Marcus woke feeling tired and sore all over, it was like the time his head was healing after the burning of his scalp only covering his entire body, turning to be on his side he got a face full of hair.
Sitting up suddenly did not help how he felt, gasping when it felt like every nerve was sending signals of pain woke his bed partner who compounded it by hugging him.
"Pain lots of pain," he wheezed out between gritted teeth.
The arms immediately released him, "Sorry."
"It's fine I guess but I don't think I can do much more about the ship for a day or two," he said turning his head to face Hermione only to quickly look away from her as he noticed she was not wearing much of anything.
Her laughing at his reaction did not help as he could see the movement of her breast even in the bra from the corner of his eye.
"Relax you've seen it all before," she told him after getting herself under control.
Climbing out of the bed deliberately in a way that exposed more of her body to him, she looked over her shoulder and smiled as she saw his eyes following her movement.
"True but that is different, we just woke up at the gate and had nothing to wear now that we have a source of clothes I should at least try and not look," he said forcing his eyes from her figure.
Still on her hands and knees, she turned to face him and crawled to be in his face again his eyes following her every movement until they were nose to nose.
"You picked me, I would not exist without you, I am yours to look at if I want you to look I'll show you my all, if I didn't want you to look at my body I'd not give you the chance to."
Pulling back a little she kissed the tip of his nose then got off of the bed and entered the closet, after a few minutes he heard the tinkling sound of the replicator making something then the shower began.
He sat in bed listening to the sound of the water splashing off of her body for a while before getting out of bed himself, slowly he made it to the replicator to have it make him some clothes, and returning to the bed he lay down the clothes and dressed each movement sent pain throughout his body.
When the shower shut off he tried to pull on his shoes, but bending over had begun to be difficult, Hermione came from the bathroom adjusting her shirt and pulling her long hair out of it.
"Thank you drying charms," she said letting her hair fall.
"Yeah cleaning charms as well, I don't want to think about what I would feel trying to shower or just wash off right now," Marcus said giving up on his shoes and standing up.
Hermione nodded before gently pushing him to sit again then stooped to put his shoes on for him, "Don't get used to this," she said while tying the laces.
He let out a small laugh, "Like I said before I didn't want a servant."
Standing again after she stepped away he turned to go downstairs, his movement slow, it took a few minutes to get down to the ground floor and the dining room where they found that the android serving as the chef was placing the fixings for hamburgers on the table.
"I didn't know what foods you like or how you take a burger so I told them to just lay it out and we could put what we want on them," she said helping him to sit and then taking a seat next to him.
"That's fine," he told her as he began adding lettuce onions mayo, and mustard to his burger.
"Just no fish or mushrooms and tomatoes on my plates and rotate the menu unless a certain meal is requested," he ordered the android as it set a plate of home fries between the two.
"Confirmed," it replied stepping back and awaiting further orders or the meal to be finished.
" Chuck came by just after you were taken to bed," she told him just before they started eating, then went on to explain the reason for the visit.
"Well that was nice of the company and I did wonder myself why a place for medical emergencies was not included but it does make sense that most times people are sent to planets, not a ship," He said after she finished telling him of the meeting.
"Speaking of medical care as soon as you're done eating you are getting a check-up," she told him in a voice that brooked no argument.
Sighing he nodded before taking another bite and chewing slowly as he thought over what he heard about the ascended.
"If those ascended can not act unless it is to help clean up the messes they left on the mortal planes that clears up some things but it may also make things harder for the humans of Earth, if I remember correctly in some of the fictional stuff I read there was an ascended nudging the early SGC," he said after swallowing.
Hermione shrugged, "It's all new to me, I'll have to search the library for it all."
Nodding he took a drink from his glass of sweet tea before pushing away from the table and using it to help him stand.
"Well let's get the checkup over with, we at least need to send the drones to the ship to start repairs and also see where it is, We can go from there," he said turning to walk to where the medical room should now be.
Hermione had been waiting for him to finish his larger meal, stood up to follow him.
"I have the drones on standby down at the gate as well as a replacement for the CO2 scrubbers, also I had the environmental suits recycled to be replaced with the lighter ones so basically they are for oxygen and heating with the ship shields the background radiation is safe," she said stepping to his side.
