Chapter 29: The Ballad of Flowers and Lovers (Part 1)

Love returns for a very important event. Two people who have known each other for years are going to unite for the rest of their lives. By people with sweet personalities. The adorable girl next to the reserved boy. From when they met in kindergarten until their reunion in high school. From an adorable friendship was born a very calm romantic relationship with its ups and downs. Both faced problems together and they were a good example of how a relationship should be: With love, trust and respect. That's right, we are talking about Oona Shaskan and Nonny Pirruccello. After a long time planning and preparing, the day of their legal union has arrived. The day of the ceremony was very close and I think it is ideal to know some things that happened before the ceremony.

Oona's Part

As for the bride, the preparations were very delicate for her. She was the woman who had to stand out at her own celebration. Therefore, she needed help from her closest loved ones. Well, it seems that this couple planned something different from previous weddings. To understand all this, we will look at the Shaskan residence, where many girls and some relatives were there.

"Hey Oona, not to judge but...Why are you trying these dresses and...traditional clothing?" Zooli asked confusedly.

"I thought you already knew. Nonny and I agreed to have a traditional Japanese wedding. Although it will actually be a bit of both Eastern and Western traditions" Oona said while the girls are helping her with her white kimono and her hairstyle.

"I'm still surprised that Nonny agreed to do a tradition very different from the one he knows" Molly said happily. She was painting his nails and doing a manicure.

"That's what I love about him. He's so understanding with me" Oona said with a loving tone.

"Agh! What's wrong with me?! I'm good with hairstyles, but this kind of traditional hair...Ugh! I can't!" Deema was frustrated that she couldn't style her friend's hair.

"I can give you a hand, Deema" Ino, Oona's half-sister, was there. She approached her younger sister and started brushing her hair and using the necessary accessories to change her hairstyle to a more traditional one for the wedding.

"Thanks, sis" Oona said happily. Finally, she modeled her wedding attire. An elegant white kimono with a very striking hair arrangement.

"Wow!" Molly, Deema and Zooli were amazed.

"My dear….snif….you're so beautiful!" Himani, her mother, said with some tears.

"You are as beautiful as the cherry blossom in spring" Toki, Himani's brother and Oona's Uncle said with pride.

"Thank you very much, it is thanks to all of you that everything is going well" Oona thanked them.

"I...I...I promised myself I wouldn't cry. I never thought the day would come when I'd have to see you go with another man" Ichiro said, trying to hide his feelings.

"(chuckle) I think you're exaggerating a bit. I trust that Nonny is the ideal guy" The younger girl replied with confidence.

"I think so. But don't forget: If he does anything to you, I'm going to…" Ichiro commented before Ino interrupted him.

"Come on, brother. Don't be hasty. We're talking about Nonny, he's a reliable guy. Besides, Oona can defend herself too. They'll be fine" Ino said confidently.

"My little girl has definitely grown up a lot! You are such a great professional and now you are getting married! Oh, the ceremony is tomorrow and I am already crying!" Oona's mother said with tears in her eyes. Deema handed her a napkin to wipe her nose.

"It's part of growing up. Although there are things I still haven't changed" Oona said with a smile.

"And please don't change, dear!" Deema added happily. A couple arrived to supervise the bride's preparations.

"Okay. Looks like we have confirmation from all the guests. The grandparents, cousins, and uncles confirmed they arrived at the airport and are already here ready for tomorrow. Sharon and Avi will arrive early tomorrow. The venue is booked with all payments up to date, decorations ready. The lawyer is already hired. Looks like everything is ready for tomorrow. I'm just surprised that your guest list is small" Charlize explained all the prepared logistics.

"Nonny and I agreed to invite a few people. Only the most important people to us. A wedding like this is very expensive. Besides, we want to have a comfortable wedding and not attract too much attention" Oona explained.

"And Nonny is doing well with his preparations. That's what the boys have told me" Mr. Grouper said with a smile.

"Owww….I really want to see him" Oona said with a lovely tone of voice.

"But it won't be until tomorrow, my friend! We don't want to ruin the surprise, do you think?" Zooli commented.

"I guess you have a point" Oona answered.

"Come on...It's only until tomorrow and then...together forever" Molly added.

"Well, if I could wait for him for years, I think I can wait for him for a few more hours" Oona remembered the time both of them had to separate for life circumstances and how they met again many times.

"Very well. It seems that the traditional kimono suits you well. I think you can try on the wedding dress for the party. According to your plans, you two want to do some combination of an Eastern and Western wedding" Mrs. Grouper asked her.

