Chapter 2: The Storm Begins
Naugus is sitting in his room with the lights dimmed around him as he meditates in the middle of the darkroom pondering over the events that led him to this day.
-Flashback begins-
As soon as Naugus reveals himself to Metal Sonic, he sits in the Doctor's chair putting together his next move. "I had the Badnik Forces recognize you as their new leader," Metal finished reprogramming the robots in the base along with other outposts and bases around the world.
"These bots are quite interior to my Robotnik's robot army but they will be useful," Naugus said as Metal is inputting new code into the main computer.
"We need to upgrade these Badnik for the coming fights ahead. The Doctor doesn't bother to upgrade those instead of putting efforts into mechs that will become scrap heaps by my fleshy counterpart," Metal finishes punching in the codes.
"I need some needed manpower, have any lying around?" Naugus asked as Metal led him to a lift and downward toward the bottom floor.
"Robotnik, before you killed him, was working on three Mobians who can help him kill Sonic and his friends. They are stored here in stasis pods," the duo takes a lift to the basement floor as three pods are in the middle of the large room.
Metal gets on the console beside the pods as he starts activating the first pod for the wizard to see a purple-colored mink with white streaks along his arms and forehead sensing an eerie power from this being.
"This one is named Geist, the Doctor found him lying in a desert and found out he has great powers even ones similar to a ghost," Metal said as Naugus was interested in this Ghost Mobian.
The mink falls out of the pod and lands on his feet looking before Naugus with shock in his eyes. "You're not the doctor, what happened to him?" he asked.
"I have taken care of him, my good sir. He'll not be a problem to anyone," Naugus said as Geist got upright for him to have a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness, I don't have to see that old fart again. So, what's your deal?" Geist asked.
"In time, all things become clear," Naugus said as they moved onto the next stasis pod.
"Okay, the second one is named Ether Wells. Robotnik wanted her because of their telekinetic abilities," the wizard looks at the slender blue vixen wearing a black blouse and matching skirt with slits on the sides.
"Interesting, release her," Naugus ordered as Metal pressed a button on the panel letting the fox land on the metal floor.
"Wow, who are you?" Ether said as she felt weak from staying inside the pod for so long.
"I'm Naugus, I've taken care of the doctor and need you for a mission of mine," Naugus said as the blue fox shook his hand.
"Hey, you have taken care of the bastard. I'm in," Ether said as Naugus went towards the next pod with a beautiful golden rabbit with long blond hair and green eyes wearing a pink leotard with both her arms and legs being robotic.
"Oh, she's a special case master. Robotnik found her with her body almost destroyed; he saw the chance to turn her into a cyborg making her a weapon against Sonic and his friends." Metal explained.
Naugus looks at the rabbit as he finds her strangely familiar but dismisses it; he seems a little suspicious by the sweet look on her face. "She looks soft. Can she fight?" he asked.
"Trust me, she's as sweet looking as she's deadly and her name is Scarlett O'Hare," Metal releases her from the capsule as she lands before Naugus.
"Who the heck are you?" Scarlett asked in a Dixie accent.
"I'm Naugus and I managed to kill Robotnik," Naugus said as the Southern rabbit was happy about the news.
"Shoot that's impressive. If you need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask," Scarlett said.
"Excellent, we need to search for the Manuscripts of Onyx. We are on the road of destiny, my friends. Nothing can stop us now," Naugus said.
-Flashback ends-
Naugus can hear the door open with Scarlett at the entrance. "Hey, boss. What do we need for your plan against your world's Robotnik?" Scarlett asked as Naugus stopped his meditation letting himself up.
"Two things; first the Onyx Horde which I'm working on, I still haven't deciphered the whole text yet. Second, the Chaos Emeralds, which I need to reach back to my home dimension. That we can start doing," Naugus said as the blond rabbit had a smirk on her face.
"Well, I just reckon to know where such a priceless treasure exists," Scarlett presses a button on her robotic arm and a holographic image appears showing a blue gem stored in a vault. "I found this on the internet; it's at Station Square National Bank. One of the biggest banks on the planet," she said.
"Nice work but you need to wait until the heat from the robbery wears down letting their guard down when we strike the bank. It'll be quick and painless," Naugus said as Scarlett agreed for her to get out of the room.
