Chapter 5: Hunting Season (Part 1)
All of us have plans in our lives. Sometimes we have our entire agenda planned with different activities and commitments. However, an unfortunate event is capable of altering our plans and putting us in unpleasant situations. Unfortunately, this is going to be one hell of a horrible experience for our leading lady.
Our story takes us to a dark but quiet morning in the town of BubbleTucky. There were winds that indicated that it would be a cold day, but the probability of a storm was not high. Despite the weather, it was a nice day. Our beloved pink haired guppy was preparing some things before leaving in her red car. She was talking on her cell phone.
"...Yes Deema, I'm almost ready to go see my wedding dress" Molly said "Why do I have to go to CoralReefy? The journey is quite long"
"Believe me, dear...That place I'm telling you makes good bridal gowns. Are you sure you don't want me to go with you? Or that the girls go with you?" Deema asked on the other side of the phone.
"Do not worry. You can go further with the preparations. The more time we save, the better" The pink-haired guppy answered.
"At least take Mia with you" Deema advised.
"She's with Dylan right now. And even if she was here I doubt she would want to go with me" Molly decided to enter her car.
"Ohhh I see that our siblings have something, huh?" Deema commented funnily. But she changed her tone of voice when she understood the other sentence "Wait….Why do you say that about your sister?"
"Mia has been acting weird ever since we announced the wedding. I don't know, whenever I want to talk about that subject with her, she always changes the subject or avoids it" Molly commented about her concern.
"It's very strange. She has never minded that you and Gil were together" The blonde guppy told her.
"Yes, I'm not sure. Look, I'm already driving and I better hang up to avoid an accident. I'll call you later, Deema. See you" Without saying more, she decided to end the call and decided to start driving directly towards her destination: CoralReefy City.
The trip would be a bit long, so Molly wasted no more time and decided to drive straight to her destination. During the tour, the leading guppy noticed how the environment changed. As she was going down the road, she noticed that she was passing through misty mountains and the weather was getting stormier. There was thunder and lightning but there was no rain. The road was very quiet and the road was a little empty. Not many cars were passing. After a few long minutes, a loud deafening sound was heard.
BOOM!
"Ahhhhhh!" Molly screamed in terror when she noticed that one of the tires had exploded and she began to lose control of the vehicle. She, using her driving skills, managed to pull over to the edge of the road to brake. It was a risky maneuver because it was possible that the car could overturn. Thanks to the maneuver, she managed to stop the car in time on the side of the highway. She was breathing fast and hard with adrenaline and fright. It took her a few minutes to recover and get out of the vehicle calmly "Oh…Oh….That was close. It just can't be. How my tire blew out. Surely there was some nail or screw in the way and it punctured my tire. hmmmm" The first thing she thought of was checking the trunk of the car for an extra tire. However, she had a bad surprise "Oh no! Agh! I forgot to buy an extra tire! Alright, I'll make a call" She tried to make a call, but unfortunately, there was no signal in the area where she was "Great…just great" She said a little annoyed. But despite the situation, she wanted to stay calm. Like she usually does. She was hoping that someone was passing by on the road and would give her a hand. Fortunately, her wishes came true. It didn't take long for a county police car to show up. The car pulled up behind Molly's car and a lobster man in a sheriff's uniform got out. He decided to approach the guppy calmly.
"Good morning, lady. Do you need help?" He asked kindly.
"Oh yeah, officer! My tire blew out and I don't have spare tires. And here I have no signal to call someone" Molly explained her problem.
"I understand. Don't worry, I think I have an extra tire on my car. You can accompany me to help me carry the tire and the tools that I will need to install" The sheriff said.
"Oh, Thank you very much, officer" The pink-haired guppy answered with a sincere smile. They both decided to go together to the trunk of the police car. The officer opened it up and took out a tool. Molly focused more on the contents of the trunk "Huh?! Hey I think you don't have an extra tire"
"Hehehe….Sleep well, Miss Gentilella"
"HUH?!"
WHACK!
Time passed and things were getting very tense and worrying. While these things were happening, we saw one of our guppies in his office. Gil Gordon was doing the daily reports with his mentor Officer Miranda. It was a normal day at the office for them, but one phone call would change things horribly.
RINGG! RINGG!
