Here it is, the 158th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks released on schedule. The planning on how to use Aoyama's capture to their advantage is underway with the initial idea in place and now it's time to perfect it while the students and heroes prepare for what will likely be the final battle. However, before then, there is still one untapped resource available to at least the students of Class 1-A, the kwamis. Of course, it will be up to the kwamis if they will participate and that means it's time to figure out if they can help as there are some issues to figure out there and then see if the will hence why Mage has called Marinette, Adrien, and Momo to his office. Let's see how that goas as that is all the administrative stuff that I have for you, however, and there are no guest reviews that can be responded to or questions to answer so I will end this note here. Do keep the reviews coming as I enjoy hearing from y'all. That is all I have for this pre chapter note so that means that it is time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the 158th full chapter of Miraculous Quirks.
Disclaimer: I do not own either of these great works of fiction.
Chapter 158: Kwamis and a Request
"Honestly, we're not sure if the kwamis will help or not." Marinette said as she put her cup of tea down. "There's been a lot going on pretty much ever since we caught up with the timeline that we've not had the time to discuss a scenario like this and now that it's upon us, well, it's just one thing after another so we've not had a moment to consider it beyond leaving it up to the kwamis themselves."
"At first things weren't much of an issue." Adrien said. "We discussed the role that the kwamis would play in our new lives during our acclimatization and prep period before starting at U.A. and with out powers now Quirks we decided that they could be out of the Miraculous Box and do their own things if they wanted. This is mainly because with how society is nowadays, they can live freely and have fun without drawing excess attention or questions which they've done and I know that they've enjoyed that."
"Kaalki has confirmed that." Momo said with a nod. "She's enjoyed a lot more of society than she has in millennia apparently. According to her, they're usually left in the box with the exceptions of Tikki, Plagg, and whichever one the Great Guardian is using at a given time so she's really liked being able to learn about this new Age of Quirks and experience the world first hand."
"I am well aware of that, I've, er, had to clean up a few of Plagg's messes over the last year or so." Mage said and Adrien groaned at that. "Yeah, he has a habit of causing issues and he's not the only one. Kaalki has been a bit fast and loose with her power in the past as well though not as much as Plagg and not at all since she's decided to live in your room Momo."
"Really?" Momo asked. "She never mentioned that."
"Kaalki is rather prideful." Mage said and Momo couldn't deny that. "So she has a hard time admitting to her faults."
"I can see that." Momo said with a sigh. "She's rather headstrong but I don't mind it and now that she can live openly in the dorms it's not an issue at all."
"But overall you are right, they have been able to be free with society in a way they haven't before." Mage said. "Just look at Plagg's friendship with Odd-Eye, he'd never have that otherwise and he can even be honest about what he is."
"That's only because Odd-Eye is, well, extremely odd." Adrien said. "No one believes half the shit he spouts so he can get away with it."
"True but it's still good to see and shows one of the positive aspects of the Age of Quirks." Mage said. "But we've gotten a bit off topic I feel."
"Yes, sorry." Marinette said. "Anyway, after we started here and made friends and fully embraced our new lives, there really seemed to be no need for the kwamis to help us like they used, especially as we weren't active heroes like we were in Paris. So instead they were just hanging out with us and having a good time while also having their own lives now. Plus, without Lucky Charm saying that I needed an ally from amongst their ranks it looked like things wouldn't change. Even after Momo found out the truth, there wasn't a need. That was until a few months back when it happened on back to back days."
"I recall, first Momo and then Hagakure." Mage said with a nod. "That showed that there was still a need for them and if I'm being honest we should have seen that as a sign that things were really getting bad but alas we missed it. Since then Momo and Kaalki have continued to work together and ended up kinda forcing the issue a bit."
"I'm still sorry for that." Momo said.
"Don't be, we understood that there might be a situation that needed her power and that is why Kaalki was with you." Marinette said dismissively. "And there was. You saved countless lives because of it so don't be worried."
