On the morning of September 1st, Brooklyn opened his eyes and yawned, stretching out, seeing he was still in his room at the Leaky Cauldron, spotting Harry lying down in his bed still asleep. It had been rather busy for the two brothers the past few days which included exploring Diagon Alley. Harry felt even happier than when he still stayed at the Dursleys. They even looked through a lot of Harry's school supplies too which had Harry once accidentally shooting magic out of his wand, Tom coming and saying no underage magic before the first year is to be allowed.
Brooklyn grins down at the younger human, going over to shake him lightly to wake him up. "Hey buddy, almost time to go to Hogwarts." He said gently, making Harry groan, opening his eyes, feeling excited and awake now. "Already?"
The red gargoyle nods, pointing to their calendar. Harry gets quickly out of bed, putting on some of his new travel/casual clothes he and Brooklyn got in Diagon Alley. Harry had thrown out his old hand me down ones once getting settled into their new room.
Eventually the two brothers made their way down the stairs from their room after a lot of packing, seeing that the Leaky Cauldron was rather packed but then something struck Brook and Harry; they both had no idea how to get to the train station from here. Hagrid hadn't given them any directions at all.
"Well, uh, kind of a minor setback, but maybe Tom can help us." Brooklyn pointed out, Harry nodding as the two went up to the front desk, seeing Tom in his usual place, Brooklyn ringing the bell on the counter.
Tom looked to them with his smile. "Ah, young Mr. Potter and his protector. What can I do for you? Off to Hogwarts I assume?" He asked noting the suitcase and the two caged owls.
Brooklyn nods in earnest. "Uh, yeah, but we have no idea how to get there ourselves. Is there some kind of quick way without needing to travel all the way to King's Cross in a Muggle car? As you can see I kinda stand out among humans." He said.
Tom chuckled. "I think I have just the ticket for you both." He pulls out a small jar with some gray silver looking powder in it. Brooklyn tilted his head in curiosity, as was Harry. "This is called Floo Powder. Just throw it into the fireplace over there and the flames should take you right to platform 9 and 3 quarters. Just make sure you say the name of the location right or else you will come out of the wrong fireplace."
Harry swallows from that revelation as Brooklyn takes the Floo Powder, feeling relieved they didn't have to find their way to King's Cross and get lost. "Thanks, we'll make sure we remember. See you hopefully at the end of the year."
The bartender bows his head at them, Brooklyn holding Harry's hand and heading over to the large fireplace thankfully big enough for them both. "So... you ready?" Brooklyn asked Harry who was shaking but nods, eager to get onto the train. "Yes."
Brooklyn throws the powder into the flames which had them turn green, startling Brooklyn at first before soon adjusting him and Harry in the fireplace alongside their things and their owls. Brooklyn steadied himself, before speaking "Platform 9 and 3 quarters!" He shouted, hearing Harry shout out the same thing.
It felt like he was being shot through a drain pipe; the powder sending Harry and Brooklyn through the portal that would take them to the location, Brooklyn spotting other fireplaces alongside him. But the spinning made him feel sick so he shut his eyes tight, rather glad now they didn't eat a whole breakfast before doing this.
After a dizzying ride, the two finally fell out of the fireplace, Brooklyn coughing ash out of his throat, Harry wiping his glasses, looking rather dizzy too as the two of them heard the whistle of the train. It was by now almost 10:40, close to the time they had to be on. Brooklyn stared in awe at the big scarlet engine of the Hogwarts Express, feeling weirded out by the fact that they were actually going to Hogwarts now but then they spotted a family going by who all had flaming red hair.
They had also noticed an older woman with a younger boy the same age as Harry who was looking desperate. "Gran, I've lost my toad again." The boy moaned. The elder woman shook her head. "Oh, Neville..." Brooklyn rolled his eyes lightly until noting the red haired family leaving.
Brooklyn nudged Harry signaling him to follow the big family, though the two had a dickens of a time with their suitcase which was heavier than Brooklyn anticipated, wishing he had the broader muscles of his leader. Brook grunted while trying to lift up the trunk, only for it to fall down on his foot, making him curse out loud, Harry snorting a little until they heard voices.
"Need a hand?" Brook and Harry turned about to see two twin boys who were from the red headed family. "Yes, that would be great!" Brooklyn grunts, rubbing his foot while the first twin called his brother over. "Hey, Fred! C'mere!"
