Act 1
Chapter 6
Behemoth
Kizuna and his group managed to climb down the mountain and were now making their way to the exit. Behind them were scores of applicants following them. Kizuna couldn't wait for the exams to be all over. He could almost see his life ahead of him. Getting into Daybreak Academy, hanging out with his friends, going on missions together, learning how to harness the keyblade and forging his own techniques, being accepted into the Keyblade Order, and so much more. He couldn't wait for those days to come.
Just then, a sense of dread began to fall upon him.
Then he was suddenly thrown across the place.
He heard the trees rustling as people screamed and a loud roar was heard.
It happened so suddenly, and without warning, he had barely enough reaction time to land on his feet. He had his keyblade snag onto a tree branch. He landed on the branch just from swinging on top of it.
He dropped down and turned around to see a giant mass standing between him and the group.
He heard animalistic growling as the mass got up. He saw powerful limbs built on impressive musculature. A single bull-like horn was seen as another horn could be seen, only it looked like it had been snapped off. He saw the head of a sabertooth tiger, snarling at him, with one pupilless eye. It had a mohawk-like mane.
This was no Grimm.
This thing...
... is a Behemoth.
Kizuna couldn't believe the size of that beast. It was incredibly big, about the size of a semi-truck. He had heard about Behemoths before, but that was on a documentary he saw on the Internet once. He felt his legs shaking. He never felt this terrified before. He couldn't fight a Behemoth all by himself. He had to get away from it. He ran off, the Behemoth gave chase. He felt so much adrenaline pumping through his veins. He was running as fast as his legs could carry him, but the Behemoth was closing in.
'No amount of training could have prepared me for a Behemoth of all things!' Kizuna thought. 'When did LOGOS even get their hands on a behemoth?!'
He felt a strong impact against his right side. His body was knocked into the air for a brief moment before slamming into the ground. He bounced a few times, rolling as he did, before landing on his stomach. Kizuna got back up and turned around. He saw the beast walking slowly towards him. The beast was watching him, observing him. Kizuna squats down a bit and holds his keyblade so that it faces toward his back. He met the beast's eyes.
'Remember what your mother taught you on how to fight large opponents,' Kizuna thought. 'The first strategy to fighting larger enemies is to get in close and turn their size against them. Close the distance and get up close to the enemy and then strike them down before they can even react.'
He rushes towards the behemoth. The Behemoth springs into action, leaping towards him. Kizuna slides across the ground. He sticks his keyblade in the ground as the beast overshoots and lands. He then turned around and kicked his feet off the ground, propelling him towards the beast as it began to turn around.
'Flow Motion Martial Arts,' Kizuna thought.
He then went in for a midair sliding sidekick.
"Sora Kick!"
FLOW
MOTION
MARTIAL
ARTS
The boy slams his foot right between the behemoth's eyes. The impact causes shockwaves to run through the behemoth.
SORA
His momentum stops and he kicks himself off the behemoth. The behemoth recoils from the hit as he landed on the ground.
KICK
Kizuna looked at the behemoth as it groans, rubbing its head with one of its paws. Jiminy popped out of Kizuna's pocket.
"That was incredible, Daichi!" Jiminy said. "That was flow-motion, wasn't it?"
"Yup, Sora's been teaching me some of his fancy moves," Kizuna said. "I figured it would come in handy at a time like this, especially during all that training I went through with my mom in the mountains."
Flashback
"You want me to what?" Kizuna asked his mother Eva.
"I want you to punch this tree with all your strength," Eva said. "Consider it a lesson."
Kizuna felt confused and for a very good reason. How could punching a tree count as a lesson? He thought that maybe his mother hit her head too hard. He sighed, deciding to go along with it. He winds his fist back and punches the tree. He felt pain in his fist and pulls his fist away. He looked at his mother, she showed no response, she just stared at him.
"As you now know, your fist didn't do anything to that tree," Eva said. "And why is that?"
"Because trees are tough?" Kizuna asked. He was met with a karate chop to the head.
"Not even close," Eva said. "As sturdy as a tree may be, it can be brought down with more than brute force."
She took a deep breath. She looked at the tree beside her. "Observe."
She punches the tree as hard as she possibly could.
The tree then falls over.
Kizuna's jaw dropped at the sight. His mother took that tree down with a single punch. He went over to the tree... only to find that the tree itself did not have a hole in it.
"How did you manage to do that?" Kizuna asked. "And without leaving an actual dent?"