"Besides, around that time I ended up saving Midoriya and Marinette awakened her Quirk so we were going to tell him the truth after Jaku, well until he ran off that is and the truth got delayed." Adrien said as Marinette glared at him for what happened even if it had helped restore the cure as she'd rather he not almost die for it to have happened. "So it would have come out eventually. Between that and Midoriya's 'Dear John' letters we sped things up a bit but what's done is done, no point feeling bad now."
"Thanks." Momo said with a small smile and took a sip of tea to avoid saying more.
"But that is the change and we really should address it now, especially with our final plans now in motion." Marinette said. "The class knows about our past, that magic is real, and who the kwamis are so there is no point in hiding them or not asking for their help. Heroes in the past have partnered with kwamis, they help preserve and protect the world, so they can help now."
"That they can and their assistance would be a big boost." Mage agreed. "Usually it would be up to the Great Guardian of the Miraculous Box or the Ladybug Miraculous holder to decide when one of the Miraculouses was needed but there really isn't one at this point, at least not for this box, so the decision should be up to the kwamis. I had hoped that they'd discussed it with you but it seems not."
"Sorry." Marinette said. "We did speak with them a bit but they decided to confer amongst themselves and then get back to us. Other than Kaalki of course."
"They do hold their own council at times and frankly in this new age this is for the best." Mage said as Momo took another sip of tea. "There is, however, two issues to deal with regarding them that we should discuss before we see what the kwamis themselves have decided. The first is easy enough to sort out, the second is one that can't be overcome."
"If I'm right, the first issue is how to explain the sudden arrival of several new heroes." Momo said as she put down her cup. "While we were able to explain mine away without much of an issue and Toru's Quirk allowed for nothing more than just a claim that someone had come in for it, which we can potentially avoid in this battle, the others might be hard."
"It's hard but not impossible when you've got the Guardian of Technology on your side though between this and asking him for something to test that Aiba girl, on top of my other debts to him, I'm going to owe Technus a lot." Mage said with a slight groan of resignation. "But I don't mind on that front. With him we can fudge the records and just claim they were part of the handful that we brought in from neighboring countries that we have agencies in and who were on standby during the war with the Paranormal Liberation Front. That's how we can get around the first problem, it's the second problem that is the issue."
"And that is?" Adrien asked.
"The powers that are at play." Mage said. "Some of their powers just can't work, at least as far as I know. The Miraculouses could be used to boost strength, durability, dexterity, and speed but that's all that they'd be able to do for you in the coming war."
"Powers won't work?" Momo asked. "I don't get that. They're magic so surely they will work."
"Oh they will work just fine but they're won't work in the context of the battle." Mage said realizing that he needed to clarify things. "Not all Miraculous powers can use the nature of Quirks as a cover for what they do because they will only on magic and, well, some are a bit too much to use in a purely human conflict. That last bit is just my own concerns though and I'm not human so don't really take me at my word there."
"Time based powers." Marinette said understanding what Mage was going on about. "Sass and Fluff, right?"
"Correct, the Snake and Rabbit Miraculouses." Mage said. "Sass's power to rewind time within a 5 minute period from when it's set is probably not too much of an issue but it will be limited to a single battle and up to Sass to join if he wants. As for Fluff, well that's a bit different as her power always has been different. Using her would be a huge boost but there are potential ramifications that we can't see if we mess with time. On top of that, only the Rabbit Miraculous user would know the full truth of what was changed and that might require a strong mental willpower to handle."
"I'll admit, Burrow is a powerful weapon to have on our side." Marinette agreed. "But how to use it and who should have it is tough to decide. Of course this is up to Fluff."
"Fluff's power is one that we have to be careful with but when it comes to hindsight and overall second chances it can't be beat." Mage said. "Of course this is still a purely human and non-magical affair so that could play a role in their decisions though it hasn't stopped them in the past so I doubt it. However, they're powers aren't technically unavailable but others almost certainly are. The main ones that are, are Xuppu and Stompp's powers so the Monkey and Ox Miraculouses."
"What do they do again?" Momo asked. "I'm not exactly well versed with the various powers beyond the ones that I've seen."
