Ch. 59 Gamble

"A gamble huh? Is that really what it has come to…" Magath thinks
"Fine, but I'll be going," Colt tells Magath
"No!" I protests
"You're not even sure if there are any explosives in there, I am not letting you go out there!" Colt shouts
"I'm young they likely hesitate to shoot," I argue with Colt "look sir all I have to do is get to that crater out there and the battle will be won" I tell Magath
Magath tries thinking it over
"There are seven targets inside either you go with Colt or Colt goes on his own" Magath says
"Seven?!" Shit there's no way I can take them all on my own
"Wait! Please let me go sir," Gabi steps in between me and the general "I'm more agile I'm very confident I can get this done more swiftly" she says
"What?!" I growl "no way! C'mon Colt"
"Stop! Are you an idiot they'll shoot your brother on sight!" Gabi shouts "look, trust me I can get us to that crater okay?" She sets her hands on my shoulders

"Fine" I agree
Gabi smiles widely "sir with your permission we'd like to take off our armbands!" Gabi shouts over the gunfire
"Permission granted, make it quick!"
Gabi began undressing and I follow her lead taking everything except my boxers off
"Ready?" Gabi asks before Colt grabs my wrist
"Don't you die now" he growls
"I won't" I smile "you know my time hasn't come yet"
He gives me a little smirk before finding the courage to let me go
Gabi throws an arm over my shoulder and let's the other hang down her side
I wrap one arm around her waist and hold the other out trying to signal the gunner to hold his fire
After a few seconds they finally stop firing
"Stop please!" I shout as we began limping over
It looked like they were arguing as if debating whether or not to shoot us
Perfect
Just a bit further
"Get ready to fall in" I remind her
"Right" she says
We were right beside the crater when I watch them finally taking aim
"Now" I whisper at Gabi
She trips as if she twisted her foot before rolling inside the crater
I reach behind her taking a stick grenade she was hiding in her waist band
After activating it I chuck it over our heads and it lands exactly where I was hoping it would
We take cover and block our ears before hearing the explosion
After the coast was clear we hurry over to the bunker
"Watch out for fragments!" I shout at Gabi as she took cover beside the bunker
"I know!" She shouts
I close my eyes as I throw the flash grenade into the bunker before covering my ears
Even though I managed to cover my ears properly the pop send a faint ringing in my ears
Even so we jumped right in
I take aim managing to easily put down two targets with only two of my bullets but I hesitate after seeing the third beside some boxes
If those are explosives were all done
So I quickly tuck my C9 away before I lounge at the soldier that had regained his senses
I slam my shin onto his knee so hard I snapped it back
He drops on his knees painfully before I elbow his chin knocking him right out
The second guy lounged at me
I slam my fists into all of his vitals just like dad had taught me and I get him to slow down before I smash his liver knocking the wind out of him
I suddenly feel someone wrap their arms around my waist before they body slam me into the ground
"Ghk" I cough
"Agh!" I hear Gabi
"Gabi!" I shout
She was getting choked out
"Gahd damn it" I grunt
I wrap my legs around his arm pushing him on his back getting him into a beautiful armlock that he had no chance of escaping
I quickly draw my C9
I extend my arm aiming right at the guy that was choking Gabi out and I pull the trigger blasting his brains all over the wall
"Now you" I grunt finally managing to snap his elbow along with dislocating his shoulder
"Gah!" I let go of his arm and he rolls aside
But before he could do a thing I snap his neck
"Agh-gh-kgh" I hear the guy I knocked the wind out of still trying to catch his breath
"Ugh shit" I pull the string off a stick grenade before I shove it right down his throat
I grab his shirt throwing him over the large opening where we had came in from before he explodes sending a signal to Colt that we had done it
"Hehe, that's right" I pat myself down
"Mgh" Gabi groans rubbing her throat
"You alright?" I ask
"Yeah I'm just fine!" She crosses her arms
"Hehe c'mon" I giggle as she helped herself up
"Haha whoa jackpot!" She laughs
There were two carts both with four boxes of explosives each
"Alright perfect" I grab one
I push it outside before going uphill and dumping them onto the tracks
"This should be more than enough" I back up
"Right this'll blow them straight into Skypiea" Gabi giggles before she dumps the other cart onto the railway
Only she had stacked it up with four more boxes of ammunition
"Are you an idiot?!" I shout
"What? This'll put on a great show" she giggles
"Yeah sure, now let's try getting back without blowing into bits" I say
Her eyes widen "oh shit, your right" she says before we began bolting back to our comrades
The train was coming fast there was no way it would be able to break in time
I look over at Colt who was being held back by General Magath and some other eldians
I look back there's no way we'll make it to the trenches in time
The crater
I turn to Gabi
She was heading straight to the trenches
I quickly run to her as fast as I could before I wrap my arms around her, tackling her into the crater
"Agh" she grunts after her back lands right in between my legs "what's your problem idio-"
I wrap my arm around her throat yanking her back down before the explosion finally hit
It was so strong it sent a wave of fire right over our heads that would surely burnt us to crisps
"Wh-what?" Gabi groans as we watch shards of the train along with bullets from all the ammunition she dumped shoot over our heads
"Th-that was too close" I huff letting go of her as the worst finally past
It takes her a second to really take in the fact she almost got obliterated by the blast
"C'mon" she finally says
She helps me up and together we manage to get back to the trenches
"Haha that's right Falco" Colt roughs up my hair
"Haha yeah yeah," I laugh
"Piek! Galliard!" Magath shouts
It wasn't long till we heard a loud roar over our heads and Gilliard charges into battle in his jaw Titan along with Piek right behind him
"Alright!" Gabi shouts
"Sir I have given Reiner and Zeke the green light to commence the airborne assault" the Marleyan that scolded me earlier says
"Perfectly done Falco, you've won us this war" Magath says
"Thank you sir" I smiles widely
"Oh whatever" Gabi mutters
From here on all we watched as the airborne unit rained Titans down onto the enemy's base
We watch as Titans devoured our enemy, we could only imagine what horrors it must be being completely hopeless against those monsters
The rest went smoothly only Reiner took a heavy hit but he managed to survive the ordeal
Hours later we're now finally on our way home where Colt had far too much to drink and was praising the hell out of me and Gabi for earlier
Soon morning came and we finally arrived back home
"Ahhh home sweet home!" Gabi hops out of the cart
"Try not to be so loud will ya?" Colt grumbles
"It's your own fault for drinking so much last night" I help him out
"Yeah well it didn't help that the train was swaying so much either" he groans
"C'mon" I help him towards the gates to Liberio
I look up
Mom..
