Jughead

It was the day after the group had escaped Penelope's death game. Jughead was glad that Cheryl and the others had got there in time to save Betty and Veronica. Archie was still recovering from his throw down with the 'bear'. They had all spent the day talking to his father FP at the police station. Then Veronica had said she needed to check on her businesses. Archie said pretty much the same leaving not long after. Betty and Jughead had gone home to Elm street where they sat on living room couch waiting. Waiting for the next horrendous adventure to unfold before them. Finally they settled on a movie to ease their minds. Betty suggested Jughead go and pick up some Pop's and Jughead simple couldn't say no. So now here he was on his motorcycle speeding past houses with a dinner from Pop's in his lap. The smell of the burgers was heavenly after the day they had. All Jughead wanted to do was get home and eat with his genius girlfriend. As he kicked the motorcycle up to thirty miles per hour he started into a neighborhood close to the Cooper/Jones residence. He was halfway through the neighborhood when he got to the four way stop sign and slowed to a stop. He looked both ways before waiting his three seconds. He started into the middle of the intersection and then time slowed. One moment he saw the station wagon coming from his left going too fast to stop. The next it was colliding with him and the bike sending both flying to the right of the intersection. For a few moments all Jughead could sense was him flying through the air watching the night sky pass. His dinner flying past in a spray of French fries and burger toppings. Then time sped back up. He hit the ground hard and rolled over and over again. Finally his body came to a stop and he was laying broken on the pavement. It was a good thing Betty had convinced him to wear his helmet or he might be dead. Jughead looks around trying to assess the situation. He is now on the far right of the intersection having landed on the curb. He was laying half in the grass half out. He finally looks to where the car hit him and finds that it is still there now still in the middle of the intersection. The light of the headlights blinding him from seeing much else. His bike was about halfway between him and the car. His food was all over the intersection. Jughead tries to move his right arm but it doesn't respond. He does the same with his left and it very slowly rises from the pavement. His hand is covered in blood and he can only imagine what the rest of him looked like. He gently reaches up to his jacket and starts rummaging for his cell phone. He knows he should call the police and report the accident yet all his mind is telling him is to call Betty. He finally finds his phone and pulls it out of the padded Serpent jacket. He pulls up the call log and presses one to speed dial Betty. The screen becomes clouded with his bloody fingerprints as her name pops up. His whole body starts to shake as he puts the phone to his ear. He is smart enough to know he is only conscious and pain free due to the adrenaline. He has to get the call through before he passes out. The phone rings one...twice...three times. Then it goes to voicemail and Jughead immediately starts talking to it. "Betty it's me Jug. I got into a bad accident at the four way intersection of Maple and Oak. I know I should call the police but my dad is on shift don't need him worrying yet. So-" As Jughead is about to continue he hears the crunch of boots on pavement. He looks down to where the car still sits idling to find a tall man walking his way. Jughead didn't know why but he had a bad feeling. So he hung up and redialed Betty hoping to either get the girl herself or the voicemail. Either way she would hear the interaction about to take place. "Hey buddy you damn near killed me. There is a stop sign there for a reason." Jughead says to the strangers silhouette basked in the light of the headlights. The man says nothing as he continues his approach. "Look I won't press charges if you give me your insurance because man I have had enough excitement this week." The man stops three feet from Jugheads boots and reaches behind him. Jughead watches as the man pulls out a gun. His body begins shaking far worse than before and his mouth is agape not knowing what to say. "Look guy its not that big of a deal I won't say anything okay? There is no need for a gun." Jughead says secretly praising that the voicemail started up as he was saying his second quip. The man walked forward until he was boots to boots with Jughead. "I am seriously just go ahead and leave I will get a ride to the hospital." A kick to his right leg had him reeling. The world spun as he groaned in agony. "Shut up Mr.Jones it was no accident, I have been waiting all night. Now then your coming with me like it or not." With those words Jughead discreetly hung up on Betty and dropped the phone to the pavement before putting his one good hand up. "Look if your giving me a ride to the hospital there is no need to be so pushy." Jughead says with a smirk which almost immediately turns into a grimace as the man crouches down and squeezes his left leg. His vision was fuzzing out and turning black at the ages. His whole body jerked as though to get away from the pain. However the man had a death hold on his leg. "That will be enough banter from you Forsythe." The man says before leaning up and pulling the pistol back. Just as Jughead was about to respond the man brought the butt of the gun down across his face. His vision went completely black and the world beyond became distant as he passed out.