"The former allows the user to disrupt any power but their own while the latter can make the user immune to attacks and powers." Mage said. "The issue with them is that they'll work on magic alone, well the Monkey Miraculous will though I guess it could be tested to see if it would disrupt Quirks as well though even then there's the question of how it would work on someone with multiple Quirks. As for the Ox Miraculous, in theory it might work on normal attacks so again testing it would be worth a shot. The others can mimic Quirks well enough, though some will be seen as a bit esoteric, to work. That said, there is a different issue with the Dragon Miraculous."
"The tri-part nature of it." Marinette said understanding. "It effectively grants three powers in one and while we've got people like Todoroki who have two distinct powers to his Quirk, that is a bit much and hard to explain why it's on our side when there's only one hero with multiple Quirks and it's Midoriya."
"Precisely, it is an issue but it's not an impossible one to overcome if worked with a few things and Longg would know how to do that." Mage said. "Course all this is on the kwamis so I say that it's time that we brought them here and find out their opinions on the matter."
"They should still be discussing it amongst themselves." Marinette said. "So perhaps…"
"Perfect timing then." Mage said with a grin and he snapped his fingers and there was a sudden mass popping sound and 19 kwamis suddenly appeared floating in a ring just above their heads having all clearly been discussing this very topic amongst themselves at that very moment. "It's not an issue for me to get them all here and I see that they were in council as well so that will speed things up. Well my friends? Marinette has said that you were discussing if you should aid the heroes of Japan in this coming war or not so have you come to a decision? Will you lend them your strength and wisdom in their time of need? Well lend Marinette and Adrien's classmates that is."
"We've been discussing just that for quite a while now." Sass said turning to Mage as the kwamis all floated down to be at head height and moves to that half were in an arc from Adrien to Mage and the other half in an arc from Momo to Mage. "We know that Kaalki is willing to aid and she's been the biggest voice in favor of all of us joining you in this battle against evil."
"I've already said I would and I honor my word." Kaalki said. "I will aid Momo during this conflict, well aid her again as I've already helped her out in this war."
"If we're needed Plagg and I will also help Marinette and Adrien." Tikki said with a nod. "I know that they have our powers as Quirks now but they might still need the magic if magic gets used so we'll be near them regardless."
"Yeah I've got no issues beating down some guy who missuses the power of destruction." Plagg said with a nod. "And who knows, perhaps I could actively help there."
"If some of you do get involved then there might be a need for the Miraculous Cure though try to avoid actively helping Plagg, you're fine control is still bad at best." Mage said though Plagg just ignored him on that front. "However, I was expecting Plagg and Tikki to join Kaalki, but what about the rest of you?"
"I'm in." Mullo said almost right away. "Toru's nice and I liked working with her, I'd like to do that again."
"That's not surprising." Mage said. "Anyone else already decided or not?"
"The rest of us have not committed yet but we've come to really like it here in this new age of humanity." Trixx said. "And Japan is a nice country to live in so we are tempted to help protect it from utter ruin."
"They accept us as if we're just normal people and not magical beings." Longg added. "Well, in the cities they do, the countryside can be hit or miss but we've played that off by playing into local superstitions or lore for the most part and regardless it's not like they're issues for us as you can't capture a kwami."
"And even if they don't see us as humans with extreme mutant Quirks, they accept us in other ways that we play into." Wayzz said. "In those instances they either as creations of someone's Quirk, which if that happens we play it off as a hero who's elsewhere and using us to scout and protect more at once, or something mechanical and ultra high tech. It's nice being able to be part of wider society."
"Yes and as you know we don't like seeing destruction and evil like this." Sass said. "We are supposed to fight that regardless of the source of that evil."
"At least it's not my fault this time." Nooroo said sadly. "I'm really sorry for what I've done in the past."
"Or mine." Fluff added just as sad.
"We never blamed either of you for the actions of an evil human who forced you to do what you did." Adrien said smiling at them. "You are not at fault for what Hawkmoth made you do."