"Okay that's great to hear those first suits were a pain to get on," he said stepping to the new door that slid open with a slight hissing noise just like the ones from the Enterprises.
The room they found on the other side of the door looked similar to the sick bay from the Voyager except it only had two medical beds along one wall and a recessed room and bed on the other side near what looked to be an office of sorts.
In the center of the room, a man looking exactly like the doctor from Voyager appeared, "Please state the nature of your medical emergency,"
"Check up on myself and a full neurology scan of him as well as a check-up," Hermione said before Marcus could say a word.
"Very well, please sit on the medical beds," the doctor said while walking over to an equipment trolley and moving it to be between the beds.
Marcus eased himself onto the bed Hermione watching him just in case she needed to help, after he was sitting she took the other bed.
The doctor watched this and decided to scan Hermione first, "Can you give me a description of the reasons why he is moving so carefully?"
Marcus was the one who answered, "A being similar to a Q used me as a conduit to pass on some declarations to a group of people that have similar but lesser abilities to the Q, the being did not take into account that my body could not handle the power it needed to send it's message."
Finishing the scanning of Hermione the doctor set down the tri-quarter he held beside a tablet and picked up another to begin scanning Marcus.
"I see," was all the doctor said while scanning him then setting down the tri quarter beside another tablet and lifting the one with Hermione's scan results now displayed.
"You are a healthy human female of the apparent age of twenty-five years of age though I am seeing signs of advanced cloning and aging, please clarify why that is," the doctor commanded.
Again it was Marcus who answered giving the doctor all of the information he could, "Well whoever did the cloning did a very good job of it, Miss Granger shows no signs of developing any known defects caused by the aging process, other than being a clone you are perfectly healthy."
Setting down the tablet and picking up the one with the scans of Marcus the doctor read, " You sir need a hypo of a pain suppressant, the damage to your nervous system has been repaired the pain you feel now should pass in the next day or two."
"Thanks, Doctor, we shouldn't need your services often, I'm authorizing you to activate and deactivate at will, we have a library with medical knowledge from the magical world that may be of use to you please study it in your downtime," Marcus said as the doctor went to a medical replicator to retrieve the suppressant.
"That is appreciated, my medical database does not have any information on the magical people Miss Granger is from, I will begin with that," the doctor replied returning and administering the hypo.
The pain slowly faded from the point where the hypo was used until it was nothing more than a dull ache, "That should last twenty-four hours if you suffer more injuries return immediately as the damage may be more than you can feel for the time being."
"Alright, we'll leave you to your studies, we have a several million-year-old ship to repair most of which will be done by drones so we should be safe," Marcus said hopping down from the bed followed by Hermione getting off of hers.
At the door Marcus stopped and looked up "Computer designate an android to act as a nurse for the doctor, mark it with a red cross over the left breast area."
"Confirmed the unit will be in the medical room in five minutes," the computer replied.
"Much appreciated Sir," the doctor said as he walked into the office.
The two left the room and went down to the basement and machine shop, where they found two new and thinner suits on the replicator table.
"Computer did you have these made?" Hermione asked.
"Affirmative."
"Thank you but please inquire before taking action from now on," she said lifting the suit that was much easier to handle.
"Confirmed."
She moved both suits to a table returned to the replicator and brought up the schematics of the shields.
"These are the best of the portable shield generators, the problem is that each will take up to a day to build with the replicator and then we would have to add the runes to add the repair function," she pointed out.
"We may not have to build them, when you said we had a library added to the house I remembered a fanfiction where someone was able to land the Destiny on an uninhabited planet to repair the ship, let's build a few for now, if we don't need them we can either recycle them or put them in storage for later," Marcus said looking over the schematics.
Hermione nodded as she, "Okay that's an idea, it would take ten units to cover the ship."
"Then let's have four made for now, and we can add the repair runes later on if we need to," he said thinking for a minute.
"Alright we'll do that," she said touching the panel to schedule the building of four of the car engine-sized units.
"Computer after each unit is finished have the androids store them in the storage room next to this room," Marcus said.
"Confirmed."
