chapter 3: Present Day
10 years later...
Mirabel was now 15 years old, a young woman, BUT, of course, she was kind of viewed as the odd one out in her own family, since she was the only born Madrigal without a gift of her own.
She now had to stay in the nursery, since she didn't have her own room.
And her abuela turned cold and harsh on her.
Her own family didn't even have much time for her as she grew. Despite this, she still cared about her family; after all, she loved her family, and she wouldn't have her family any other way.
And when Antonio was born, he stayed in the nursery with her, since he wouldn't get his gift till his 5th birthday.
Throughout it all, Mirabel always stayed positive about things.
And when she could, she visited her uncle Bruno, who often retreated to his hidden room behind the walls of Casita, where he made rat telenovelas, with some of the rats in Casita.
She remembered that her abuela had told her to be careful of her uncle Bruno's visions - some of them were said to bring misfortune on people - like a lady's fish dying, Osvaldo the delivery man growing a gut, and Senor Flores, the priest of the Encanto's church, going bald.
Even so, her mind was still focused on Bruno's vision that had happened on the night of her gift ceremony.
Why did it show a different person instead of her?
Was it the reason why she didn't get a gift?
And what on earth were all the strange chicken things and floating eggs in the vision?
She remembered some of the chickens in the Encanto's farm, where her sister Luisa was often seen, rounding up stray donkeys that often escaped. But those chickens DID NOT look like those in the Encanto. No.
And the eggs they laid certainly didn't float.
'What on earth does it mean?!' Mirabel thought to herself.
Little did Mirabel realize that the answer to her unanswered questions was about to come...
One day, very, very soon...