"Huh? Who is calling me on my personal phone? If it was an emergency call, they would call 9-1-1….Hmmmm….I will answer quickly" Gil decided to take his cell phone to answer the call. His original intention was simply to ask who he was, what he wanted and to tell him to call him later because it was business hours. But things got out of hand "Uh…Hello?"
"GGGIILLL!"
"Whoah! Deema! Why are you calling me? Do you know what I'm working on?" He asked surprisedly.
"Me too! But that is not the point! Did Molly call you by any chance?" Deema's tone of voice showed anguish and great concern.
"Hmm no. I haven't talked to her today. Why do you ask? What 's going on?" Gil started to suspect that something is going wrong.
"This is serious! HOURS have passed and she should be back by now! Listen, she's been going to CoralReefy since morning and it's too late. She should have been back hours ago. She and I agreed that when she arrived and came home she would call me. AND SHE HAVEN'T CALLED ME!" Deema explained all of this with a scared tone of voice.
"C..C..Calm down, Dee..Deema! Surely your cell phone ran out of battery. But...Hmmmm...I'll see what I can do here. Better safe than sorry" Gil said that before ending the call. He started to worry. Obviously, that was not normal for Molly. Without wasting any more time, he decided to tell his colleague the situation "Miranda, I need us to do an inspection of the road that connects Big BubbleCity to CoralReefy. I have a bad feeling that something bad might have happened to Molly" Gil told his mentor with certainty.
"I understand Gil. I will contact the traffic officers closest to the highway. Give me the license plate number of Molly's vehicle and we'll start the search" Miranda didn't think long before getting down to business and began making calls and reports on her computer to start a possible search for a missing person.
Gil and Miranda began the investigation without hesitation. They managed to contact the traffic officers closest to the highway to start the search. In addition, they contacted the CoralReefy Police Department to be vigilant in case Molly was in the neighboring city. The first place both officers went to investigate was Molly's house. Where they found Miriam and Robert, her parents. Mia was also at home when they arrived.
"Are you sure that is all you know?" Gil asked seriously. Although they were his girlfriend's family, he was there with his police officer profile.
"Of course! She told us that she was going to CoralReefy to see some unique wedding dresses for herself" Miriam answered. Gil was silent. He knew that she was preparing for her special day with him. This case was really starting to feel very personal. Miranda, noticing this, decided to help him and advance herself.
"Very good. Do you know someone who would like to hurt Molly?" Miranda asked the protocol questions. The couple looked in silence for a few seconds.
"Well…..I don't believe it. The only person who wanted to hurt Molly is in prison. And you know it" Robert answered seriously. We all know who he was referring to.
"(J…J…Jane. Is she behind this? No, it is not possible. She is in prison. She is finished! I know! I made sure of that! I'M SURE!)" Gil thought all this while trying to remain calm and firm as a police officer should act. Despite that, the others noticed his tension.
"No! My SIS! Not again! Forgive me! I should have gone with her! I could have prevented her disappearance!" Mia was about to cry. She felt guilty for not having accompanied her on her trip.
"It's not your fault. Don't be hard on yourself. Possibly you would have disappeared with her. We will do everything possible to find her safe and sound" Miranda comforted Mia. Gil could only stand firm in the face of the sadness that his girlfriend's family was suffering. Obviously, he was also sad. But he had to do his duty. At that same moment, Miranda received a phone call. She didn't last long answering the call, but for everyone present that call lasted forever. She ended the call and looked directly at her partner. Something was wrong.
"What's going on Miranda?" Gil asked worriedly. The lobster woman kept silent and with a very serious face.
"Mr. and Mrs. Gentilella….Mia….Gil…..They just found Molly's car...but no sign of her. The theory of a robbery was ruled out, because her cell phone, wallet and her personal documents were found in her vehicle ... The agents continue with the search" Miranda explained the new news. Miriam began to cry and her husband hugged her tightly in silence. Mia tried hard not to cry, but it was useless. Gil was trying to hold his own. He knows that if he wants to find the love of his life, he must act soon. He clenched his fists and decided to prepare his weapon to prevent it from failing at the moment of truth.
"Miranda….Let's go...we have work to do" Gil said seriously and with determination. Miranda simply nodded her head and decided to go with him "(Hold on, Molly. We will go for you!)"
