Chapter 66: Consequences of Disownment

Bellatrix No-name stood in front of Lord Voldemort, with Rodolphus Lestrange next to her. Now that she was no longer bound to the Black family, she could hang out with Rodolphus, and maybe even marry him someday. Ever since she was disowned from the Black family, she had been living with Rodolphus, though it had not been very enjoyable. He seemed to be very displeased that she had let herself be disowned from a family like the Blacks. But before she could think about it any further, Voldemort broke the silence.

"Bellatrix," Voldemort hissed coldly. "I want to attack Hogsmeade. You will be in charge of this attack."

Bellatrix nodded hurriedly. "Yes, My Lord," she responded sweetly. As Voldemort moved on to appoint other Death Eaters to the task of attacking Hogsmeade, Bellatrix started thinking about her life now.

The day Bellatrix had informed Rodolphus of her disownment, he had put her under the Cruciatus Curse for several minutes. He had told her she could stay with him, and that they could get married someday, but deep down, Bellatrix was hesitant. At one point in time, she would have been jumping for joy at the prospect of marrying Rodolphus, but she had seen the colder side of Rodolphus, the side of him where he would torture her if she did something to upset him.

Bellatrix also remembered what her sisters had said when she was being disowned. At that time, she had been furious that they did not try defending her, they had not told Lord Black to not disown her. Instead, they had endorsed the decision to disown her from the family. But after having plenty of time to think things through, she could not help but feel a little lost, a little lonely. She did not quite realize this yet, but she missed her sisters, Narcissa in particular. She remembered playing dress-up when the three sisters were younger, and while Bellatrix had kind of grown out of dressing up by the time Narcissa and Andromeda got into it, she always found herself enjoying it anyway. She missed those days, when they had fun together.

Bellatrix was slowly starting to realize that just maybe, family was more important than she realized. She knew, however, that it was too late. There was no turning back now. She would have to play the part of a proud Death Eater. She knew that Lord Black would never want to hear from her again, and really, she didn't know if she was ready to face any of the Blacks. Part of her still found herself loyal to Voldemort and Rodolphus, and the other part of her felt regret, though she didn't know it yet. She decided to just go along with the plan to attack Hogsmeade.

Orion was also at this Death Eater meeting, but mostly because Walburga wanted him to be there. Ever since Walburga had been disowned, and Orion had disowned himself, he and Walburga had been homeless for a month before Walburga had killed two Muggle parents and a baby, making Voldemort happy. He had told them that they could stay at the deceased Muggles' home. They had made it completely magical. There was no television, video games, or anything like that. All of the Muggle items had been burned.

At first, Orion was happy that he could be with Walburga, and not worry about what his parents would say or think. He didn't have to worry about his family at all, no Sirius and Regulus, no duties, nothing. However, Walburga found herself bored, and when she was bored, she had to find an outlet. She had no one but Orion.

Orion started finding himself having to dodge Walburga's spells that she would throw at him randomly. He had never been her target when they had Sirius and Regulus. In fact, they both hurt them, Walburga especially. After Sirius and Regulus ran off and told Arcturus and Melania about their parents' treatment, Walburga started targeting Kreacher, because house-elves were nothing but slaves to her, so she didn't care if Kreacher cried or had some broken bones. She had ordered Kreacher not to tell anyone. At the time, Orion had not informed her that if Arcturus or Melania suspected something, they could overrule her order and get Kreacher to tell them. However, they had never found out, so her order had never been overruled.

Now, however, Walburga didn't have Kreacher to torture. So, she tortured Orion whenever she felt like it. Orion was now starting to see what Sirius and Regulus must have been feeling. Orion knew that he was not a good father, never had been, never will be, but he could sort of understand why his children had run to his mother and father.

Orion was starting to have doubts about many things. Walburga, for one. He remembered the day he had asked if he could marry Walburga. He knew, even at that time, that his parents were not fond of the idea, but they had allowed it, saying it was his choice. He had been thrilled. It was not until recently that he really started regretting marrying her. He knew that his parents had never particularly liked her, but he just thought they were too soft. He was experiencing firsthand why they did not like her all that much.

Orion was also feeling a little regret for leaving his family behind. He had been raised to value family over everything else, but he had simply shrugged off the threat of black magic, and had willingly walked out of the family. He could not imagine what his parents and sister had felt, which was why he never looked back when he left.

Orion wasn't sure if his parents, or the rest of the family, would ever want to see or hear from him again, which was why he was just staying where he was, with Walburga. But things were about to change dramatically.

"Orion!" Walburga hissed, painfully digging her nails into his shoulder. "Are you listening?"

"Of course I am," Orion tried reassuring her.

"No you're not!" Walburga snapped. "The Dark Lord has tried talking to you twice now and you're not listening! You've been DAYDREAMING like a child!"

"I apologize," Orion said with a sigh.

"Apologies don't cut it!" Voldemort hissed angrily. "Walburga, teach him a lesson!"

Walburga smiled widely. The gleam in her eyes spelled trouble for Orion. "Crucio!" she exclaimed with glee.

Orion spent the next twenty minutes being tortured by the Cruciatus Curse, bone-breaking curses, cutting curses, and other dark curses that were borderline illegal. By the time she stopped torturing him, he felt dizzy, he felt pain everywhere, and he knew he needed to get help. He had never been tortured quite this badly before, and he knew he could not handle this any longer.

With a pop, he disappeared from the Death Eater meeting, appearing at St. Mungo's Hospital. He just prayed that there was a healer who could help him.

"Merlin's beard! What happened to you?" a familiar voice asked. Orion looked up.

"Andromeda…" he rasped out. The last thing he saw was Andromeda rushing towards him, her healer instincts kicking in. With that, he knew no more.
