Chapter 44: Emerald Hunt Pt 2
Cassia is in the medical wing for she gets a call from her older sister Clove on the radio. "Hello Sis," Cassia said.
"Thank goodness, keep inside the medical bay," Clove said as Cassia was confused by this.
"Oh, why?" Cassia asked as Clove wanted to keep it vague due to Starline tapping their comlinks.
"Just saying, just stay secure in the medical wing. I send some friends to pick you up," Clove said.
"Are you coming back?" she asked.
"Yes, I will see you soon. You will be better and be in a safer place," Clove said as Cassia looked over to see a young girl lying on the medical bed fast asleep.
"Okay," Cassia said as she turned off the radio. She walked over to see the young girl resting there.
"I have never seen you before," Cassia said as she remembered this young Mobian armadillo searching around Starline's base but her big sister found her and knocked her out bringing her here. She feels uneasy about locking up the door so no one can get inside before her big sister's special friends show up.
Elsewhere Surge and Kit are heading for Starline's base to confront the doctor as she calls Cassia on the radio. "Yo Cass, where is the doctor now?" she asked on her comlink.
"Well, he is in his office why?" Cassia asked as Surge and Kit had a nasty laugh.
"No reason just wanted to give him a piece of my mind," Surge said as Cassia felt ill from the venomous sting in her voice.
"Sure," Cassia said as Surge cut off the radio to head inside the base.
"What do we do?" Kit asked.
"I will talk with the doctor and then I will make him pay for everything he has done to us," Surge said.
"Prepare for anything sis," Kit said as Surge pauses to feel weird hearing this.
"What did you say?" Surge asked.
"Sis, you are like my big sister," Kit said as Surge felt her cheeks getting rosy from this.
"Oh, that was different," Surge said as she grew attached to this little blue fox. "Well after we kill Starline and Sonic, we can move somewhere and start fresh," Surge said.
"Yeah, I am with you all the way," Kit said as they went through the hallways to head for Starline's office.
The doctor is checking on the Chaos Emerald and the Master Emerald Chunk on his desk. He hears the door opening from behind him. Starline is confused about why they are there. "I thought I ordered you two to search for more emerald shards," Starline said.
"Time to fuss up doctor, why did you do all these things to me?" Surge demanded as Starline was concerned with this.
"It doesn't matter, do as you are done," Starline said as Surge raised her hand to power it up with electricity.
"Talk, why did you make me kill my whole village?" Surge demanded as Starline was not hiding his cruel smile any longer.
"So, you somehow managed to get your memories back. I thought I was pretty thoughtful about it but that isn't the case," Starline triggers a button on his glove to make their cybernetics depower making her helpless and unable to move.
"What the hell?" Surge asked.
"Thankfully; I have a backup plan. I am going to purge your memories and make sure you can't remember anything but I will humor you before I do it," Starline said as Surge and Kit were trying to move but Starline froze them in place. "I wanted you to kill your village and your family because I needed you to test your new powers via your cybernetics. A test run and you were a thing of beauty out there. Killing every single people even the children as well. Everyone in that village including your family was killed because of you," Starline mocked her as Surge for she is getting pissed with this.
"You bastard!" Surge begins to power up as her emotions overwhelm Starline's control. Lightning energy is flowing out of Surge's body with Starline is getting worried about losing control over her again.
"Gee, you are becoming more trouble than you are worth. You are now a broken weapon and I will start over again. I am going to trigger your cybernetics to explode and take you out," Starline is about to press a button to make Surge explode but Kit is getting angry at this.
"Don't you dare hurt my big sister," Kit activates his hydrokinesis to stop Starline within his track.
"What the hell, how are you doing this?" Starline demanded. Kit has power over Starline's body by controlling him using his blood.
"I can bend you because blood mostly consists of water," Kit said as he was drunk on the power with Starline didn't see this coming for Kit had a weirdly devilish smile enjoying having control over Starline.
"Looks like the tables have turned doctor, Kit let's make him suffer," Surge said as she charged up her lightning powers uttering dark laughter with Starline being beyond helpless. Surge leashes out arcs of lightning for the doctor is screaming in pain as the electricity is frying his body while Kit is twisting and breaking his body turning him into a meat pretzel.