The second twin arrived, Brooklyn getting ready to also lift the trunk while Harry watched, seeing the twins being able to lift the thing into the luggage compartment in a nice corner. Brooklyn wiped his forehead while Harry grins at the twins. "Thanks guys."
Fred shrugs. "No problem. But— whoa... you're really a gargoyle aren't ya?" The twin exclaimed at the sight of Brooklyn's almost dinosaur like wings and large beak.
Brooklyn froze but then nods. "Yeah. And this is my brother Harry."
Just hearing that name made the twins gawk in awe even further, Harry hiding a little behind Brooklyn until the voice of a woman came. "Fred? George? Are you there?"
"Coming, mum!" Fred shouted. "We'll see you guys on the train then." He said, waving to the duo who waved back at him. Brooklyn didn't mind those twins too much even if they stared a lot.
Brooklyn next walked with Harry towards an empty compartment seat, sitting down by the window where they watched the red headed family getting ready. Brooklyn chuckled softly at the sight of how the twins teased what looked like the elder brother and the mother wiped the younger boy's nose.
Suddenly he heard the twins again. "Hey, mom, guess what? Guess who we just met on the train?"
Brooklyn saw Harry lean back so the family couldn't see him. "Who?"
"Harry Potter! And he had a gargoyle protector with him!"
The younger girl nearby gave a little squeal. "Oh mom, can I go on the train and see him, mom, pleaaase?!"
The mother shook her head. "The poor boy isn't something you goggle at in a zoo Ginny. Is he really Fred? And how is the gargoyle his protector?"
Fred and George both nodded. "Asked him, saw his scar, it's really there—like lightning."
Brooklyn saw the mother look concerned. "Poor dear. No wonder his parents weren't there but I'm glad that he had the gargoyle to protect him." It made Brook smile slightly that the mother was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt.
Suddenly the twins had another more serious question. "Never mind that, do you think he remembers what You-Know-Who looks like?"
That made the mother awfully stern. "I forbid you to ask him, Fred. No, don't you dare. As though he needs reminding of that on his first day of school."
Harry and Brooklyn both roll their eyes since they've both been through a lot already that being reminded about You-Know-Who wouldn't be so traumatizing at all. Brooklyn heard the whistle blow at that moment. The train was about to leave.
"Hurry up!" The mother exclaimed, Brooklyn seeing the three boys clambering onto the train. After kissing their mother goodbye, Brooklyn began to feel the train moving, his heart thumping. They were finally on their way to Hogwarts.
He watched Ginny the little red haired girl crying while chasing after the train before soon it gathered a lot of speed, the girl and her mother now out of sight.
The red gargoyle turned over to Harry, who was looking both excited and nervous about this, wondering what Hogwarts would be like.
Suddenly the door to their compartment opened up and Brooklyn saw the youngest brother with red hair show up. "Anyone else besides you guys sitting there? Everywhere else is full."
Harry shook his head as Brooklyn changed his seat to sit by his brother instead, leaving the other seat for the boy.
The boy was a little bit unnerved by the sight of the gargoyle but figured it was better than having no seat, going to sit in the empty one, Brooklyn noticing the black mark on his nose still.
"Hey, Ron." It was the twins again. Brooklyn smiled when seeing them since they seemed to be pretty cool. "Listen, we're going down the middle of the train—Lee Jordan's got a giant tarantula down there."
Brooklyn couldn't help but feel a small shiver on his neck since he himself wasn't that big a fan of spiders since having more than two legs was rather unnerving. "Right." Mumbled Ron.
George glanced at Harry. "Hey, did we introduce you to our other brother? This is Ron. See you later, then."
Harry waves at them. "Bye," He said, Brooklyn waving too while Ron looked over to Harry in awe too.
"Uh, you're the gargoyle like my brothers said right? So that means you won't hurt me?" Ron asks, pulling up his legs a little.
Brooklyn shook his head. He never wanted to hurt anybody unless they hurt him first. "No, besides I never really want to hurt kids." He assured, making Ron look a little bit relieved now, relaxing on his seat.
"And have you really got — you know...?" Ron pointed at Harry's forehead, Harry pulling back his black bangs to show his scar, Ron continuing to stare, making Brooklyn a little annoyed now at everyone staring at his brother.
"So that's where You-Know-Who—?" Ron gulped.
Brooklyn nodded. "Yes but he says he doesn't remember it."
Ron looked over to Brooklyn, now eyeing his body features in awe, especially his wings and his beak. "Whoa, my dad tends to go on about gargoyles being on Muggle churches but seeing one in the flesh really takes the cake. What's your name?"