Meanwhile, in the city of Station Square within the couple's large apartment, the night is still young. Mina is lying in bed with Sonic watching over her. "You got pretty beat up but with a little rest. You'll be fine," Sonic got a medical warp over the wound on her arm for him to gently caress her furry cheeks.
"Thanks, Blue. You're a real sweetheart," Mina said feeling her cheeks get rosy from him touching them so affectionately. He puts the first aid kit away to check over her condition.
"My pleasure, I should let you rest for a bit," Sonic heads off but the mongoose stops him by pulling him by the arm. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"Can you be in bed with me?" the mongoose can see Sonic's face glow bright red as Mina playfully hits him on the shoulder. "Oh, you horn dog. I want to cuddle. It'll make me feel better," Mina said as Sonic crawled under the sheets and spooned his girlfriend from behind.
"Wow Mina, you're so warm," Sonic said as he rubbed his naked hands over her yellow belly for Mina to love her hero's gentle touch.
"Glad you're comfortable, see you in the morning Blue," the mongoose kisses him on the lips as they relax in each other's embrace.
Elsewhere in the city, the Chaotix members are at their late-night meeting with the supervisor of the warehouse sector, "So found anything out there?" the female human director asked.
"Nothing, the places were trashed but nothing was taken," Vector said sitting inside the office along with Espio and Shade while Knuckles, Mighty, and Charmy waited outside.
"Was there anything there before that was of any value?" Shade asked as the woman tried to remember what was held there before.
"Well, before moving between locations. The Manuscripts of Onyx were placed here a few days ago; it was moved to the main museum," the director said.
"Very convenient, would you say Vector?" Espio said.
"Yeah, the museum got hit a few hours ago by Metal Sonic stealing the stone tablets from there. The other places, as well as this sector, were hit because it held the Manuscripts before," Vector said as the Director was awestruck by this.
"The tablets are useless because you need the magic arts to read them fully but anyone who was part of that culture doesn't exist anymore," the director said.
"Gee, this gets weirder by the minute," Shade said as they finished their meeting getting the others outside.
"What's going on?" Knuckles asked as the Chaotix members went towards the exit.
"Knux, things are getting bizarre. Let's get back to HQ and think this through," Vector said.
Elsewhere in G.U.N main base, Shadow and Rouge watch the security cameras taken at the scene seeing Sonic and Mina taking on Metal Sonic. "This has the doctor written all over it," Rouge said.
"Rouge, let's not jump the gun here. I don't get why someone would get a useless item." Shadow is puzzled by this.
"Maybe it's a distraction to draw us away from a real attack from Eggman," Rouge said as Shadow agreed with her statement.
"You may be onto something; we need to monitor the situation and see what happens next," Shadow said as the duo worked in the research center.
The sun is high in the sky for Mina to wake up from her slumber with her lover/best friend holding her around her waist. The mongoose yawns softly for her to stretch out her limbs, "Morning sweetie."
She turns around to see Sonic snoring peacefully with his face nuzzling against her long hair all bedridden. "Mmm, oh sweet you're so luscious and thick; I like to eat every part of you," Sonic muttered in his sleep as Mina blushed thinking he was fantasying about her.
"You don't have to dream about me Blue, I'm right here," she kisses his forehead as she holds him tight.
"So warm and soft," Sonic whispers as his hands move along her soft lean stomach lightly feeling her yellow fur. "I love you so much, my precious chill dogs," Sonic mumbled as Mina was taken aback by this and pulled herself out of bed with a sigh.
"Oh baby, I just hope you don't cheat on me with a hotdog," Mina giggles at Sonic as she goes to her dresser and takes out some clothing as she heads for the bathroom.
She turns on the bathtub for the warm water to escape into the tub as she strips out of her dress and underwear putting them on the side. She sits in the water-filled tub letting her body soothe from the warmth.
"Oh, that hits the spot," Mina relaxes in the bathtub as she washes away the dirt off her body. "I remember I first met him; he was so frightful of water. It's one of the few times I can see him truly vulnerable," she said with a big smile.
Mina pulls herself out of the water and turns off the water letting the drain out. She steps out dripping wet using a towel to dry off her fur and hair. "Great nice and clean," Mina grabs a pair of black panties and a bra to put them on; they snug well against her curvaceous figure.