"And if you still feel that way then now you can remind yourselves and everyone else that kwamis are meant to be partnered with heroes who work for the good of humanity." Marinette said. "With your aid we can add more strength to the coming war and end the threat that these villains pose at last."
"Then we can rebuild Japan back to what it once was only better seeing as the big threat won't be around to do harm anymore." Adrien said. "So it should be even more peaceful once All for One and Shigaraki have been defeated."
"Those are very compelling arguments." Stompp said. "But what about those of us who's powers only work on magic? I'll admit, I don't know if my power would work on a Quirk attack but it might. However, Xuppu can only affect magic."
"Yeah, it's a shame but I've got no way to help." Xuppu said. "I'm useless in this situation."
"Not true." Marinette said shaking her head as she looked at Xuppu. "Even without your power, the boosts that you can give our classmates are immensely useful. So much could be changed and saved if we're even a shade faster or stronger or tougher and the boosts you'd give our classmates would be much more than a shade."
"I can attest to that." Momo said. "With Kaalki, I'm as strong as Sato powered up or Adrien and Marinette where when they started and I bet that even Sato be boosted past his Quirk enhanced strength with you, or at least using his Quirk in conjunction with you would make him stronger if you take him to a normal enhancement when he uses you. Even that is really useful for Sato as he loses cognitive abilities the more sugar he consumes so you'd partially remove a side effect of his power by boosting him to his normal Quirk enhanced strength before he boosts it even more with his Quirk though when he does the side effects will kick in."
"It would be similar with Kirishima's limit to remain hard and potentially with Ida's speed limits as well." Adrien said glad that Mineta wasn't present to make some crude joke. "There are limits that we humans have that you can help surpass. Even if we can't use Xuppu and Stompp's powers, you can still help us by simply uniting with our classmates."
"We can?" Xuppu asked.
"Yes and for all you know your power can work on a Quirk." Marinette said. "We've not tried it yet and if you all decide to aid us I'll pair you with the best matches in the class, I'll even ask Lucky Charm to decide and I'm talking about my Quirk there not Tikki's power, so there can be some practice to see if you can affect Quirks or not."
"I see that you've addressed one of our concerns already and assuaged our worries on this front." Sass said as Xuppa and Stompp looked happier at the news. "And the whole identity thing isn't an issue, Kaalki and Mullo have already explained how that worked and we trust Mage to sort it out."
"Which leaves one final issue that we've identified." Wayzz said. "The transformation situation."
"Transformation situation?" Marinette asked confused. "That's an issue?"
"Yes, Momo was lucky that only your classmates were present when she and Kaalki fought together the other month." Wayzz said though he didn't add that one hero did see Momo's third transformation but he'd died shortly afterwards so it wasn't a concern and as it was Majestic, who had been a mentor to Momo, Wayzz felt that it was best not to mention it. "But this is going to be a full scale war and frankly we don't want villains knowing about us as they could use us like Hawkmoth did. Heroes are one thing; we don't mind explaining after the fact or coming up with some non-magical explanation for what's going on if that's possible."
"I can also just mess with their memories so that they forget what they saw." Mage said getting a lot of looks at that. "What? I can. I'll probably be punished for it as it's going to be a large scale interference with humans but I can if need be. Certainly the magic on the Miraculouses will prevent those not in the know or who'd not seen the transformation from realizing who is using what but I can help with the latter if need be. It's kinda why I never thought of this as an issue."
"Well it is because now that Wayzz has pointed it out I've realized that it was stupid to overlook it." Marinette said deciding that Mage's idea would be, at best, a last resort. "But Wayzz is right, there is an issue with deciding where, when, and how to change. On top of that, how do we explain where our friends went? Momo did get away with a lot because of who was around but that won't work in multiple large scale engagements like what this final battle will be."
"Plus it might be wrong to mess with memories." Adrien said voicing the reason that Marinette had for keeping Mage's idea as a last resort. "Heroes knowing isn't the end of the world, I'm sure you can soul bind the knowledge like you did with us."
