At the sound of his name and the look on her face the hole inside my chest tore open. I wrapped my arms tight around me and it felt like the room was spinning. Jake walked up behind me and added his warm arm around my chest as well this eased the pain. The confusion was taking over I had no idea why or how anything happening here could relate to Edward, why does her face look like that. With jake standing so close I could hear the quiet stream of profanities he spit under his breath. I wondered briefly if his new friends were a bad influence over him. I moved out of jakes arm to sit on the couch.

"Bella pull yourself together we have to hurry," Alice snapped and the room was spinning but I couldn't understand why.

"Alice what happened?" I asked slowly.

"What did you do to her?" Jake asked and I could see that he was starting to shake.

"Calm down Jacob Black, you don't wanna do that so close to her," Alice snapped at him.

"I would never hurt her," He snapped back turning his glare on her.

"What happened Alice?" I asked raising my voice now.

"What is he thinking," Alice said suddenly and i notices she had her eyes closed and her eyes were fluttering back and forth under her lids. She stopped opened her eyes and pulled out a little silver cell phone out from her bag. She Dialed so quickly i could hardly see her fingers move. Alice walked into the other room as she talked to whoever she called, I looked over at Jake who was still shaking slightly.

"Jake," I croaked. "You need to calm down."

"I'm trying Bells, but Him, what he did, her bringing him up, I just can't." He said trying to breath deep. I stood walked towards him and laid my hand on his arm. The shaking started to ease.

"Rose, she told him what I had seen and now he believe you are dead. With you dead he wants to die too," she said still with a vacant expression.

"Carlisle just called here do you think that is related," I said quickly.

"When?" She asked.

"Just a few minutes ago," I replied.

"That is impossible Carlisle is still hunting," Alice replied.

"Are you calling me a liar?" Jake added unhelpfully.

"It wasn't, him it was Edward, what did you say?" She asked turning to jake.

"He asked for Charlie, I said he was at the funeral," Jake said trying to seem innocent but I could still see the rigid anger flowing through him though he was not shaking at the moment.

"Ok so he thinks I am dead you can just tell him next time you see him the truth," I said.

"You are incredibly calm Bella," Alice said he face still horror struck.

"I mean It is sucky timing but it will all get straightened out. I just can't figure out why you look like that?"

"Bella, Edward won't call again," she said quietly.

"I don't understand," I replied.

"Edward is going to Italy," Alice said abruptly and it felt as though the ground fell out from under me. Italy, I remembered once in this room Edward and I watching Romeo and Juliette as he told me of the ruling family who governed the vampires. How if he wanted to die provoking them would be his way. He was going to Italy to commit suicide but why.

"No, why would he do that? He can't do that," I shrieked.

"He made up his mind as soon as your friend confirmed it," She said glaring at Jake

"But Alice, he left me... Why would he do something like this. He didn't want me anymore and he left. I'm Human he knew I would die one day," I started to babble Begging her with my eyes to tell me this was some kind of joke.

"I don't think Edward ever planned to outlive you by very long," Alice said.

"What do we do Alice; how do we fix this. I don't want him to die," I said in a rush. Jake started moving towards me but i put a hand up there were only so many things i could handle dealing with at once. "Call him or Carlisle," I added.

"I already tried he threw his phone away," She whispered looking thoughtful.

"You said we have to hurry whatever it is let's go," I said now standing Infront of her grasping her ice-cold hand.

"Bella, I don't think I could ask you to do that, I wouldn't want to put you in danger," She said solemnly.

"I see him going before the Volturi and asking to die, if they say no we may have time to stop him before he can do something to provoke them," She said half to herself.

"Fine whatever let's go," I said tying to move past her to get to the stairs.

"Bella us going to save him will be very dangerous for both of us. If he succeeds, I will be an accomplice and you will be a very good smelling human. There is a high chance that neither of us will make it out of this encounter alive," she said.

"Is this what is keeping us here? I will go alone if I have to," I said again trying to get around her but she stopped me again.

"I am afraid of getting you killed," She said.

"I almost get myself killed all the time, I am not going to let Edward kill himself because he feels guilty about something that didn't even happen," I snap back at her.

"Write a note to Charlie, Ill get the airlines straightened out," She said turning her back to me a ran for the kitchen. My hand's were shaking now.

"What about Victoria, Charlie will be in danger," I whispered to no one in particular.

"Don't worry about Charlie, I will protect him," Jake said his voice low and angry for a split second my heart swelled at that. I glanced into his eyes and saw the heat, the loyalty and love inside them.

I quickly scrawled the note for Charlie and turned to my room throwing a few things in a bag and heading back down the stair.

"I do hope you have your Passport Bella," Alice called and as met her eyes I nodded once.

Jacob and Alice were locked in some confrontation in the doorway.

"You might be able to control yourself but the leeches your taking her too," He stopped mid-sentence , shaking once again with the anger boiling inside of him.

"Yes, your right dog, the Volturi is the very essence of our kind the reason your hair stands on end when I am near, but I will do everything in my power to bring Bella home alive," she said this like an oath.

"You're taking her to them like a bottle of wine," He retorted.

"Shes not safe here either not with Victoria stalking her," Alice said.

"We can handle the red-head," He spit back.

"Then why-" I cut off Alice.

"We can argue later, we need to go now," I said holding my hands up between them like a referee.

Jacob caught my arm as i walked out the door.

"Please Bella, I am begging you, don't go," He said his voice soft. I could see tear welling in those chocolate brown eyes.

"Jake, I have to," I whispered back. Taking my hand and swiping a tear that slid free.

"You don't though, you really don't he is not your responsibility. Stay here with me, and Charlie. You could stay alive," He said.

I turned to him knowing it wasn't fair. I knew that when I left he would feel like I had chosen Edwars. I wanted him to know that I wasn't choosing him that I was not going to let him kill himself because he thinks I did. That wasn't right. I might not come back but I hopped I did so I had the time to think through all of the things I have been feeling. I put my hands on his cheeks and slowly i leaned into him and pressed my lips firmly to his.

"I have to go Jake," I whispered when i pulled back from him walking away from him tears spilling down my face as I climbed into the car with Alice. I watched as we pulled away. Jake had dropped to his knees right there where I had left him. I left him, was it the same as Edward leaving me. Did I just break him the same way I had been broken. I will fix this, I will fix all of it.

"So you and the Black boy are more then just friends," Alice said keeping her tone neutral.

"Honestly I'm not sure," I said back quietly.

"You might not make it home," She said.

"I know, but if i do I have a very big mess here to clean up as well," I said looking over to her. Alice still looked grave.
