On top of an airship, Doctor Starline is overlooking the ruins of the ancient echidna city. "I am hoping I can find more tech here since the last trip was a bust," Starline remembered being schooled by Mina in the Mystic Ruins. "I will not be bested by some ditzy pop star," Starline said.
"Speaking to yourself again boss?" a serious voice asked as Starline turned around to see one of his lieutenants aka Legionnaires called Clove the Pronghorn.
"Of course not, I am reflecting on my previous defeat. Echidnapolis is one of the colonies from Albion set up in ancient times. We are going to go inside and steal its secrets," Starline said as he called in his minions consisting of Thrash, Kit, Surge, Clove, and Clove's younger sister Cassa.
"The ancient city of the Echidna huh?" Clove wondered. "I wonder if they have the technology to fix my sister's illness," she thought being hopeful about this as the only reason why she is working with Starline is to save her sister from her incurable illness.
"More ruins of those monsters," Thrash said as she showed a clear hatred for Echidnas.
"You will have your revenge soon Thrash. The last two echidnas are still here and you get your chance to kill them themselves," Starline said as Thrash cracked his knuckles.
"Looking forward to it," Thrash said.

"Well time to move in and take its secrets," Starline said as they moved their airship to land nearby while the Deadly Six watched from the shadows on top of a mountain.

"Excellent, this would be useful in our quest to destroy this pitiful world," Master Zik said sensing the impressive power coming from the surrounding area.
"I hope it looks nice at least to meet my eyes," Zeena said placing her hands on her hips to admire the view.
"Gee, I hope they have rocks that taste good," Zomom said as Zavok groaned at this.
"You can eat later, now it's time to claim our revenge against the blue rat and his pitiful world," Zavok said as the Deadly Six moved into the ruins to seek this power.

A 15-year-old Mina is in Station Square just before Chaos shows up in the city. Mina standing under the roof of a building while hiding from the rain pouring down onto the streets of the human city. Mina is stuck in her mind as Sonic snaps her back to reality. "So, you are daydreaming again?" he asked.

Mina lets out a cute little burp. "Oh, pardon me," she said as she finished her orange juice. "Okay, let's bounce to Tails workshop," Mina said as they got onto the train to head for the Mystic Ruins.
Tails and Nicole were working on something with Cosmo preparing herself and Tails breakfast. "Cosmo, are you okay?" Nicole asked to scan her body which she finds interesting. She is a humanoid but a living plant with her insides matching organic beings like Mobians, Humans, and Demi-Humans. "Quite the oddity," Nicole said putting up a holographic display showing these results.
"Yes, I am okay Nicole, thanks for asking," Cosmo said as she was cooking slices of bacon and eggs. They hear the doorbell ringing as Nicole opens the door with Sonic and Mina coming into the living room.
"Oh, hey everyone," Mina said.
"Oh, you are here. I got your message. The Tornado is prepared to launch for you to head for Downunda. Be careful Sonic, I heard the Deadly Six, and Dr. Starline was sighted by the ruins," Tails said.
"Those jokers, we can handle those guys like babe," Sonic said as Mina nodded her head.
"Of course, baby, we got this," Mina said.
"Alright, good luck out there. Hopefully, Jewel's lead is correct," Tails said as they went into the hangar with Sonic hopping into the cockpit with Mina in the second seat behind him.

