Hey everyone,
Here's another chapter for you! I originally aimed to update within a month, but I fell short by about two weeks. Still, I'm happy to bring you this chapter now rather than making you wait four months like before. I managed to carve out some free time to focus on the story, and I was finally able to complete this chapter—I really hope you enjoy it!
Just a quick heads-up: This chapter focuses on Issei vs. Renekton. I was torn between continuing the previous fight before switching to their battle or alternating between the ongoing fights. In the end, I decided to update whichever fight I was able to finish writing first, and that turned out to be Issei vs. Renekton. This isn't the full fight—think of it as Part 1—with the rest coming in a later chapter.
For the next update, we'll likely shift back to Rias and the others' battle before continuing Issei's fight. I hope the way I structure the updates isn't too confusing. Thanks for sticking with the story, and as always, I appreciate your patience and support!
Enjoy the chapter!
Far from the others, Renekton led Issei toward an isolated battlefield—a place where they could fight without restraint. The wasteland stretched before them, jagged cliffs looming like broken fangs, the earth beneath them already scarred by past battles. Here, nothing stood between them but the inevitable clash of monsters.
But Issei's mind was elsewhere.
Despite summoning Tiamat and his other summons, their forces were still vastly outnumbered. His friends—his family—were facing impossible odds. The battle was turning against them, and every second he spent here was another second he couldn't help them.
His gut twisted with unease.
He had absolute faith in their strength. They were warriors, survivors—but still, he couldn't shake the fear that he'd return to find them dead.
With any luck, he could end this fight quickly and return to aid them.
But luck had nothing to do with it.
Renekton was by far the strongest foe he had encountered. Stronger than Tannin. Stronger than Tiamat. While he wasn't as mighty as Issei's parents, if what Tiamat had warned him about was true, then Renekton's power rivaled even the Heavenly Dragons.
This was not going to be an easy battle.
At last, Renekton came to a halt, a cruel grin spreading across his scarred face.
"There! Now no one will be able to interrupt our battle. It's time for the slaughter to begin!" Renekton's voice was thick with excitement, his grip tightening around his massive cleaver.
Issei wasted no time—lifting his clawed hand, he conjured a colossal golden barrier, stretching high into the sky and covering their battlefield. The air crackled as its energy locked into place. A shield—not for them, but for everyone else.
Renekton scoffed.
"Hmph, are you still trying to protect those weaklings? Why bother? They are beneath you!" he sneered, his golden eyes glinting with disdain.
Issei's eyes hardened.
"They are my friends. I swore long ago to protect them. And I always keep my promises."
Renekton snorted, shaking his head. "Friends? Hah! How pathetic. They will only hold you back from your true potential. You are a dragon! Like me, you are a creature of war, of destruction! We exist to fight, to conquer! That is our purpose! Why waste your strength playing the guardian for those beneath you?"
Issei didn't waver. "What I do with my power is my choice. Not yours."
Renekton's grin widened into something vicious. "Then you are a fool. But no matter. Talking is over. The time for battle is here!"
With a deafening roar, Renekton launched himself at Issei, cleaver raised high.
Renekton's blade came down with earth-shattering force.
Issei's instincts flared—he twisted his body, narrowly avoiding the blow as the weapon sliced through the ground where he had stood. The sheer impact tore the earth apart, sending shockwaves rippling across the battlefield.
But Renekton wasn't finished.
Using the momentum of his swing, he twisted his body, his massive tail lashing out like a whip.
CRACK!
The impact struck Issei square in the stomach, sending him hurtling backward. He crashed into a towering rock formation, exploding it into rubble on impact.
A moment later, he emerged from the debris, shaking the dust from his wings. A trickle of blood dripped from his lips.
"Damn… his speed…" Issei wiped his mouth, eyes narrowing. That was the first time someone had overwhelmed him before his instincts could react.
Not even Tiamat or Tannin had been able to do that. The only ones who had ever matched him in sheer power and speed were his parents.