She slips into a white tank top and blue knee-length skirt with her purple hair straight and shiny. She heads out of the bathroom as Sonic begins to wake up. "Honey, you're awake. How was your sleep?" Mina asked.
Mina sits next to him on the bed as Sonic yawns loudly, "Pretty good. I have the nicest dream." Mina sighs from his food fetish dream. "Has your arm healed?" he said concerned looking at her bandaged arm as Mina nodded her head.
"Yes, I'm fine. Thanks for keeping me company," Mina said as Sonic got out of bed and kissed her on the cheek. They go into the living room with Mina going into the kitchen.
"No problem, babe," Sonic sits on her couch as Mina searches through the fridge looking for something for the two to eat. Sonic turns on the TV for the news to come on. "Hey Mina look at this," Sonic commented and Mina turned her head to the TV.
"This is a special report, the museum suffered serious damage by one of Robotnik's robots Metal Sonic. The robot manages to kill several security guards and evade the police, from the camera footage Sonic and his partner Mina manage to fend off the robot but cannot prevent it from stealing an artifact called the Manuscripts of Onyx. More news coming up," the news reporter said as photos of the museum were being shown onscreen.
"Anything you want, I got bacon, eggs, some toast. What do you like?" Mina asked as Sonic turns around and sees she is bending over into the fridge for him to stare at her butt loving how it hugs the back of her skirt.
"How about some round plump buns," Sonic has a flush on his face as Mina looks back and notices him staring.
"You know it's rude to stare," Mina pouted in protest as she took out a bag of waffles and put some into a microwave.
"Guess you can say Chill Dogs aren't the only thing I like to get my hands on," Sonic flirted with Mina for her to giggle for her to take out the waffles.
"You dirty hog, you like some syrup?" Mina grabs a bottle of maple syrup for Sonic to nod yes as she puts it all over the food. "We can share," she takes the plate and sits with Sonic handing him a fork.
The duo ate their breakfast as the report came back on the TV. "The police are wondering about this attack that the infamous Doctor Eggman will come back after being defeated by Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends a few weeks ago leaving the world in a state of peace," the male reporter said.
"Sonic, I'm worried about what Metal Sonic said before," Mina said as Metal's words echoed in her mind 'I have a new master, Robotnik is not my concern'. "Who's out there that could be worse than Robotnik?" Mina sounded worried about this.
"Who knows babe, I mean Robuttnik is the only big bad out there or maybe Metal is screwing with us and is doing this himself," Sonic said.
"In any case, Tails needs to pinpoint where Metal went. It'll take a few days to figure it out," Mina said as Sonic turned the TV off with the remote.
"It's all we got," Sonic said as he gave his girlfriend a deep kiss for him to caress her left cheek.
"I hope he can find something Blue; this makes me nervous," Mina said as she joined him on the couch to cuddle up in a soft embrace.
Faraway in the mountain base, Metal Sonic is looking over the proceeding area where the Egg Pawns are being made. "Alright improving the armor plating of the robots and making the arm blasters more powerful being able to burn through GUN's soldiers like twigs," Metal is checking the status of the weapons and robots.
"Hello Metal, how's the status of our troops," Ether came onto the catwalk floating down with her mental powers.
"Going pretty well, I manage to restart the E1000s, E-2000, and E-2000R models to give our forces an extra kick they need. I don't know why he abandoned the E-2000 series after the whole Neo Metal Sonic incident." Metal said as the E-2000 models are being made.
"I can never understand the doctor's logic or even if he has any logic at all," Ether said as they monitored the status of the Badnik Army.
Meanwhile Sonic heads over to the Chaotix's HQ building in Station Square as he approaches the door. "Yo anyone home there," Sonic can see Charmy coming to the door and opening it for him. "Thanks, Charmy," Sonic said as he went inside.
"No prob Sonic, what brings you here?" the bee asked.
"I need to talk with Knuckles and Vector about the Museum robbery," Sonic said as Charmy led him upstairs.
"What luck, we're trying to solve that very crime ourselves," Charmy said as they got to the door to the main room.
"Any luck?" Sonic opens the door with Vector and Knuckles on the desk looking over clues, Espio and Shade are on the far side discussing the crime scene and Mighty seems bored out of his mind.