His bones snap, his limbs bend in different directions, and patches of his fur are destroyed revealing his burned flesh. Surge begins to increase the power of her lightning to keep shocking Starline until he is dead becoming nothing more than a twisted burned corpse on the floor.
Surge is surprised to see Kit wielding such a dark power. "Wow, did know you had it in you," Surge sounded impressed as Kit felt empowered by this.
"Yeah, it felt so good," Kit had a power trip as he felt more alive than before. Surge grabs the Chaos Emerald to take back to Naugus for their exit out of there.
"Well, we are going to need it. Once we kill Sonic, I can be free from this shadow forever," Surge said as the sensors detected intruders nearby the base.
"Seems like they are coming here now. Time to get your payback big sister," Kit said.
"Yes, that stupid hedgehog is the reason why I am even here. Once he is done, we can do what we want," Surge said as she had a devilish smile for the villainous duo to go confront Sonic, Mina, Knuckles, and Mighty.
The four have reached Dr. Starline's fortress to see if the alerts are going off. "That isn't good," Mighty said as he ran off to find clues about his sister with Knuckles, Sonic, and Mina following after him.
"Not so fast," a large bolt of lightning shot from the sky. The four avoid the strike with Surge and Kit leaping off the building to confront the four fighters. "So Sonic, I finally get to properly fight you now," Surge said.
"You must be Starline's minions. where is he?" Sonic asked as Surge tossed something at Sonic's feet to see Starline's severed burned head. The four were beyond shocked by this as Surge and Kit had evil smiles.
"Dead by our hands. Freeing ourselves from his services," Surge said.
"Gee, Starlight's little monsters," Mina said as she remembered their dark looks when she last fought them before. "You are insane," Mina said as she began to power up by her getting into a combat stance.
"I don't need your opinion, what I need is your boyfriend being dead by my hands," Surge said as she zapped bolts of lightning with everyone scattering apart. "The doctor made me into a cyborg to put Sonic down and I am tied to this role until you are dead Sonic. Once this happens, I will not have that shadow hanging over me anymore and I can move on to another life," Surge said as she brought lightning blades from her hands to begin slashing at Sonic.
He dodges her attacks but sees the surrounding trees were chopped in half pretty easily with Knuckles aiding Sonic in his battle to punch Surge into a tree. She catches herself in mid-air and lands on the tree blasting lightning bolts with Knuckles using his Thunder Arrows to match her attacks.
Knuckle charges up his fists to slam onto the ground unleashing a shockwave to knock Surge backward as Sonic hits her with a Homing Attack. He then follows up with a downward kick to knock her onto the grass.
She powers up her lightning to increase her speed as Sonic matches her for them to tackle each other using their Spin Dash. They keep hitting each other which cancels out every time until Sonic swiftly evades her Spin Dash to kick her into a tree.
"I got no beef with you girl," Sonic said as he kicked her several times and knocked her into the air with Knuckle leaps over her. He slams both fists into her back to send her back to the dirt. She lands on her feet to begin launching several bolts of lightning as they both avoid her attacks.
"I have beef with you blue boy, you are the very reason why I am even here. That doctor took me in to make me into a weapon without my consent to kill you. This will hang over my head for the rest of my life until I kill you Sonic. Then I can move on," Surge said.
"Moving on to be murderer," Knuckles scolds her as Surge uses her Lightning Dash to tackle Knuckles to give him a deadly shock.
"I don't need your scold, I need your heads," Surge said as she summons lightning into her hands to pound the ground unleashing a wave of electricity and pushing them both backward.
Kit is fighting Mighty and Mina who is avoiding his blasts of water with the blue fox pulling water from his aqua backpack making tendrils of hydro.
"Why are you helping her?" Mina asked as she was shooting fireballs to vaporize his water tentacles. Kit leashes out with water orbs and tentacles.
"She looked after me when I was left alone. She is like a big sister, I want to protect her and make her dream a reality," Kit begins to trap Mighty in a bubble trying to drown him in the water. Mina uses Spike and performs a Spin Dash to slam into Kit knocking him into a tree with Mighty getting out of the bubble.