Renekton let out a deep laugh.
"Don't tell me that's all you've got, Calamity Dragon! Where is the beast I saw tearing that pathetic bird apart?! I came to fight him!
BRING HIM OUT!"
With another thunderous charge, Renekton closed the distance in an instant. But this time, Issei was ready.
Ryu Style—Prediction.
His golden eyes locked onto Renekton's attack pattern. Each swing of the cleaver, each movement of his claws—it all became clear.
Issei dodged with precision. Twisting his body just enough to evade the massive cleaver, weaving through Renekton's relentless assault. But even with his enhanced reflexes, the sheer force and speed behind each attack kept him on the defensive.
Then—his moment came.
Dodging to the left, Issei saw an opening.
He channeled his black flames into his fist, igniting it with raw destruction, then slammed it into Renekton's stomach.
BOOM!
Renekton was sent flying, crashing through trees, boulders, and mountains before skidding to a halt.
Issei steadied himself, watching as the dust settled.
Then—laughter.
Renekton rose to his feet, his smirk widening as he looked down at the black flames still burning across his torso.
"Hahaha… now that's more like it." He examined the flames licking at his scales before sneering. "Hmph. Neat little trick. But not good enough. Cleanse."
A pulse of energy erupted from his body—and the flames vanished.
Issei's eyes widened. His black flames… extinguished?
Those flames were supposed to never go out until their target was reduced to ash.
Yet Renekton had simply erased them.
"In that case…" Issei conjured dozens of fire orbs, surrounding himself in a ring of destruction.
"HOUND."
The orbs launched forward—but Renekton laughed, swinging his cleaver to deflect them all. Explosions tore apart the landscape, but Renekton remained unscathed.
However—this was the distraction.
Issei appeared in his blind spot, fists coated in green flames meant to weaken and corrode.
Yet—Renekton smirked.
He vanished.
Issei's instincts screamed—danger.
Turning—too late.
Renekton's cleaver was already mid-swing.
Issei barely had time to cross his arms, reinforcing himself with his full aura.
SLASH!
Pain.
His scales—his strongest defense—were torn apart.
Blood splattered onto the ground.
"Your weapon… has dragon-slaying properties." Issei panted.
Renekton grinned. "It tears through any defense—dragon, god, it doesn't matter." His eyes glowed with bloodlust. "You better be careful… or this battle might end sooner than I want."
If what Renekton stated was true then Issei would have to be careful but it doesn't mean he is defenseless. His healing flames soon activated and started healing the injuries sustained by Renekton.
"Oh! You even possess the ability to heal. That's perfect. It means I can thoroughly enjoy my battle with without accidently killing you too quickly. I've finally found an opponent that makes my blood boil and it would be a waste to end things too quickly"
"Don't get ahead of yourself. You will need to unleash far more power if you wish to defeat me. This battle has only gotten started" Issei stated as he finished healing his injuries. Renekton couldn't agree more. The two sized each other up, each aware of the immense power the other held. But despite the intensity of their gazes, there was a certain calm to the moment, a quiet understanding that this was merely a warm-up—nothing more than a test of their strengths, a dance before the true chaos would begin.
Renekton chuckled, the sound deep and dark, vibrating through the air. "What are you waiting for? Do you want me to make the first move. You think you can keep up, little dragon? I've crushed gods beneath my claws. What makes you so special?"
Issei's eyes narrowed, the corner of his mouth quirking into a confident smirk. "We'll see about that, old man. I've battled against foes worse than you, and I'm still standing." He was of course referring to his parents.
Renekton's grin widened as he crouched low, the earth beneath him groaning from the weight of his immense form. "I like your fire, Hyoudou. Let's see if you can back it up."
Without another word, Renekton lunged forward with the speed of a predator, his massive claws tearing through the air as his battle-axe swung with deadly intent. Issei's wings beat hard, lifting him into the air as he deftly dodged the axe's deadly arc, the wind swirling around him as his body twisted gracefully in midair.
