"Come on kid let go." Eda shouted. "You don't want to be late getting your own magic staff like the rest of your classmates."
Luz ran down the steps shouting, "Come Eda let's go already."
"There's the excitement of a witching knowing what she wants." Eda said leaving the owl house.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN'T FOUND THEM YET!" Kiki roared in anger.
"They stole a ship that was returning to port." a scout said. "But with every port being guarded and the markets being watched they are unable to restock supplies without us knowing."
"Have the Coven scouts send out a notice." Belos said standing up. Kikimora, Lilith, and Hunter took out quills and paper. "Anyone who can give information on the pirates or Bloodlust will be given a full pardon depending on their crime and Lilith, tell the owl lady I will overlook her not joining a coven if she is able to bring me the witches she knows of that can make mermaid equipment."
"Understood." the three said in unison.
"Golden Guard a word." Belos said before Hunter left.
"Yes Emperor Belos." Hunter said as the doors closed.
"I have a task for you, that is, if you complete it." Belos said sitting down. "I will forget your last transgression."
"What is it you need me to do?" Hunter questioned wanting a chance to prove himself.
"I have heard that the Bat Queen is allowing the Palismen she guards to try and gain new bonds with the students of Hexside." Belos said.
"Do you want me to collect the ones that don't bond?" Hunter guessed.
"No," Belos corrected. "The mermaid is going to participate, and it might be a way for us to show her our good faith in her." Belso then levitated a piece of wood that looked oddly pinkish.
"Coralwood." Hunter questioned.
"Yes, should the girl not get one that was made by another offer her this as an apology for recent actions." Belos explained. "And should one choose her then see if she will give it to another mermaid for safe keeping."
"But your curse." Hunter questioned.
"Palismens made from that wood are poison if it is absorbed by anyone not of a mermaid bloodline." Belso answered.
"I understand uncle, I'll make sure she gets the wood." Hunter said with pride. "I won't let you down." Hunter then left the room to fetch his staff. "This is my chance to show him I can be trusted again. Now I hope I'm not too late to see if she has one already." Hunter flew to Hexside and saw a crowd gather round on the Gruby field. "Good I'm just in time." Hunter flew lower and hid in the trees. He looked around and saw that Luz was talking to some other students. "Okay now I just need to wait and see if she gets a palismen or not." Just then he saw the Owl lady walking over with the principal, both looking rightfully happy.
"Good tides on this glorious day," Bump announced. "You're all about to receive your witches' staff and more importantly meet your Palismen. This is a crucial step in your magical development. Palismen are lifelong partners, they can both become your good friend and a powerful tool. In my case." Bump snapped his fingers and the red hat he wore came off to reveal long black hair that went to the floor.
"Holy titan." Luz said seeing Princable Bumps long black hair.
"Frewin here helps me see." Bump said scratching the imp like palismen.
"Now traditionally young witches carve their staffs from a branch of an old Palism tree." Eda explained.
"But sadly, Palism trees are becoming more rare." Bump continued. "And those that remain are guarded."
"That's why I've teamed up with Bumpy-poop." Eda said.
"Never call me that." Bump complained.
"To bring you…" Eda continued ignoring Principal Bump's complaint.
"Palismen Adoption Day!" The Bat Queen finished flying over and landing on the perch connected to the little Palismen house as little Palismen came out of the house.
The students started to look at the Palismen amazed by what they could have as a lifelong partner.
"They're so cute." Luz complemented.
"Thanks for the favor, BQ." Eda said, holding the whistle she got when she looked after the Bat younglings, out to return it to the Bat Queen. "Here's your whistle back."
"Save it for another time. This was my pleasure." The Bat Queen suggested refusing the whistle. "What a wonderful idea."
A little red cardinal with a scar over its eye walked over to a crack in the wall and tried to go out only for Principal Bump to stop him.
"These little ones have not had homes in many years. They want to feel a connection." the Bat Queen explained. "Knee and state your deepest wish and your like-minded partner will find you."
"Uh, I want my own palismen not some trashy hand me down." Boscha complained
"Your lose then." Willow said running up to the habitat and kneeled. "I want to be strong and wise to protect everyone I love. And if any one gets in my way they'll feel the sting of defeat."
"Tender yet tenaches." The Bat Queen judged. "Clover gives her support." soon a bee-like palismen with a needle for a mouth flew up to Willow
"Oh my gosh!" Willow squealed as Clover became a staff. "I'm going to take such good care of you."
The other student soon congratulated Willow on getting her own Palismen.
"Out of my way." Boscha growled pushing Willow to the side. "I want to play professional Grubgby"
The bat queen laughed then said, "A competitive spirit, Maya will be thrilled." just then a crab walked up to Boscha and became a staff for her.
"Okay, this is pretty cool." Boscha said with a little bit of a blush as Maya clicked her claws.
Viney immediately got on her knees and said, "I want to open my own veterinary clinic for mythical pets." Soon a lion cub with a bead tail came to her and became her staff. "Oh, alright."
Gus then took he turn and announced, "Dad wants me to become a master Illusionist, but that's easy. So instead I'll become an ambassador to the human realm and re-establish contact with the giraffes." a blue gecko glowed then crawled up Gus and changed into staff.
"I just want to make it to graduation." a kid with a sun shaped head said. The boy then saw A yellowish sloth hanging from his arm, glowing green accepting him. "Yes." The boy then held the sloth staff.
Everyone compliments each other for gaining a staff. As Luz took her turn.
"I guess, I want to…" Luz announced. "I want to connect the worlds I come from and found my place in together, to show everyone that our destiny is our own to forge."
"Such a loving heart full of wonder." The bat Queen judged. "I know she would love to have you as a partner." a dark blue otter with brown spots on its back and a single pink spot on its head then ran up to Luz and became a staff. "Take good care of Aqua."
"I will Bat Queen. Thank you." Luz said holding the staff.
"You are welcome child." the Bat queen said. "Then leaned closer to Luz. "And don't worry she was made out of Coral wood." Luz only smiled knowing she was going to love swimming with her Palismen.
