Ch. 85 Battle of Harbor
Pov.
-Falco-
"What do you mean, Annie?" Gabi asks as the two soldiers put on their clothes
"Thirteen years ago she used this hardening to protect herself from Odin, the kings old companion" the girl says
"How did you manage to smoothen it out so nicely?" I run my fingers across the surface
This hardening is supposed to be unbreakable
"Well at first they used diamond tipped tools to chip away, after that they started using the hardening itself to finish the job" the guy says
"I see…" I examine the fine edges they managed to carve out just perfectly
I guess that makes sense
"You," I point at the girl, "why did you refer to my father as 'the King?" I ask "aren't you yeagarist?"
"Y-your father?" Her eyes widened "are you Colt? Colt Reiss?" She asks
"N-no, that is my elder brother. I am Falco Braus, son of Sasha Braus" I say
"Sasha?" She looks at the guy
"Do you know her?" I ask
"Well.. she used to come by the castle all the time to teach Colt to use the bow and arrow" he says
"Yeah, we used to be very good friends until… well your dad took her Marley" she sighs
"Look we have a family, the only reason we joined the yeagarist is because everyone we knew did so" the girl says
"Y-yeah, we were only trying to protect them" the guy agrees
I look up at Gabi
She looked as convinced as I was
There might be even more yeagarists that are too afraid to fight back
"Fine, what are your names?" I ask
"Oh thank God," the girl sighs "I'm Hitch" she says
"And I'm Marlowe" the guy says "thirteen years ago your father kept me from going to Shiganshina, I hope I can one day thank him for that" he says
"Right…" I look at Gabi
She gives me a little nod
"We have to get into Shiganshina undetected. You try anything silly and we'll blow your brains out, okay?" I ask
"Y-yeah" they both nod
"Alright, let's get going"
They hand us an extra pair of their uniforms and we managed to sneak into Shiganshina a lot smoothly than I thought we would
Every man and woman capable and willing to fight were getting ready for battle
Just as I thought
That means they stopped sending titans from Holst and now they are ready to launch an attack
They could've easily kept sending titans and hoped one of them devours dad, but from the looks of it they want him alive
And since he can't transform they know they can easily outnumber them
Shiganshina is a lot closer to the shore than Holst and the Underground Bunker
So it'll take them only about six hours to reach the shore on horseback
If father left with the Queen on their own like I told them to, they'll be long gone by now
"What is it, Falco?" Gabi asks
"We have to get this message out as fast as we can" I look at Marlowe
"Right," he nods before leading the way

-Kara-
-6 hours later-
"Heh.. heh… hahhh" I lay back after having dealt with the last Titan
Man, it's been a long while since I've used ODM gear
"That was the last of that" Levi huffs
"Yeah…" I sigh
Eren.. how could he do that to our people
"Let's hope whatever you did to their power is permanent" Levi says
Yeah, if they could transform already there's no doubt they would've came here themselves
"Alright, let's leave this island before things get out of hand" I say
I don't wanna be forced to kill my own people, not again
"Right.." Levi sighs
"Where's Historia?" I ask
"We got word that they managed to capture the harbor, but Cyrus' fleet is still out of sight " Mikasa says
"Everyone's just waiting on us" Connie says
"Right, let's not keep them…" I stop after hearing someone blow a horn
We all look around till we spot the people on the wall waving at us
I raise my hand ready to wave back to let them know we were alright, when I saw them jumping and shouting
"What the hell are they doing?" I ask Levi
"These idiots," he sighs
I felt a chills go down my spine suddenly
"What is it, Kara?" Mikasa asks
Wait…
I turn back around towards the direction the titans came from
The Titan steam was covering our line of sight
But I swear I can hear horses from that direction
"What is it?" Levi asks
"What's gotten into them?" Jean asks as he hears them shouting
Only.. we were way too far to hear them
Levi and I watch as the steam finally began clearing out…

"This…" Levi steps back "can't be happening"
"What?" Connie asks
It was an army, easily fifteen-thousand soldiers riding on horseback
"It's no wonder the titans stopped coming" Jean says
"Let's be grateful they want you alive, Kara" Levi says
"You can thank me after we win this war, for now let's fall back to the harbor and send Historia out before it's too late" I hop onto my horse
"Right, c'mon you guys" Levi gets everyone up
We ride back to the wall where we found Hange getting the troops ready for battle
"We caught them off guard so we only had sixty-three casualties, forty six dead and the rest are in critical condition" Hange follows behind as I head over to ship Historia was on
"And what are rhey still doing here?" I ask seeing the streets filled with soldiers they took captive
She doesn't answer
I stop after not hearing an answer
I turn around to face her
"I told you to take everyone out, Hange"
"I-I know but everyone surrendered the moment our troops flooded the streets"
"That doesn't matter, we need every man on the battlefield. We can not afford to babysit all these prisoners."