After ordering the build they took a suit each and left the shop and returned to the living room and were about to leave when Hermione remembered neither had their bracers, she dropped her suit and ran up to the master bedroom to grab them from the bedside tables, hurriedly she strapped her on and ran back to the living room handing his over.
"Yeah I didn't think of these I'm not used to having them so didn't automatically grab them on the way out of the room," Marcus said as he put his on.
"Yeah me as well, it will take some time to get used to it," she said sitting on the couch and beginning to pull on her suit, this one only took a few minutes to get it on other than the helmet.
Marcus followed her lead pulling on his suit making sure to pull the screen off of his bracer and attach it over the wrist component.
Once ready they left the house and walked to the gate, there they found the hundred repair drones waiting for the next order, as well as three containers of lime on a hover cart.
"Drones prepare to enter the gate once on the other side spread out and wait for the Destiny to connect with your systems and deployment," as he spoke the spider-like bots stood up and faced the gate.
Turning to the gate and ordering it to open with a thought, as soon as it opened the drones began filing through, Marcus took hold of the handle of the hover cart and followed the last drone to the ship.
"Destiny slave the drones to your repair routines and begin the repairs possible while in flight," he ordered as he stepped through the gate.
"Understood recommended repairs on micro-fractures," Destiny responded.
"Do that as well as shut down the life support systems and feed the energy to the drones, also detach the current filtering containers and dispose of them," Marcus said.
"Understood, life-support systems shutting down and feeding energy to drones, filtering containers need to be moved to an external hatch physically," Destiny reported.
"Have the drones move them and clean up the residue, once the system is cleaned have the drones install these new filtering units," Marcus ordered.
"Understood, the oxygen remaining onboard the ship can be stored in containers or vented when the obsolete filtering units are disposed of."
"Yes vent the oxygen and keep the ship in a vacuum, we will replenish the oxygen at a later time," Marcus gave the last order he could think of.
"Understood, it is recommended that living beings restrain themselves in the event of decompression when disposal commences," Destiny warned.
Stopping to think about what could happen Marcus changed his plan, "Seal off the gate room and slowly remove the atmosphere here over the next few hours,"
"Understood, drones will require twenty hours to seal the micro-fractures in the gate room,"
"Proceed with repairs and moving the old containers, once the room is repaired and can handle a vacuum wait for my orders to proceed further," he said while walking to join Hermione.
Once on the ship, Hermione went to the panel they used to retrieve the schematics of the ship and drones, now she pulled up the travel logs to find out where they were.
What she found was both pleasing and shocking, the ship was between galaxies and they were astronomically close to the next galaxy but it was still a six-month travel time, the shocking thing she found was a ship was slowly catching up with Destiny although it was a year behind them she could see that it's speed would have it entering the galaxy at nearly the same time as Destiny.
When Marcus joined her she pointed out the following shipto him while speaking, "Destiny how long has the ship behind us been following you?" she asked.
"Nintynine point seven five years."
"Is it related to the ship attached to the hull?" she asked.
"Yes."
"We need to get that thing off of the hull," Hermione said while looking at Marcus.
Marcus was looking over the panel then had it focus on the ship attached to the hull.
"Can the shield be dropped in that section without compromising the integrity of the ship?" he asked while circeling the small ship with his finger.
"Yes the shields in that section can be pulled down and only cause minimal damage, that section is an empty storage compartment," Destiny informed them.
"Can you adjust the current course without exiting FTL?" Hermione asked.
"Negative the course was set before exiting the previous galaxy to adjust the course the ship will have to end FTL to locate the new destination."
Looking over the display Marcus quickly did some calculations, " At the speed the ship is moving that little ship would be torn appart once it hits the FTL wake behind us."
"Confirmed."
"Okay divert the power from the shields in that section into the structural integrity of the area that should drop the shields at the same time and add some safety," Hermione said thinking out loud.
"Confirmed."
"Do it." Marcus ordered.
After a minute the ship shook, Marcus kept his eyes on the screen and saw the ship fall away from the hull, the shaking was caused by the tiny ship hitting the wake and exploding nearly destabilizing the FTL bubble surrounding the ship.
Hermione in the meantime was watching the ship following, nearly instantly it stopped, before turning back the way it came from, "It must have had a constant connection and assumed that the Destiny had been destroyed."
