Chapter 3
Call to Action
No matter how Izuku tried to make sense of it, the only fact that has him and Bakugo baffled is that the boy he just saved is flying.
Flying.
Not floating.
Flying.
'I was not prepared for today,' Izuku thought.
"Oi, nerd..." He heard Bakugou muttered in a gruff voice.
"Kacchan?"
"What the hell are you standing around here?"
Bakugou grabbed Izuku by the collar and tossed him before firing off a powerful blast.
"GET FUCKING GOING, YOU SHITTY NERD!" Bakugo said. "DIIIIEEEEE!"
Izuku activated Float in that split second and started going after them, propelling himself. He began to follow those three.
'First, that guy's a Keyblader, the girl is a magical girl, and then there's that other guy with a katana in hand...' Izuku thought. 'I don't get what's going on right now, but as a hero, it's my job to protect and save lives!'
Izuku followed after those three and kept pace with them. He saw a tornado form from the ground.
'That monster's spinning up again!' Izuku thought. 'Those three don't have any experience in fighting monsters or Grimm, let alone villains. If I can just catch up to them...'
He could hear some explosions coming from behind him. Bakugou must be behind him.
-1-
Togata had caught up with Todoroki. The two were evacuating civilians from the area. The smokescreen Izuku had created in a hurry was torn down by that tornado. It must have dispersed the smokescreen when it came down. Todoroki looked at the Keybladers already fighting each other. The villain, described by Izuku as 'a man with tendrils on his head and back,' was holding out against two wielders that Izuku reported being possible Keyblade Masters.
Then there was that tornado.
That tornado definitely wasn't a natural phenomenon. Whatever was howling in there most definitely generated that tornado.
"We got to wait until some Pro-Heroes get here," Togata said, "Deku and Dynamight should be able to slow our big bad wolf monster long enough for reinforcements to arrive."
"And what about him?" Todoroki asked, pointing to the Keybladers fighting each other.
Togata shook his head.
"We can't do anything about them," Togata said. "Right now, the civilians take priority. Focus on saving and protecting them.
-2-
Minutes earlier...
Ruby was in as much shock as her teammates were. First, there was a sudden tornado, then there was the sound of what could have been a really big Beowolf, and now said Beowolf, if they could even call it a Beowolf, slammed down right into a sushi restaurant. Ruby merely gawked at the sight of the large beast with her jaw hanging. Weiss looked visibly confused (and mildly) frustrated at the situation. Yang was speechless and was still trying to process all of this. Blake on the other hand had fell to her knees. She looked devastated at the sight, her irises and pupils shrinking out from shock and all color from her face was drained.
"That's one big bad wolf..." Ruby said. "And I mean really big..."
"I knew we should have stayed in Beacon..." Weiss said.
"I... I... I got nothing," Yang said before looking to Blake. "Blakey?"
"My... My sushi..." Blake said, her voice shaking with her words.
"Oh no..." Yang said. "Look, we can find another sushi restaurant and—"
An audible growl gets the attention of the girls. They saw it getting back on its feet. The wolf opened its eyes. The people around team RWBY shrieked and screamed as they all tried to get away from here. Ruby pulled out her Crescent Rose, a sniper rifle that changed into a scythe just as she pulled it out. Weiss had her Myrtenaster, a rapier with a revolver chamber loaded with dust. Yang's Ember Celica gauntlets expand to reveal double-barrel shotguns. She went into her jacket and pulled out a pair of belts that held shotgun shells. She fed the belts into the guns and she got them locked and loaded.
Blake... continued to brood over the sushi restaurant like an angsty teenager. The team looked at her. Blake pulls her Gambol Shroud in its default cleaver form after wiping her tears.
Yang pats Blake on the back.
"Hey, you'll get your fish," Yang said. "At least my bike didn't get destroyed or anything. I was just thinking about going on a little tour through here with Bumblebee."
The wolf howled loudly.
"Alright, let's do this!" Ruby said.