Issei took a deep breath and then, with a flash of movement, he shot toward Renekton, gathering the energy within himself. "Let's kick things up a notch," he muttered to himself, his wings snapping forward to propel him faster.
Flames erupted from Issei's body as he closed the gap, a fiery inferno swirling around him as he surged toward Renekton. The heat radiated from him in waves, scorching the air itself as he thrust his fist forward, a concentrated fireball forming at the tips of his fingers.
Renekton's golden eyes gleamed with delight as he turned, meeting Issei's attack head-on. With a roar, he swung his massive tail toward the incoming dragon, creating a wall of force that collided with Issei's fireball. The resulting explosion sent a shockwave through the battlefield, sending debris flying in all directions. The ground beneath their feet cracked and splintered, sending cracks snaking out toward the horizon.
Issei grimaced but quickly regained his composure, flapping his wings to stay airborne. His body was already recovering, the healing flames within him igniting as he powered through the damage. He wasted no time, charging at Renekton again, his eyes glowing with the same determination as before.
Renekton, grinning like a mad beast, spun his body in a swift motion, bringing his axe down toward Issei with the force of a mountain crashing into the earth. The weapon whistled through the air, a deadly arc of destruction aimed directly at Issei's head.
But Issei was faster, his instincts kicking in as he leaned back, narrowly avoiding the strike. His wings beat hard, sending him into a powerful evasive roll that carried him behind Renekton. In an instant, he unleashed a barrage of smaller fireballs, hurling them at the back of the giant crocodile.
Renekton howled with laughter as the fireballs exploded against his armored scales. The fire didn't faze him in the least, and he spun around with a swing of his tail, attempting to catch Issei off guard. Issei managed to dodge the tail swipe just in time, his wings creating a gust of wind that propelled him back to a safer distance.
"You're quick, I'll give you that," Renekton grunted, his voice a rumbling growl. "But you'll need more than that to defeat me. You've barely scratched the surface of my strength."
Issei smirked, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. "I haven't even started yet. Just warming up."
The tension between them grew thick, the excitement of battle sparking in their veins. The land around them had already been torn apart by their clash, but neither dragon was willing to back down, not yet.
Renekton crouched again, his eyes narrowing in concentration. "Show me your true power then, Hyoudou. I want to see what you can really do."
Issei grinned, his flames intensifying as he powered up. "You're gonna regret asking for this."
With a roar, Issei summoned the a massive amount of draconic power, his aura flaring up around him like a raging storm. The ground beneath him cracked and crumbled as he gathered all his different colored flames into massive fireballs, larger and more intense than anything he'd thrown at Renekton before.
Renekton's eyes sparkled with anticipation, and with a thunderous roar, he raised his own power to meet Issei's. His massive form surged with primal energy, his claws clenching as he summoned his own wave of destructive force.
The two dragons stood, momentarily locked in a clash of raw power. The air between them crackled with heat and energy, and with a final, explosive roar, they both released their attacks. Fire and destructive force collided with an ear-splitting boom, sending shockwaves that tore through the landscape and rattled the heavens themselves.
When the dust finally settled, both beasts stood, scoffed but otherwise uninjured. Renekton's grin was wide, but there was something more in his eyes now—a deep respect, a recognition of the power before him.
"Well, that was… interesting," Renekton said, his voice still dripping with amusement. "You've got spirit, kid. I'll give you that."
Issei smirked, his body already healing from the wear and tear of their skirmish. He understood from his clash he would need to transform into his true form soon. "You're not so bad yourself, old man. But don't think this was a real fight yet. I'm just getting started."
Renekton let out a low, rumbling laugh. "I look forward to seeing what else you can bring. Let's see if you can make me really fight."
With that, they both stood at the ready, the warm-up battle between them just beginning to escalate.
