Chapter 6 Start of Training
(08:45am.)
"Hmm..." Gumball groans in frustration as he wakes up from his bad night's sleep.
Apparently, after the Undead attack at Elmore High, the students were ordered to stay home for a while for police investigations. For, after this attack, the police are more vigilant about these monsters.
"Hmm... Ouch! My body..." Gumball wriggles in his bed as he arches his back, his body sore from his last fight.
The boy gets up from his bed and walks to the mirror in his room. Looking at his reflection, he sees his bruises and the bandages on his face, as well as those under his clothes. And the dark circles under his eyes, of course.
"I think I need a bath..." Gumball mutters, turning around he leaves his room and walks towards the bathroom.
(09:10am.)
Gumball, feeling a little more refreshed after a good bath, walks down the stairs of his house and into the living room.
"What's up, anything good on TV?" Gumball asks the two on the sofa.
"Nothing much." Anais and Darwin say at the same time.
"You slept through it, didn't you?" Nicole says, walking into the living room and sitting down on the sofa with Anais and Darwin.
Nicole is at home today, because due to the Undead attack the workers with children have been released from their duties for a while.
"Yeah... right." Gumball says, rubbing his cheek.
"Dude, but where were you during the attack?" Darwin asks, turning on the sofa to look at Gumball.
"I told you, I was hiding in a closet." Gumball says, not taking much notice. He turns and walks to the kitchen.
"I saw the video of that Blade fight. And it was really cool!" Anais says excitedly. "But he didn't seem to know how to use that sword of his very well."
"Sure, that thing weighs a lot!" Darwin says, raising his arms.
"Wait, you took that sword?" Anais asks in surprise.
"Yes." Darwin replies.
"And when do you think it weighed?" Anais asks as she approaches Darwin.
"I'm not sure, I think about 6 kilos?" Darwin says, trying to remember.
"Six kilos? Then he must be pretty strong to swing that sword so easily..." Anais puts a hand to her chin thoughtfully.
"Well, at least he managed to kill that thing and keep you all safe!" Nicole says as she strokes Anais' hair.
"Anais, you said he didn't know how to use a sword well, didn't you?" Gumball says, entering the room while eating a piece of toast.
"Yes, because he doesn't seem to know the first thing about fencing." Anais says while remembering the video on TikTok.
"I see..." Gumball looks at his hand and mutters. "Fencing..."
"Guys!" Ricardo says excitedly as he enters the house. "Guess what I brought?!"
"Pastry?" Darwin says.
"Hamburger?" Anais says.
"Cupcakes?" Gumball says.
Strangely, they're all food.
"No. It's something better!" Ricardo says excitedly as he walks into the living room and reaches into his pocket, pulling out five movie tickets. "I got five tickets for the new Avengers movie!"
"Really!?" Gumball, Darwin and Anais shout in excitement.
"Avengers Infinity War?! The new movie!?" Darwin says as he moves around looking very anxious and excited on the sofa.
"This is going to be the best movie ever!" Gumball shouts as he drops to his knees on the floor and spreads his arms.
"Wait, let me see if they're real." Anais says, walking over to her father and picking up the tickets.
"Ricardo, where did you get these tickets?" Nicole asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh, I got them from a guy wearing a black cloak who looked very suspicious, but very trustworthy!" Ricardo says proudly.
Nicole rolls her eyes and slaps herself in the face.
"Yes, they're real!" Anais says and the two boys approach her.
"What do you say we go to the movies?" Darwin says excitedly.
"No." Nicole says sighing.
"Why?!" The four of them say at the same time.
"Besides being too dangerous because of these new monsters, we don't have much money to spend on movies." Nicole says while frowning.
"Please, please!" The four of them get down on their knees begging for permission.
"The answer is still no." Nicole says until she hears a knock on the door.
"Mail!" A male voice says and a letter comes through the letter slot in the door.
Gumball walks to the door and picks up the letter. Giving a big smile, he walks over to Nicole and shows her the letter with the B.O.A.R.D stamp.
"Now what?" Gumball gives a slight smile as he shows Nicole his payment letter.

(01:15pm.)
"Now what? Where are we going?" Darwin says while carrying a bucket of popcorn.
"If I'm not mistaken, the next screening is that way!" Gumball points to the mall's movie theater while eating a lollipop.
"We should thank Gumball for doing a great job and getting paid early!" Anais says while being carried on Ricardo's shoulders.
"Yes!" Ricardo says with a twinkle in his eye. "And we can also buy lots of sweets and snacks!" Ricardo lifts a bucket of popcorn, fine candies, coca cola and some more sweets.
"I'd rather spend that money on a household bill." Nicole says, rubbing her forehead in frustration. "But since it's Gumball's money, he decides how to spend it."
"Thanks, Mom!" Gumball goes over to Nicole and gives her a tight hug.
"I think the session's about to start!" Ricardo says, indicating the people entering the theater.
"Let's go, let's go!" Darwin says excitedly as he runs into the theater.