"Thanks," Mighty curls into an armored ball. Mina hits Kit with a Hover making him helplessly float in midair. She kicks Mighty for he slams into Kit in his ball form to knock him into a lake.
Kit twisters the lake to emit tons of bubbles to lob them at Mina and Mighty. Mina summons a wall of stone to block the incoming explosive water orbs with Kit firing a large water laser. Mina summons another stone wall and makes it skirt towards Kit blocking the laser which was vastly weaker compared to Naugus's Aqua Laser spell.
She makes the wall explode to knock him out of the lake with Mighty grabbing him and tossing him into a tree. He delivers a powerful kick that breaks the tree in half with Kit getting onto the grass to take some severe damage.
"Kit," Surge said worried about him with Knuckles scoring a powerful blow onto her gut making her fly towards Kit. She spits blood onto the ground for them both too badly injured. "Damn it," Surge said as she is unable to move.
"Big sis," Kit said as he was on his knees for his water backpack was destroyed and no available water could be used as a weapon.
"Okay, it's over. We are going to knock you out and you both will be locked away for a long time," Sonic said.
"No, I can't go back now," Surge said as Knuckles approached her to raise his fist about to knock her out cold.
"No," Kit shouted to raise his hands to activate his hydrokinesis to control Knuckles' blood to stop him cold.
"Knuckles," Mighty said as Kit stops Mina, Sonic, and Mighty to lock them in place.
"How is this possible?" Sonic asked.
"Well, I can use my cybernetics to control water and since blood is mostly made of water," Kit said as Mina hears this, they are screwed.
"This is very bad," Mina said as she felt the muscles in her legs beginning to strain with Kit having a nasty look on his face.
"I can control everything in your body and even make your muscles die like your heart," Kit said as he felt the deep power of having control over others and began to start with Sonic.
"Sonic, no!" Mina is going to cry to know what is about to happen for Sonic feels his heart beginning to act funny.
"Prepare to die Sonic, with you dead. Surge can be free from her pain," Kit said as Surge looked at Kit to feel touched by him to act like her real little brother.
"Kit," Surge said as then suddenly a grenade came nearby to emit bright light to blind everyone in view. Clove comes in with her energy scythe in hand to appear behind Kit to slice his head off to break his hold on the four fighters.
"Little demon," Clove said as Kit's body lay on the ground with Surge being shocked by the death of her only friend.
"Kit," Surge looks speechless to see Kit's head roll towards her knee and his headless corpse just lying in the grass growing cold. Surge begins to cry as the emerald reacts to her emotional pain. "Kit!" Surge explodes with power for the Chaos Emerald begins to empower her to overwhelm her senses. Lightning energy overflows from her body to push Mina, Sonic, Mighty, Knuckles, and Clove.
"Clove?" Mina asked.
"I overheard on the radio and I was tracking you down to watch from afar but I needed to intervene as you can see," Clove said as Surge's fur was beginning to become dark purple and her crying eyes dulled until there were no more pupils anymore.
"Clove, you bitch. I am going to kill you, I am going kill you and everyone here," Surge said as she entered into a Dark state.
"Sonic, she looked like you when we were fighting the Metarex when I got seriously hurt," Mina said as she remembered that day like a bad dream. Mina was put in a very tough spot and Sonic unleashed a new dark form trying to save her from the Metarex and their devilish trap.
"Yeah, that was pretty bad but Surge is going through that now," Sonic said as Surge tapped into the negative Chaos energy from the emerald in her bag to be in this Dark form. Surge goes in to slam her fist into Clove's chest to launch her into the tree breaking it in half on impact.
Surge is engulfed with black electricity as she swiftly takes Clove's metal arm and slams her multiple times onto the ground creating a deeper crater with each hit. She makes a blade of lightning in her hand to sever her metal arm clean off as Clove gets kicked by the lake.
"She is out of control," Mina transforms into her Rainbow state with her aura blazing with rainbow colors, her long hair being spiky and glowing shades of the rainbow, her eyes turning silver, and her fur becoming white. "I will handle this, secure the base," Mina said as she engaged Surge with her using her Ivory Color power allowing her to become immune to Surge's lightning attacks.