"You are right. Since we finished our warm up. How about we get things started and get serious. I want to see all of your power. Show me the power the son of a dragon god can muster. It will make my victory all the more enjoyable after I kill you." Renekton charged once again towards Issei who dodged the assault by swaying towards the side. Then with a beat of his wings, he took flight.
'Let's try some long range attacks.' He thought to mix it up. He lifted his arms and summoned collosal sized fireballs. The heat alone was enough to vaporize any trees and even melt any rocks in the vicinity.
"Meteor Shower"
He sent his attacks towards Renekton who far from being worried simply laughed in delight.
"Now this is more like it. Bring out more dragon." Renekton's power suddenly raised as he readied his weapon.
Issei's eyes glowed with a fierce determination as the colossal fireballs flew toward Renekton. His heart pounded with anticipation, knowing that the fight was escalating into something far beyond a typical clash. Renekton, however, was already anticipating this. His laugh echoed through the battlefield, the sound growing louder and more maniacal as the flames drew closer.
"Ha! Is that all you've got, boy?" Renekton taunted, his voice thick with exhilaration. He swung his weapon with terrifying speed, causing the flames to dissipate upon contact with the air, as though they were nothing but smoke. "You'll need more than a simple fireball to stop me!"
"Mountain Cleaver!"
Renekton roared as he swung his titanic cleavers, unleashing a series of devastating slashes that tore through the incoming meteors like paper. Each swing sent shockwaves rippling through the battlefield, obliterating the falling boulders before they could even reach him.
But the attack didn't stop there.
The shockwaves, still brimming with unrelenting force, surged toward Issei like a storm of destruction.
Reacting instantly, Issei summoned multiple layers of his Holy Shield, golden barriers manifesting in rapid succession. The first few layers shattered on impact, the sheer power of Renekton's attack tearing through them like a relentless blade.
Despite the meteors weakening the attack, the slashes still carved through most of his defenses, forcing Issei to brace himself. A flicker of surprise flashed in his eyes.
"Tch… he cut through that?!"
The battlefield trembled as the last remnants of Renekton's attack collided with the final layer of Issei's shield, sending cracks spiderwebbing across its surface before it finally held.
Renekton stood tall, his weapon still glowing with power, a savage grin spreading across his face.
"Looks like your defenses aren't as unbreakable as you thought."
Issei's wings beat with renewed intensity, and he darted higher into the air, preparing for his next move. He wasn't foolish enough to think that one attack would be enough to overwhelm the mighty Renekton. Instead, he was testing the waters, gauging his opponent's abilities.
"You're strong," Issei called out, his voice steady but full of hidden challenge. "But you're going to have to show me more than just raw power if you plan to win this."
With a flick of his wrist, Issei summoned a fiery storm of immense proportions. The wind howled around him as massive pillars of flame shot from his outstretched hands, each one a deadly projectile aimed straight for Renekton.
Renekton's eyes flared with energy. "Now that's more like it," he grinned, preparing himself for the onslaught. He wasn't going to back down. This fight was exactly what he had been waiting for.
The two colossal beasts collided, their blows meeting in an explosion of raw power that sent shockwaves rippling across the battlefield. Their movements blurred, fists and claws striking with such speed that they became invisible to the naked eye.
BOOM!
Each impact cracked the very fabric of the world. The ground fractured and shattered; entire mountains reduced to dust beneath their overwhelming force. The sky itself seemed to tremble in fear, dark clouds swirling violently as if recoiling from the sheer intensity of their battle.
Their roars echoed like thunder, shaking the heavens.
This was no ordinary clash.
This was a war between gods.
"Scatter Shot!"
Issei's voice thundered as he spread his wings, his body surging with fiery energy.
In an instant, a storm of flaming arrows erupted into existence, each bolt burning with apocalyptic force. Like a meteor shower, they raced toward Renekton, the sky itself alight with destruction.
