LOCATION: Tokyo - Tengu City
Tengu city, a vibrant hub nestled within Tokyo Prefecture, pulsates with energy and innovation. Although it is geographically distinct, its integration with the greater Tokyo area is seamless. The skyline is a blend of low-rise structures that foster a sense of community, interspersed with striking high-rise buildings that dominate the central district. This city is renowned for its modernity, characterized by a network of public bunkers strategically located throughout, ensuring safety and preparedness for its residents. Almost every household boasts a personal bunker, reflecting the city's commitment to security and resilience.
Many buildings are additionally equipped with advanced retractable security systems. Ones that are specifically designed to mitigate the impact of Spacequakes, a testament to Tengu's forward-thinking approach to urban living. The combination of these features not only enhances the quality of life but also positions Tengu as a model for future cities around the globe. The streets are filled with people of two genders, some were parents walking with their kids in hand, and others were adults in business attire navigating their way through the crowd. The sounds of cars and trucks can be heard as they travel in different directions.
But like every other city throughout the globe, Tengu has its own history.
Tengu was a bustling metropolis once upon a time. But thirty years ago, it faced an unprecedented disaster when a devastating Spacequake struck, obliterating the city and leaving a staggering number of casualties in its wake. The destruction was so extensive that it spanned tens of kilometers, transforming the landscape and displacing countless residents. In the aftermath, the government initiated an ambitious rebuilding program, leveraging cutting-edge technology to reconstruct the city from its very foundations.
However, the lingering fear of future Spacequakes cast a shadow over the recovery efforts, resulting in a prolonged period of low population density. Essential infrastructure projects lagged, making the city a shell of its former self as the community grappled with uncertainty and loss. Despite these challenges, the spirit of Tengu's residents remained resilient, as they held onto hope for a brighter future amid the ruins. Now in today's time, within the city of Tengu as rain poured down, a young man named Shido Itsuka walked down the sidewalk.
Shido held a cyan umbrella above his head as he walked. He was looking through the weather app on his phone, and the message displayed on screen warned him about the approaching storm. Walking beside him were two of his friends, Tohka Yatogami and Yoshino Himekawa. Tohka held her own purple umbrella in one hand and licked her Ice cream in the other. Yoshino was also licking her ice cream while sticking close to Tohka to ensure she doesn't get wet from the rain.
"Well, it seems like this weather isn't gonna let up anytime soon," said Shido. "Guess we're gonna have to cancel our plans on going to the beach after all."
"Awww," Tohka whined, pouting a little. "I really wanted to go."
Shido glanced at Tohka and graced her with a small smile.
"Hopefully next time we'll go," Shido assured her, hoping the prospect might help lighten the mood. "If it makes you girls feel better, we can watch a movie tonight."
Yoshino smiled sweetly at Shido's suggestion.
"Can we watch beauty and the beast?" Yoshino asked, hopefully.
Yoshino's rabbit puppet, Yoshinon, glances up at Shido with a smile.
"Yeah, Shido. You promised that we would watch that one," Yoshinon reminded him, nodding in affirmation.
"What? But I wanna watch Cinderella," Tohka countered.
Shido placed a hand on Tohka's shoulder.
"We can watch it tomorrow, Tohka," Shido replied. "I promise, after school we…can…"
Shido trailed off when he faced forward. Tohka, Yoshino, and Yoshinon noticed the sudden shift in his demeanor. They turned their attention toward the street ahead and froze in their tracks when their eyes fell upon the sight before them. Lying motionless on the ground, they saw the shape of a human. Shido slowly approached the body and knelt beside it. Tohka and Yoshino quietly watched with curiosity and wonderment.
The unconscious human laying on the sidewalk was a teenage boy with short auburn hair. He donned a black and white jersey zip jacket, dark blue jeans, and casual sneakers.
"Is he okay?" Yoshino asked, looking down at the unconscious auburn hair boy with concern.
Shido placed two fingers on the boy's neck. As he did, he detected a steady pulse. A sigh of relief escaped his lips.
"He's alive," Shido announced.
Shido stared down at the boy with a mix of relief and worry flooding his mind. As glad as he was that this person seemed unharmed, he couldn't shake the nagging question of why he was lying in the middle of the sidewalk, drenched by the relentless rain. The storm raged around them, yet here was this auburn-haired boy, seemingly oblivious to the world. Shido gently shook his shoulder in an attempt to rouse him, but the boy remained unresponsive. With each passing moment, Shido's concern deepened; was he injured, or worse? The urgency of the situation pressed on him, and he felt a sense of responsibility to ensure the boy was safe, even if it meant calling for help.
Shido immediately got up to his feet. He reached down to his pocket, pulling out his phone and began dialing a familiar number. He brought the device up to his ear, all the while keeping his focus on the unconscious individual. After a minute or two, someone picked up the line.
"Hello?" Came a voice from the other end.
"Kotori, it's me," Shido answered.
"Shido?"
"You're not busy, are you?"
"No, why?"
Shido stared at the unconscious boy with concern and wonderment.
"I'm gonna need you to pick us up."
A/N: Hope all you shimmerings enjoyed the first chapter. I'd like to welcome you all to a new story, a crossover between one of my favorite anime shows - Date A Live - and another anime that I haven't watched for a long time - Fate: Stay Night. I could have made this chapter longer, but it really drains you. So I thought this chapter alone should be a good start. Longer chapters will come eventually but for now I'm making the next ones short like this one. Hope you all have a good day or night wherever you are.
See you all in the next chapter, my little shimmerings!