Brooklyn smiles, Ron's curiosity not as bad as he expected it to be. "Brooklyn. I'm from New York 1996. But I wound up being zapped into the past here by a powerful Fae king and now I'm trying to figure out how to get home."
The red haired boy looked awed about his story, especially with the time traveling bit. "How many of you gargoyles are out there?"
It caused Brooklyn to flinch up from the question, his heart aching a little from remembering the loss of his siblings. "Uh, in my clan there's only 8 of us in New York. I lost a lot of my rookery brothers and sisters in a horrible massacre in 994." He said sadly, making Ron also cringe. "Sorry if I brought that up." He mumbled.
Brooklyn simply shrugs. "Doesn't really matter now, it had been a long time ago anyway. But are your entire family wizards?"
Ron nods as he went into a little backstory about how he had 5 brothers, including one who was studying dragons in Romania. Brooklyn blinked at the idea of dragons being around here in the Wizarding World since he only saw a stone dragon.
"I heard you went to live with Muggles," Ron said. "What are they like?"
Harry cringed up too like Brooklyn did. "Horrible — well not all of them. My aunt and uncle and cousin are, though. But I'm glad I have Brooklyn as my brother now." He said with a grin while Brooklyn put a hand and a wing around him.
Ron smiles slightly from their relationship, wishing he had that with his own brothers. "Five. I'm the sixth in our family to go to Hogwarts. You could say I have a lot to live up to. Percy's prefect and Bill had been Head Boy. Fred and George don't really care about those titles but everybody thinks they're funny." Ron explains, Brooklyn feeling a pang of sympathy for Ron.
"When Percy became a Prefect, he got an owl from mum and dad. But I mostly got his old rat along with Bill's old robes and Charlie's old wand."
Brooklyn saw Ron pull out what looked like a fat gray rat out from inside his jacket, which appeared to be fast asleep. When the scent of the rat hit his nose, Brooklyn was surprised to find it didn't quite smell like a rat, but had a vague human scent.
"His name is Scabbers and he's useless, he hardly ever wakes up."
Harry and his gargoyle friend looked at one another. "Maybe he's just old?" Brooklyn asks with a shrug, trying to ignore the strange human scent, thinking it was just Ron's wearing off on him.
Ron shrugs as well. "Who knows. Mum and dad could easily get Percy an owl because of his status but they couldn't aff— I mean, I got Scabbers instead." His face turned as red as his hair, feeling like he said too much, looking out the window.
The red gargoyle felt rather sorry for Ron while Harry told his own story as well as his first encounter with Brooklyn which fascinated the younger Weasley until Harry said Voldemort's name.
It caused Ron to gasp aloud. "What?" Brooklyn asked.
"You said You-Know-Who's name!" Ron hissed. "I'd have thought you, of all people—."
Harry shrugged. "I'm not trying to be brave or anything, saying the name," Brooklyn heard Harry say. "I just never knew I shouldn't. See what I mean? Me and Brook have got loads to learn... I bet."
"You won't be. There's loads of people who come from Muggle families and they learn quickly enough." Ron encouraged, making Brooklyn feel a little better but was still worried that those from Muggle families might not see him as appealing.
After the train had pulled out of London, it was past twelve when Brooklyn felt his stomach growl, as well as Harry too when a cart came by, a smiling witch opening their door. "Anything off the cart, dears?"
Brooklyn nods, Harry jumping up instantly to get their food, Ron looking awkward saying he brought sandwiches. Brooklyn and Harry both went out to find the most exotic looking candy Brooklyn had ever seen in his life.
On the tray there was Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pasties, Cauldron Cakes, Licorice Wands, and several other names of candy Brooklyn didn't think he would ever see in his lifetime, now feeling like he had an endless sweet tooth for wanting all this wizard candy.
Harry bought some of everything for both him and Brooklyn, the two sitting back down, Ron looking jealously at it all. "You guys hungry?"
Brooklyn nods, holding up a Pumpkin Pasty curiously before biting into it. The Floo Powder had made him hungry even after all that breakfast. The Pasty tasted incredible. So did the Cauldron Cakes as well.
Ron pulled out his own sandwiches, looking grumpy again. "She always forgets I don't like corned beef."
That was when Brooklyn figured it would be nice to offer some of his candy. "Hey, I'd swap you for some of this." He said, holding out a Pasty.
Ron shook his head. "I don't think you'd want this, it's dry. She gets rather busy at times."