But the Butcher of the Sands did not falter.
Renekton's eyes gleamed with savage delight as he gripped his massive cleaver, his muscles tensing. With terrifying speed, he charged forward, his body a blur of motion.
SLASH!
He cut down the first wave of arrows with a single, sweeping strike. His cleaver sang through the air, deflecting, dodging, and cleaving through the storm as he pressed on.
Flames exploded around him—yet they barely slowed his advance.
Issei narrowed his eyes. He's cutting through them too easily.
With a snarl, he unleashed more—this time, blending in his ice flames and decaying flames, twisting the attack into a chaotic vortex of death.
The sky turned into a maelstrom of blackened frost, purgatory fire, and sickly green decay, each projectile radiating an aura of pure annihilation. Any normal being would have been erased instantly.
But Renekton was no normal being.
The Butcher of the Sands charged straight through the onslaught.
Bolts of freezing fire slammed into his body—yet his scales refused to crack.
Decaying flames latched onto his flesh, attempting to erode his essence—but he shrugged them off like mere embers.
Where others would have burned, frozen, or crumbled, Renekton simply laughed.
With each step forward, his grin widened, his eyes burning with battle-lust. He reveled in the chaos, in the destruction, in the sheer thrill of an opponent who could actually challenge him.
And then—
He was in front of Issei.
A blur of gold and crimson, moving too fast for even the dragon's sharp eyes to track.
Before Issei could react, Renekton's cleaver came down like a guillotine.
BOOOOOM!
The earth split open, a shockwave of force tearing through the battlefield, sending boulders and debris flying.
Issei barely managed to twist away, but even as he evaded, the sheer pressure of the attack tore through his side, sending blood and scales flying.
For the first time in the battle, Issei grimaced.
Throughout the battle, Issei began to notice something unsettling.
Renekton wasn't just strong—he was getting stronger.
At first, it had been subtle. The difference in power between them had been manageable, a clash of equals where skill and technique determined the flow of battle. But as the fight dragged on, Issei found himself pushed further and further back.
Not only was Renekton's strength increasing, but his speed had also surged beyond anything Issei had anticipated.
Each attack became sharper, faster, more precise.
Each swing of his massive cleaver carried more force, as if the battle itself was fueling his growth.
And despite Issei using the Dragon Style—a technique passed down to him by his uncle Tannin, the Blaze Meteor Dragon—he was barely keeping up.
That alone was terrifying.
The Dragon Style was not just any combat technique—it was one that honed raw instinct, allowing its user to react to attacks at speeds beyond conscious thought. It was the pinnacle of dragon-based close combat, refined by the most ferocious warriors of his race.
Yet, despite this—despite relying on pure instinct to evade and counter—
He was still struggling.
Barely dodging.
"What the hell is going on?" Issei thought, his breathing heavy, his wings aching from the constant strain.
Then—it hit him.
A memory surged to the surface—a warning he had completely ignored in the heat of battle.
Ddraig.
Before Issei had left with Renekton, the Welsh Dragon had given him a critical warning.
"Be careful, Issei. Renekton has an ability similar to mine. The longer the fight drags on, the stronger he gets. If you don't end it quickly, you'll be fighting an opponent who only grows more terrifying with time."
Issei's heart sank.
He had forgotten.
Completely and utterly forgotten.
In his rush to protect his friends, he had focused only on luring Renekton away, making sure the battle wouldn't endanger those he cared about. In doing so, he had ignored Ddraig's words—
And now, that mistake had come back to bite him.
Hard.
Renekton's golden aura flared violently, sending out shockwaves that cracked the battlefield beneath them. His movements were now so fast that Issei barely had time to react—his cleaver carving through the air in blurs of destruction.
This wasn't just raw power.
This was adaptation. Evolution.
Every exchange, every block, every evasion—Renekton was growing. Becoming faster. Becoming stronger. It was like fighting a living embodiment of war itself, a beast that only thrived the longer it remained entrenched in bloodshed.
