Do You Miss Your Old Life?

*Tails Workshop*

"Glad to see you again, Sonic. It's been a little since you returned here. Has it gotten much busier in Chaldea since the last time?" Tails asks

"*Resting On The Couch* You're right about that. Much busier. I'm doing everything I can to prevent Chaldea from being a wasteland... You should see how many Servers get into each other's throats daily. It's quite an experience." Sonic replies

"No doubt in that. I've seen how powerful the Servants are. You don't want to mess with them in any way." Tails commented

"They are great fighters during battles. But behind the scenes, it's a different kind of topic. I have a lot of stories to tell you what happens when no one is looking." Sonic stated

"I'd like to hear them at some point. Be prepared in case I ever visit Chaldea myself one of these days." Tails stated

"Yeah. So, what's been happening here while I was gone? Eggman doing his usual stuff again?" Sonic asks

"Eggman recently attacked Station Square again. Thankfully, we managed to care for him before more damage was caused across the city." Tails mention

"Guess he's getting too comfortable causing mayhem since I don't show up that often anymore. I'll visit him whenever he decides to show himself again. Give him a reality check." Sonic said

"Yeah, it's been different since you made your way to that place a couple of years ago. It was weird initially, but we've been getting used to it for a bit now." Tails explains

"Sounds like you guys have been getting stronger and dealing with Egghead more easily. That makes me glad you guys are here to keep this place safe while I'm away." Sonic, Surprised

"We've been doing whatever we can. It's not easy, of course, but we're trying our best. Speaking of things, Sonic. Can I ask you something?" Tails asks

"Sure thing, Tails. What's in your mind?" Sonic questions

"Don't think of this as some offense. But I would like to know your opinion about this question. And that question is, how do you feel as a Master? Are you happy with your new life? Do you miss the times before you became a Master?" Tails asks

"*Slowly Stood Up From The Couch* Oh boy. Now, that's a question indeed. You wanna hear my opinion on how I feel about everything?" Sonic replies

"I just wanna know what you think about everything from your perspective. You weren't familiar with this before or the task of being a Master. Do you feel satisfied about where everything landed you on?" Tails, Questioning Sonic's Decision

"Well, let's get the more obvious things out. My life has been much busier than before; now, I have to keep two worlds safe from Eggman and whatever happens where Chaldea is home. I don't get as much free time as well, only when we aren't doing missions, and those are short periods also. I have to keep watch of the Servants. And make sure I take care of my mental state, as told to me by Kiara." Sonic replies

"Fascinating. Do you miss the old life you used to have? Do you think everything could go back to normal? I know it's a weird question that I'm asking, but..."

"I love this current life of mine, Tails. Although it's more work for me, being a Master did have some benefits. One was the many friends I made and my new adventures there. I know it's not uncommon to see someone like me, who sleeps every day and usually works this much by himself now. But I do enjoy how everything has been going. I don't regret a single thing about it." Sonic admits

"I'm glad things are swell for you, Sonic. But Kiara is right in that department; you must check your health more often. We don't want you going through multiple burnouts and hurting yourself so quickly. It's not so bad to take a break every so often. I'm sure everyone else would understand." Tails stated

"Well, mostly everyone. You should see when Kriemhild ranted about Siegfried for about an hour. I tell them she has quite the hatred for him despite me not knowing anything about marriage. I was letting her take out her rage and speak her mind. I didn't cut her off once during it." Sonic commented

"Right... Sometimes, I forget that everyone is different when you aren't busy saving the world and all that... Does she hate him?" Tails asks

"She likes to express her hatred for his decisions before they were Servants but always falls back to her romantic side each time Siegfried is around her. Funny if you ask me." Sonic stated

"Maybe they should seek some marriage counselor for their predicament. It's a good way to start." Tails added

"I'll talk to Kiara about it once I return to Chaldea. But yeah, Chaldea has changed me for the better. Thanks to everyone there, I grew to be the Hedgehog I am."

"You being more lazy?" Tails questions

"Oh, come on, Tails, you didn't need to steep that low towards me."

"Sorry, I couldn't help myself."

"Hmmm... What else can I say? Do I feel weirded out that I'm also humanity's last Master? That still hasn't crossed my mind yet. There were supposed to be more Masters when I first arrived in Chaldea. But thanks to that incident that occurred the same day I showed up, and with the candidates injured. I accidentally took their spot and became a Master myself. I swear that I didn't mean to do that at all. I was saving anyone who was injured at that time... I still feel bad doing that, to be honest." Sonic commented

"I'm sure all of them wouldn't mind letting you become one of them, Sonic. You proved to everyone that you got what it takes to become a Master yourself. " Tails, Assuring Sonic

"Even without proper training?"

"That remains to be debated... Honestly, I don't know much about Magecraft besides the word being thrown around by the Servants when I'm around. It does sound interesting, though; I might ask about one of these days. But that's beside the point; you're doing fine with how things are going. Despite us being different from them, they don't mind if you take their spots." Tails said

"Thanks, Tails; I needed to hear those words from you. Hey, how would you like it if you became a Master yourself? Wouldn't that be a great opportunity for you, buddy?" Sonic asks

"I think someone else deserves that spot more than me—someone like Ritsuka or Ms. Ritsuka deserves that place." Tails stated

"Yeah, maybe one day for them. Maybe one day."

"Hey, what's with the chitchatting here? Eggman decides to show himself again and attempts to steal the Master Emerald again!" Knuckles, Entering The Workshop

"Eggman is at it again? Hmph! He's in a lot of trouble when we see him!" Tails exclaimed

"Hehe~ I missed these kinds of times, though. Why don't we pay Egghead a little visit? Give him a warm welcome." Sonic asks

"Would be great if we got some backup right now." Knuckles commented

"Don't worry, Knux. I got it all covered. Now, come on, it's time to scramble this Egg! Like that joke? Had that saved for a while now." Sonic asks

"Could be better." Tails replies

"Yeah, too cheesy. I need to come up with a better catchphrase. Meh, I'll think about it on the way towards Angel Island. Anyway, let's get going!"
