CHAPTER 2:

At 3 p.m. that day at Bellas rehearsal, Chloe broke the news to the rest of the Bellas.

"Guys, I'm afraid I have some bad news," Chloe announced. "Beca ran away."

"Now, what makes you think she'd do that?" Amy asked.

"She left a note," Chloe said as she showed them the note.

"Let me see that," Stacie took the note and read it. "Well, judging by this note it sounds like Aubrey should be ashamed of herself."

"Yeah, no kidding," Chloe sighed. "I wonder where she is right now."

By 5 p.m. that day, Beca had already walked approximately 10 miles off-campus.

"I don't even know where I am right now," she said to herself.

Thunder began to rumble in the distance, and shortly after, rain began to pour.

"Oh, no, it's raining now? I guess I better find shelter," she saw a diner up ahead.

"I guess I could use some food as well," she made her way into the diner and sat down at the counter.

"Well, what can I get for you, miss?" the waitress asked.

"I'll have a coffee. I take it black," Beca responded.

"Why the long face?" the waitress asked, noticing how sad she looked.

"I ran away," Beca sighed.

"From what?" the waitress asked.

"A blonde girl I thought was my friend tore into me about a week ago. It wasn't until last night that her words started repeating in my mind. I just can't face her right now," Beca said.

"I know just how you feel. But aren't you worried that someone might be looking for you?" the waitress pressed.

"There may be one person. This other girl I consider a best friend," Beca shrugged.

"Well, why don't you call her? I'm sure she must be worried about you," the waitress smiled.

"Maybe you're right. I should probably let her know I'm okay," Beca said. "Can I have my coffee, please?"

While the waitress poured Beca a cup of coffee, Beca decided to turn on her phone and noticed that someone had been trying to reach her.

"Aw, dang, I got three missed calls from Chloe," she said as she proceeded to call Chloe back.

Chloe noticed Beca was calling and answered. "Beca?"

"Chloe, I'm so sorry I didn't answer your calls," Beca said.

"Where are you? I've been worried sick about you," Chloe asked.

"I'm at a diner," Beca stated.

"Which one are you at?" Chloe asked.

"The Barden Diner," Beca said.

"That's only 10 miles from here. Beca, hang on, I'm coming for you," Chloe hung up and quickly got in her car.

Back at the diner, "Could I get more coffee?" Beca asked as the waitress poured Beca another cup.

Chloe walked into the diner and saw Beca sitting at the counter. "Beca!" she exclaimed, relieved that Beca was safe.

"Chloe!" Beca ran over to hug Chloe.

"I was so worried about you. Please come back and be a Bella again," Chloe said.

"Are you sure the others will be okay with it?" Beca asked.

"They love you, Beca," Chloe assured.

"But, what about Aubrey?" Beca asked.

"Oh, don't you worry about Aubrey," Chloe said as she gave Beca a wink. "I've got your back."

"Just let me pay the check first," Beca said as she headed back to the counter to pay for her coffee. Once she finished paying, she and Chloe headed back to campus.