And for the first time since the battle began—
Issei felt a tinge of doubt creeping in.
Renekton, towering above him, licked the blood off his blade and sneered. "That all you've got, dragon?"
Issei wiped the blood from his snout, his crimson eyes flashing with defiance. "Noteven close, you overgrown lizard."
Renekton let out a low, rumbling chuckle before it erupted into a full-blown booming laugh.
"Hahaha! I like your spunk. Keep fighting. Only in battle can we prove our worth. Fight with all your might because only then will slaughtering you prove meaningful." His muscles tensed, his aura flaring as golden energy crackled around him. "I seek to fight the strongest. Even you are but a stepping stone to my true targets."
Issei's eyes narrowed, his instincts sharpening at Renekton's ominous words.
"Targets?"
Renekton's grin widened, his fangs glinting under the glow of fire and lightning.
"I seek to become the strongest, and there are only two beings in this universe that stand in my way."
At that moment, a cold shiver ran down Issei's spine.
He knew exactly who Renekton meant.
"You don't mean—"
Renekton let out a dark chuckle, his massive frame radiating raw, primal ambition.
"Hehehe, of course you would know. They are your kind, after all." His grip tightened around his cleaver, his aura distorting the air with raw intent. "I seek to challenge the two Dragon Gods. Great Red, the Apocalypse Dragon, and Ophis, the Ouroboros Dragon. They stand at the peak of existence, the last obstacles in my path to absolute supremacy."
He raised his cleaver high, pointing it toward the darkened sky. "I will begin with Ophis. From what I've gathered, she walks this world. A being whose power is infinity itself—what greater test of strength could there be?"
Issei's blood boiled.
Hearing Renekton speak so casually about hunting down his mother struck a nerve so deep that for a brief moment, his entire body trembled with rage. Despite knowing that his parents were beyond the reach of any mere challenger, the very thought of someone seeking to harm them was unacceptable.
His power spiked violently—a surge of black lightning arcing across his body as he snarled.
"You will not touch her!"
The force of his anger tore the ground apart, splitting the battlefield with the sheer weight of his rising fury. Flames—purgatory, ice, and decay—roared to life around him, twisting into a vortex of annihilation.
Renekton's eyes widened slightly—not in fear, but in amusement.
"Oh?" He smirked, tilting his head mockingly. "You speak as if you know her personally... Wait." His grin grew even wider.
A thought struck him.
"Don't tell me… Ophis is one of your mates too?"
Issei froze.
"EWW! That's disgusting! That's my mother you're talking about, you crazy crocodile!"
He practically gagged at the mere suggestion, his entire body shuddering in revulsion. His expression twisted into pure disgust, his wings twitching as if trying to shake off the mental image.
And then—it hit him.
He had said it out loud.
The battlefield fell into an eerie silence.
Issei's eyes went wide in horror as he realized what he had just shouted.
His claws flew up to his mouth, covering it comically, his body stiffening as his brain processed his catastrophic mistake.
If Renekton had attacked right then, there was a good chance Issei would have been severely wounded—if not outright killed.
But he didn't.
Instead, Renekton stood motionless.
For a moment, there was absolute stillness.
Then—
A deep, rumbling chuckle escaped Renekton's throat.
And that chuckle grew.
It turned into laughter.
A thunderous, roaring laughter that shook the very heavens.
"HAHAHAHA! NOW ISN'T THIS PERFECT!"
His aura erupted, a golden storm of raw chaotic energy surging outward, causing entire cliffs to crumble into nothingness.
Issei clenched his fists, watching as Renekton's glee intensified.
Renekton exhaled sharply, his laughter dying down into a more composed—yet even more sinister—smirk.
"If what you say is true… then this is truly fortunate for me."
Issei's body tensed.
Renekton's grip on his weapon tightened, and a dark glint of realization burned in his eyes.