Ruby pointed the scythe away from the wolf and pulled the trigger. The sniper rifle fires off, thrusting Ruby. When she designed the Crescent Rose at Signal Academy, she designed it to be a cross between a high-caliber sniper rifle and a scythe. She knew that a .50 cal sniper rifle and Dust filled ammunition put together would make the recoil so massive that the human body would be propelled if it were not anchored into the ground via the scythe's blade. However, with that and all her knowledge on scythe battle techniques drilled into her head by her uncle in mind, she could use that to her advantage. Instead of compensating for the recoil, she harnessed the recoil for mobility, propelling herself a short distance with a single shot. By incorporating this into her semblance that allows her to move at incredibly high speeds along with her scythe combat training, she could attack and evade at the same time and increase the speed and force of her swings using said recoil.
The recoil gave her a head start. Yang jumped into the air and fired her guns off. The recoil of the guns propelled her toward the foe, but not at the same speed Ruby was going in. The other girls followed her in. Yang fired off her gauntlet shotguns behind her to propel her body forward. Weiss summoned a glyph to propel her. Blake changed her weapon into a chain scythe and threw the scythe onto a wall and swung into the air.
Ruby got to the monster first and swings the scythe before firing another shot, adding more swing to it. The scythe cuts the monster in half.
But just as the cut was made, it was quickly sealed up.
The wolf smiled before its body jumped into the air and the tornado vanished. The monster then came crashing down.
Ruby fires off a shot to back off. The monster hits the ground and generates a powerful shockwave that knocks the girls back. The girls landed on the ground as things began to fly up from the shockwave. The ground shook from the impact. Weiss made a glyph that turned black. The girls felt their bodies being subjected to gravity that was holding them in place. When the shaking stopped, the group got back on their feet.
"This just became even more complicated than what we were expecting," Weiss said.
"Ok, I know the big bad wolf is supposed to be big and bad, but—"
"Guys, I cut him in half," Ruby said. "I cut him in half and it just... put itself back together."
"So we'll just punch it in the face, cut its legs off," Yang said. "Pretty sure that'll do it. What could possibly go wrong?"
"Uh oh..." Blake said.
"Blakey, what is it now?" Yang asked.
"Look," She replied, pointing to the left.
Several beings emerged from the ground. They had black bodies shaped like small humanoid ants with glowing yellow eyes.
They were Heartless here now.
"Fuck..." Yang cursed.
-4-
Present
Kizuna had brought the two down to the other end of the street. Yoh and Madoka got onto the ground and saw four girls with weapons drawn.
"Huntresses?" Kizuna asked.
"Most likely," Yoh said. "First we have Keybladers, Heroes, Magical Girls, Huntresses, and..."
"Heartless," Madoka finished, pointing over to an alley in which she saw pitch-black monsters rising from the ground.
Kizuna saw them and immediately recognized them.
These were Shadows, a basic Heartless that were born of pure darkness. One by itself isn't that much of a threat, but they become dangerous in groups that can swarm an area.
"Stay together," Yoh said. "We don't want to get swarmed by these things."
"So those are Heartless..." Madoka said.
She looked hesitant. Yoh looked at her and smiled.
"Hey, it's all gonna work out," Yoh said. "We'll make it through this without so much as a scratch."
Kizuna turned to Madoka and smiled to reassure her.
The three turned to the Shadows that appeared before them.
"Follow my lead," Yoh said.
"Right!" Kizuna and Madoka responded.
Yoh charged in, Kizuna followed after him with Madoka right behind her. Yoh readies the sword, stretching his arm over to his left.
'Amida Style...'
AMIDA
STYLE
He made a quick slash, and as he did, it looked as though the sword had extended its own length.
'... Vacuum Buddha Slash.'
VACUUM
BUDDHA
SLASH
AMIDA STYLE: VACUUM BUDDHA SLASH
The sword cut through the Shadows in that instant. Kizuna and Madoka couldn't believe it at first, but they focused on the task ahead for now. Madoka generated a glyph over the huntresses and primed her bow.