" Yeah the sensors were detecting a quantum signature, leaving the smaller ship," Marcus said reading the display.
"Destiny maintain the current heading and begin to seal the gate room to stabilize it," Marcus said while he continued to watch the screen.
"Understood."
"For now we will return to the house and let the drones get what work they can do done," Marcus said.
"Alright, Destiny if at all possible have the stellar matter siphons and energy storage fixed and rotate the shield systems to clean out any blockages that may be in the conduits, if we can have a micro fusion reactor built can it be possible to connect it to your systems?" Hermione asked.
"It is possible to integrate external energy sources," Destiny confirmed.
"That's good, I was thinking that instead of having the shield generators built why not make a reactor to power the ship's shield, the shield with repair charms may not work in FTL," Hermione said looking at Marcus.
Marcus looked off to nowhere his face going blank for nearly five minutes, "Yeah you may be right I didn't think of that, if the shield were inside the ship it would work but on the outside most likely the charms would create parts and then be ripped away before being properly attached, plus I didn't think about it but how to attach the shield generators to the hull,"
"Alright let's head home cancel the build and start searching for a powerful but small generator but how about hydrogen instead of fusion, I almost wish we could build one of those artificial sun things Doc Oc built in the second Toby Mcguire Spiderman movie," he said
Hermione shook her head at the reference to a movie, "Is everything you know from TV?" she asked.
"I had a lot of free time after a three-day work week, and sometimes fanfiction writers would go into great detail about what they wrote and movies also helped pass the time," he said while they walked to the gate.
The gate opened as they neared and stepped through it, as they stepped out of the gate it closed behind them, walking up to the house he tapped his bracer, "Cancel the build on the shield generator if it is safe to do so,"
"Warning the cancellation of the build is not recommended at the current stage," came the reply from the computer.
"Very well cancel the order to build any more after the current one," he said
"Confirmed."
"Pull up the plans for fusion reactors and hydrogen reactors roughly the same size as the shield generators," Hermione said after a moment.
"Confirmed, there are ten plans for each type,"
"Send me the fusion reactors and Marcus the Hydrogen reactors, we will review them through our bracers," Hermione ordered.
"Confirmed, the data is being transferred,"
Their bracers gave a beeping as the transfer began, taking their helmets off as they walked Marcus sighed," You know the first thing we should have built was a way to get down to the gate without having to walk," Marcus muttered.
Hermione burst into laughter, "We can work on that later after the shield is done, I saw a few plans for hovercars, you know if we keep building things that replicator is going to protest at us overworking it,"
Nodding he chuckled, "Yeah I know, well after the shield is finished it will get a break, I'm thinking it will take a while to look over the reactors."
"Another thing we need to do is plan what we are going to be doing, you've said a few times something about fiction about the ship."
Marcus looked like he was looking into the distance for a while it seemed he was not going to answer her.
"Okay, I don't have all the answers, first is the history given on the paper is what I remember from the TV, then there are many different fanfictions written, they vary from time travel where the Icarus team are flung to the past as well as across the universe, then there are some where a ship from the Star Trek universe is pulled through some kind of natural wormhole to be near the ship or vice versa and then there are some that Harry Potter somehow gets to the ship, I think I've even seen one or two with the Star Wars stuff, most fictions though follow the show with minor changes be it the crew is different or it is beyond where the show had gotten."
Hermione listened to him and thought about the possibilities ahead of them, "So we won't know until something happens before we can know what the situation is?" she asked after a moment.
"Basically yeah I was thinking about just repairing the ship and then seeing about getting to the Milky Way I just don't want to possibly blow up the ship or a planet to do it," he said then stopped and turned to look at the gate before shaking his head.
"What?" she asked stopping a few paces further.
"Just a thought, I'll have to think about it later on after the ship is fixed," he replied before turning back and continuing to the house taking her hand and pulling her along.
When they entered the house the first thing they did was sit in the living room and strip off their suits.
"Alright first thing that we need to do is look over the schematics of the generators, I think if we can have the shields hooked up to them the ship can use the power it using to keep them up to augment the speed of the ship possibly getting it to go faster," he said while pulling up the first schematic for a generator.