"Die you pop idol bitch," Surge rushes at Mina to punch her in the face but Mina avoids her blows using her raw speed to wait until she burns out.
"Stop it now, you are not handling the power well," Mina said as she saw Surge looking very unstable with her new powers.
"Shut up as if you care. As anyone cares," Surge begins to assault her but Mina is easily batting her away. Surge is using her lightning blades to hit Mina several times but they have no effect whatsoever. "Why can't I kill you?" she questioned.
"It's over, your cybernetics will overload at this rate. Burst + Laser," Mina unleashes a powerful beam of flames to slam into Surge to send her flying across the fields to slam into the building leaving a huge dent in the wall.
"Damn it, even with this power. I can't win," Surge said as her body started to fail her with the power overwhelming her senses. "I can't win but I am going to take you down and go after your boyfriend," Surge said as Mina looked very serious.
"That is not going to happen Surge," Mina said as she conjured Plasma orbs to seek out Surge. She tries to run from the attacks but they score their hits causing some major damage. Surge uses her speed to head for Mina to punch her in the face but Mina doesn't flinch from this.
Surge now understands the gap in power between them is too great as Mina increases the power of her kick to have enough force to break Surge's rib cage.
"Damn it," Surge unleashes a huge beam of electricity to hit Mina but her Ivory Color power negates this leaving her unharmed. Surge is on her knees for cybernetics can't take much more punishment for they begin to burst with power. "No, no, no!" Surge screams in pain as her body explodes in a pillar of energy.
Mina looks on to see the cyborg can't handle her new dark powers and kills herself in the process. "What a shame," Mina said as she depowered down back to normal. The others secured the area with them looking at the two cyborgs lying on the ground dead.
"Good riddance, those two are sick little bastards. Dr. Starline twisted them into monsters and it was better they got put down before they became bigger threats," Clove said as Mina saw the twisted looks in their eyes with their innocence destroyed a long time ago.
"Well, that is taken care of. Time to grab my Master Emerald and get it back to normal again," Knuckles said as they went inside with Mina, Clove, and Mighty heading for the medical wing while Sonic and Knuckles headed for Starline's office to find the Master Emerald chuck to be the last piece Knuckles needs.
"Nice, we got the last one," Sonic said as Knuckles took the green chunk and put it into his bag.
"Good, I can finally get my island back into the air again," Knuckles said.
"I wonder if they have a Chaos Emerald since the Master Emerald chuck is here. Then Surge must have one but she doesn't have it with her dead body," Sonic said.
"Must have been blown away by the explosion. I can't sense its energy within the area," Knuckles said.
"Well, it will turn up later anyway," Sonic said as Mina, Mighty, and Clove came into the medical wing for a young teen deer female came in to hug her big sister.
"Clove, you are here," Cassia said to be very happy to see her.
"We are here to take you out of here," Clove said.
'What about the girl?" Cassia asked as she pointed to a short female Mobian armadillo with a green shell and sporting a simple grey dress along with large robotic arms.
"Matilda," Mighty goes over to see her sister is still asleep. "Finally, I managed to find you," Mighty said as he took her into his arms for them to get out of there.
"Thanks for this Mina, we are grateful for your help," Clove and Cassia bow their heads.
"Yes, no problem. Remember go to GUN and get help there," Mina said as everyone got out of the area to complete their mission to get all the Master Emerald pieces.
Elsewhere Naugus is within the forest to find the Chaos Emerald that Surge once had in her bag. "Too bad young lady but now it's mine. Four on my end, two for the Quickster and his team while the last one is under Snively's control," Naugus said as he was contacted by Infinite via psychic link.
"Sir, we managed to find the city of Albion within the data files you have gotten from Starline," Infinite said as Naugus had a smile on his face.
"Really, where is it?" Naugus asked.
"It's to the far north near the Northern Tundra aka the North Pole," Infinite said as Naugus is getting excited about this for his goals are getting very close now.
"Excellent, I will get my army soon. Begin to shift our operations there, we have a lot of work to do," Naugus said as he felt his plans were almost close to completion.