Brooklyn rolls his eyes. "Seriously, I've eaten dried meat before, it is no big deal. Just take these already." Ron soon reluctantly but eagerly took the pastries from Brooklyn, and handed him the sandwiches. Brooklyn took a bite, which really wasn't too bad for a home made sandwich, instantly eating it in a few minutes.
Ron was rather impressed. "Boy, you gargoyles really do eat quickly."
The beaked male smiled. "Well, we gotta keep our strength up." He said, as he also noticed the Chocolate Frogs in Harry's hand. "These aren't real frogs?" Harry asks.
"No, just a spell really. But you do get cool cards inside them. I'm missing Agrippa." Ron explains.
Brooklyn raised his brow. "Agrippa?"
"Oh, of course you two wouldn't know— Chocolate Frogs have cards to collect of famous witch and wizards. I've got about five hundred, but I haven't got Agrippa or Ptolemy." Ron continues on, making Brooklyn feel baffled from the names but took his own Chocolate Frog.
He opened it up, the frog croaking, jumping onto the window. Brooklyn though managed to grab it thanks to his instincts, and eating it. He next looks at his card, which had a young looking wizard with a British face and short brown hair.
Newt Scamander
MAGICAL CREATURES SPECIALIST
Regarded as the world authority on magical creatures, Newt Scamander is the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, which has been an approved textbook at Hogwarts since its publication in 1927 and can be found in most wizarding households.
Ron was rather impressed by Brooklyn's card. "Wow, Newt cards are usually pretty rare, hope to find one for myself. But you should keep it since it's your first one."
It made Brooklyn smile at that since he rather enjoyed reading about it while Harry opened up a card that had Dumbledore. "So this is Dumbledore!" Both he and Brooklyn exclaimed while looking at the picture which was one of an elderly man with a long white beard and half moon spectacles.
Ron stared. "Don't tell me you both haven't heard of Dumbledore! Can I have a card? I might get Agrippa. Thanks."
Albus Dumbledore
CURRENTLY HEADMASTER OF HOGWARTS
Considered by many as the greatest wizard of modern times, Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner Nicholas Flamel.
When Harry turned his card back around however; the picture of Dumbledore had disappeared, much to Harry's surprise. "Hey, he's gone!" Brooklyn gaped. Obviously there was more surprises to the world than he ever imagined.
Ron grins. "Well, you can't expect him to hang around all day. He'll be back. No, I've got Morgana again and I've got about six of her... do you want it? You can start collecting." He offered Harry who took it. Ron was also eyeing the unwrapped Frogs.
Harry gestures to the pile. "Help yourself. But you know, in the Muggle world, people just stay put in photos."
Ron looked at Harry like he was mental but was also amazed. "Really? Weird!"
It made Brooklyn laugh while he unwrapped more cards for himself, also getting a Dumbledore too. He even got Godric Gryffindor, Celestina Warbeck, Wendelin the Weird, and Herpo the Foul.
Harry soon began opening up the Every Flavor Beans much to Brooklyn's curiosity as Ron made a small face. "Be careful with those. When they say every flavor, they mean every flavor. You know, you get all the ordinary ones like chocolate and peppermint and marmalade, but then you can get spinach and liver and tripe. George reckons he got a booger flavored one once."
Brooklyn felt his stomach grow queasy at the thought. Who would even put boogers in candy? He gingerly picked up one that was rather brownish looking, hoping it was chocolate. He was wrong however, spitting it out. Ron couldn't help but laugh making Brooklyn flush since the flavor turned out to be... poop.
Eventually he stuck to eating cauldron cakes for a while.
The train went by more countryside and soon got wilder. That was when the door was knocked on and Brooklyn saw the round faced boy from before who lost his toad. "Sorry. Have you seen a toad at all?"
The three friends shrugged, shaking their heads, causing the boy to start crying, Brooklyn's ears flattening. He hated it when children cried. "I've lost him! He keeps getting away!"
"I-I'm sure he'll show up." Brooklyn attempted to assure with a smile on his face. The boy was a little scared by the red gargoyle but from hearing his gentle voice he smiles through his tears. "Yes. Well, if you see him..."
The round faced boy left after that. Ron was rather confused. "I don't see what he's so upset about. If I'd bought a toad, I'd lose it as quick as I could. Mind you, I brought Scabbers, so I can't talk."
Brooklyn noted the rat still snoozing on Ron's lap, wrinkling his nose from that strong human scent again, making him feel like he was going crazy. "He might have died and you wouldn't know the difference. I tried to turn him yellow yesterday to make him more interesting, but the spell didn't work. I'll show you, look."