As they were looking for a generator, Marcus found that while safer to use the hydrogen generators would likely not be able to power the shields unless they had several built to use in parallel to be effective in providing the needed power.
However Hermione had found two generators that could be used, each description in the schematics told her that the generators could if properly maintained provide the power to run a small colony of up to a thousand homes and a small industrial complex.
"This won't work with the ship without building several," he said looking up from his bracer.
"I've found two that can handle the load for the rest of the trip but it will take at least one day to build them, we may need to use our techno powers on them to add a bit but I think they can work," she said tapping the command to enlarge the readout on the ones she found.
He looked them over then pointed at the largest of the two, "This one most likely, has the most safety protocols, the other one uses micro Singularities those things can be dangerous, I am sure I remember a Romulan ship using something similar and it kind of ate the ship when containment failed." he said with a shudder thinking of the possibility of being near something like that.
"Huh I did not think of that, Okay we can have the big one built then go over it and see if we can do some upgrades, I'm also going to have to do some research on the stuff you know about so I don't have to wait for an explanation," she said giving him a small smile.
Taking a sip from a glass of tea that he just realized that an android had placed nearby he nodded, "Yeah though most of what I know is useless, we will have time to study the library and although it won't help with the ship it will give us a basic understanding of some things."
She nodded, "I'm looking forward to it," she said bouncing a little in her seat a bit of her nature from the original Hermione shining through.
Laughing a bit he smiled, this is one of the reasons he chose Hermione, yes there were a few other brilliant companions he could have had but they were single-minded when it came to researching where Hermione would be able to change her focus to what was needed.
He shuddered when he thought about almost going with Seven of Nine, while beautiful and brilliant if it didn't match her point of view it was irrelevant and she was also a bit abrasive, plus what could have happened if someone or something got ahold of her borg nanites was a question he did not want to think about.
Hermione saw the shudder and was concerned about his nervous system acting up stood up and began scanning him with her bracer until he waved her off.
"Sorry, I was thinking about the possible companions after seeing you get excited over learning new things and one stood out to me, I'm glad I chose you over her," at her confused look with a little hurt that he almost did not pick her he explained about liking her personality then Seven of Nines.
"If I remember correctly it took her several years to even begin accepting other people's opinions and by the time she was mostly acting human again she ended up rejoining the Borg, yeah she did it to end a war across time and realities but it was how she was at first after being disconnected from the collective that made me shudder, she was basically a machine with a human body no real personality," he shuddered again.
"Then there is the possibility of someone somehow getting her nanites the universe does not need a Borg collective added to the troubles it will have," this time both shuddered.
"Well I am glad that you picked me," she said leaning to kiss his cheek.
He felt his face heat up after the kiss and gave a small smile, "Yeah me too," he said as she returned to her seat.
"Let's give the replicator a break and set it to start on the generator tomorrow," she said as she sat and pulled up the schematics again.
"Alright," he said trying to get the blush under control.
"Computer add this schematic to begin building tomorrow morning," Hermione called out.
"Confirmed, the build time will last twenty-four hours."
"Let's go check out the library, I want to find something to read," Hermione said after a few minutes of just sitting there while Marcus was looking over a small hydrogen generator that could power a vehicle.
Looking up with a confused expression for a second he nods and closes the file ge stands up and looks around, " Unm where did they put the library?"
"Second floor at the end of the hall," the computer answered.
Following the directions given they go to the second floor and find a set of dubble doors where a solid wall was earlier.
As they neared the doors he gestured for her to enter first, what they found was a large room filled with bookshelves spread out in a simi circle, the shelves stood at least twenty feet tall and stretched out beyond their vision, a table and chairs was in the center of the simi circle about half way between the doors and shelves.
Each set of shelves was labeled by country of origin, one side was labeled mundane the other side was labeled magical, "Wow that's one hell of a library, if my original were to see this she would orgasam so hard she would pass out," Hermione said after a minute of looking around, and holding a chair.
"Uh huh and you didn't?" Marcus asked as Hermione was holding the chair to keep herself standing.
"Hey that's not the same I'm still conscious," she said waving a hand over herself a wave of magic passing over her.