"UGGGHHHH! HMMMMMM!"
Molly's eyes slowly opened. Everything looked blurry and confusing. She felt slightly dizzy because everything was moving for her. Little by little, she began to stabilize. The dizziness was gone and she finally managed to identify where she was at. Looks like she was trapped in the garage of an old log cabin. Before she could move, she discovered that her hands were tied and she couldn't move.
"Hmmm Hmmmm Ugh! Where the hell am I? What is this?" Molly asked herself.
"My my... I see my new prey just woke up Hehehe... I think you deserve a proper welcome" An unknown voice said. It was a strong and terrifying male voice.
"Wh…Wh..Who are you?" She asked a little scared. At that moment, her subject appeared in front of her, it was the same sheriff who had "assisted" her hours before. She gasped when she saw him "Y..Y..You, officer?"
"Hehehe….Officer? Bah? It was just a performance. I must introduce myself properly" He decided to remove his sheriff's uniform to reveal a hunter's uniform with a large black trench coat. In addition to that he took out a hunting knife and began to play with it in an intimidating way "Regards, Molly Gentilella. You can call me "Blake", the hunter. And you, my dear, were chosen for my personal amusement" The lobster man said with a sadistic smile.
"Wait...Blake...That name...sounds familiar...Oh...OH NO! You are... You are the... SERIAL KILLER, Blake!" Molly panicked loudly. She was able to remember that name from various reports of a sadistic serial killer who prowled in remote areas.
"I see I'm very famous, huh? I feel flattered, and more coming from a beautiful celebrity like you. It's an honor, Molly Gentilella. Two celebrities face to face" He said with a "kind" smile.
"What do you want of me?!" The pink-haired guppy asked worriedly.
"Please, Gentilella. What a stupid question. I'm a serial killer, what else do I want to do to you? It's obvious that I want to end your life. There's not much science to this, honey" Blake said while he was playing with his knife.
"B…B..But…W…Why? Why do you want to kill me?" She was getting scared a lot.
"Hmmm, another stupid question. If you ask a third stupid question, I'll kill you. But hey, I'm a gentleman, so I'll answer the question. Why do I want to kill you? Simple...It's fun! I enjoy murder. I know, your "good girl" mentality fails to understand my distorted mind" Blake commented with his evil tone of voice.
"If you really want me dead, why haven't you killed me yet?" Molly tried to calm herself down.
"Hmmmm actually….That third question wasn't stupid. I see that you are not only beautiful, but also smart. You see, my dear, killing yourself quickly or torturing yourself is not my style. I find it a bit boring and predictable. Listen, unlike other serial killers, I'm a bit more "benevolent" if you will" Blake said with a quiet tone of voice.
"Of course, benevolent" Molly said sarcastically "I don't understand"
"You see, unlike other assassins, I am a fairer person. I give my victims a chance to save their lives. And you are not the exception. This is my proposal. I'll let you out of this place and well...you can try to get out of this forest" The killer said with a convincing tone of voice.
"What is the catch? It can't be that easy" Molly wasn´t convinced.
"You don't miss anything, huh? Well, see this as a deadly game. You try to escape from the forest and you will be able to return home. Instead I, well hehehe, I'll be following your steps. I will find you and I will finish you. Like a hunter and his prey. Trust me, this is more fun to me than just executing you here" He explained his macabre plan. Molly was thinking about it.
"I guess there is no other option. (sigh) Okay, I'm going to play along" She accepted this wicked proposal.
"Perfect. After all, it's the only thing you can do now" Blake smirked at her.
"I'm going to make this clear to you. I don't plan to die today. I will get my freedom and you will pay for this. I will not die because many people I love are waiting for me. And for them, and for me, I won't let you win" Molly decided to show him a serious and confident look. She wanted to stay determined, despite the terror she feels.
"Hmmmm…..I see you have determination...I hope that determination will be what gets you out of this alive...Alright...Game starts now...and don't think anything stupid" He decided to use the knife to cut through Molly's restraints. And before she could do anything to him, Molly decided to use her fighting skills that she learned from Oona to throw his knife away from her attacker and kick him hard in the stomach "GRAAAAH!"