Soon enough, Sonic and Mina managed to land on the grass for them to be on the large landmass that humans used to call Australia which is now called Downunda. Sonic grabs Mina by the waist to gently set her on the grass.
"Looks at this place, this island used to be a whole nation of humans and now it's nothing but multiple Mobian kingdoms ruling over sections of it along with endless wilderness," Mina said feeling sad at all the ruins around them.
"Well, we should speed toward those ruins and grab the info we need," Sonic said as they sped off into the distance to follow the directions to the Echidnapolis ruins. They stop at a cliff to look down to see the vast array of buildings and statues of Echidnas littered across the grounds.
"This is it, Echidnapolis one of the many Echidna colonies scattered across this planet," Mina said as she was amazed by the sight of this massive set of ruins.
"Come, let's watch out for Dr. Starline and his goons," Sonic said as then a large sonic boom launched them into a wall crashing through it.
"Not so fast rats," a booming voice said as Mina used Hover to lift off all the debris around them.
"Who is that?" Sonic wondered.
"It's that Tasmanian Devil Mobian working with Dr. Starline," Mina said as Sonic looked about this large Mobian who towered over them at 6 feet with purple fur, a large build, and a distinct white mark on his chest. Also, there is a robotic limb to replace the one Mina took off with her Drill color power.
"Hey Sonic, where are your friend Knuckles and his girlfriend Shade?" Thrash asked.
"Why is that your concern?" Sonic asked.
"His race must be wiped out to gain my revenge," Thrash said as Sonic and Mina looked at him oddly.
"Don't worry about my big friend here. He seeks revenge for the Echidnas who used his kind as weapons of war against each so long ago now he is one of the few Mobian Tasmanian Devils left in the world due to genetic warping in the past," Starline said as he appears along with his other minions with Kit, Surge, Cassa, and Clove beside him.
"Gee, got some new help huh?" Sonic wondered.
'Thrash, what happened to your race is awful but killing Knuckles and Shade will not give you peace," Mina said feeling sorry for him but not agreeing with what he was doing.
"It will for me. Like I have anything else to lose," Thrash said feeling sorrowfully for Starline to pat him on the shoulder.
"Don't worry, keep it with you and you will seek your peace," Starline said as he turned on his special glove to power himself up. "Now, I will make you repeat making me look like a fool rat," Starline said as suddenly a fireball launched toward them.
Clove pulls out her staff which reveals an energy sickle blade to slice up the fireball. "Who is there?" Clove demanded.
"Killing Sonic is my duty alone, he must pay for making us look like a fool before," Zavok appears along with his team the Deadly Six.
"Well, this isn't good," Mina said as they would have a problem with two villain groups at once.
"Stay out of this freaks, this is our fight," Thrash said.
"Are you threatening us?" Zeena asked.
"Yes, we are. This place is under our control. Get out before we will kill you all," Clove said.
"You are mistaken, we are the ones going to be doing the killing around here," Zavok said as the Deadly Six got into combat stances. "Deadly Six, deal with these idiots," Zavok ordered.
"Hey, that is my line," Dr. Starline ordered his minions to attack as the two villain groups were fighting each other.
"Well, this is convenient. Let's go into the ruins and find our information about the Onyx Horde and what they are," Mina said.
"Yeah, let's get out of here," Sonic said as they sped away for them to go into an opened door to be within the complex which looked very different than they expected.
"Wow, look at this," Mina said as they saw all the technology on display inside.
"This reminds me about the Shade's clan and how technologically advanced they were," Sonic said.
"Yes even to this day, nothing we have today compares to the Nocturnus Clan. The other Echidna colonies have similar levels to this," Mina said as she was very excited to be within the Twilight Cage over a year ago to learn more about the clans.
"Well, time to run and search for data," Sonic said as they rushed through the area to find themselves in an old terminal room with some of the monitors still operating.
"Seems like these computers still work, these Echidnas know how to make things last," Mina said as she went onto the keyboard to look into the screen to see lines of files appear. "Let's see if we find anything about the Onyx Horde," Mina said.
"Find anything yet?" Sonic asked.
"It's not good. The Onyx Horde is created by an Echidna clan called the Eclipse who run the original homeland Albion. This army is created to be the ultimate weapon allowing them to clone themselves endlessly overwhelming any threats," Mina said as Sonic found this pretty bad.