"It's simple," Eva said, putting a hand over her chest. "This is the power of the heart."
"The power of the heart?" Kizuna asked. "You mean... as in Ki, Chakra, Haki, Nen, Aura, and so on?"
"Exactly," Eva said. "The Heart not has given us memories and emotions, it gave us life energy. We can sense this energy all around us. It exists in all living things. It is what gave us life to begin with. The Heart teaches us that true power lies from within."
"I see..." Kizuna said. "But that doesn't explain how you manage to not even leave a dent in the tree."
"Because I had exerted control over my power," Eva said. "But when I threw that punch, I relinquished that control and let myself flow along with the power."
"Flow?" Kizuna asked.
"Yes," Eva said. "That is to be your next lesson: to flow with the river."
"Flow with the river..." Kizuna said. "To relinquish control and let the power flow..."
A black energy tendril grabbed Kizuna and pulled him away from the staggered beast. He saw Izuku looking at him with amazement.
"That was incredible, Kizuna," Izuku said. "You stood up that Behemoth. Not everyone would just fight a behemoth head-on like that."
"Look, Izuku, I think we should get going before he snaps out of it and actually tries to kill us..." Kizuna said with sweat coming from his head.
"A-Ah, r-right!" Izuku said.
The two boys ran off, leaving the behemoth behind.
Up in the observation room, Toshinori was looking right at Qrow in anger, shaking him around like a rag doll.
"You put a behemoth in there with a bunch of kids?!" Toshinori asked.
"I don't see the problem from where I'm standing," Qrow said. "Besides, using Deadeye will help us truly understand whether or not this Balan guy is actually right about that kid."
"But your nieces are in there!" Toshinori asked.
"Calm down, Toshi," he heard Ursula speak up.
He looked to Ursula, who looked concerned. Toshinori releases Qrow and takes a deep breath.
"That Kizuna boy is quite interesting," A male voice was heard.
Along with a clicking sound. A white-haired man with stitches on his face and a screw lodged into the side of his head was smoking a cigarette. He had a rather maniacal smile on his face that was upsetting to Toshinori, Ursula, and Qrow.
"Dr. Franken Stein..." Toshinori said.
"I have to admit, I wasn't entirely interested in him to begin with, even after that top hat clown said that this kid he met was Sora's reincarnation," Stein said. "But now, I think that after all of this is said and done, maybe I should dissect him along with some of our more... promising new students."
"For the love of Oum, Stein, can you go at least one minute—no—an hour without you so much as talking about dissecting someone?" Qrow asked. "I dunno what you're boss was thinking when he decided to have you come here to Daybreak, but if you touch my niece, you're the one who's going to need a dissection."
"Calm down, both of you," another male voice said.
Toshinori looked to see a man with red hair and two fangs coming out from his lower jaw. He was wearing a pair of glasses and a nice suit.
"We are all comrades and friends, are we not?" The man said.
"Look Santa Claus, I don't like this guy for how much of a creep he is," Qrow said. "Sure, I get the whole "he's the DWMA's best meister" and all that, but let's not forget that this guy has an unhealthy obsession with slicing things open and experimenting on people for shits and giggles."
"Forget it Klaus, the only thing he knows is how to get himself smacked around by a woman and get into bar fights," Stein said. "But you made your point, so I'll stop."
Toshinori looked at the screen.
'Young Midoriya...' Toshinori thought.
He looked to see Mickey, looking at the screen with but one emotion: determination. Toshinori had heard all about the former King Mickey, how he once ruled a kingdom of his own before his world faced destruction, and how the mouse was resurrected into this world. The anthropomorphic mouse was full of mysteries surrounding himself. There were times when Toshinori couldn't make heads or tails of the mouse's way of thinking, this being the most recent time among them.
Just what could that mouse be thinking at a time like this?
Kizuna's group had been running nonstop and now they were beginning to feel tired from all that running. They got to a huge clearing in the woods. There stood a huge building that looked somewhat like a large bunker with a huge door open. The group sat down by the building, sighing in relief. The adrenaline had pushed them to run for their very lives and now that they were coming down from that adrenaline high, they were starting to feel weak at the knees. They ran quite a distance.
"I can't believe we actually made it..." Kyoko said. "We made it!"
"My legs are about to give out," Sayaka said.
"See? Everything turned out fine," Yoh said.
Homura and Madoka sat down together. Homura could see the worry on Madoka's face.
"Kizu-kun..." Madoka said to herself.