'Hino-senpai... I hope you're watching me,' Madoka said to herself. 'Because I'm going to put all that bow training you and Kagome-senpai gave me on using a bow!'
"Rain of Hope!" Madoka said as she fired an arrow of light.
RAIN
The arrow hits the glyph...
OF
... and arrows came raining down on the Heartless, eliminating them.
HOPE
RAIN OF HOPE
Madoka breathed a sigh of relief. 'I hope those huntresses are ok...' she thought.
'Here goes...' Kizuna thought. 'It's time to put all my ideas to practical use... childhood memories, don't fail me now.'
Kizuna reversed his grip on the keyblade and slid his body forth before winding back for a swing. He shouts as he swings his arm as though he were throwing a mean right hook.
He looked back and saw the Shadows were gone. He saw pink hearts going up to the sky. He looked at his keyblade in awe.
"Incredible..." Kizuna said to himself, "So this is the keyblade's power..."
He changes his grip, holding the keyblade normally with the edge pointing forward. Yoh and Madoka caught up with him. Kizuna turned to face both Yoh and Madoka, both of them looking at him with a smile.
"That was amazing, Kizuna!" Madoka said.
"Yeah, that was pretty cool what you did there," Yoh said.
"T-Thanks..." Kizuna blushed as he scratched the back of his head.
He shook his head and turned around to see huntresses getting back on their feet. One of the girls turned to face the trio. She had silver eyes and black hair with red highlights at the bottom. She was wearing a black dress with a red cape.
"Thanks," The girl spoke. "For a second there, I thought... wait... have we met?"
Kizuna and Madoka looked at each other. They couldn't believe it, but the girl they were talking to was the same one they ran into just moments before all of this happened. They looked back at her and took a deep breath.
"M-My name is Kizuna, and uh..." Kizuna paused.
"Name's Ruby Rose," The girl replied quickly.
She then pointed to the golden-haired girl, the black-haired girl, and the girl with the white hair in that order. They all turn to face him.
"This is my sister Yang, that's my friend Blake, and that's Weiss," Ruby said.
"Sup," Yang said.
Blake merely waved her hand.
"Wait, you're the Weiss Schnee? The girl who's supposed to inherit the Schnee Dust Company? The number one company that sells dust across the world?" Yoh asked.
"Yes, I am," Weiss said.
"Wow..." Madoka said. "She must be a celebrity back from where she came from."
"She and I are BFFs!" Ruby said.
"No we're not," Weiss retorted.
Blake's bow suddenly... moved... just before she turned around.
"Uh... guys?" Blake said.
"What is it now, Blake?" Yang asked.
"Look."
The group looked up at the giant wolf monster that was in front of them. The monster howled.
"Ok, any ideas on how we can bring it down?" Kizuna asked.
The monster began to spin into a tornado, generating powerful winds.
"How about we get it to stop spinning first?" Madoka asked.
"Good idea, but uh how are we going to do that exactly?" Yoh asked.
Kizuna saw the tornado go up. His body suddenly turned jumped, and he found himself going up extremely high into the air. He cried out in shock as he jumped high into the air. He went inside the tornado and saw the wolf in front of him. He kicked his feet in a bit of a panic and he went straight towards the wolf. He thrusts the keyblade just as his body was surrounded by a light blue aura.
He found himself spinning along with the monster. He held on tightly with two hands and dislodged the key from the monster's body. Kizuna felt his own body spinning on its own. He tried swinging at the monster and the attack lands. The hit knocks the creature out of its own tornado and caused it to spin faster but with now less force and more momentum.
The monster crashed into a building. Kizuna started to fall. He was suddenly pulled away. He closed his eyes, expecting that his head might shatter on impact with the ground...
... only to then be surprised by feeling a person's hands and arms around him.
He opened his eyes and he found himself on solid ground. He got his feet to touch the ground, his legs wobbling from the sensation. He turned around and saw the familiar green hooded hero standing before him.
