"Kaname! You are an absolute jerk! How could you?!" Yuki screamed the moment she got home to their sprawling mansion. With his vampire hearing, she knew he could be anywhere in that home and hear her fuming.
He appeared suddenly and, much to her chagrin, didn't even feign an apology. "You did assist me," he said.
Scowling, she leveled an angry look at him and barked, "How?! I found out nothing. The moment he saw me, he knew what I was and went absolutely berserk. He broke his hand on the plexiglass, trying to get to me to kill me."
Kaname smiled wide and said, "He's injured? That pleases me. You did well, my darling."
"How? What was the point of me even going? I found out nothing!" she shouted in frustration.
Pulling her close and kissing the top of her head, he whispered, "After screaming about vampires, supernatural beings that many don't believe even exist, it means that he will have to go for a psych evaluation now."
Still bristling, Yuki said, "If you want to mess with him, we're vampires. We don't need humans."
"True," Kaname agreed. "But consider this. What is a more amusing way to take down a man who hates vampires? Sure, we can be his enemy, but then he will still live out his life's purpose behind bars. I believe I found a way to break him with the very humans he holds so high above us. He will be labeled insane by the very group he seeks to 'protect' from us."
"But you said the charges wouldn't stick," she objected. "That was why you said you sent me in order to find out information on his organization."
"Money can keep you out of prison, but it doesn't keep you from a psychological diagnosis. I want him brought low before we finally destroy him," Kaname explained.
"Then why send me?!" she whined. "I thought you were finally including me."
"His crazy performance when he saw you, a petite and very sweet-looking woman, will be the impetus behind the request for the psych eval. You are very dangerous but look as soft as a newborn bunny. It will make him appear even more insane than his actions did."
"But I thought I could do more! You could have sent any vampire in there!"
Kaname gently shook his head, "My Yuki, I don't believe anyone could look so pure or as innocent as you."
"Then why lie to me?" she pressed.
He said, "Because I can lie, and you cannot. If I warned you, your reaction wouldn't have been as startled. You were perfect."
"You didn't even see me," she objected.
"Don't be silly. Of course, you were perfect," he gently scolded.
Tucking her head in embarrassment, she said, "I screamed in surprise. He startled me. I'm not used to being startled anymore with my heightened senses."
"See. I told you that you were perfect," he said in absolute conviction.
Beryl was fuming as the large Yacht she was on gently rocked in the harbor. She had been so close to finding Endymion, then it turned out he had just moved. On top of that, he had stopped working at the police station, and his former boss, Yamato, never went anywhere near him. Not that the man was easy to track. Several times, he had given one of her minions the slip, and she cursed the training he must have gotten from his fellow policemen.
Since her little 'tantrum' as she referred to it that resulted in her killing of Jiji, she was now surrounded by only humans. They were easy to manipulate and fun to play with, but they were turning out to be utterly useless for anything else.
Sighing, she closed her eyes and thought about the idea of working with something supernatural. She would have to make sure she killed them before they turned on her, but it began to feel to her like it was worth the risk.
The only question was who. Who should she contact to try and work with? Who would be the best to team up with to find her precious Endymion?
"No, she was useless," Artemis grumbled to Hatori. "She didn't know anything other than the fact that he had 'the largest penis she ever saw.'"
Hatori put his feet up on his desk and leaned way back in his chair. "I'll have Yamato check her story," he joked.
"I want to be there when you make that request," Artemis said, amused. "I bet he cracks when you ask him to measure the size of the guy's dick."
"He has to have something for women to go crazy over him," the police chief said. "He had two women here fighting over him. You saw the crazy string of text responses that the lewd photo invoked."
Artemis nodded in response to that statement. He then said, "It's getting late, and Luna said she has a surprise for me. She said it has to do with Usagi, which you and I both know means it can be damn near anything."
Hatori curled his mouth up in a small smile. "My Aunt can be unpredictable, that's for sure."
Both men completely agreed and knew nothing more needed to be said about that matter.
Minako stood in front of Kunzite and shifted her feet nervously. They were currently staying in a quaint little cottage on a lake in the woods away from major towns. She said, "I want to have the others over. I know Usagi said I don't have to redeem myself, just show some sense, but I want to do something! Can't we have them here and plan something to show her that I can accept help?"
Kunzite's honest response of, "I will support any idea of yours that isn't you going off half-cocked right now, even if it ends up pissing off Usagi. I cannot handle you risking yourself foolishly like that again."
She looked at him in confusion and asked, "Angering Usagi is worse for you than angering Mamoru?"
Chuckling, he responded, "What would make Mamoru react in anger more? Breaking his rules or pissing off Usagi. You know how he gets about her."
"Good point," she said, chucking for the first time since the incident.
"I'll call everyone," he said, getting back on track.
"You can't take the heat for me," Minako objected.
"They might not answer your call," he pointed out, giving her a severe look. "A bunch of them are pissed that you were so reckless."
Minako was glad she could no longer blush. The embarrassment she felt at that truth flooded her whole body.
