Alpha, Beta. But Never an Omega

Chapter 7: Arrangements

/

Dick waited for Slade as his face showed back through the door. Slipping the key in the lock, Slade made sure the security and his bed were, tight enough.

"You didn't run."

"Where could I go, you know I have no …"

Dick let the cuffs that were bound round his wrists clink as he peered over to see that Slade had brought bags. Shopping?

"How…what are those?"

They looked to be in a salmon orange paper bag from some department store. Dick frowned up at the man as he was ready to ask again, yet Slade went to undo the cuffs instead. "Something for you to quit wining to me about not having at your disposal." Slade dropped the two bags onto Dick's lap as he pulled away the paper. "Consider it a gift. And your medication is in one of those bags as well. It helps to know a pharmacist in the industry willing to –

"COUNTERFEIT??" Dick pulled out the pill bottle as je showed it to Slade's smug face. "I could get poisoned with this…no way, take it -

"No, you could, but won't ." Slade pulled the bottle out of Dick's grip as the boy saw something else in the bag.

"Slade. No."

Dick pulled out a silver studded color with black leather.

" THIS?"

"A gift, and you will be wearing this one in public." Slade pulled off the top of the pill bottle and went to fetch a glass of water for his little pseudo - mega.

"Here." He handed the glass to Dick as the boy shoved the bags towards the headboard, the other hand had his two suppressants right and ready to swallow down. "If I get sicker, you owe me to have a full medical team ready to pump my stomach."

"You won't die. These work, try to trust your Alpha."

Dick snorted and took a heavy gulp down of the pills to water- his near choking face as humorous as the items Slade had chosen to parade his pet in once they'd have to go out together again. Dick pounded his chest as he coughed. The pills, were so large. And dry

"Ow! Is that… weekly?"

"Monthly." Slade said as he placed the glass back in the kitchen onto the counter there. No need to wet the bed like last time. "Did you see any other surprises inside those bags, besides the collar. I thought it would make you seem, less feral."

"Funny, then why not g…" Dick shook his head. "Never mind…. what is?..."

Dick dropped the piece then studied what the bed was holding. A blue…sun dress .

A set of lace at the hem as his eyes never wanted it left in his face…. Dick's acid bubbled profusely.

Dick tore his eyes from the piece of fabric to glare angrily at the mercenary. "Is this a joke to you?? I don't wear these and…. take it back..."

"You might need it, for a mission or two."

"Not happening. No vag, remember?"

Dick shook his head as Slade sarcastically reprimanded the boy wonder undone. "Why, Richard! Why would I expect you to have one? That'd be a backwards but if homophobic proportions. Not all ladies look the part. You should know that with…. Kori-

"Ah… how…" Dick growled and pulled out a much more modern street style pair of black…was this the year before, 2000? The top was just a tight-fitting black tee. Nothing like his cargos. Nothing at all. It jeans that he'd lost the previous night. "If I look like a moron; I'd feel like a damn –

"It's a guise. It's what the rave loving Gothic crowd, craves. Your persona is dark. You don't know any better. Bruce will get it. A rebel, once, always a rebel."

Dick wanted to face- plant his jaw at that remark. "Make no mistake. I would be doing the fashion police no justice."

"Who says." Slade picked up the bag with the collar in it and toyed with the clasp in the back. "Every piece should fit like it belongs to no one else. I made sure that you could picture yourself fully dressed –

"YOU'RE no sugar daddy." Dick huffed. "As for the collar, try a black band. Plain. Not flashy."

"Check the one with the pants." Smirked the older adult as Dick groaned at the fact, he was far to attune to what the kid wanted. Far too much…

"You just really know how to treat your victims. Nice." Dick sighed and put on the band with a small click. "No strings? No special lock?"

"No, just an accessory. You seem fond if it already. Am I wrong about the size, though?"

Dick ran his fingers over the back and to his joy, it was no trap at all. He unlinked it as it fell loose. The thing was not really expensive or anything like that. He could have it for himself. Not as a pet dog. "Thanks." Dick breathed out as he put everything back into the two bags. "For the meds, they're not causing me to grow four arms yet."

"Likewise." Slade smiled…. smiled?? Ok, had to be an Alpha thing. "Um, are you…done gawking?"

Slade stood up and the kid let out a stale exhale. "Getting up."

Dick was about to, had vertigo not gentle taken him back down. He fell into the sheets. The …. fuck?

"Slade…. what?... nng…."

All dead, it was –

"That relaxant has a reputation for being fast acting. My, my…" Slade chuckled as he swept back over to show the kid that he had his watch set. That their bags and their things were in the closet. Packed.

