two words of the unfamiliar language already, she wondered if he'd teach her a bit more?

She walked over to one of the many things in the room, feeling as his eyes followed her movements. Kagome paused under the lightbulb and motioned to it.

"What's this?" she asked. She knew he wouldn't understand what she said, so she hoped her tone and expression would convey her confusion.

"کつጉυ." (Light)

She perked up some when he uttered a new word, swiftly figuring it must've meant light or something close enough. She nodded, imprinting it to memory with the other words she'd leared for far. Not even a second later, the light went out, leaving the area dark.

"کつሰป." (Dark)

She nodded, putting two and two together, the two words seeming to be opposite of each other. The light came back on, the room lit up once more.

"дд८ኅ کつሰป." (Not dark.)

She reconized the first word in his response. He'd used it moments ago, but this time it was placed before the word dark. The room was lit up again, and she gave it a moment's thought. That word must've meant not, as adding the word seemed to give the other word the opposite meaning.

She motioned to the blue pail at her side.

"તጉਦこ." (Container)

Kagome nodded and motioned to the metal one.

"તጉਦこ." He had repeated the same word, and she nodded again. They were different materials, one plastic and the other metal, yet they were called the same thing. It made her wonder what else shared the same word…

"πㅗコ તጉਦこ." (Same container) He motioned to the second metal bucket beside the first, but this time what he said was different. The latter word was still there, but the first word was new. She furrowed her brow as she tried to apply context to the scene.

Second? Two? Same?

She could't be sure until she heard the word used in a separate context, even if she felt like she had a vauge enough understanding of it's meaning, considering he'd only used it for the two identical buckets.

She pushed the confusion from her head and turned away from the buckets. When she did, her gaze landed on a somewhat transparent figure in the corner. She reeled back at first, not having even realized someone had appeared due to her intense focus. They didn't move, not seeming to cause her any harm.

"ィこป." (Somebody else.) He turned to face the new addition just as she had. She could tell that that word referred to the new figure. "ィこป ጉп々ત." (Somebody else around.)

Kagome's brows furrowed again in concentration as she tried to put those words together. She knew one of them at least referred to someone else, but the latter was a bit harder. Did he just mean that there was someone else there? That made the most sense to her at that moment.

She glanced back at the figure, only to watch as they faded away in a haze of white.

"ィこป ጉኟㅗィ." (Somebody else dissapear.)

Kagome glanced back at the hooded figure after the semi-transparent being faded. Was he just telling her that they vanished? She frowned, her hands adjusting on her hips some as she glanced back at the place where the spectral figure had been. "I wonder where they went off to.." she murmured in a faint, thoughtful tone.

"ィこป ㄷコィこ." (Somebody else elsewhere.)

She nodded faintly, the full meaning of those words lost on her, but she got the feeling he was telling her that they weren't there anymore. After a moment she sighed and shook her head, brushing the thought out of mind.

Lastly, she made her way over to the door, setting a hand against it as she waited for him to offer her insight on the word for it. It didn't take him long to do just that.

"८πટ." (Door.)

Kagome nodded. She might not have a lot to go on, but at least she had a few words she knew, and a few she had a couple guesses for. She knew if she heard them a few more times in different context then she'd get it down.

In the back of her mind, she tried to recall that spell Kaede had mentioned. She knew if she could think about it, then that'd help a lot too. At least, she hoped it would.

She glanced back at Mr. Hood, who stood there observing her. She pushed against the door and it opened easily enough. He didn't stop her from going on, letting her leave when she was ready. He still watched her until she was out of sight, the heavy door closing behind her.

She paused on the otherside, noting three seperate ways to go and she folded her arms across her chest. She could feel things from all different paths, but now it was just a question which she'd like to test her luck with.

Auroua-chan: Gonna wrap this first chapter up here.

I am in love with Homicipher. It's such a fun and cute game! The text for the laguage was pulled from sweetsuke on Tumblr! It's really helpful! They have a google doc link on their tumblr, but I can't link it on this site sadly. I did link it over on the version posted to my Ao3 account if anyone wants a quick link to click on

Pairing is undecided but I have my favorites I'm leaning towards ~ Suggestions are welcome if anyone has any, too.

Anyway, thats it for now! Thank you all for reading and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review, Favorite, and Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
