"Wait you know the bird that just blew a hole in me," Spike said, startling Kellie, "Please tell me she at least shot you too in that encounter."

"I was able to talk my way out of it," Angel replied, "What did do you do to her, Spike?"

"Actually, wasn't that your super committed actor friend, Lorne, that showed up and diffused the situation?" Kellie asked as Spike also responded.

"Who says I did anything, Peaches?" Spike snarled, "All I did was try to warn Pistol here she probably didn't know what she was getting herself into and should sit this out whoever she is."

Kellie looked horrified at realizing that Spike was pretty much alive despite being shot point blank in the heart.

"How is he still alive?" Kellie said, "Much less talking. I mean I know some drugs make wounded people not feel the wound. But no drug is this good. What's wrong with his face?"

Kellie looked back at Angel as he tried to figure out how explain the existence of vampires to her.

Spike meanwhile burst out laughing, "She's met Lorne too and still has no idea what we are. Bloody Brilliant."

"Spike, just shut up," Angel said, then turned his attention to Kellie, "I'll explain it. But could you put the guns down first? Spike and I were looking into the disappearance of some foster kids from a community center a friend of ours works with. I'm guessing you might be looking for a foster kid your foundation is helping out."

"Yeah, we were trying to work with her on scholarship applications and getting into college," Kellie said, cautiously lowering her weapons but not putting them away, "When she didn't show for our last meeting and didn't show up at school, I went looking for her. I tracked some people she was last seen with here. Wait how do you know about my foundation?"

"Lorne kept a bead on you," Angel said, "Given some of his warnings about how we could and couldn't help you before, we tried to keep an eye out that you wouldn't necessarily get mixed up in this part of town. You don't know what you're getting yourself into here."

Spike at this time managed to stand up and stagger towards Kellie and Angel, his face shifting back to normal.

"Peaches, as fascinating as this little catch-up is, could we deal with more important things like the hole in my chest?" Spike said.

"You'll heal," Angel said, noticing Kellie tense up and start to raise her guns again as Spike got closer, "Stop being overdramatic and stop moving."

Angel moved forward, putting himself between Spike and Kellie.

"I see how it is," Spike said, "You think Pistol here's a damsel in need of saving. Under mortal circumstances, I'd guess that's not the case."

Angel yanked Spike close enough to whisper gruffly in his ear, "I don't know what you did to have Kellie come out guns swinging at you. Even though she doesn't know what we are, some part of her knows we're physically stronger in a way that she can't outsmart like she normally could. And I met her under circumstances that give her good reasons to be jumpy when someone approaches her unexpectedly, even more so if that someone is male."

Spike picked up on Angel's meaning, "The bloke that triggered that particular response?"

"Dead," Angel said, "Shot in some police raid on the east coast."

"I suspect there's more to the story than that," Spike said, "How is it that Pistol has no bloody clue what we are?"

"Didn't come up," Angel said, "Her problem back then was strictly human. So we left it that way."

"I don't know what all is going on here," Kellie interrupted, "If you need to get your friend help, go for it. I have to figure out if my client is here for sure and if she's in any danger. If you decide to get the cops involved, my lawyers will stop any charges dead in the water. Clear cut case of self- defense."

"No one's getting the cops involved," Angel said, "Kellie, Spike and I will get your friend out. Just head back to your foundation office. We'll bring her there."

"I'm going in no matter what you have to say about," Kellie replied, "Not mention your friend should be dead and not likely in any shape to help."

"Angel, a kip of Grandsire blood would help with the healing here," Spike said, "No sense in arguing with her. I suspect Pistol would just sneak in after us anyway."

Angel looked back at Kellie, down at this wrist, and back at Spike.

"She's bloody well going to find out anyway, if she hasn't already put it together," Spike said, "She goes inside, she'll see the not so friendly soulless versions of us."

"Do we need to dig the bullet out?" Angel asked.

"Nope, there's an exit wound," Spike grimaced.

Angel shook his head and then held out his wrist to Spike. Spike's face transformed and he latched on to Angel's wrist to drink his blood.