"Does this answer your question; Vector and Knuckles guess who came here?" Charmy said as the group's two leaders went up and greeted their old friend.
"Yo Sonic what's shaking," Vector slaps Sonic a high five with Knuckles and Sonic sharing a fist bump.
"Nothing really except I got my ass handed to me by Metal Sonic," Sonic said.
"Well, we are on that case right now. It's pretty weird with Metal stealing something that's pretty useless for Eggman," Knuckle looks over a photo of the Stone tablets as Sonic sits in a chair.
"The thing is Metal said he didn't follow Robotnik anymore. That took me off guard," Sonic said, which surprised the Chaotix members.
"You serious, this changes everything. Got any idea who's behind this?" Vector said.
"I don't know if this guy who's controlling Metal is even worse than Eggman. We will be in a lot of trouble," Sonic said.
"Thanks for telling us, we snoop around and tell you if we find anything strange," Shade said as Sonic headed for the door.
"Yeah, Tails is trying to find out where the robot faker took off to and find out what the fuck is going on here," Sonic went off the door leaving the Chaotix just as confused.
"What indeed," Espio thought.
A few days have passed since the Museum robbery with nighttime taking place for Naugus and Metal Sonic look over the New Badnik Army, "This is quite impressive." Naugus praises the robot hedgehog as he calls upon the three henchmen, "Now it's time to strike the bank and steal the gem for ourselves."
"Easy as pie, Big Daddy," Scarlett puts energy into her rocket feet as she heads off along with the other two.
"Metal, go along with them and bring the E-2000s for support," Naugus commanded for Metal to obey and head off as well. "I need to focus on cracking the code to this tablet and the location of the Horde," Naugus heads back to his area going to figure out the tablets.
The four henchmen fly towards Station Square along with 15 cloaked E-2000s behind them. They finally arrived at the bank on the edge of the city for the four to take in the sight of the massive building, "Man, they were not joking about it being the biggest bank," Geist said.
They slow their descent landing nearby, they head for the front door seeing people inside waiting in line. The blond rabbit heads to the front for the lady behind the glass and looks annoyed, "I'm sorry madam but you have to be in the back of the line like everyone else."
"I'm sorry but I'm making a special deposit," Scarlett pulls out her arm cannon and blows away the glass taking the girl's head with it. Blood and brain matter scatter right behind the corpse of the woman with people panicky and guards drawing out their pistols at her.
"Big mistake," Geist jumps into one of the guards and possesses his body. Geist takes the guy's pistol and makes the guard shoot his friends before turning the gun on the guard himself. Geist appears on top of the guard's body snapping his fingers, "Such a weak mind."
The people scream and panic for Ether to use her psychic powers to grip all the people and knock them into the wall silencing them instantly. "Now, time to search for that emerald. Watch out for guards and keep in contact on the radio," Ether said for the three to search along with the robots.
More guards hear what happened as a group of them head through the halls one of the cloaked robots approaches them. "Freeze, you are in a blocked-off area," the guards were shaken by a bright red flash emitting under the hood for the E-2000 to show itself revealing to be a sleek yet powerful red humanoid robot.
The bot raises its arm and fires a focused beam of energy as it burns through the group of guards vaporizing them. "Area cleared," the E-2000 uses its jets and flies through the area seeking out more threats.
A guard who barely survived uses his radio to call the others, "We need the whole area on lockdown ASAP. We got Eggman's bots in here." The whole building is in lockdown mode as the place is sealed from top to bottom.
Meanwhile Sonic is hanging out with his girlfriend Mina at their huge apartment. "You got anything on Metal Sonic's whereabouts?" he asked Tails on the phone. Tails shows him a map on his phone's screen.
"Okay, I manage to track down Metal's exhaust trail, and goes towards Mount Lope in the west," Tails said as Mina felt happy about this.
"We head for Eggman's base and see what's going on at last," Mina said as there was a news report on the TV.
"Breaking News, the Station Square National Bank is being attacked by Eggman's robots and unknown henchmen who killed many of the military guards in the blocked area where a chaos emerald is being held," the reporter said as Sonic's earpiece went off.
"Yo Sonic, are you seeing this?" Vector said on the radio.
"Oh yeah, I'm seeing. I and Mina will meet you guys there," Sonic said as the duo rushed outside moving towards the bank at high speed.