-6-
Izuku felt relieved to see that the boy was ok, but that relief lasted for only a brief moment as he saw a keyblade in the boy's hands. Izuku felt surprised and confused at the fact. He put the thought aside.
"Are you alright?" Izuku asked.
"Y-Yeah, I've been through worse..." The boy said.
"Good..." Izuku sighed in relief before smiling. "You did well out there for your first time using a keyblade. Just be careful next time. I might not be around if you start falling out of the sky again."
Just then, Bakugou landed next to him. The katana-wielding boy and the magical girl along with, whom he presumed to be four girls holding custom-made weapons.
"Tch! I knew I should have just gone ahead of you," Bakugou said. "I'd have blown that thing into smithereens if I'd got there first."
"Easy Ka—Dynamight," Izuku corrected himself. He sure as hell wasn't going to say Kacchan out in public while they were in their hero costumes. If he did that, Bakugou wouldn't let him hear the end of it.
"Is anyone not dead by the way?" Bakugou asked.
"Well, if I were dead, that would be dreadful, wouldn't it?" A blonde among the group said.
Bakugou immediately frowned upon hearing that and looked at the blonde.
"Oi, Goldilocks," Bakugou said. "In case you haven't noticed, now isn't the time for shitty ass puns."
"Hey, I'm just trying to lighten the mood," She said.
Just then, Izuku sensed immediate danger coming from behind and turned around in response.
As he did, a dark portal opened.
Then he saw a familiar figure stepping out.
It was the villain from before, the one with the black keyblade.
Bakugo stood next to Izuku with tiny sparks going off.
"Be careful Dynamight, this villain is a keyblade wielder," Izuku said.
"No shit Deku," Bakugo said.
-7-
Kizuna couldn't believe it. The assassin was back. He gripped the keyblade tightly in his hands and stood there, petrified for all of ten seconds. Yoh and Madoka looked at the assassin.
"It's him again..." Madoka said. "Wasn't he fighting two keyblade masters a while ago?"
"Yeah, but I think we've been underestimating him," Yoh said. "The power he is unlike anything I've seen before. It's much greater than the last time I've sensed it."
Kizuna began to have questions in his head. What had happened to the other two? What did this man do to Riku and Xehanort? Why is he after him? Who wants him dead? What is driving this man to go such lengths just to kill him? He needed a straight answer. He needed an explanation.
It was at that point, Kizuna's body moved on its own once again. At that moment, his lips began to move and the words that he had been on his mind began to come out.
"What did you do to Riku and Xehanort?"
The assassin was caught off guard and looked surprised at first, but then he chuckled before smiling sinisterly.
"Oh don't worry, they're not dead," The assassin said. "I've merely... incapacitated them both."
It was then that Deku turned his head to look at Kizuna before looking back at the assassin.
"So you truly are after him," Deku affirmed.
The assassin chuckled again.
"True, quite true," The assassin said. "You see, my associates wanted me to take care of anyone who would interfere with their plans and I mean anyone. Especially you, Izuku Midoriya or should I say Deku?"
"W-What?!" Deku sounded surprised.
"Surprised? You should be," The assassin said. "Tomura Shigaraki spoke much about you."
"Tomura Shigaraki?!" Kizuna and Deku exclaimed.
Kizuna stepped back and bumped into Ruby. He turned to look at her. He met a confused and slightly curious expression that adorned her face.
"Uh, I know this is probably not the best time for me to ask, but who is this Tomura guy you just mentioned?" Ruby asked.
"The most terrifying villain since All for One rose during the Chaos Era," The assassin spoke. "He had a quirk of such destructive potential that two cities were destroyed by his hands. He lead a large group of villains who now have gone underground since the assault on their hideout by Heroes, the police force, and LOGOS combined."
Kizuna looked back at the assassin and turned to face him.
"So you're working with that crusty-lip bastard!" Dynamight said.
"And you're the loudmouth who should have stayed dead since Jaku," The assassin said. "Not that it would matter since you are nothing compared to the likes of me."