"Are you still worrying about him?" Homura asked.
"Yeah..." Madoka said. "That behemoth looked very scary."
"I know what you mean," Homura said. "I never thought I'd see a behemoth that close before. It truly is a ferocious monster."
"Hey, look!" Ruby said.
Izuku and Kizuna made it to the place. Madoka got up as the two boys walked over to the group.
"So you two made it back alive," Todoroki said. "And the Behemoth?"
"Well, it's off our backs," Kizuna said. "At least for a while."
Soon enough, more people began to show up. They were all heading towards the building. He could see just how exhausted some of them were. It must have been tough on them, going from location to location while fighting off enemies along the way.
He saw a few familiar faces coming into view.
It was that Ai girl he met before the exams began, followed by Diana and Akko.
He even caught a glimpse of... Usagi in a sailor outfit with a tiara?
Her friends were wearing the same thing but with different colors and accessories.
'Wait a minute...' Kizuna thought. 'Why are they dressed like they're doing a full female Super Sentai gig?'
"Hey!"
He saw Ai coming over to him. He was caught by surprise and fumbled over his words.
"N-Nanami," Kizuna said. "You made it here?"
"Yeah, I did, so what was that loud noise I just heard—?"
"Kizuna?" Izuku asked. "I hate to interrupt, but do you—?"
"Her name's Ai Nanami," Kizuna said. "She's another keyblade wielder I ran into before the exams started."
"Another keyblade wielder?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah," Kizuna said. "There was one other keyblade wielder I met before her."
Izuku looked interested in what Kizuna had to say.
"The other wielder was some guy called Yujo Yukikaze," Kizuna said. "He... he's a very mysterious guy. I don't know what to make of him. All I know is that he's got an attitude problem."
"Uh..."
The sound of a loud explosion caught the boy's attention.
"What in the heck was that?!" Kyoko exclaimed.
Kizuna jumped onto Izuku's head and jumped off with an incredible burst of speed before jumping from branch to branch in rapid succession. Izuku turned around.
"He's fast..." Izuku said.
Yujo rolls off to the side as the behemoth lunged at him, swiping its powerful arm at him. He dodged the attack and strikes the beast with his keyblade. The beast growled from being hit on the head and shakes its head side to side, hitting Yujo with its one horn. He got up as the beast looked at him, growling menacingly. Yujo had blood coming from the top of his head.
'So this is what a behemoth... amazing,' Yujo thought. 'Such incredible physical power and sheer ferocity... it's no wonder why some of the world's revered monster hunters are hesitant in fighting such a beast. It truly does deserve the name Behemoth.'
The behemoth charged. Yujo jumped into the air.
"Formchange!" Yujo said. "Dark Lancet!"
The keyblade began to transform. The keyblade expands itself into a long shaft before the wings come together to form a spearhead. Yujo lands on the Behemoth's back and stabs the spear into the Behemoth. The behemoth promptly shakes its body, trying to remove Yujo from its back. Yujo was thrown off the behemoth. He rolls on the ground and gets back up. He twirls the spear around for a bit before pointing at the monster ahead of him.
'I guess I should use my innate cursed technique,' Yujo thought. 'Shadow Bat.'
His shadow changed into a bat with a wicked smile. The shadow jumped up from behind Yujo and began to attack the behemoth. Yujo charged at the behemoth head on. The spearhead changes with the wings moving to reveal massive spikes that formed a bident. Yujo proceeds to thrust the spear at the beast as the shadow bat relentlessly slammed into the behemoth with cursed energy. The spear jabs the beast several times. The beast roars before raising one of its arms up. Yujo backed away as the beast slams its paw down on the ground. The spearhead changes again, this time, going back to the way it was prior to its transmogrification.
"Shadow Bat, Dark Wings," Yujo said.
The Shadow Bat straps itself to Yujo's back, forming wings. Yujo flew up and spins the spear over his head. Black bat-shaped projectiles appear around him. He points the spear at the beast and the projectiles came flying towards the beast. He begins to dive-bomb the behemoth. The beast is hit with the projectiles that burst on impact. The behemoth growled in annoyance. Yujo strikes the monster with the spear and flew up before repeating the dive-bomb move again and again.
'Yes, I'm making progress! If I can keep this up, he'll get weak,' Yujo thought. 'Once he's been weakened well enough, I'll finish the job!'
As he came around for another dive-bomb attack, he noticed something had changed.
'What?!' He thought to himself.