"I've been wondering how to lure out the Ouroboros Dragon. She's elusive, nearly impossible to track. But now…" He raised his cleaver, pointing it directly at Issei's chest. "The solution has been delivered to me on a silver platter."
The air grew heavy.
"If I take your head, then it stands to reason that Ophis will come out of hiding to avenge you." His voice was calm, methodical, but the hunger in his eyes was unmistakable. "How perfect. Instead of having to find her… she will find me."
A low growl rumbled in Issei's throat.
Renekton grinned.
"I've never been more thankful to an opponent than I am today. As compensation, I'll make your death swift and painless, Issei Hyoudou."
Issei's power flared.
The sky turned black.
Dark flames screamed around his body, the very fabric of reality distorting under the sheer force of his fury. His once-burning flames turned into a storm of utter destruction, crackling with pure malice.
"You certainly have big dreams, crocodile." Issei's voice was calm—but deadly. "Even if you somehow manage to defeat me, you will never defeat my mother. You will die if you encounter her."
Renekton let out a toothy grin.
"Then so be it."
His voice was steady. Unwavering.
"If I die, then it only means I wasn't strong enough. I crave violence, battle, chaos, and destruction. If my path ends there, then so be it. But until that day comes..."
His aura exploded outward, shaking the entire battlefield. His golden energy clashed against Issei's fire storm, creating a cataclysmic storm of colliding forces. It was a miracle Issei's shield surrounding the battlefield was still holding on at this point.
His eyes burned with resolve.
"I will slaughter all in my path."
"Then I will make sure to stop you here and now Renekton." Issei promised.
It was time to take their battle to the next level.
Chapter End.
That's the end of the chapter!
What did you guys think? I really hope you enjoyed it! It's not a particularly long chapter, but I'm glad I was able to deliver something for you all. As always, I'm truly grateful that you've stuck with this story and continued following it. Your support means the world to me, especially given my inconsistent update schedule—so thank you for your patience!
Now, I have a feeling that some of you might be ready to roast me for having Issei outright reveal his origins. You're probably wondering—what was the point of keeping it a secret if he was just going to spill it? Well, I wanted to highlight one of Issei's biggest weaknesses: his inexperience. He's still young, and in the heat of the moment, his emotions got the better of him. The mere thought of Renekton believing Ophis was his mate disgusted him beyond belief, which caused him to slip up and reveal his origins unintentionally. That being said, I can promise you one thing—Renekton won't be spreading the news. That's just not the kind of character he is.
For those of you unfamiliar with Renekton and his abilities, let me give you a quick rundown. Renekton is a champion from League of Legends and has always been one of my favorites, alongside Zed. I've always liked crocodiles, so naturally, a ruthless, war-hardened one appealed to me. When I first started writing this story, I knew I wanted to incorporate him in some way.
If you're familiar with League of Legends, you probably recognized "Flash" and "Cleanse" as summoner spells. In this story, I've essentially given Renekton the ability to use most of these spells, but with a cooldown.
His ability to grow stronger as the battle progresses is also inspired by the game. Renekton has a passive called Fury, which builds up as he fights, empowering his abilities. I translated this into the DxD universe as a battle adaptation ability, similar to Ddraig's Boost. However, to clarify—Renekton's growth is much slower than Ddraig's. While Ddraig doubles his power with every boost, Renekton's strength increases gradually over time. If we were to visualize it in mathematical terms, Ddraig's power-up would be an exponential curve, while Renekton's would be a linear progression. That being said, Renekton is still stronger than most gods, as I wanted him to be on par with a Heavenly Dragon—a true rival for Issei to overcome. Since Issei is very OP in my story, I wanted to make sure Renekton posed a serious challenge.
Lastly, I know this is very late, but I still want to wish all of you a Happy New Year! May this year bring you nothing but happiness, health, and success.
Thanks again for reading, and I hope you're looking forward to the next chapter!
Until next time,