"We'll see about that!" Dynamight said.
Dynamight launched himself at the assassin who pointed his keyblade up to the sky.
"DIE!"
BOOM!
He threw his hand out and fired an explosion as his arm had fully extended outward. When the smoke cleared, the assassin was still standing.
"What?!"
"So predictable," The assassin said. "You don't have the slightest bit of experience fighting a keyblade wielder like myself!"
The assassin struck Dynamight's right side with the keyblade and knocked him off to the side with the force of a shotgun. Dynamight was rolling across the street. The assassin then raised his keyblade up to the sky and a lightning bolt shot up to the sky and came down hard on Dynamight, striking him with electricity.
"Dynamight!" Kizuna and Deku exclaimed.
Dynamight roared in pain as he was struck with intense electricity. When the bolt vanished, Dynamight fell to the ground. The assassin turned to the group and immediately darts for Kizuna.
Deku moved in front of Kizuna and put his hands up. The assassin raised the keyblade and swung it down. Deku used one of his hands to block the keyblade. Deku threw an uppercut, to which the assassin tilted his head back away from the punch.
The assassin backflips away from Deku. Madoka pulled on her bow and shot an arrow of light at him. The assassin held his key horizontally and deflects the shot. Yoh then jumped into the fray. He goes in for a slash, but the attack gets parried. Yoh puts his protective oversoul shield up as the assassin attacks. The shield blocks the attack.
"Yoh Asakura... you really think things will still work out in the end?" The assassin asked. "Because if you think so, you will be disappointed."
"Everything will work out. I know it," Yoh said.
"Your optimism won't help you here," The assassin said. "It certainly didn't help you when you fought your twin brother Hao."
Yoh looked surprised. Little did he know he lowered his guard for too long as the assassin capitalized on that break in concentration. The assassin thrusts his keyblade, shooting a fire ball at Yoh. The fireball hits Yoh and knocks him back.
Deku shot black energy tendrils and wrapped them around the assassin.
"Surrender!" Deku said.
"Oh I don't think so," The assassin said.
The tendrils on the assassins head pointed at Deku and dark lightning struck the hero, throwing Deku back. Ruby and her friends charged at the assassin all at once. The assassin jumped into the sky and shoots an icicle. The icicle lands, grows, and then explodes, sending the girls flying.
The assassin lands and looks at Kizuna with an iron stare. Kizuna felt fear in his heart. He held his keyblade and took a stance, keeping his hips squared and having the blade centered.
"Why are you after me?! What did I do to deserve this?!" Kizuna asked.
The assassin chuckled before he started to laugh.
"Alright then. I suppose I should indulge you," the assassin said. "You see, the truth is that I serve the Army of Darkness, known better as the Eternal Darkness."
"Eternal Darkness?!" Kizuna asked.
"Consider it the Anti-LOGOS. One that seeks to throw the world back towards chaos," The assassin said. "LOGOS claims to have saved the world and changed it for the better, but I know better for I have observed mankind for three thousand years!"
"Three thousand years?" Kizuna asked.
The assassin charged at Kizuna. Kizuna blocked an oncoming attack from him and pushed him back before swinging the keyblade at him. The assassin blocked the attack and grabbed Kizuna by the throat. The assassin threw Kizuna into a window, shattering it. The boy rolled on the floor before hitting a wall. The boy got up to see the assassin coming towards him.
"I am Lance, the manifestation of mankind's negative emotions," The assassin said. "Your kind have committed a number of sins that have been witnessed by the universe itself. Wrath, pride, lust, gluttony, envy, sloth, and vanity."
Kizuna took a few breaths, trying to calm down. He closed his eyes.
'I can't take him head on... I got to use magic! It has to work!' Kizuna thought. 'Remember what mom Eva taught you about magic. Magic comes from the heart. The heart creates the energy, the body houses the energy, the soul gives magic form through certain thoughts and sounds...'