"You saw Aoyama's coughing fit earlier." Mage said and the humans nodded at that. "That's what happens with a soul bind, and it was a lot worse than what you saw I just slowed time down for Aoyama and myself for a moment, so yeah I can do that if need be."
"Right then that just leaves the transformation situation." Adrien said. "You can help somewhat there, right Mage? Not the memory thing mind you, your magic in general can help."
"Only if someone is based in a support role." Mage said. "I could theoretically do that as it wouldn't be direct interference with the battle but the only one of you who's be in that situation and in need of help is Momo."
"Right, Mr. Aizawa mentioned something like that." Momo said recalling that her teacher had mentioned that she'd be creating what they needed to maintain whatever they were using to keep Shigaraki contained. "Well that's fine, Kaalki and I are already working together so we'll take the help."
"I can't help the others; they'd just have to find a place to change and then say that they've run off helping elsewhere in the conflict zone or were injured and had to fall back to treat the injury but can still lend support." Mage said. "Then again, I'm sure that that would work as they do have some good teachers on that front who know how to run off and change in a convincing way."
"We are used to that." Adrien admitted.
"Yeah, can't argue there." Marinette said. "We can instruct them on how to pull it off without too much suspicion."
"Plus this will be a battlefield, there will be plenty of spots to do use as cover, well depending on the location that you've been sent to." Momo said. "We can even help each other there in places. It can work."
"Does that assuage your doubts on the transformation front?" Mage asked Wayzz. "Certainly we can't promise everything and there will be those who won't have the opening to change while some like Midoriya, Bakugo, Todoroki, and Uraraka won't be able to be paired with you as they've got direct fights that will be their sole focus, but many of you can help especially in the containment battles where no high ranking League members are present."
"It's not perfect but I've seen how Marinette and Adrien managed it so I know that it can work." Wayzz said. "We'd like to discuss more with her and Adrien later on how to instruct the others but I for one am willing to lend my aid to this battle. My power is about protection after all, how can I not volunteer to help protect people."
"As am I." Trixx said with a nod. "Marinette has enlisted my help before, I trust her and will lend it again."
"Same." Pollen said with a nod. "I don't mind serving a new Queen."
"I have a lot to make up for." Nooroo said. "If I can repay even part of that debt to Marinette and Adrien by aiding their friends in this battle then I'd like to."
"Same." Duusu said. "And my Miraculous has been fixed now so there are no issues there on my front."
"I'm with Nooroo." Fluff said. "I have a debt to repay and I'll do what I can even if it's in hindsight to give the heroes another chance to win."
"My power will be critical in one of these battles." Sass said drawing out the s at the end with a hiss. "Whoever Marinette decides to pair me with, I'll explain and work with to make sure that we can take down a villain."
"My biggest worry was being useless." Xuppu said. "I'm not worried now so I will lend my aid as well."
"Likewise." Stompp said. "You can rely on me to assist and hopefully my power does work on Quirk based attacks."
"My power is complicated to use in this Age of Quirks." Longg admitted. "But if you can work around that and figure out how to use it then I will help. I like Japan, my last partner was Japanese after all, and want to see it restored to what it was before evil ran rampant here."
"Count me in." Barkk said. "I'll help where and how I can."
"I'll help punch some villains to justice." Roarr said. "Clout will be useful in this battle."
"I'll do what I can to help." Ziggy added. "Just remember that I need to be paired with someone who can draw pretty well to maximize my power."
"I'm sure that my power will work in this day and age." Daizzi said. "And it will benefit the heroes."
"As do I." Orikko said becoming the final kwami to confirm that he'd help. "We're all in with you young heroes."
"Then it's settled, this will be a major benefit in the final battle." Mage said nodding his approval at the decisions of the kwamis. "Marinette, I will leave the distribution to you as you understand your classmates best and Lucky Charm will come in handy there."
"I'll get on it as soon as I get back." Marinette said. "And as this is using Lucky Charm in rapid, cycling, succession, it will be also be training as well. Kwamis, other than Mullo and Kaalki, please gather in my room in the dorm, I'll head there right away."