Leaving the assassin weakened, she decided to quickly find her way out of the cabin. Which wasn't too hard because the door was open. When Molly left the cabin, her fear came true. She was in the middle of the forest. Without any sign of civilization. And for a change, she realized that she didn't have her cell phone. Without much thought, she decided to run into the forest without rest. Nobody knew when he was going to recover from the blow. Unfortunately, a few minutes later, Blake came out of the cabin.
"Hmmmm The girl is good, just as Jane warned me. Very good. Prepare for the hunt, Molly Gentilella!" He said that while loading and preparing his hunting rifle. His macabre game had begun.
"AAAAAGHHHHH"
That scream was coming from an office in the BubbleTucky Police Department. He was Gil and he was working overtime while he had the papers in the case of his fiancée's disappearance. There were papers, documents, reports and electronic devices scattered all over the huge desk. He was poring over the evidence and couldn't come up with anything. That's why his stress and despair level was high.
"Gil, calm down. You have been non-stop for more than 12 hours. You have literally been working outside of your business hours. Don't think I'm going to pay you overtime" Chief Anderson commented.
"I don't give a damn if you're going to pay me or not! I just want to find her NOW! I don't care if it will take hours, days, weeks, months! I will find her! I went through something similar years ago. I won't let it happen again!" Gil said in a stressed and frustrating way. Anderson was very surprised to see Gil's reaction. He decided to remain silent for a few seconds until he simply turned his back on him and thought to leave.
"Officer Gordon…..Someone wants to see you now. I hope you do well. I'll investigate what I can" Anderson slowly withdrew. Gil didn't understand anything until he noticed a plastic cup with a lid containing freshly brewed hot coffee. So he noticed that he was not alone in that room.
"Hey, dude…..I know you need it"
"Huh?!" Gil recognized that voice. His best friend Goby was next to him and was the person who gave him the cup of coffee. Before he could say anything, he realized that he wasn't the only surprise visitor. There were more people in that place. Both Deema, Oona, Nonny, Zooli and Urchin had arrived with Goby "W..W..What are you doing here?" Gil asked confusedly.
"We've come to help you find Molly" Goby said confidently.
"We've done it before, and we'll do it again" Oona added.
"But...this is my responsibility. It's my job...and she's my fiancée...It's my duty to save her" Gil said tiredly.
"She is also our friend! OUR best friend!" Zooli intervened.
"Don't think we're going to sit idly by knowing that Molly might be in danger" Deema said with her hands on her hips.
"Guys... Please...I don't want you guys involved...I don't want to put you at risk" Gil said closing his eyes.
"That didn't stop us last time. If they mess with one of us, they mess with all of us" Nonny said seriously.
"Gil...Let us help. For Molly" Urchin told him with a calm tone. Gil knew he couldn't do it alone. Also, the guppies were able to find Molly last time thanks to teamwork. The young policeman simply closed his eyes, looked down, and a few tears fell from his eyes.
"(snif) Th…Th..Thanks…Guys (snif)" Gil was tired of keeping those feelings to himself. Deema decided to comfort him while she let him take out what he had in store. He decided to sit down to rest and drank the coffee that Goby gave him to regain strength. Without giving it much thought, Nonny and Urchin took control of the computers to begin the investigation. Goby, Deema, Oona and Zooli began to sort and study the papers and case reports to find clues. The blue haired boy watched as his friends tried hard to help in the investigation. There was never such loyalty as theirs. That made Gil smile and a small feeling of hope filled his heart. He simply took one last sip of coffee and decided to join the investigation "(Let's find you, Molly. Whatever it takes!)"
We return to the sinister forest, where Molly was fleeing for her life. She was looking for the best route to find someone or some sign of civilization. She knew that she couldn't be careless, because she knew that the serial killer Blake was lurking in the woods. She was more worried about him than some other wild creature. Luckily, Molly knew certain survival techniques in the forest thanks to the times that she has camped with the guppies. She knew that she was in a more dangerous situation than expected. Because she managed to hear a few shots from Blake. Possibly they were shots in the air to scare her. Something he was accomplishing, but she Molly wasn't losing focus. The moment that happened, she would die. While she was walking through the forest, something strange happened. She was walking until she felt someone catch her from behind her. With one hand, a subject caught her by her waist and with the other hand covered her mouth so she wouldn't make noise.