"That sounds awful, was it ever used?" Sonic asked.
"If it was used, the Echidnas would still be here right now. They were never used in combat and storage in a warehouse in Albion which is lost to time," Mina said.
"Any info on Albion?" he asked.
"Nope, nothing is showing up. At least we know what the Onyx Horde is going to be and what Naugus wants from it but they need a lot of power to activate which I bet is why he is going for the Chaos Emerald," Mina said as she extracted data into a storage unit. "Jewel can take a look at all this and make more sense of this," she said as they felt something behind them.
"Intruders detected, defensive systems activate," a huge machine shaped like a Rhino busted out of the walls to begin attacking them.
"Oh crap," both Mina and Sonic said as they roll to the side. The Rhino machine smashed into the terminal destroying it but Mina managed to save her data storage unit holding all the information they needed.
The Rhino Mech charges forward with Mina using her arm cannon to activate Hover to make it float above them missing them. Sonic uses a spin dash to strike the underbelly of the metal beast to knock it into a wall.
The metal Rhino stomps onto the floor unleashing a huge shockwave to knock the duo back into a wall. Sonic bounces off the surface to use s a Homing Attack to strike its left leg to cripple it with Mina firing a fireball into the wounded limb making it unable to move.
"Spike," Mina launches several spiked discs to slice off the limbs of the robot with Sonic using a Light Speed Attack to punch right through the monster mech destroying it.
"We must have tripped up a defensive system. We need to get out of here," Mina said as they saw several turrets popping out of the walls aiming right for them.
"Oh crap, let's juice out of here," Sonic said as they use their high speed to move out of the ruins with walls covered with turrets and the doors closing up behind them.
"Gee, this is getting hectic here," Mina said as they dodged incoming fire from all directions. They bounce off the walls and floor with tons of laser bolts trying to hit them. They see the doors closing in front of them as they are going to be boxed inside.
"More problems," Sonic said.
"Sonic, let's combined attack this place," Mina said as Sonic nodded his head.
"Light Speed Attack, Laser + Drill," both duo unleash their attacks to smash through all the metal doors to escape out of the death trap heading for outside.
Outside the ruins, the Deadly Six and Starline's forces are duking it out completely unaware that Mina and Sonic are missing from the area. Surge notices this as she gets punched by Zarok knocking her into a pillar. "Big brute," Surge powers up to slam into the big Zeti as a bolt of lightning,
"Hey, where are the two rats?" Zeena wondered as she got slammed by Thrash hitting her hard enough to make her bounce off the ground.
"Out of my way, you piece of crap," Thrash lets out a big scream unleashing a huge sonic boom to send Zeena flying. She uses an energy tether to latch onto a rock to pull herself onto it. She focuses on her electromagnetic powers to manipulate Thrash's robotic limb causing him pain and making him stop screaming.
Zeena lobs the rock with her energy tether to smash it into Thrash. "Better pay attention, big guy," Zeena said as she saw the walls of the ruins explode with Sonic still using his Light Speed Attack chains a series of attacks to knock out all the Deadly Six members all at once.
"Still a pack of losers Zavok," Sonic brushed them off like the jokes they are. Mina aims her arm cannon at the ruins.
"Void," Mina fires a mini black hole to begin sucking away at the ruins.
"No, you will ruin everything," Dr. Starline is panicking at this as the black hole is destroying the ruins.
"We got what we need. Time to get out of here," Mina said as the duo ran away to head back to the tornado.
"Retreat to the airship," Starline said as he was upset by the loss of the ruins.
"This is a waste of time," Clove said as they teleport back into the airship and leave the area.
Within an hour, the parts of the Echidnapolis ruins were destroyed by Mina's mini black hole. The Deadly Six wakes up from their defeat by Sonic once again.
"This bites," Zeena said as Zavok got back onto his feet to see most of the ruins were gone.
"I wonder where that energy went," Zavok wondered as he was not concerned with Zeena's discomfort.
"Hey, are you listening to me?" Zeena demanded.
"Be quiet, I am trying to focus on the energies we detected not too long ago. That is why we were here in the first place," Zavok said as Zeena pouted at this.
"Whatever, I think I have dirt on my person," Zeena said not pleased with this. They follow their leader to search for this energy source.
"Very interesting," Zavok said to see six chunks of the Master Emerald lying nearby. "How very interesting," Zavok said as they all had evil laughs for them to prepare to destroy Sonic and his friends.