Ron went to pull out his wand, Harry and Brooklyn noticing a white thing poking out, the wand pretty battered. "Unicorn hair's nearly poking out. Anyway—."
Before Ron could do his spell however, the door opened once more. The roadless boy was back, but with a girl this time. She was wearing her robes already, eyeing Brooklyn in bossy curiosity.
"Has anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one." The girl asks in her rather bossy tone. Brooklyn himself felt a little annoyed by it as he shook his head.
"No, we've already told him we haven't seen it," Ron said back but the girl didn't listen, eyeing his wand.
"Oh, are you doing magic? Let's see it then." She wound up sitting near Ron who looked uncomfortable as he started to say his spell, which to Brooklyn didn't sound like a spell at all:
"Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow."
But Scabbers remained his gray self, snoring softly in his sleep, Brooklyn eyeing Ron who turned red again, Hermione smirking lightly. "Are you sure that's a real spell? Well, it's not very good, is it? I've tried a few simple spells just for practice and its all worked for me. Nobody in my family's magic at all, it was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased, of course, I mean, it's the very best school of witchcraft and wizardry there is, I've heard—I've learned all our course books by heart of course, I just hope it will be enough—I'm Hermione Granger, by the way. And—are you a gargoyle?"
She said all of this really fast that Brooklyn had a hard time keeping up with what she was saying. Only when Hermione mentioned him being a gargoyle that he flushed, nodding lightly. "Uh, yeah. Nice to meet you Hermione."
Hermione gave him a smile. "I've read all about your kind in some books I was able to get for myself outside of the school list but didn't think I could ever see one in person. But... aren't you supposed to be in stone right now?"
Brooklyn felt himself flush even further from that, Harry taking his hand. "He had his stone sleep taken away from a powerful fae." Harry said, defending his brother.
That caused both Hermione and Ron to look at him in sympathy. "I'm really sorry. It must be difficult not being able to rejuvenate during the day."
The red gargoyle nods sullenly. "Yeah, it is." Hermione soon turns over to Harry and Ron. "And you two are?"
"Ron Weasley." Ron mutters.
"Harry Potter."
Hermione gasped in shock. "Are you really? I know all about you of course..." She begins rambling on again, Brooklyn continuing to eat a Pumpkin Pasty to distract himself for a while, hating that Hermione had brought up him not being able to rejuvenate himself in stone sleep taken away only until he heard Hermione say "Do either of you know what house you'll be in? I've been asking around, and I hope I'm in Gryffindor, it sounds by far the best; I heard Dumbledore himself was in it, but I suppose Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad... anyway, we'd better go and look for Neville's toad. You two had better change, you know. I expect we'll be there soon."
Hermione left after those words, bringing the toadless boy with her. Brooklyn was admittedly rather glad she left. She wasn't as bad as Malloy but really did talk a lot.
"Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not in it," Ron grumbles. He threw his wand back into his trunk. "Stupid spell— George gave it to me, bet he knew it was a dud."
Brooklyn felt more sympathetic for Ron now having to put up with his brother's pranks. "Well, I gotta deal with two brothers too. Lexington and Broadway. Lex has his gadgets, and Broadway has a crush on my leader's daughter. Me, I'm just the future leader. Or probably won't be if I don't get home."
It caused Ron to stare at him in admiration. "Whoa, you're the future leader of the clan? Bloody Hell!"
Harry had his own question. "What house are your brothers in?"
"Gryffindor." Ron says with another shrug, looking gloomy. "Mom and dad were in it too. I don't know what they'll say if I'm not. I don't suppose Ravenclaw would be too bad but imagine if they'd put me in Slytherin..."
Brooklyn himself could only imagine which boy would be in Slytherin the most; and it was the pale boy from Diagon Alley. Ron for a while talked about what the rest of his family did until he mentioned something that had his ears perked. "Did you hear about Gringotts? It's been all over the Daily Prophet, but I don't suppose you get that with the Muggles—someone tried to rob a high security vault."
The two brothers looked at each other in shock, wondering what they've even tried to steal. "My dad says it must've been a powerful Dark Wizard to get round Gringotts, but they don't think they took anything, that's what's odd. 'Course, everyone gets scared when something like this happens in case You-Know-Who's behind it."
Brooklyn inside now was feeling rather nervous, hoping somehow Demona or any other one of his main rivals wasn't involved with this Voldemort. That would spell big trouble for both this world and his own.