"Huh?! What the…?!" Molly asked before she noticed who was the person.
"Shhh!" It was a lobster woman in old and torn clothing with short brown hair. The most characteristic thing about her is that she had a bandana that covered her left eye. The bandana was the same color as her clothing. She gestured for her to be quiet. Molly complied, although she was confused. The new mystery woman picked up a thick branch and tossed it towards the ground where Molly was going to pass. And the surprise was that the branch was torn apart by a terrible bear trap "That could happen to your tail if you kept walking like that" Molly gulped.
"Who are you?" The guppy asked her.
"Oh! My manners. Sorry for scaring you like that. My name is Delilah. And you? Who are you and what are you doing here" The lobster woman asked-
"I´m Molly….And….I'm not here because I want to. I'm here because a psycho is after me" Molly told her.
":...Blake….isn´t him?" She asked seriously.
"You…know him?" The pink-haired girl asked surprisedly.
"Hmmmm It could be said that I am his "last prey". I have managed to survive a few days. But unfortunately, I haven't been able to escape from this forest yet" Delilah said quietly.
"Why?" Molly asked.
"Blake is a cheater. According to him, he is a murderer who gives his victims a chance to survive. But what he never says is that the forest is full of deadly traps. So the victims trust and end up dying. Either because Blake kills them with his bare hands, or they just fall into his death traps. Like the one you were about to fall for" The other woman explained.
"I always assumed he was hiding something. But, I don't get it. Why is he doing this? If he's a murderer, why doesn't he kill his victims quickly when he can?" Molly asked.
"Hmmm He enjoys feeling superior. And he shows it by playing with his victims. Like a cat he plays with the mouse. Like a lion playing with a poor gazelle. This is how he treats us. Unfortunately, I have not met any other victims. I have found bodies buried in this forest. It's the first time I've seen another victim alive" Delilah explained his modus operandi.
"Mmmm but...now we have an advantage. Now we are two against one. We can stop him" Molly said with her hopes up.
"I wouldn't have such high hopes if I were you. He is heavily armed. And I'm not surprised that he hides more aces up his sleeve" The lobster woman told her.
"You're right about that. But still we must work together. I know we can get out of this. You have knowledge of cheating. That will be an advantage. Please, we must get out of this alive. I have family, friends and a person I love... They are all waiting for me. And I know there are people who are waiting for you. Come on, together we can get out of this" Molly convinced her to work together. Delilah was quiet while she analyzed her proposal.
"Hmmm (sigh) Very good, Molly. Anyway, I have nothing more to lose" She agreed with her idea.
In this way, both decided to collaborate together in order to get out of this terrifying experience alive. How will they get out of this? Will they survive the deadly traps? Can Gil and the other guppies find Molly's whereabouts before it's too late? Will Blake achieve his goal of killing Molly? These questions will keep us restless for a while. For now, the hunt is on.
Uh oh, the killer has started his twisted plan to murder our beloved guppy. There are many things at stake in this chapter. Like Molly's future with Gil. Will Jane achieve her mission?
There is not much more to comment. Just don't forget to leave your reviews to know your opinions. For now I will respond to the reviews of the previous chapter.
mermaidf: Hi there, friend! Obviously, the previous episode was made with a lot of love, full of references to the original show. It evidently couldn't take the newer seasons into account due to Zooli's presence. Due to BGTY's circumstances, there would have been a lot of script inconsistencies. But I'm glad you liked it. And…oh yeah…Jane did. I hope that this time, her plans fail once again.
SuperSonichero18: Hello! Thank you very much for your good wishes. Luckily I feel better. And indeed, something bad is happening and let's hope the guppies can handle this.
PrimroseRaspberry: Hi there! I'm glad my words reached you. You don't really know what you have until you lose it. It makes me happy knowing that you liked the previous chapter. Full of references and nostalgia. The development of Zooli and Urchin in the previous chapter was very good and it's great to see the 6 guppies remember their past so fondly and in the case of Zooli and Urchin, to know the past of their friends. Sadly, Jane's plan is in motion and we'll see how this intense arc ends.
ReaderandWriter9000 say goodbye and we'll see each other in another more intense chapter. Be ready.