"Mage can do one better." Tikki said. "We were already there discussing so send us back there to await Marinette."
"No need to send me, I'll stick with Momo." Kaalki said. "I just need to hide in one of her compartments on the way back."
"And Marinette's right, now that I'm allowed to help just send me straight to Toru's room." Mullo said. "I trust Marinette to deliver my Miraculous to her when she gets back."
"I'll send Tikki with it as soon as I return." Marinette said and Tikki nodded in agreement at that.
"Alright then that's sorted." Mage said and he snapped his fingers and the kwamis suddenly vanished leaving just Marinette, Adrien, Momo, and Kaalki with him. "Looks like you'll get the aid you that you desired from them."
"It may not be enough but any help in this battle is appreciated." Marinette said. "I will thank them all personally when I get back."
"Best to do that right away." Mage said. "I've got some calls to make and you have final preparations to sort out. Adrien, I believe your pump is ready, so go and collect it from the Development Studio and I'll let Recovery Girl know that you're ready for it."
"Will do." Adrien said as he finished his drink. "Might as well go now, I know how busy the Development Studio is so the sooner I can get there, retrieve the pump, and then get out of the hair the better."
"Likewise with the kwamis as everyone will need to train with them." Marinette said with a nod. "Let's go."
Adrien nodded and the pair got up and headed out. They were so focused on their tasks that they didn't notice that Momo had remained seated though as she'd picked up her tea and finished off the fine Gold Tips Imperial that Mage had provide for her they'd have just assumed that she was holding back to enjoy and not waste her tea before heading back to the dorm to resume her training. However, Momo wasn't going to do that and as she finished her drink and Adrien closed the door behind him, she put it down and looked at Mage.
"So, there's something on your mind that you wish to discuss with ne in private, Momo." Mage said looking at her as he took another sip of his own tea. "What is it?"
"Something that I've been grappling with ever since we learned about Midoriya's secret." Momo said as she stood up and looked at her teacher. "And with the final war coming up we need all the resources that we can get our hands on so I've decided to ask you this now. Mage, please, do for me what you did for Marinette, Adrien, and Miss Wu and make the power you've allowed me to use part of me. Please, encode Voyage within my DNA."
At that Momo bowed deeply and Kaalki looked over at her friend and human in surprise. She'd not expected Momo to ask for such a boon and she wasn't actually sure that Momo knew the cost that would come with such a request but she'd done so without hesitation. It showed how important the coming war was and if Momo did have Voyage on her own, someone else could be paired with Kaalki giving them a second, as far as Kaalki knew as she wasn't aware of the full plan yet, warp power to work with and that could be critical in the coming battles.
"I see, I figured that you might ask this of me someday." Mage said with a sigh as Momo remained bowed. "But alas, I can't help."
"Come again." Momo said raising her head to look at Mage though she remained in her bow. "But you did it for them, so I know that you can do it. I've been training extra hard to help out there, using Kaalki's power as many times a day as possible since Midoriya left both to train using it and to make sure I've used it enough. If I recall, your magic remains in someone's body after they use a Miraculous or the Prodigious and that's what you need to make someone's power a Quirk."
"Please, sit down." Mage said and Momo reluctantly did just that. "Thank you. You are correct that that is the case and there is enough now in your body that I can just about feel within you but it's only a slight trace and not enough to work with to encode your DNA with Voyage."
"But you…" Momo began.
"Yes, I did it for those three but they had much more of my magic in their bodies for me to work with so I knew for certain that I could pull it off." Mage said. "Adrien and Marinette had used their Miraculouses daily, sometimes multiple times a day, for over two years and then spent 230 years in stasis with their Miraculouses active so I had more than enough to work with when it came to making their Miraculous powers into Quirks. As for Fei, she'd been using the Prodigious for half a century when I made her my offer so again she had more than enough in her body at the time. You've been training hard but one month of intense use isn't enough. You need a year of that, minimum."