The behemoth was standing up straight.
Behemoths have always had the ability to switch from being quadrupeds to bipeds for as long as they have existed. They sometimes stand up in order to intimidate potential rivals and as a means of display to attract potential mates.
But in this instance, the behemoth had a completely different reason for standing up.
This whole time, the Behemoth hadn't considered the possibility that he'd face an adversary that was not only capable of flight, but was also fast and agile. In order to counter the attacker's dive-bomb strategy, it stood up, knowing that it would have a better chance at catching the attacker in the midst of another dive-bomb.
Yujo was not going to be intimidated by a behemoth, not while he can still press the advantage. He goes in for another dive-bomb attack.
"Shadow Bat, Bat Shell!" Yujo said.
The shadow covered his whole body in a shell with a spiraling point on it. Yujo was aware of the risk he was taking. If that behemoth catches him in midair, he's a goner. Even if he was going in at a straight line, he still had the speed advantage. If he could just slip past the behemoth's reach and land the attack, the strike will knock the beast off its balance and make it fall on its back.
'I have to make it!' He thought to himself.
He looked at the beast head-on and saw, for a tiny moment, a spark.
A spark of electricity.
Sparks were coming off the beast's only remaining horn. The sight shocked Yujo.
'It can still cast magic,' Yujo thought. 'With only one horn?!'
It was too late for Yujo to stop his approach. He was headed straight for the behemoth, even as it was about to cast magic. The behemoth shot a thunderbolt at Yujo, hitting him with electricity, causing the boy to be suspended in the air for a brief moment. The beast lunged at Yujo and smacks the boy back onto the ground with the shell still protecting him.
Yujo felt three or four of his ribs cracking on impact. The shell broke down and he looked up to see the beast get back down on all fours.
'Damnit... move, body, move!' Yujo thought. 'Why won't my body listen to me?!'
He saw the beast coming closer to him, inspecting him. His weapon vanished.
'Damnit... I can't let it end here like this!' Yujo thought. 'I refuse to die in this damn forest!'
He could feel the Behemoth breathing down his writhing form. Its breath was heavier than a dumbbell. Yujo's body was paralyzed. As it was as if something had seized him and was keeping him from moving. He felt pain over his right side. The impact must have reached his liver. He was in so much pain. He looked at the beast in defiance, gritting his teeth together as he looked defiant in the face of death.
He had come so far just to make it here. He spent years training his body, his mind, his skills, his cursed techniques, and his swordsmanship for this day to come. He will not be denied of his destiny, his right, to become one of the greatest keyblade wielders in the world. He was not going to be denied by this beast, or anything else that stands between him and his ambitions!
Not even—!
A sudden flash of light caused the behemoth to back away, closing its eyes and roaring. Yujo got finally managed to get up. He looked around before falling onto one knee, a hand on the right side of his torso. He saw someone standing in front of him. The person turned around and he saw a familiar face.
It was Kizuna Daichi. He was holding some kind of rod with a crown on top of it.
"Hey, are you alright?" Kizuna asked.
Yujo was dumbfounded. He was expecting Yuji, maybe Megumi, or Nobara, but not Kizuna.
The behemoth roared again, looking furious as ever. Kizuna turned to the beast and hoists the rod into the air. Crown-shaped projectiles fired forth from the hammer. The beast roared weakly as it took the hits. The beast backs away. Kizuna pulls the rod down. Yujo, realizing that his weapon was still in his hand, gripped it tightly. He pushed Kizuna aside.
"Hey! What's the big idea?!" Kizuna said, looking at Yujo with frustration. "I just saved your life—!"
"I didn't ask for your help," Yujo said. He held his spear up. "Change! Crescendo Night Blade!"
His keyblade began to change once again. The wings move down to the guard of a sword as a blade appears in the middle. The wings form a giant bat.
"Shadow Bat! Infusion!"
The Shadow Bat rose again, this time, fusing with the weapon itself. Cursed energy surges on the blade. Yujo began to move the bat up from the guard to the tip of the blade.
'This is my power! Watch as I perform this crescendo over this symphony!' Yujo thought.
He brought the bat down to the guard. The cursed energy was devoured by the bat. The aura of the cursed energy was infused into the blade. He moves the bat up again before bringing it back down again. The aura becomes more noticeable. He raises the bat one more time before bringing it down.
'Cursed Shadow Charge x3!' Yujo thought as he grips the handle tightly with both hands.