The Watterson Family enter the cinema and sit down in their seats.
"I still can't believe those tickets were real!" Anais as she eats her popcorn.
"We have Gumball to thank for that!" Darwin as he wriggles anxiously in his seat.
"What's the matter, guys? No thanks necessary!" Gumball says with a slight blush on his cheeks.
"Shhh! It's about to start!" Nicole says, pointing to the screen.
Everyone in the movie theater is silent. They watch the trailers, chat and eat their snacks. Until, finally, it starts.
"Look! It's started!" Darwin says a little loudly.
Everyone in the movie theater goes "Shhh!" To Darwin, and he gets a little embarrassed.
"It's started!" Gumball mutters and the whole family pays attention to the big screen.
The screen shows the ship the Asgardians were on. Moving on to Thanos' lines.
Everyone sighs at the sight of the dead Asgardians. With Darwin worrying even more.
"Why did he do that?" Darwin says a little nervously.
"Because he's the villain and he wants the Tesseract that Loke stole." Anais says, paying attention to the camera.
The scene moves on to the fight between the Hulk and Thanos, with the whole theater excited and screaming with excitement, but then everyone shudders as they see the Hulk beaten and knocked down by Thanos.
"He's stronger than the Hulk!" Darwin says nervously.
"No wonder he's called the Mad Titan!" Ricardo says as he eats his popcorn.
"He defeated the Hulk and Thor! Now what?" Gumball says nervously as he continues to eat his snacks.
Gumball continues eating while watching the movie, but suddenly, Gumball feels a weight on his body. His body feels like it weighs tons.
"What is it..." Gumball begins to feel tired, as his eyes begin to close, his arms go limp and his legs fail him. He slowly... falls asleep.

(04:00pm)
"Gumball! Gumball!" A female voice speaks, calling for the boy.
"Hmm..." Gumball mumbles, getting up from something that looks like a bed and looking away. "Mom?..." Gumball says rubbing his eyes tiredly.
"Gumball, are you okay? You ended up sleeping through the day." Nicole says grabbing a glass of water from the cupboard next to the bed.
"Did I miss the movie?..." Gumball mutters, picking up the glass and drinking the water.
"You went to sleep and wouldn't wake up for anything. So we came home and put you to bed." Nicole says, sitting down next to Gumball.
"I ruined the movies for you, didn't I?" Gumball says a little sheepishly.
"No, darling." Nicole hugs Gumball. "There are always other times, you don't have to blame yourself!" Nicole rubs Gumball's ears, making him purr.
"Mom! Stop it, I'm not a child anymore!" Gumball is a little embarrassed.
"To me, you'll always be my child!" Nicole rubs Gumball's head. "Get some rest, will you?" Nicole smiles and says goodbye to Gumball. She leaves the room and goes downstairs to the kitchen.
"Mom..." Gumball mumbles and looks down at his hands. "My mother, my father, my brother, my sister..." Gumball thinks of his family and remembers why he took this job. "Yes, the Undead!" Gumball clenches his fist. "I won't let the Undead hurt my family and friends!"
Gumball quickly gets out of bed and goes to the PC, dedicated to finding a way not to get tired after using the Rider System.
"Let's see..." Gumball flips through pages and blogs. "Physical exercise? Hm..."
(Night.)
(06:00am.)
"I'm going to my room, Dad!" Darwin says as he climbs the stairs. Entering his room, he is surprised by what he sees. "Gumball, what are you doing?.."
Darwin sees Gumball without his sweater and doing the plank exercise on his bedroom floor.
"Training..." Gumball mumbles as he continues.
"And why are you doing that?" Darwin asks, still confused.
"To have more... stamina..." Gumball struggles to hold on, but his body gives way. "Ahhh... that's very painful."
"É... it must be." Darwin walks over to his bed and sits on it. "Mom talked to the school. It looks like we won't be having lessons for a week and a half."
"Really?" Gumball quickly gets up, but forgets about the pain in his stomach.
"Do you really want to do this?" Darwin asks.
"Yes." Gumball replies as he lies on the floor. "I need to do this to build up my stamina and... do some things."
"You didn't pick a fight with anyone, did you?" Darwin asks with a raised eyebrow.
"No... it's for something else." Gumball looks away from Darwin.
"Ah, so you want to look more attractive for Penny!" Darwin says excitedly as he punches his own fist.
"What?!" Gumball is embarrassed by the statement.
"Yeah, yeah! I knew it!" Darwin says, getting up from the bed and approaching Gumball. "You really like her!"
"Yes!... Yes, I like her." Gumball says thanking him and cursing the answer.
"Right! Then I'll go with you!" Darwin says, taking off his orange jacket.
"Wait, what?" Gumball says confused.
"What? We're going to train together! How cool is that?" Darwin gives Gumball a smile.
"Okay..." Gumball finds it a bit strange, but decides to accept.
"Right! Where do we start?" Darwin asks.

Note: I don't want to depart too much from the world of the original work, so some students and characters will still have their powers.