"Plus if you were to do this Momo, you know what that would mean right?" Kaalki asked looking at Momo. "Adrien and Marinette are one thing, Mage really messed up there and owed them more than he can repay so he made the change without an offer, that and they kinda needed it to blend into this Age of Quirks, but you don't have that going for you. To request such a boon from a Guardian, there is only one price that can merit it."
"I figured that that would be the case and I'm willing to pay it." Momo said to both Mage and Kaalki's shock but Momo had thought long and hard on this and about what her friends would do and it had been Midoriya who'd come to mind in the end, his determination and his willingness to selflessly sacrifice himself to save people, and that inspired Momo to make this one as well. "I'll swear my allegiance to you Mage and join the Sub-Guardians if you can grant me Voyage."
"While that is the cost and I would accept it if I could, you'd be a valuable addition to our order Momo, you are aware of what that would mean, right?" Mage said his tone serious. "I can assist in making it seem like you'd age naturally and be in great health as well as faking your death when the time comes but you'd be pseudo immortal, unable to die except in battle so you will almost certainly outlive all your friends and family, and any children that you might have though I'd advice against that part. It's not a fate that most would choose. Fei had no family, to her it was a no brainer to accept my offer, and the four you met at the bakery are all similar, but it's a hard one in the end."
"Even so, I'd accept that fate for myself to help my friends, family, and country in the end." Momo said clenching her fist and shaking a bit as she looked Mage in the eye. "And don't think that I don't know what that's like, I know Marinette and Adrien better than anyone other than maybe you, Tikki, and Plagg, I've seen the pain that they've been through and still carry even after finding a new home and friends because they've lost everything."
"True but…" Mage began but Momo cut him off as she was mid flow and didn't want to be interrupted.
"If they can overcome that then I can live with outliving them and simply remembering them in the centuries to come or for however long I live while serving the Guardians." Momo continued. "Marinette's the person I look up to the most, she's stronger than anyone I know and this is but a fraction of the strength she has. How can I call myself a hero if I'm not willing to make a sacrifice like this for the sake of restoring peace and justice to Japan? No, the world because if Japan falls All for One will turn his attention to the rest of the world."
"I admire your resolve and praise your dedication, that is just what we look for in our recruits." Mage said with a smile showing that he understood that Momo understood the consequences of such a decision. "And for what it's worth, I do regret being unable to do this but there really isn't enough magic in you to change right now. However, I'd be honored to accept you in a few decades time if you're still willing to make this pledge to me and so long as you've kept using Kaalki then I'll grant you this boon upon accepting your oath to the Guardians. You'll effectively have two Quirks with it."
Momo looked Mage in the eye as he spoke and saw that he was truly regretful he was that he couldn't help her. She'd known that it was a bit of a long shot as she was aware of how long Adrien and Marinette had used their Miraculouses for but she had to ask regardless.
"Very well, I accept and I'd like to keep partnering with Kaalki even after this is over so please do ask me again when I retire from hero work just as you did Fei." Momo said with a bow of her head. "I may have changed my mind by then but I'll give you an answer as well."
"I will and for what it's worth, it is probably better this way." Mage said and Momo knew that that was true as it gave her more time to make her ultimate decision. "And while I can't do this, I can help in other ways."
"You said that you'd help cover me due to me being in a supporting role in the coming battle." Momo said. "Based on what Mr. Aizawa said, I presume that I'm mainly going to be used for making parts to maintain whatever it is that we're using to contain Shigaraki beyond Monoma using his Quirk to copy Erasure."
"You are the smartest in your class for a reason." Mage said. "Yes, you will be positioned there, I'm sure of it and it is because of where you will be that I can help. I'll use my magic to create an illusion of Cavaliere and station her there as her power can be used from range and by having her near you will ensure that what you make can be sent directly where it is need. That way I can switch you and her around whenever it's needed so as to make sure that no one realizes when you transform and de-transform to give Kaalki food."
"That will be a lot, I'm sorry Kaalki." Momo said looking at the kwami. "I want to help as much as possible."