"That's right. We can try on the dress" Oona said happily. Several minutes passed before she could try on the wedding dress that she would wear to the party after the ceremony. Since that was a new tradition. After many fittings, Oona showed her wedding dress to those present to try on and adjust details. At one point, she asked to speak alone with Mr. Grouper. It seems that there was an important matter to discuss.

"Okay, Oona. Is something wrong? Is it something about the wedding?" Mr. Grouper asked her.

"Something like that. The wedding is tomorrow...Wow, time goes by fast. But...(sigh) Can I ask you something important, Mr. Grouper?" Oona asked with a low tone of voice.

"Of course, Oona. Whatever you need" Mr. Grouper said.

"Well, everything is ready for the wedding...But something very important is missing. You know what...my father was never there for me...He didn't even know I existed until I went to Japan years ago. So, something very important is missing...Mr. Grouper...do you want to be my "dad" for my wedding with Nonny?" Oona asked quietly. He was very surprised.

"R-R-Really? I mean…..I thought you would ask your brother Ichiro or your uncle Toki for that" Mr. Grouper didn't know how to answer it.

"Maybe you're right. But you're the closest thing I have to a dad. Because you always cared about me and my friends. I feel like you're the perfect one for this. I want you to be the one to walk me down the aisle with Nonny. I want you to be the one to give me away to my future husband... What do you think?" Oona proposed it. Our old professor was surprised and very happy. He knew that he loved the guppies as his children, but he didn't think about how much he meant to them. He simply took the bride's hand and with his other hand he dried his own tears.

"It will be an honor...It will be an honor to be your father for your wedding" Mr. Grouper smiled at her. Oona couldn't contain her happiness and hugged him. That person who was not only her teacher, but her metaphorical father. She cried a little from happiness and he consoled her. It seems that she found the person she wanted to be her father at the ceremony.

Nonny's Part

At the Pirruccello residence, we met Nonny, his friends and his closest relatives. He was trying on his wedding suit for the event. In addition to trying on the suit, he also tried on a black kimono characteristic of grooms at Japanese weddings.

"Wow! I've never seen a Japanese costume like that. Only in anime" Gil commented while he was looking at Nonny's kimono.

"I'm surprised you decided to have a traditional Japanese wedding. It's not bad at all, but it's unusual around here" Goby asked curiously.

"Oona gave me the idea. And I thought it would be a good idea. I like that she is happy with her culture. We decided to have a mixed wedding. With a traditional Japanese ceremony...and then a Western style party. Mixing the best of both worlds" Nonny said before showing everyone her black kimono outfit.

"You look great. Oona will like it" Urchin told him.

"Just a different haircut and a sword and you look like an anime character... I say this as a compliment by the way" Gil commented funnily.

"We are so proud of you, son. You have truly become quite the man. First with your work and studies, and now you are going to marry the love of your life" Mr. Pirruccello said with a proud smile.

"We always knew you were special. We are lucky to have you as a son. Oona will be a very happy woman because of you" Mrs. Pirruccello added. Both of them hugged him.

"It is thanks to you that I am the man I am. Thank you for everything" Nonny thanked them sincerely.

"I'm proud of you too. Of everything you've accomplished and that you'll make Oona happy. Not all of us could have a loving man... So I hope you'll be that way with her" Nicole was there and Nonny accepted her hug.

"I will. I will strive to be the best husband for her...and probably even the best father for our future children" Nonny said quietly.

"Future children, huh? You're already planning it, huh?" Gil smirked mischievously.

"Ahem! Well….Not-so-soon….." Nonny said with his red face.

"Looks like everything is ready for tomorrow. Let's just try on a couple more outfits and meet up early tomorrow to get everything ready" Urchin intervened. Everyone agreed and proceeded to try on more outfits. Some time later, night came and Nonny was in his room, thinking alone about what was coming the next day. He knew that his life would take a different turn. Because now he had to think not only about himself, but also about her. Although he had already done that before, it was not the same living with that person. He knew that he had to give his best.

"Okay...Take a deep breath and rest...Tomorrow is my big day. Well, I admit I'm nervous...but both Gil and Goby have been through the same thing and they look happy. I trust I'll be happy with her" He was talking with himself with the purpose of calming himself.

"So the day has finally arrived. Well, enjoy it while you can. You deserve a little break before your misfortune"

"(sigh) You again? You can't just leave, whoever you are" Nonny asked them.

"You can't blame me. Your guilt is what keeps me alive"

"Oh...You're talking about that? They've already forgiven me. Forget about it" Nonny defended himself.