"If they chose not to fight we don't have the right to take their lives anymore"
"Are you getting soft on me Hange? Now, of all times?"
"We can't murder all these people, it's a war crime"
…
I take the pistol she had in her holster and I set the barrel on a soldiers head before blasting a hole through his skull without a second thought
"Kara?!" She gasps
"A war crime, huh? What? You think Eren is playing fair by turning my people into monsters?" I ask
She doesn't respond
"I want every women and child chained on the ship, kill every man who refuses to swear their loyalty to me and send those that do to the front lines" I shove her gun into her chest
…
"This is low. Even for you, Kara" she says after I turn my back
"We're at war, Hange. It's not supposed to be pretty"
I head over to the docks where I found Historia arguing with Cyrus after she refuses to stay on the ship
"No, let me help!" She puts her foot down
"Hey, what are you doing?" I ask
"Hmph* I'm tired of just sitting around" she pouts
"Welp that was the last of'm" Jack walks down the plank with Pedro right behind him
"Are you ready to go or what boss?" Pedro asks
"Yeah, c'mon Kara let me show you my room" Historia grabs my hand
"I'm not coming" I pull my arm back
"Wh-what?" Historia asks
"Shiganshina.. They sent a battalion to retrieve us"
"Then I'm staying with you" Historia wraps her arms around me
"Don't worry we'll be right behind you" I pat her head
"Really?" She asks
"Yeah, once we finish loading everything up we'll be on our way"
"Hmm.." she frowns "fine," she sighs "but don't take long"
"I won't. Now get ready, you'll be leaving soon" I nod at Jack
"C'mon m'lady we're just waiting on you" Jack says
"Hange is going to board some prisoners, get going once everyone is on" I pull Historia back
"Okay" she nods before joining Jack on the ship
"I'll stay behind, she'll do just fine with Jack" Cyrus says
"No, this is our fight. The four of you should get to safety, we'll hold them off until your fleet arrives"
"We won't be able to cover the entire city so once they get past us they're going to take the other ship and follow right after the Queen" I add
"You're like a brother to me, Kara. I won't stand by and watch you fight a one sided battle"
"And as a brother, I ask that you protect her with your life." we both looked up at Historia who was now arguing with Jack "She's all I have left.."
…
"Fine, but you come back to us alive" he holds his hand out
"Of course, I don't plan on going just yet." We shake hands
"I'll hold you to it"
After saying our goodbyes he joins everyone on the ship
"Sir what do we do with the other ship?" A soldier asks
"I want any weapon and ammunition off the ship and brought over to the wall, then I want you to blow a hole through the keel"
"Yessir" he salutes before doing as he's told
-24 hours later-
A day went by and the sun was just about to set
They managed to get as close as 70 meters from the wall
There's so many of them that they spread out as far as 2 by miles
Still we managed to pick out a couple hundred of them
They were using the sand dunes for cover so we haven't seen them for a while now they haven't made any moves
"We're going to get annihilated" I hear Levi beside me
"We'll be just fine," I sharpen my blade
"It's only a matter of time till.." Connie stops after we hear an explosion outside
We all get up before everyone on the wall began firing their rifles at the same time
Over and over again
"They're coming" Mikasa says
Hange almost kicks the door down
"It's time" she says
I nod, quickly following behind as she lead us to the gate
It's the final stretch and they decided to just charge strait towards the gate
I look over at Mikasa
"Stay beside me" I say
She nods
There was a couple seconds of silence before the gate finally explodes
"This can't be real" Jean says under his breath
"This.. is as real as it gets" I lean forward
"You should stay right b-" Hange says
I charge straight for the enemy
"Damn it Kara!" She shouts
As I get closer I could hear my men shouting out as they charged into battle right behind me
"Alright," I smile widely
My excitement was growing by the second
Just like every other time I've charged blindly into a battle
"Yesss, let us have some fun, shall we?"
I swear I hear a voice, maybe in the back of my mind just as I launch myself two meters into the air straight towards the very first soldier leading the attack
I slam my feet onto his chest completely obliterating every bone in his ribcage as I knocked him off his horse
I toss my sword at the next guys face before landing right beside his dead corpse just as both of our front lines slammed into each other
Some chump hops off his horse and charges at me
I raise my blade slicing his body in half before he'd get too close
His body splits in two halves, each of which fall to my sides
The next guy back off as he fumbled to get the bullets into the chamber of his puny little toy and I dig both my blades into his abdomen
He drops his weapon from the agonizing pain and I raise him off the ground
His blood pours onto my face before I quickly turn around after hearing someone else cock their pistol
I use his body as a shield till he realizes he was shooting his buddy
I kick the pitiful creature off my swords and the other guy catches his body before I slice both their heads off
I turn around after hearing some idiot screaming at the top of his lungs as he charged at me and I pierce my blade through his chest
I slam my foot on his stomach, freeing my blade as another horde of them rush me
I mowed them down, tearing everyone who stood in my way to pieces with every strike