This was a change of pace. Slade had... lied

"Hnn?"

"Come, pet." Slade put the other collar, the studded one on as Dick couldn't move to stop him. A key was put away as it stayed there. Locked in place as Dick began to sweat, his body was then lifted as Slade looked for the door. "Time to go. The bat was a bit of trouble to lose on my way back. Seems I'm not being careful enough with your family."

Dick had his head beating with his heart as Slade scooped the kid up to not drop him. One other andro - bot in the hall from Slade's old armada had the suitcases and Slade's equipment. The second and third were in a helicopter on the roof as Slade didn't wait for an entourage. "Say goodbye to this city, dear child. The bat won't even have a chance to catch on that you still even cared. It's why you stalled, wasn'tit. You could have left at any time…no, wait." Slade shrugged as the boy was tossed into the arms of a waiting robot.

"No. You couldn't. My error, you're actually, pretty screwed, Grayson."

Dick's jaw started to move until Slade shoved a cloth rag into it. "Or, you will be. Come time for your second heat…"

Dick didn't get to keep his eyes open as the sky lit with the bat signal. His eyes watered as he regretted his selfish actions. The fact he'd been caught by the wrong people, not being one of those regrets. Only that he'd failed to put them behind bars.

Andro – bots are what I'm going to call Slade bots from time to time in this.

Bruce had lost the trail cold as his iron clad palms pushed open the door to Commissioner Gordon's office at the precinct. "Jim. We can't stand around. Dick is still –

"I know it. My boys got the bat's address. It was in that fake document-

"Application. And it was a clue we needed to find. It's too late now, he fled the city. I…" Bruce was coaxed to sit as Jim looked on in the same amount of pain as Babs would have upon hearing of her existence disappearance the next day.

"Don't leak this out yet, I need to think."

"You, do?" Scoffed the older cop as he leaned back into his seat at the desk and turned darkly to the bat. "Waiting involves more than you'd like to picture. This could be the Alpha in you leaning out."

Bruce's nostrils snarled up at Jim, "Dick wasn't safe to begin with. That's why we had Barbara break off what they never gave each other. If I told Dick that he's not like any beta or omega but….that." Bruce shook his head. "Soulmates don't exist."

"Wilson sees it differently than you and me, Bruce." Sighed Jim as he softened his tone. "I can help on the raid. You send anyone to the location after em?" Jim pulled out a bottle of scotch from his desk drawer and two glasses right in the same row. "Care to unwind and talk it out while my team digs through Slade's dirty laundry? Might take a few hours."

/

Bruce Wayne was never one to drink casually on his own or in the company of any bosom buddy – minus Mr. Queen of Queen Industries in Star City. He felt the pang of unending defeat plunge him into just one glass as he clamped the small shot with Jim's and downed it in the rarest example of sober fortitude that the bat's alias could muster up.

"So. He was gonna try out for the squad in the future. Should a picked one of your pack ta have started a riot with the system. Babs was first to call it. She finally threw a fit and said she'd move to a country without anti -omega laws against them being cops. She said her whole life revolves around one thing too." Jim downed a new shot as Bruce nursed the first. He didn't want to walk out half pissed and reading while Damian's nose would have that scent on the nose. Better than any dirty tabloid report's aim.

"Dick was going to pass, before I told him to let it go. That he couldn't do anything that dangerous-

"He's a bat, but it is a shame. Did you say anything about, you know? To the kids?"

"Tim, Jason and Alfred and I are the only ones. Damian may gave noticed already, but…" Bruce looked at his watch, Jim downing his second glass as the bat cut their mini meeting short. "I'm heading to the scene to see if anything was picked up. You coming?"

"Can a blind man call his mate, bluff? Then, yeah. I'm good to go after." Jim put his bottle back for next time. These were important moments for the dark knight. Even as a young Alpha pup, Bruce had been difficult to read. Sometimes he spoke, other times, brilliant but silent all day long.

"Let's not wait. I wanna see if there is more to the man than he was about ten years ago. Been a long time since we got a glimpse of his face dodging Interpol and Amanda Waller of Task Force X, in a whole decade. Like a damn memory I'd rather forget by now."

"Glad you haven't." Bruce pushed open the doors to the precinct hall and found his keys. "Want a lift?" He turned to Jim as the man already knew plenty. Bats and birds, they were no stranger to danger in this city.

"Got your back this time, partner." Grinned Jim as they headed for Bruce's vehicle. "Off to find your boy, or wherever they may have brought him."