"I'm sorry to tell you that these are lies. It won't be long before they continue to criticize you. Or much worse, just as you took Goby's girlfriend away... Maybe he'll do the same with your future wife"

"Just….Just…Just shut up!" Nonny hit a wall very hard without thinking. This created a crack in the wall and the boy was agitated and sweaty. He looked at his sore hand and saw how his veins turned green. He began to breathe deeply and slowly and drank some water to relax. Finally, his veins returned to normal but it took longer than usual "Again...The voice...The strength...The aggression...The guilt...Hmmmmm where does it come from? I won't let that ruin my special day..."

The Next Day

The long-awaited day has finally arrived! Oona and Nonny are finally getting married in a traditional ceremony. The venue they chose was a Japanese-themed garden, where the highlight is a large Sakura tree behind the altar. Guests came to take their seats and to adjust the final details of the decoration. Among the guests we can see Oona's family, relatives from both sides of her family. Relatives from Nonny's adoptive family also showed up. Besides the relatives, not many people from both sides of the family were invited. The invited friends of the couple were the Bubble Guppies, Mr. and Mrs. Grouper, Avi and his fiancée Sharon. And a few friends from work from both sides. But most of them were family. We can see Nonny in his black kimono ready for the traditional wedding ceremony.

"I can't believe she's taking so long" Gil commented.

"You should be used to this. Women sometimes take longer than they should" Goby said calmly.

"Guys...Do you think she might have changed her mind and left me at the altar?" Nonny said nervously.

"Don't talk nonsense, man! She's just taking a little while" Gil tried to calm him.

"Please, we're talking about Oona. That's not her style. Besides, she's been waiting for this day longer than you think" Goby explained.

"The orchestra is ready to play. The bride is about to arrive" Urchin called them.

"How nervous" Nonny said quietly. Although he had his usual stoic expression, he was sweating a little and trying to maintain his posture.

"Everything will be fine, my friend. We are here" Gil showed his thumbs up.

"It's normal to feel this way. Just enjoy the moment" Goby advised him.

"(sigh) Here I go" Nonny finally presented himself to the lawyer. He bowed, as this lawyer specialized in performing traditional Japanese ceremonies. On Nonny's side were his adoptive parents and biological mother, Gil, Goby and Urchin. On the bride's side were her mother, Ichiro, Ino, Molly, Deema, Zooli, Mrs. Grouper, Avi and Sharon. Both groups noticed Mr. Grouper's absence and the bride was missing. However, the entrance doors opened, revealing both of them.

"I must admit that I still feel nervous" Oona confessed to her mentor.

"Don't worry. Look, there he is. Let's not keep him waiting too long, okay?" Mr. Grouper giggled a bit.

"Before we go…Thanks, Mr. Grouper….What you are doing now means a lot to me" Oona was thankful to him.

"Anything for all of you. Now, let's go" Mr. Grouper offered his arm and Oona held on to his arm so they could march together like a father marching with his daughter in a wedding march. She was wearing a white kimono called a shiramuko and a tall white cap called a wataboshi, hiding her purple hair. Finally, they began the wedding march to walk her down the aisle. Without a doubt, this beautiful ceremony had begun.

And so we start with this arc that we have all been waiting for. A proper way for Oona and Nonny to begin their story together that will last the rest of their lives. For now we leave the best for the next chapter, where all the "meat" will be on the grill. As you know, leave your reviews to know your opinions. I'm going to answer the reviews of the last chapter, which are many, which I appreciate.

mermaidf: Hi, my friend! It's really a shame that both Wilma and Robynn have been through so many bad things. In Robynn's case, we can't always understand people's actions, attitudes or ways of thinking. And Robynn is a clear example.

SuperSonichero18: Hello there! I'm glad you liked this backstory

GojiRaptor06: Hiya! Unfortunately, unpleasant circumstances can derail our path if we make bad decisions. And unfortunately, Robynn did the latter. It's possible that both of them can have a good ending, but only if they make better decisions in the future. Oh, and the wedding has already started!

PrimroseRaspberry: Hi there! It's a shame that Robynn and Wilma have had to live through horrible things. Let's hope their story ends better.

RainbowFoxy1987: Hello! I see that this is a double review about the last two chapters. So let's see them one by one. About chapter 27, it was a relatively calm chapter and it served to deepen the relationship between Goby and Deema (with unexpected results lol). And chapter 28, it really is impressive. Robynn was a girl who did everything possible to take care of her sister. Maybe she did the famous idea of "doing the wrong thing for the right reasons", but that ended up giving her a dark path. Let's hope that both of them can correct their path and find out what happened to their father. Unfortunately you are right about bullying, the victims have been punished while the bullies get away with it (although in my case, we both paid). I hope you enjoy the wedding in progress.

I'm ReaderandWriter9000 and see you soon in the next chapter of this story or in another!