In no time, the duo made it to the sealed bank. "Damn this place is locked tight," Mina said.
"We need to attack from different angles," Sonic said as Mina used her arm cannon's hook cable to help her run up the side of the large building and see a glass ceiling.
"Yeah, you burrow underground while I attack from up top," Mina said on the radio.
"Sounds like a plan," Sonic uses a spin dash to cut into the dirt and tear through the metal floor of the bank. The blue hog can see pools of blood spread across the ground with limbs and bodies scattered everywhere. Sonic's nose is hit with a strong foul odor covering the room, "Holy shit, these bodies are stinking up the place."
"You must be the famous Sonic the Hedgehog, are you Sugar Hog?" a female Mobian rabbit with long blond hair appears before the hedgehog.
"Who the hell are you?" Sonic is on alert for the rabbit to point her arm cannon at him unleashing a powerful sonic blast and knocking Sonic across the ground.
"I'm Scarlett O'Hare but my partners nicknamed me 'Bunnie Rabbot'. Prepare handsome because I would like to play with you for a bit." Bunnie fires a ball of energy at Sonic for him to evade with ease launching a spin dash at the blond cyborg.
Bunnie turns her two robotic arms into energy shields as she catches Sonic's attack being forced back by the hog's attack. The rabbit knocks him back turning her left arm into the arm cannon blasting him with a potent sonic wave sending Sonic into a wall.
"Bunnie Rabbot, that's a nickname or a bad pun your 'friends' play on you," Sonic taunted as he began charging up energy for him to spin in place.
"You think you're such a big shot, I'll teach you how to treat a lady." Scarlett flies towards Sonic with her fist aiming for his head.
"Too bad because I already know how, Light Speed Attack," Sonic rushes at her at full speed and tackles her sending Bunnie through a bunch of glass panels.
Mina managed to get inside from up top, "Okay I'm in. Sonic's what's going on your end?" she asked on the radio.
"Damn it, some chick named Bunnie Rabbot is fighting with me. She got some powerful cybernetics in her arms and legs, Eggman brand name is written all over it," he said.
"Be careful okay," Mina said as she headed further into the building with more dead bodies surfacing across the floor. "This is seriously bad," Mina tries to suppress the bad odor for a cloaked figure to rush towards the mongoose.
Mina dodges the charge for the cloak to disappear and reveals the E-2000 for it to arm its laser cannons at Mina. The mongoose ducks under the beam of energy for her to draw out her arm cannon firing a ball of electricity at the robot.
The bot evades as it counterattacks by shooting energy beams at the mongoose. Mina jumps over the energy rays and pops a few electric orbs at the bot managing to hit it stunning it in place.
She rushes front and smacks her arm cannon into its head knocking it onto the floor showing some damage. The E-2000 kicks Mina in the stomach and then punches her in the chest launching her across the hallway. "I forget how strong these things can get," Mina dodges a tackle as she knocks it away with a strong kick for it to crash into a wall destroying it on impact.
She puts the arm cannon module in her skirt's back pocket for her to move forward, "Chaotix, where are you guys?" she called through the radio.
"Yo it's Mighty, we got here a few minutes ago. Knux is using his shovel claws to dig us into the bank, we'll be there in a short bit," Mighty cuts off the radio as Knuckles is almost there.
"Pick up the pace, our friends are endangered," Charmy getting impatient with Knuckles feeling a little annoyed.
"Well Charmy, I'm not doing this for my health," Knuckles manages to reach the end for the rest of the Chaotix to appear inside the bank. "Happy Charmy," he said.
The guys can only see death and destruction as the inside of the bank is completely trashed, "Wow, what a dump." Charmy said as Espio and Shade noticed something coming at them.
"Guys, look out," Shade pulls out her energy daggers and slices through the debris. The gang can see a beautiful slender fox pulsing with psychic energy appear before the Chaotix.
"So, the hedgehog had backup huh?" Ether said as the Chaotix got into a combat stance.
"Yeah, what do you get?" Charmy taunted as several E-2000s surround them for Charmy's cockiness to vanish like water vapor. "Oh, my big mouth," he said.