He held the keyblade up. A fire ball begins to form from the tip. He opened his eyes.
"Fire!"
He swung the keyblade and the fire ball shot out at Lance. The fire ball hits Lance, but he moves through the burst of flames unaffected.
"Using magic already?" Lance asked. "I'm afraid you are out of your league."
A pink arrow found itself flying at Lance and struck him in his back. Kizuna looked to see Madoka standing there.
"Madoka! Stay back!" Kizuna said.
"Foolish girl..." Lance said as he got back up and turned around. "You should learn to not interfere with someone's personal affairs."
An explosion suddenly blasted the wall, knocking Lance off to the side. Kizuna turned to the source of the blast, expecting Dynamight, only to find a familiar black haired girl with purple eyes coming out of the wall with what definitely looked like a Glock-17.
"Homura!" Madoka said.
"H-Homura?" Kizuna asked.
Homura looked at Kizuna and he could see a shield on her left arm. She simply glared at him and motioned her head to the wall, telling him to leave.
He went out through the hole and he saw more girls approaching them, some that he recognized upon seeing their faces.
"Sayaka, Kyoko, Mami-senpai!" Madoka said.
"Madoka! You're alright!" Sayaka said.
"Of course she's alright. She's tougher than she looks," Kyoko said.
"I'm glad you and him are safe," Mami said. "Hmm... Madoka, you wouldn't happen to know why a few heroes and huntresses are doing here, right?"
"Yeah, and the kid with the headphones has a katana," Kyoko said.
Kizuna walked over to the girls.
"And would you look at that, the boyfriend's alright and... he has a keyblade." Kyoko said.
"Uh... I can explain." Madoka said, blushing.
"Yeah well—"
BOOOM!
They turned to see the explosion with Homura walking away.
"Well that's one way of being thorough..." Sayaka said.
"Ugh..."
Kizuna turned to see Yoh waking up. Ruby and the other girls were waking up. Deku got back up, holding his abdomen.
"I healed them all with potions," Homura said.
Kizuna rushed over to You, getting him back on his feet.
"God... how long was I out?" Yoh asked.
"I... I lost track of time." Amidamaru admitted.
"Long enough to miss a few things," Kizuna said.
"Oh sure..." Yoh said.
"Ow... ow... ow..."
They looked to see Ruby rubbing her head.
"Ruby, you're ok..." Kizuna said with relief.
"I'm glad we survived that encounter..." Weiss said.
"Yeah... I don't have a pun for this and my head hurts a bit," Yang said.
"Ugh..." Blake groaned.
-8-
Izuku picked Bakugo up, only for the young man to wake up and push Izuku away as he stood on his feet.
"Where is that tentacle haired whack job at?" Bakugo asked.
"I wish I knew, I just hope our back up shows up and takes over," Izuku said.
Izuku looks back to the whole group. He breathed a sigh of relief. Just then, something bursted through the roof.
-9-
Everyone had their eyes to the sky as Lance had come down onto the roof.
"You are all starting to annoy me," Lance said. "And you won't like me when I start to feel angry either."
He snapped his hands and the wolf monster suddenly got up and roared.
"Ok, I know there's a thing called the Big Bad Wolf, but I didn't think he'd be that big!" Kyoko said.
"I think we need a bigger gun..." Sayaka said.
"Barktholomew, destroy them!" Lance ordered.
Suddenly, a bright beam of light came down from the sky and struck Barktholomew. There was an explosion and Barktholomew fell down. A suddenly flash of light darted at Lance and knocked him off the roof top of the building he was standing on.
The light faded to reveal a man dressed in white and red, wearing a white top hat. He had green hair and yellow eyes. He had a big smile on his face. He held a keyblade that took the form of a classic skeleton key with the guard in the shape of a crystalized teardrop. The handle resembles a white top hat that has a red mask-like hat band. The blade was in the shape of a theater ticket. The teeth of the Keyblade looked like that of a white rabbit eared creature.
"Who's that?" Kizuna asked.