Marcus went to her side and pulled out the chair next to the one she was holding then pushed her to sit before she fell, as he did he noticed two books and tablets in the center of the table, on top of one of the books was a slip of paper.
"Okay let's see, the book can pull up any of the books on the shelves translated to whatever language we want and the tablets can bring up the digital stuff like movies TV shows, and other videos as well as music, hmmm It also has a section on fan fiction," he said as he read the paper.
Hermione picked up the nearest book, opening the cover she found a list of all the books in the library, page after page was nothing but names, she even held up the back cover and let the pages fall but they did not stop even after a minute, finally satisfied with the book she lay it back down and closed it before opening it to the cover page.
"Neat the bookshelves have a Gemini spell on them, tap the name of the book we want and it is copied here on the table and the copy can last up to twenty-four hours, we can take the copies out of here but not the original or the index book," he finished reading the paper after watching her and the book.
"Let's see, say the name or subject of the book we want and the index will make a list on the blank cover page," she said reading the inside of the book cover.
Lifting the tablet he found a search bar, "It's got everything from my Earth even those useless short videos," he said then types out a name on the screen, after a few seconds the screen is filled with the episode list of the Stargate universe series.
"Okay let me pick a book to read and you can watch your videos," Hermione said.
"According to this the computer also has the videos and can pull them up on the TV in the other rooms same with the music, these are here to play the music in a one-way privacy bubble in case we want to listen to something while reading," he points out.
"First edition Hogwarts A history," Hermione said while tapping the name she wanted and waited a few seconds until the book appears on the table beside the index.
She picked up the book and hugged it to herself as Marcus lay the tablet down and stood, "Okay I want to watch the Stargate Universe first season to see if I forgot about something they had to fix on the ship."
Still hugging the book she stood to follow him as he left the library and to the ground floor where he told the computer to pull up the series to watch.
He watched the first few episodes of the show mentally putting together a list of things they would need to do, "Remind me to grab a couple of those probes and a pad or two."
"Hmmm?" Hermione looked up from her book, " what did you say?" she asked.
He shook his head with a bit of a smile, " Remind me to grab a few of those probes and pads next time we go to the ship," he repeated.
"Okay," she answered setting the book aside she stood from the chair she was in and joined him on the couch.
As she sat she pulled his arm over her shoulder, snuggled into his side, and lay her ear over his heart.
"You want to take one apart and see how they work and possibly use your techno powers on them don't you?" she asked as he eventually began running his fingers through her hair.
"Yeah, Eli said that the probes have a near-infinite memory core as well and the scanning function could be better than the bracers," he replied
"Okay, I thought about something while I was reading, what if we take the shield generator and set it up in the gate room and have it scan then tightly from a shield to keep the room clean and usable without needing to wear the suits," she said closing her eyes as his fingers moved over her scalp.
He thought over what she said and nodded, "We can do that but we will need to take some oxygen and a small environmental scrubber to keep the area livable."
Hermione hummed a bit then wrapped her arms around him, "That will make working on the ship easier," she started rubbing her face against him.
"Yeah I have to admit that I didn't think of it, I was just going to install the power generator to power the shields and let the drones do the repairs they can until the next galaxy and then see if we can find a habitable planet with the materials we need to fix it without burning through our own," he said resting his cheek to the top of her head.
After that they didn't speak, just sat there comfortably against each other until the chef came to tell them dinner was ready, the meal was a Italian dish.
Hermione did not want to get up but hunger drove her to get up and go to the dining table to eat, Marcus joined her he to did not want to let Hermione go as he felt the need to keep her close.
"We will take the shield generator to the ship after we finish eating when we are there we will get the probes and controlling panels, then come home and get to bed, in the morning we can work on them and see what we can do with them," Marcus said as he picked out some bread to gather some food onto his fork.
"Alright," Hermione said scooping up a bit of food.
After finishing the meal they went to the basement and the storage room where the generator was to find it on a hovercart vear a ramp leading to a door and outside of the house.
"Handy I did wonder how the androids got the CO2 scrubbers out of the house," Hermione said looking up the ramp.
Marcus took hold of the cart and pushed it up the ramp, Hermione ran up to the door and pushing it open, they found the door faced the gate.