The three even went into talking more about Quidditch as Ron looked mortified that he and Harry didn't know any Quidditch teams. But then at that moment the compartment opened again, only to reveal someone Brooklyn didn't want to see ever again; the pale boy from Madam Malkin's along with two other strong looking boys next to him.
He looked towards Brooklyn with some greed in his eyes, especially at Brooklyn's talons who quickly covered them up with his wings. "Is it true? They're saying all down the train that Harry Potter and his gargoyle pet are in this compartment. So that's you, isn't it?"
Harry nods. "Yes." Brooklyn eyed the other two boys, who were rather mean looking, acting like bodyguards.
The pale boy noted Brooklyn looking at them. "Oh, this is Crabbe, and this is Goyle. And my name is Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." He introduced.
Brooklyn heard Ron give a silent snort of laughter, making Draco look in his direction. "Think my name is funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. My father told me all the Weasley have red hair, freckles, and more children than they can afford." He taunted.
That caused the former second's eyes to glow, standing up. "You dare insult his family, spoiled brat?" He snapped viciously, not having forgiven Draco for insulting Harry's.
Draco smirked back at Brooklyn. "I can do what I want, Potter Pet. And Potter, you'll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort or monsters like this one. I can help you there."
He held out his hand, wanting Harry to take it, Brooklyn snarling at being called a monster which was his least favorite word. Soon though Harry just glared back at Draco. "I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks. And Brooklyn is not a pet!" Harry replied back coolly.
Draco's brow furrowed, his cheeks turning pink. "I'd be careful if I were you, Potter. Unless you're a bit politer, you'll go the same way as your parents. And this devil here will be sent to a zoo for untamed monsters if going around unchecked. Your parents didn't know what was good for them either. You hang around with riffraff like the Weasley and that Hagrid too, it'll rub off on you."
That caused the three friends to stand up quickly, Brooklyn's eyes glowing a bright white, wanting to teach this brat a lesson. "Say that again!" Ron snapped.
"Oh, you're going to fight us, are you?" Draco taunted. Brooklyn normally never hit children, but Draco was really pressing his buttons. "We might, if you don't leave!" He spat.
Draco though turned to Crabbe and Goyle. "But we don't feel like leaving, do we boys? We've eaten all our food and you still seem to have to have some." Brooklyn was about to stop the brat from taking their food when to his surprise; Scabbers the rat had chomped down hard onto Goyle's finger, the bigger kid letting out a horrible yell.
Goyle kept swinging his hand around, Scabbers digging his teeth into the finger, causing Crabbe and Draco to back off, Brooklyn feeling himself laughing. That was when Goyle successfully tossed Scabbers off of his finger who hit the window, Brooklyn catching him before falling to the floor.
The bullies were finally gone as Hermione suddenly showed up again. "What has been going on?" She demands, looking disapproving as Brooklyn handed Ron back Scabbers. "I think he's been knocked out." Ron says, before looking closely at his rat. "No... I don't believe it. He's gone back to sleep."
Brooklyn couldn't help but be impressed by how much of a heavy sleeper the little guy was. "You've met Malfoy before?" Ron asked him and Harry suddenly.
The two brothers both nodded, as they both explained about how they met in Malkin's and Harry also brought up at how Draco and his father tried taking Brooklyn's talons.
Ron stared in disbelief and disgust, as he also heard about how gargoyle talons get hunted for potion ingredients. "We'll make sure that the Malfoys don't do anything to you." He promised, making Brooklyn smiled. Then Ron glanced at Hermione. "Can we help you with something?"
Hermione put her hands on her hips. "You'd better hurry up and put your robes on, I've just been up to the front to ask the conductor, and he says we're nearly there. You haven't been fighting, have you? You'll be in trouble before we even get there!"
Ron continued scowling. "Scabbers has been fighting, not us. Would you mind leaving while we change?"
Hermione sniffs in indignation. "Alright—I only came here because people outside are behaving very childishly, racing up and down the corridors. And you've got dirt on your nose by the way, did you know?" She soon turns and leaves them.
Brooklyn felt himself burn a little from how pushy Hermione had been but ignored it for now, knowing soon that he was about to enter the magical school of Hogwarts, stomach flipping at the idea, as the train finally stopped at Hogsmeade station, the sky growing dark. He held Harry's hand after they changed, stepping out onto the station.
...
A really long chapter for everybody since we're now back at Hogwarts finally! Saving the entrance to the school for the next chapter!