"Dunno, but I sense a positive aura around him," Yoh said.
The others looked at the man as he stood there.
"N-No! That can't be—!" Lance said.
The man snapped his fingers and everything turned dark for a bit when a spotlight beamed over him.
"Old friend, denial will get you nowhere in life," The man said. "When there is tragedy, there is comedy. When there is shadow, there is light. When there is sadness, there is happiness. Those are the concepts in which life has meaning!"
He snaps his fingers again and the spotlight fades as the sky looks normal again as sunlight pierces through the clouds.
"Hello boys and girls," The man said. "Balan takes the stage once more to bring smiles and joy to the hearts of many!"
Kizuna could only look as the man seemingly sparkled in the light.
"Damn you Balan..." Lance said. "Barktholomew, get rid of them all!"
Barktholomew got back up again and howled. The group looked at the monster and readied themselves for battle. Balan charged at Lance and Lance blocked the incoming attack. The attack released a powerful shockwave the whole group felt. Barktholomew suddenly jumped into the air, jumping all the way to the group before he begins to fall down.
Time began to slow down for Kizuna. He wondered if this was how it was going to end. The voice... no... Sora, was speaking to him in that moment.
Reach into your heart...
Kizuna closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His body began to glow a white light. Kizuna felt himself reaching into his heart.
He then opened his eyes and...
"Light," Kizuna said. "Break my limits!"
He jumped up at the monster. As he did, a small energy field began to build up in his chest.
"Formchange!" Kizuna said. "Second Form!"
The light breaks of his body to reveal his clothes having changed into a different color scheme which was black, yellow, and red in his jacket, his shoes, his shirt, and pants. He spreads his arms and legs out.
"Stun Impact!"
The energy field explodes and is released, hitting the monster from below and knocking it away, stunning it as it fell back and landed on its back. Kizuna landed on his feet perfectly without incident.
Kizuna looked at his clothes which had changed in color and in appearance.
Meanwhile, the others could only look at Kizuna.
"What. Was. That?" Kyoko asked.
"A Formchange right off the bat..." Mami said.
"Formchange?" Sayaka asked.
"Yes," Mami said. "A keyblade can reshape itself into anything depending on the user's memories and thoughts, though there are some limitations to that depending on the keyblade itself. That technique can also change the wielder's' appearance."
"Incredible..." Madoka said.
Balan and Lance were fighting in the sky as Barktholomew began to spin and unleash a several tornadoes. Yoh had his oversoul shield up to protect the group, standing in front of them. Kizuna came beside Yoh as his keyblade warped itself into a shield of its own design. The front had the crown emblem on it.
"King Shield!" Kizuna said.
The boys blocked the tornadoes and the tornadoes dispersed. The wolf looked confused and surprised. Kizuna's shield then turned into a rod with the crown being the rod's head.
"King Rod!" Kizuna said.
"K-Kizuna! How are you doing that?!" Yoh asked.
"I... I don't know! All I know is that I'm really feeling like I'm in the zone!" Kizuna said.
A bunch of fireworks appeared. Kizuna thrusts his rod forth and the fireworks rocket towards the monster. The fireworks explode all around the monster, making it recoil when they exploded on impact.
"He's summoning fireworks..." Yang said.
"Ok, I know Keyblades can turn into different weapons, but I wasn't expecting anything like this..." Weiss said.
Ruby could only look in awe with a smile on her face.
The keyblade changed back to its original form. Kizuna looked at the monster that was now looking at him in anger. It barked at him. Kizuna then heard a different voice.
Time to... finish it...
'Finish it... yeah... I understand...' Kizuna thought.
Balan smacked Lance off onto a building. Lance looked at Barktholomew.
"Barktholomew! Destroy them!"
Barktholomew roared and charged forth. Kizuna focused his energy on the keyblade and small energy projectiles shaped like keys shot forth around Kizuna. The projectiles hit Barktholomew, causing the behemoth to stagger a bit. Kizuna darts for Barktholomew and makes a series of slash attacks.
