Chapter 1:
The Archivist has arrived on Aranearum to meet up with his friend, Eugene. "You made it," says Eugene. The Archivist says nothing. "As silent as ever. Anyway, here's why I called you over. As an experienced monster hunter, you're the best man for this job! Choo-Choo Charles, a man-eating locomotive/spider monster who has been terrorizing the island. Follow me."
The Archivist and Eugene get on the train and just as they take off, Choo-Choo Charles attacks them! The Archivist tries to shoot back, but it's not working. "You really think that could work," asks Charles, "humans are far too easy!" Charles rams into the train, causing Eugene to fall out. Charles then kills him...
...
The Archivist finds his dying friend and grieves over him. "Find... my son... find the eggs... use them to summon and kill Charles..." Eugene is now dead.
The Archivist gets up. He made a promise to himself that he will kill Charles.