Walking to the gate they watched it open, then walking through the gate they found that the repair drones have already begun to repair the micro fractures in the walls.
"Destiny we have changed the plans a bit, we are going to place this self powered shield generator here in the gate room," Marcus said pushing the cart to the center of the room.
"Confirmed, query to what is the purpose of this?" Destiny asked.
Hermione smiled and answered, "This shield will hold an atmosphere here in the room so that we can at times return to work on things that the drones can not."
"Understood, the drones will need to adapt to the shield to pass through without having to power down the shield," Destiny informed them.
"That is fine, also we need the drones to bring two sphere probes and control pads for them," Marcus said as he lowered the cart.
"Confirmed, the drones will bring the probes momentarily."
Marcus levitated the generator off of the cart and set it on the floor, he then began tapping out the command for the device to scan the room, and a soft blue line of light swept around the room for a few minutes as the screen showed the layout beginning to form as well as a readout on the requirements for the power usage.
"OK, Destiny I need you to see if you can interface with this device and control it to expand the power supply," Marcus said while stepping away to let the scan finish.
"Confirmed, attempting to connect with the device, Confirmed, control is possible, Quiery to what purpose do you require this function,"
"Just a test should we bring more technology and require to leave, be set in locations on the ship we are not able to enter," Marcus said as he saw the scan finish.
He then tapped the panel to have the shield activate, "Does the shield interfere with the functions of the room?" he asked after the shield formed.
"Negative all current functions available are not being impeded."
Hermione was walking around the room looking for any places where the shield did not cover, "I can't find any place uncovered, it looks like the shield is hugging the wall very close."
"Confirmed, the shield has a gap of a micron between it and the bulkhead," Destiny informed the two.
"Okay Destiny test the control, turn it off," Marcus ordered.
"Attempting," a second later the shield shut down.
Marcus nodded while looking around as the shield flickered out in a bluish static, then a few seconds later he heard the sound of the drones legs tinking on the floor coming toward the gate room, two entered through an arched opening carrying two control pads as two probes hovering over them as they walked to Marcus.
Hermione joined him by the generator as the drones came to them and waited for one of them to take the control pads, Marcus bent to take them then he reached out and grabbed one of the probes and passed it to Hermione and then took the other.
"Okay turn the shield on and allow the drones to adapt to the shield once they can pass through shut it down to conserve the power for now," Marcus said stepping towards the gate.
"Confirmed."
The shield flared back into being just as the gate opened, as they stepped through the drones were holding a leg against the shield causing ripples of static to cover a small area.
Walking back to the house Marcus had the two probes floating overhead and following along while he was looking over the control tablet.
"Alright let's see here, they automatically scan the environment and we can use the camera to get a view of the areas we can not enter for one reason or another, okay that's interesting these pads also act as a dialing device for the gates the probes can do so as well but the probes can only dial the ship whereas the pads are given a list of human habitable planets,"
Hermione had to take his arm to guide him as he looked down at the screen, "That's good to know," she said.
As they entered the house Hermione pulled the pad from his hands and pushed him to the couch, "Let the replicator scan these, you can play with them in the morning."
He fell on the couch with a huff as he watched her head to the stairs to the basement, entering the shop she laid the pads on the replicator table then plucked the probes from the air and set them beside the pads.
"Scan these, do a slow and in-depth scan, we may need to make more later, do some simulations in the background to see if they can be used to upgrade the tri-quarters,"
"Confirmed."
Watching the scanning start for a minute she left and returned to the living room, she grabbed his arm off of the armrest pulled him to his feet, and led him to the stairs and master bedroom she let him go and entered the closet and ordered up a set of silk shorts and top.
Changing to the new sleepwear she put the clothes she had been wearing in the replicator, "Recycle these," she told the replicator and watched the clothing disappear in the small beams of light.
Leaving the closet she found him already in bed his clothes lying on the floor, removing the screen from the bracer and putting it on the bedside table, climbing onto the bed herself she eased herself to his side, lifting his arm she lay her head on his chest letting his arm drape over her.
It was a long time before he was able to fall asleep, with her head on his chest and the rest of her body pressing against his own his mind kept wandering to places he did not want to venture for the time being.
