Prompt: "Don't leave me here with her."

"Why? She's a delight."

"Remind me again why we are here."

Nate Ford rolled his eyes before looking at the woman leaning against the bar next to him. Prudence Beck, Pru to those who knew her well, did not seem like the most imposing person. Yet, in the year or so that Nate had known her, Pru had proven to be an almost immovable force. Hardison had hired her, mostly for show, when they'd opened up the office in Los Angeles, to be their secretary, yet she had proved to be a great researcher and good ground support when the team went out of town. She had wormed her way into their core and wasn't leaving quite yet, having moved to Boston when Hardison called.

A throat clearing brought Nate back to the present. He sighed before speaking. "We are here to meet a new potential client."

Pru gave him a slightly indecipherable look. "Okay, let me rephrase that. Remind me again why I am here."

Nate turned fully to face her. "You're here because, besides Eliot, you are the only person well-versed enough in reading people. And with Sophie gone off to 'find herself,' I need someone to come with me to meet with the clients. And you know the others aren't as empathetic as you are."

Groaning, Pru rolled her eyes. "Whatever. So, who are you supposed to be meeting?"

Nate turned (pointedly ignoring her phrasing) and scanned McRory's, looking for the young woman Hardison had briefed him about. Turning towards the door, he finally saw the client talking with another woman whom he thought may be her lawyer. He felt Pru come up next to him, looking out at the pair before turning to him with a perplexed look on her face. Which he was also ignoring.

"You don't actually need me here."

"Pru."

"No, Nate, you do not need me here. You are just missing Sophie, and I won't perpetuate that. Now, I am going back upstairs."

"Do not leave me here with them, Pru."

Pru rolled her eyes. "Why? They seem like a delight. Now, if you'll excuse me, I am going back upstairs. Eliot said that he was willing to teach me some things in the kitchen, so I'm going to go take him up on that. See ya later."

Nate glared at Pru as she walked away. Rolling his eyes, he plastered a welcoming look on his face as the potential client approached. This was going to be a long case.