"Attack," Ether ordered as the Badniks launched their attacks on the others with Vector, Charmy, and Espio facing Ether. "Guess I have to deal with you clowns now," Ether lobs several pieces of debris with her mind for the three to avoid the projectiles.
Espio draws out several explosive Kunais tossing them at the psychic fox as she creates an energy barrier shielding her from the blast.
Vector and Charmy rush in as Vector slams his fists onto the shield making Ether's arms burn from the impact of the hit. Charmy goes in top speed acting like a missile to bash into the shield for Ether's hold gets weaker on the barrier.
The Vixen moves away as she lifts more debris and dead bodies at the trio. "Wait a minute," Espio tosses a ninja star past the flying corpses and broken concrete. Ether notices it as she brings up her shield but every object she was holding with her mind falls on the ground.
"Good eyes Espio, she can only go offensive or defensive," Vector said as Ether resumed tossing debris as Espio moved with ninja stars with Charmy backing him up.
The duo evades through the flying projectiles for Espio to toss several ninja stars for them to cut across the fox's stomach. Blood is dripping from her wounds as she realizes they figure it out. "Shit," she desperately throws more junk at the two but Charmy flies through it and tackles Ether knocking her off balance.
Vector knocks away the concrete and bodies as he hits a piece of debris launching it at Ether. She tries blocking it with her shield but due to her weakened state, the projectile smashes through the barrier knocking her into a wall.
"Boo-yah, that's what I'm talking about," Vector slaps Charmy a high five for Ether to be covered in blood and her body pretty beat up.
"Damn it, I got to retreat," Ether warps herself out of there for the rest of the Chaotix to take down the E-2000s.
"Sonic, whatever send these guys are not playing around. We just had beaten a psychic and her robot cronies," Vector said on the comlink as Sonic dodged energy bombs from Scarlett.
"Yeah, I'm dealing with a cybernetic pain in the ass," Sonic dodges an incoming missile as he gets close and delivers a powerful kick. Bunnie stops his blow with her robotic arm as she grabs him and tosses him onto a desk.
"Sorry Sugar hog but you don't have a chance against me," Bunnie charges up her fist and slams it to the ground unleashing a shockwave that races through the floor giving Sonic a big shock. She heads for Sonic as he shakes the effects off for him to barely dodge her strike.
"Mina, are you close to where the emerald is being held?" Sonic asked on the radio for Mina to reach the high-security vault stepping on a pool of blood and getting it on the heel of her green boots.
"Yeah, I am. I'll be careful," Mina approached cautiously into the vault as she saw Metal and a purple mink in front of a pile of scattered limbs and guts.
"Finally, the emerald is in our grasp," Metal looks over the red gem with iron glee as Geist sees the mongoose by the vault door and shoots a beam of black energy at her. She avoids the attack as another E-2000 tackles her out of the way, "We got what we came for; retreat." Metal and Geist vanish from sight for the E-2000 to follow after them leaving Mina behind.
"Scarlett, we got to get out of here," Geist said on the comlink as Bunnie pulled away from the fight.
"Sorry Sugar hog but I got to fly. Hope I can see you again," Bunnie blows him a kiss as she flies away at high speed with her rocket feet. Sonic is pretty banged up from his battle with the rabbit cyborg.
"She might be sweet looking but she's one tough bitch," Sonic said as the others came to his aid with Mina rushing by his side.
"Blue are you okay?" Mina pulls out her mini-computer using its sensors to scan his body for damage.
Sonic coughs up blood on the ground, "The chick gave me a run for my money and that's saying something." Sonic said feeling worn out as Mina's computer detects something.
"He has taken quite a beating, I'll have to take you to my lab in Mystic Ruins to patch you up," she said as Vector and Mighty helped Sonic up heading outside the bank.
"Gee Sonic; this is getting crazier by the day. Stone tablets are stolen, and a chaos emerald is taken. What does this freaking mean?" Knuckles is utterly confused by this as Sonic is trying to wrap his mind around Metal and three henchmen.
The four and the robots got back to the mountain base for Naugus is waiting for them in the hanger bay. Metal hands over the priceless gem to Naugus pleased with his new allies, "Well done, my friends but these people in Station Square need to know what they're dealing with. I'm happy to oblige to that."
"That is excellent master, Robotnik wanted to destroy the city for a long time. We need to strike fear into these fools," Metal said.