She so beautiful
I'll never get used to seeing her…
Like that..
She had a band aid right under her eye
Dad..
I could see him wearing this black cloak along with Colts Coolie hat he always wore when he went out
He was standing right behind him
I could tell they were arguing again by the look on moms face and of course that band aid
But then it was as if all her troubles disappear once she finally saw us
"Hey mom!" I wave as the gate began opening
"Falco!" She waves
"Hey" I giggle as I help Colt over
"Oh wow look at you, you look so handsome in your uniform" she pats my clothes
"I know right" I giggle
"And oh my what's wrong with you Colt?" She asks
"Hehe" Colt giggles
"He had a little too much to drink last night" I say
"Heh yeah but I should be fine now, hey mom" he gives her a little hug
"Here I'll help you on" mom throws his arm over her shoulder
"S-so whats up dad I didn't expect to see you here" I finally say something to dad after he refused to say a word
"Tsk" he smacks his lips "I'm only here because your mother made me come" he says
"Oh c'mon you didn't even open the shop today, you were only laying in bed" she says
"Yeah yeah I only agreed because she promised to give me some sloppy," he says
"Ahhh c'mon dad" me and Colt say in disgust
"What?" Dad asks "ya moms not afraid to get dirty" he says as he grabs a handful of her ass
"Stop touching me, we're in public" mom slaps his hand aside
"Ugh yeah c'mon not here dad" I shake my head in embarrassment
"Hehe" dad giggles before he stops
He sniffs the air for a second before I hear someone step up beside me
"Hello Lisa how have you been?" I hear Reiner ask mom using her alias
"Wonderful, how about yourself?" Mom asks
"Is this your husband?" He asks "I've never had the chance to meet you sir, how have you been?" He offers to shake dads hand
No
This can't be good…
If Reiner recognizes him now everything will go to hell
"Heh" dad smiles "yeah" he finally says as he pulls his arm out from his cloak
It was so scarred and ridiculously veiny for someone of his athletic body type
He had little to no body fat you could see the outline of his muscle fibers moving around with every little movement
"Yes I believe it's the first time we've ever met" their hands finally meet
I never thought a simple handshake would be so terrifying
The tension was unreal
We all felt it Colt and Mom looked just as terrified
If dad says or does one thing that alerts Reiner were all done
"Yes I've heard you're a very hard working man," Reiner says
"Sure I guess you can say that, I did just open my very own shop" dad says
"Ah yes I believe your son here told me all about it" Reiner pats my back "hey, would you like to have dinner at my place? I'd be nice to get to know you better" he says
"I very much appreciate the offer, Reiner, but we're alright" dad says "it's a bit late, even so I'd like to open the shop up for a couple of hours"
"Well I assume you'll be helping your husband as well?" He asks mom
"Yeah we're just starting out so I should stick by his side" she says
"I completely understand, Falco, Colt, if you two aren't busy it'd be nice to have the two of you over" Reiner says
"Oh and speaking of Falco, I've heard wonders on the way here" he saya
"Did you now?" Dad asks
"Sure did, word says he won us this war" Reiner says
"Really now? Beautifully done Falco, of course I'd expect no less from My son" Dad pats my back
"And I'm sure you've heard Colt will soon inherit the Beast Titan from Zeke" Reiner says "and Falco here is on that very path to inherit my Armored Titan" he adds
"Really? that so good to hear" dad says
"Indeed you've raised your children into wonderful warriors" Reiner says
"Hah of course don't expect any less from the Grice family" dad chuckles
Reiners smile fades away after dad tightened his grip on his hand and it was as if he had just noticed how badly dads arm was scarred
"Alright then you have a nice day mister Grice" Reiner says
"Yes you as well mister Braun" dad says before finally letting go of his hand
"Good day to you as well" Reiner nods at mom before going off
We wait for dad to say something but he just stood there giving Reiners back a menacing glare, one I know I'd be petrified if he gave to me