"I'm more than fine with that, you've got a noble heart Momo and I'm happy to help you." Kaalki said with a nod at her human. "Just make sure that it's the best carrots and apples."
"I'll have them imported just for it, might be a bit illegal but it will be worth it." Mage said with a grin. "And there is one more thing I'll do for you."
"And that is?" Momo asked.
"This." Mage said and there was another popping sound and suddenly a piece of design paper with a complicated diagram appeared in his hand and he handed it over to Momo. "Consider this part of your training. The whole molecular structure of every component and how they interact to create this item is on this paper. Make it when you get back to your room and then come see me and Recovery Girl tomorrow and we'll get it hooked up. As you do, I'll put in a request with the Development Studio for a special lipid based paste that they should be able to make, especially when I make it clear that it will allow them access to as many materials as they need in the long run."
Momo blinked as she took the piece of paper from Mage and studied for several seconds. She wasn't a Support Course student but with her Quirk, and for that matter her memory, she did understand something like this as she needed to understand complicated machinery on a molecular level to use Creation to make it so she'd studied plenty of diagrams like this in her life. This wasn't as complicated as some of the things that she'd seen so she picked it up quickly and soon deduced what it was while Kaalki looked over her shoulder not understanding it at all.
"I see, yes, this would be ideal and if I eat at the same time I can increase my consumption of lipids even more and thus ensure that I can keep Creation going as long as possible." Momo said as she carefully folded up the paper and put it in one of her belt compartments to sort out later. "Thank you Mage, I'll make it as soon as I get back to my room and I have no issue having this fitted, I'll even make the tube myself to speed things up."
"What is it?" Kaalki asked.
"A special stomach pump that will deliver nutrients directly into my stomach." Momo said. "Marinette had one fitted yesterday and based on what Mage said a moment ago Adrien's getting his sorted out later so that they can keep their energy levels up during this final battle. I'll need a specialized paste for my own Quirk as I need foods high in lipids rather than what gives the most energy but as Mage pointed out that can be made. It's going to be a big boost in the final battle."
"I see." Kaalki said not really seeing it but trusting Momo's assessment of the item and what it would do. "Very well then we should get to making it."
"You're right we should." Momo said as she rose and Kaalki moved to hide in a compartment for the walk back to the dorm while Momo bowed to Mage again. "Thank you for hearing me out Mage. It's not what I wanted but I accept it and will make use of this devise in the final battle."
"I know you and everyone else in your class will." Mage said as Momo rose from her bow. "After all, you're all heroes."
Momo smiled at that and nodded before she turned and left. Like the others she had work to do and she had to focus on that and not on the slight relief she felt at her request being rejected. She'd have made that sacrifice in a heartbeat and if she got the offer in the future she'd heavily consider it but for now it was off the table and Momo would focus on what she had to do for the coming battle. There was still a lot that they all needed to do and so Momo hurried back to do her own part as the wheels began to move on the heroes' battle plan.
Mage just watched Momo leave before he pulled out his phone to make a call to Technus. He had his own role to play in the events to come, small as it was, and he'd do it to the fullest but from this point on everything was on the heroes, students, and now kwamis. They were all in good hands and as Technus picked up and Mage began explaining what he needed he had confidence in the plans they were making. Now it was time for the final preparations as the day of reckoning drew ever closer.
I think I'll leave this chapter off here, a good place to end it. Initially I had considered this to be two chapters but I realized that neither conversation was long enough to merit that so I kept it to one chapter and as it was all within the same vein it works I feel. Anyway, now the kwamis are involved and willing to aid so all that is left is to see who is pair with which kwami and keep up with the final preparations for the coming battle. All of that is to look forward to but as that is all that I have for this chapter I will leave this off here. As always, if you like it or have any questions please let me know in reviews or PMs, I will try to answer them as best I could and post any questions asked between uploads at the start of the next chapter and do follow and favorite this, so you are alerted to future uploads. Do keep the reviews coming as I like hearing from y'all as you enjoy my work, it motivates me to keep producing the best work I can for y'all to enjoy. Until next time.