The behemoth charges at Yujo. He puts the sword towards the back, positioning the handle towards his hip, and squats down. Yujo practiced this posture for this technique that he had come up with, a one-hit strike that combines jujutsu with iaijutsu. It was a technique that he had poured his heart and soul into for this moment.

He pulls the bat back to the guard...
CURSED CRESCENDO ONE-HIT FLASH
... and the Behemoth falls down.
His Shadow Bat came out of the sword and went back to the ground, changing back into a regular shadow. His keyblade changed back to its original form while Kizuna's rod changed into a keyblade.
'Were you watching, Master Riku?' Yujo thought. 'Did you see that, Gojo-sensei? Did you see my power at full display?'
He looked at a blatantly baffled Kizuna with a smirk.
"Now do you see the gap between us?" Yujo asked. "You will never reach my level of power, for I am... I am..."
Everything went dark.
His voice became silent.
Kizuna couldn't believe it. Yujo was standing like a statue. Kizuna waved his hands in front of Yujo's eyes. The man was still breathing, he could tell from where he was standing. Kizuna realized that the man had gone unconscious while standing.
Later...
The practical test was over, just like that. Kizuna had to drag Yujo back into the bunker just before the door closed. After he and Yujo came back, all the applicants took an elevator down to a loading bay. They then followed the lights that led them into a large gymnasium. They were directed to the busses, which would take them to a hotel where the applicants will temporarily stay before the results came in.
At Night
Kizuna was in a room by himself. He was anxious to find out about the test results. Did he get into Daybreak? Did he do well enough to get accepted into the school? Will the Keyblade Order even notice him? He was told that the results would come in by nighttime. He was pacing around in the room, looking uneasy. Jiminy watched as the boy was walking back and forth.
"Come now, young man, I know you feel tense about it, but can you at least go to bed before?" Jiminy asked. "You know what they say, the early bird gets the worm."
"I know Jim... I know!" Kizuna said, still anxious. "But this is like a once-in-a-lifetime chance! If I don't get accepted into the school, I'll have to wait a whole year just to try again! If that happens, I'll also lose the chance to get into the Keyblade Academy!"
This was certainly a big deal for the young man. The Keyblade Order has always been looking for new recruits to bring into the fold. The Old Keyblade Order founded many temples during ancient times, the first of which was built in Scala ad Caelum, a city-state formed from a cluster of ancient mountain citadel islands linked together by an intricate tram system. There is one such academy in Neo Bastion. The Keyblade Academies work in conjunction with schools all across the world that are linked to the Hero Association, including the most noticeable schools like UA, Luna Nova, DWMA, the Huntsmen Academies, and (technically) Daybreak Academy. The Keyblade Academies select potential initiates throughout the school year to see which of these students has the potential to use a keyblade. The academies have other ways of finding potential initiates. Once they find a promising individual, they will send them an invitation to take an Initiation Exam. Depending on the results of the said exam, the individual will either be accepted into the academy or not. Once accepted, they will be given a license that allows a keyblade wielder to use a keyblade out in public.
"I made a promise to my mom that I'd get into the Keyblade Academy," Kizuna said. "If I don't get into the academy..."
"Calm down, Kizuna," Sora said. "You'll get into DB and you'll get into the Keyblade Academy. I'm sure of it."
Kizuna sighed.
"If you say so..." Kizuna said.
He heard a sound. It was coming from the door. By the entrance of the door was an envelope. He picked it up and took it to a table. He sat down and opened it up. He reached into it and pulled out a small device. The device switched on and it began to project something. He dropped it as the activation startled him. A video message began to play.
"CONGRATULATIONS!" A very familiar voice filled his ears.
Then he saw him.
It was Balan! He was on the message! But why?
"Young man, I am proud to say that you have passed the entrance exams with flying colors!" Balan said. "As such, you will now—huh? What? What do you mean these messages will only last a whole minute and a half? Who decided that? Alright... Alright, I'll make it short."
Balan clears his throat.
"So, you got into Daybreak Academy, just like I thought you would, but that's not all you got yourself into," Balan said. "That's right, in light of your performance back there, the Keyblade Order has decided to keep a close eye on you. They might even send you an invite to the Initiation Exams."
Kizuna was in tears from hearing this. He was choking on his sobs, trying not to cry.
'If... if this is a dream, I don't wanna wake up...' Kizuna thought. 'Mom... Momma... dad... I... I did it...'
He got up from the chair and hoisted his arms in triumph.
"I DID IT!" Kizuna said.