"Sonic Blade!"
Kizuna went up, slashing as he dashed all the way up. He jumped off Barktholomew's head and turned around.
'Now for my own super move!' Kizuna thought. "King Blade!"
His keyblade grew into a giant long sword and held it up. Wings sprout from his back as he circles the blade around. A yellow light forms around the edge.
"Ars Arcanum Excalibur!" Kizuna said as he swung the sword down.
The blade cuts Barktholomew in half. Kizuna backed away as his clothes went back to normal and the keyblade changed to its original form. Barktholomew let's out one final howl before his body exploded into nothing but dark particles that dissipated. The wings recede and Kizuna got on one knee.
-10-
Lance could only look at this and he knew that his plan failed. He looked at Balan fiercely.
"This isn't over Balan! This is the beginning!" Lance said before creating a dark portal and running through it.
Balan looked to see the entire group surround the boy.
'Yes, perhaps he is the one after all...' Balan thought.
And so concludes another chapter of World of Hearts: Linked as One.
"I know, I know. I'm late."
I had to postpone because I got lots of things going on and I'm still trying to work out this whole being an adult in society. Suffice to say, I'm just glad I graduated from community college back in 2021. I'm finally excited to finally work on this thing and make this universe come to life.
Now I know some people are going to probably question my decision to get Balan Wonderland mixed up into this because let's be honest, that game didn't go so well due to how wonky the controls are, the story making little to no sense at all, etc. Thankfully, I have some good reasons why I'm doing this.
1. The game's art style.
The art in the game, especially the concept art is amazing to look at. Yuji Naka, the game's designer, learned a lot from his colleagues in Sega, Sonic Team, and Square Enix, the guys who made Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, and poured all of that into Balan Wonderland's character designs. I like the cartoony designs and how he made the enemies to represent negative human emotions witht the masks and rainbow marks and everything.
2. Lorewise
The game had a novel that makes the story a little easier to understand. In that novel, its revealed that both Balan and Lance had existed for well over 3000 years. By the end of Balan Wonderland, it becomes apparent that both Balan and Lance were once a single entity before they eventually split in half. This was something I could use in World of Hearts because it adds a whole lot of mystery aroud the two.
3. My own personal opinions.
Personally, I feel like Balan Wonderland can fit into this universe because Light and Darkness exist because the heart is made of both and positive and negative emotions affect the balance between light and dark. Balan and Lance are opposites of each other. Positivity or light cannot exist without negativity or darkness and vice versa. Balan wants people to smile and stay positive to preserve peace and order while Lance wants people to be consumed by their own fears and wallow in despair to drive them into chaos. Plus, I don't care if the game is bad. It certaintly has my attention and it would be kind of a waste to let it sit there and rot in heaps of criticism and be forgotten.
4. Parallels
Like I said, Balan and Lance are seperate individuals of a single being much like how Death the Kid and the Kishin Asura were created from Death in Soul Eater. They both represent yin and yang where Balan and Kid represent order (or try to maintain order) while Lance and Asura represent chaos and all chaotic aspects (with Asura being all the fear Death had seperated from himself). I could name other parallels, but then I'd be wasting more time.
Those are about all the reasons I can give. I wish I could give more but I can't think of anything else.
Now as for Eternal Darkness, you'll probably find out more about them in the upcoming chapter introducing the villains of World of Hearts. Like Lance said, Eternal Darkness is the antithesis of LOGOS and seeks to undo what LOGOS has done and plunge the world into chaos. Who exactly is in this group? Could Tomura actually working for them? Could All for One be invovled with them as well? What about the rest of the organization? Who else could be working with them and why? Who could their leader be?
And what of our heroes? What about them? What is going to happen now that the day has been saved?
Find out later in the next thrilling chapter of World of Hearts: Linked as One.
P.S. No, the Disney Villains are NOT part of Eternal Darkness as I have something planned for them which you will see later in the future.
Stay tuned.