Yujo had a smug smile on his face after the message ended. It was obvious that he had passed. He studied well for the exams and he trained a lot. Not only was he in Daybreak Academy, but he was also sure that the Keyblade Academy has recognized his strength.
'I now walk the path to Heaven, for I alone am the honored one,' Yujo thought to himself. 'Now comes the next step for my path to becoming what I was destined to be.'
"My opponents will be stronger, but I will be the strongest," Yujo said. "Isn't that right? Master Riku?"
Ai sighed in relief, knowing that she got into Daybreak Academy. That was one enormous weight off her chest.
'I can't wait to write to my grandma about this,' Ai thought. 'I'm going to make a lot of friends this year, I know it!'
"Grandma is so gonna be so happy if she hears about all this!" Ai said.
A man in a black hood was standing on a skyscraper, overlooking the city.
"You know, I can get used to this brand new world," the hooded man said. "I just hope it doesn't suck like the last one..."
Next Time on World of Hearts: Linked as One
"That's our homeroom teacher?!"
"As your homeroom teacher, I'll also be doubling as your combat instructor."
"The boss of the Italian mafia is our classmate?"
"My name is Giorno Giovanna, and I have a dream."
"When did our class get full of celebrities all of a sudden?"
"You certainly are an interesting one."
"Come! Kizuna Daichi!"
"Yujo Yukikaze!"
The school year has just begun! Watch as an exciting cast of characters meets together as fellow students at Daybreak Academy! Stay tuned for Act 2!
A/N: And so ends Act 1. Now we move on to Act 2. From here on, we move into the school life that the characters will live in. All eyes will be on our protagonist's class. I have not completely decided who will be the class' homeroom teacher, but if you have any suggestions, I'll hear you out if you send a review now. I thought that either Gintoki Sataka from Gintama or Izumi Curtis from Full Metal Alchemist would be a shoo-in for the job.
Gintoki Sakata is (by far) the most relatable character in all of anime (unless you know an even more relatable anime character) who doesn't have any wacky powers at all in a world filled with said wacky powers. All he has is his incredibly heightened physical abilities, his combat experience, his skills with a sword, and his ridiculously powerful wooden sword. Just like the preview for the next implies, the homeroom teacher will double as a combat instructor. Personality-wise, Gintoki would make a good teacher despite his laziness, his gambling habits, his love for alcohol, his childlike behavior, his tendency to act like an idiot, etc. Despite all these bad traits, he seems like someone who would care about his students and could even empathize or sympathize with them, as he had no family of his own and has been haunted by his experience in fighting a war and would be dedicated to his job of being a teacher.
Izumi Curtis is a housewife (a fact that she calmly tells people when they meet her for the first time and ask who she is) who is like a mother figure to the Elric Brothers from when they were young and when they grew up. She's a hardworking woman who believes in hard work and dedication and would implore her students not to resort to using their powers for something that could be done by hand, giving them a new approach to work with. Beneath her humble exterior is a fearsome disposition that the Elric Brothers know and fear. She is prone to violent outbursts whenever someone calls her 'old' and won't hesitate to throw hands with someone. She can get intimidating, especially if she starts cracking her knuckles. Despite her aggressive attitude, she's a warm, caring individual, which can play out well in her role. While her physical abilities aren't as insane as Gintoki's, she is incredible in hand-to-hand combat and boasts great strength, capable of handling multiple people at a time and holding her own against a homunculus like Sloth, who is a lot heavier and stronger than her. She is a master when it comes to alchemy, despite being self-taught and before gaining the ability to use alchemy without a transmutation circle. I could see her being there for her students when times are tough and would give them some comfort because she herself was like them once before. Having lost her child the moment it was born was enough to make her feel desperate and depressed to the point where she would try her hand at human transmutation, a taboo practice in the world of FMA. In the end, she lost some of her internal organs as a result, rendering her completely unable to have any children of her own. Having one of the characters call her 'mom,' even if it was accidental or not, would have an effect on her.
As such, I felt like these two were likely the best options I have since it wouldn't make sense for Aizawa to be the class' homeroom teacher since he already has a job at UA. Even if Daybreak would give him a better pay grade, I think he feels more at home in UA, seeing as how some new students are rolling in after a whole year has passed. Toshinori, Ursula, Stein, Klaus, and Qrow are going to be teachers of course. That much is certain. As to what they will be teaching, you'll just have to wait until Act 2 drops.
Anyways, see ya next time!
